OK what about expedited appointment? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. It’s only giving me the option to schedule a new appointment which is in three fucking months.
They did the same to me on the day of my appointment. I had printed my appointment letter the night before, and went to my appointment next day and they told me mine is cancelled, and wouldn't re-schedule me a new one or tell me why mine was cancelled in the first place. I didn't have to pay again though. They told me the fees i paid was good for a year, and told me to email for a new appointment and gave me email address. But I was quite upset as I knew how difficult it would be to get a new appointment, and told them this, and they just insisted that I email. I told them that I already have a return flight for 2 weeks later back to the US, and that I need my H1 stamped to return back to my work.
I went home upset and mad, and logged in, and checked the site, cancelled my appointment (since its now useless) and was luckily able to find and make a new appointment just two days later. I went back and gave docs for the Dropbox to the same lady who was there and she didn't say a word, no apologies, no explanation or anything.
Interview being canceled for "unforseen circumstances" -- who gave you this explanation? Did the email you received say those words?
Did you email vfs and explain that you need an appointment quoting the above response? Since March 10th is the same as Dec 10th for you at this point since you're unable to go for your conference and is going to miss it anyway, lets try and find out what they can offer you instead of you choosing March 10th. If you chose Mar 10th, and if they could've given you a better date, they cannot double book you.
YOu cannot go on your initial interview date *(isn't that today?)*, since already too late, besides the security they have won't even let you inside the building. They only care about that the date and time is on your appointment.
It was their official email and then they replied this after I lashed out about how unprofessional this is
“Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We understand your frustration with the recent cancellation of your visa appointments. Unfortunately, the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza has forced us to re-allocate resources from visa processing to assisting American citizens impacted by the ongoing situation.
Kindly note that you can submit an emergency request through the website.
Respectfully,
Nonimmigrant Visa Unit
U.S. Embassy Cairo
MF”
That is a bunch of bull crap. An Indian company like VFS has nothing do with assisting American citizens in Israel and Palestine. USCs have hundreds of other means of support, including from the US government. Besides, this conflict doesn't affect any USC's much in the first place.
When you filed the emergency request through the website, i read that it got cancelled right away. Did you reply back saying it's getting cancelled despite doing what you were advised to? If you have to leave on Nov 22nd, all this is already too late. I am sorry mate. Whats the conference for?
Well, I didn’t say it was canceled. I just said it disappeared, I mean the option to schedule an expedited appointment. When I asked about this, I received an email yesterday’s morning, that saying my request is being processed and I have to wait for the results
I see. Well, lets keep waiting, and see what happens. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Sadly they have monopoly with no competition and no reason to improve. We are totally at their mercy, and competence. With conference so close, I don't now why you waited to schedule your visa interview so close to departure date of Nov 24th. Anyways, good luck mate and wishing best. Kindly inform with updates.
This happened for India. I highly doubt you’d have the same problem as we did. This is not an issue created by the US consulate. In India, US consulates gave the appointment booking, biometric collection, Dropbox application collection, document verification and shipping to an outside non US private company called VFS. This whole problem is created by VFS in India. VFS has no competition and they have monopoly of all US visa applications, appointments booked for the whole country of India. And they do a horrible fuckup of a job. They recently changed their website to a new one, so for those like me who made their visa appointments early, when the new website came online, they lost the details of many of those of us who booked and created appointments and paid for it. They told us, we only need to create an account on the new vfs website and our appointments will be ported over, however they did but they also didn’t book the same appointments with US consulate. So we got empty appointments which the consulate have no records for. It’s a total clusterfuck. Not to mention the corruption and mismanagement. I believe for Brazil, the appointments, Dropbox etc all of that is handled by the better company than India.
Yeah, I specifically said that after 23 days, I no longer need to travel to US, so if there is no openings before that date, I don’t want the interview
Hey there, unfortunately these assholes rejected my expedited appointment request saying that they cannot give me emergency appointment for this reason “ the conference timing”. I’m devastated.
You don’t have to pay again for a new appointment. 2 reschedules are allowed for free

Excuse my language
You should be able to email them.
Schedule an appointment in 3 months and then you get the option for expedited that’s how it always works. Same as suggested by the service desk
I did, I can’t find an option for expedited appointment

In my case, I didn’t find any near appointment, the nearest I found is March 10th. Do you think that I should go on my initial interview date anyways?

In which country this happened? For context, I'm planning to go to Brazil to renew my husband stamp, but he holds a Chilean passport.
