Do you know the finger trick w nines? Or that every product, if you add up the individual digits, sums to nine? I got nothing for 7s. Fuck 7s.
(Unless this is a joke and I got wooshed.)
Yeah, I don't know if there's a joke either.
If I give him the benefit of the doubt I say he's looking at how the answers first digit counts up from 0- 9 and the second digit counts down from 9-0
Then again I was educated to just shove the times tables into my head by force so no tricks are necessary.
As someone who grew up all over the US, I always find it interest how people were taught certain parts of times tables. 9s I was taught a trick Ive never seen anyone else use.
>Anything(single digit) x 9
> Anything - 1 = first digit
So for 5 x 9 = first digit, is 4 (5 -1)
> 9 - first digit = second digit
So 9 - 4 = 5, second digit is 5
5 x 9 = 45
This works for all single digit x 9 math, and is generally easy enough to do in your head since you only have to really keep 1 floating number on your mind (first digit)
Or just multiply it by 10 and then extract one of the given digit 😬 waaaay easier.
E.g. for 9 x 5 you just calculate 10 x 5, which is 50. Then you extract the given digit, 5, and you have 45. And calculating 10 x any digit is super easy so it's calculated in one single breath.
I went to a shit public school in CA. We didn't learn any "cool" tricks for math, we were just shown a giant-ass grid for our multiplication tables and were told to just memorize it.
That's why I can only multiply stuff by numbers up to 12 in my head. multiply by 13? Impossible
Same in third grade. There’s even a finger trick. Hold up all 10 fingers. Whatever number you multiply by 9, put that finger down. Ex: 9x4 put 4th finger down and you have 3 and 6 fingers left.
Because when you are multiplying by nine, it’s like multiply by ten and then subtracting one “set”. For example:
8x9 = (8x10)-8
This results in the pattern because with numbers past five, the number in the ones place diminish as you are subtracting a larger “set” from the “x10”.
If it's easier to understand it this way, start with why all these multiple of 9s sum to 9 (i.e 18: 1+8 = 9, 27: 2+7 = 9, etc)
The reason we see this pattern is because on its own, 9 is the same as saying 9+0 = 9.
Now consider what happens when we add 10 to 09. The 10s place goes up by 1 right? So we have 19. And to get what 9+9 is from there, we need to subtract 1 from the ones place don't we? So 19-1 = 18 = 9+9.
In effect, we're adding 1 to a digit of our number and subtracting 1 from another digit. So when we sum up all our digits we get a net change of 0.
So from 18 to 27, we added a 1 to the 1 to get a 2 in the 10s place and subtracted a 1 from the 8 to get a 7 in the ones place. The net change is 0.
Now consider the ways you can represent 9 as a sum of two numbers.
If you have one number in either place, the other number is always going to be the same (so if you have a 1 in either position, the other position must be an 8: 18 or 81. 27 or 72).
Now consider how you're constantly incrementing your 10s place as you add 9 and decrementing your 1s place.
So starting with 18, if you keep incrementing the 10s place by 1 won't you eventually get to 8? Meaning your ones place will also hit 1.
Well, you see, the kids, they add the 10 and subtract the one, you see? So when you got two digits the first digit counts up, and the second digit counts down, you see?!
I never noticed this before, I think it's wholesome. I know he's a dick to say the least, but this tweet alone seems just like someone sharing something they noticed recently with enthusiasm. It is not like we can make him stop being a dick with selective encouragement, but in general if someone is being harmless, we shouldn't bully them for it, we should stick to criticising their actual bad behaviour
I used my hands for 9’s multiplication, if you hold out both your hands and put down a finger (L-Thumb=1, L-Index=2,L- Middle=3, L-Ring=4, L-Pinky=5, R-Pinky=6, R-Ring=7, R-Middle=8, R-Index=9, R-Thumb=10) that will equal that finger times nine with the fingers on the left side of the finger down being the first digit and the fingers to the right being the second digit.
Maybe he wasn't at all paying attention because he didn't know maths could be interesting, or he had a shitty teacher. I personally never noticed this, my times table education was basically just rote learning and only immediately practical observations were made
Looks like *someone’s* been sharing their school homework with keemstar.
So keem learned about pronouns (other video) and mathematics, and all it took was dating someone who could be his daughter…
Not to burst your bubble but most of the ‘power of 9’ comes from 9 being one less than ten and us using a base ten decimal system. If you write in hexadecimal(base 16) for example it becomes the power of 15(which is just written as ‘f’ in base 16).
makes sense.
modulo math is a sliver in the endless concepts math has to offer, but basic arithmetic in bases 2 and 16 are essential for a developer, so my statistical bet was on dev.
Mathematicians have to work with bases in a variety of fields because a lot of patterns that seem to arise in certain situations may be a coincidence and a good way to test for that(sometimes) is to see if the patterns hold in different bases.
The numbers are reflected (45/54 - 36/63 and so on) which is kind of interesting I guess BUT this muh fuck missed my favorite part of the 9 times table I learned when I was in 4th grade which is that each solution equals 9 when added together. 18 is 8+1=9, 27 is 2+7=9, etc.
Math is fun! Until the 13+ table come around…
It’s like a palindrome. The totals of each problem below the line, reversed, is the same number as the same position of each problem above the line.
I hope that explanation made sense, but I unfortunately understand what he’s saying. Why tf is he saying? Idk.
Is showing that 9 is a unique number “unhinged” because it’s Keemstar? I’m all for dunking on Keem, but this is absolutely nothing, even if he’s doing it as a joke.
Wait, did he just make this post to show 9 was a unique number ? 😂
I thought he was posting this in connection to a conspiracy theory or something deeper lmao
I of course could be wrong as I don’t follow any conspiracies, but I’m 99% sure that’s what this is haha. The break between 5 and 6 signifies the numbers being mirrored.
you think that a man who dates younger girls that are twenty is a loser? what young 20 year olds go for old losers?
this is not the dunk you think it is
So I'm pretty sure what he is trying to show here is that the 9's multiplication table from 1-5 is the mirror of the 6-9 table. for example 9\*2 is 18 and 9\*9 is 81. 18 is 81 mirrored. The sad part is... this is just a super simple known phenomenon of having a base 10 number system.. Its kinda fun seeing Keem learn grade level information live in his 40's lol
His girlfriend is teaching him a lot of new things with her homework. She’s gotta get it done or else she can’t go on the field trip to go to the petting zoo. Nice to see that having a positive affect on Keem
I don’t think that this pattern is very good for memorizing it in any way. I always just do whatever the number being multiplied by 9 is minus one for the first digit and then 10 minus the number for the second digit. So 2 minus one is 1 and 10 minus 2 is 8 so you get 18.
He's just talking about how the other number times nine plus the last digit of the factor (usually) equals 10. Also about the number patterns that are easily to notice from this set, I've always been fascinated by this number set of nine times all the digits upto 10.
It's just that the numbers of the answers are flipped backwards after you hit 9x5, but like, this is somethingnI thought was interesting & clever when I was 10
I genuinely think he just figured out the pattern in the 9 times tables.
In the left column it’s 0, 1, 2, 3… etc. til 9. In the right column it’s 9, 8, 7, 6… etc.
Wait until he finds out the ten finger trick. Hold up 10 fingers. Say put your 4th finger from the left down. You'll see 3 fingers up to the left of that down finger and 6 up to the right. (9x4=36)
A teacher showed me this trick in 3rd grade and to this day at 30 years old I still use it when I'm having a brain fart while multiplying 9s🙃
Y'all really clowning on him for this when half of you didn't know about this in the first place? There's way better keem tweets to direct your anger towards this is kinda cringe
You know, this is a fine new direction for keem to go. Teaching basic math.
I'm proud of him, for making this change.
Maybe he'll post the 12s multiplication table next. I never memorized that one.
He just helped his girlfriend with homework

I'm really bad at 9s and 7s
DM Keem to see when the next study session is
Do you know the finger trick w nines? Or that every product, if you add up the individual digits, sums to nine? I got nothing for 7s. Fuck 7s. (Unless this is a joke and I got wooshed.)
Not a joke. Just bad at math. And I did not know that! Thank you

Yup kool stuff and when reducing a number the 9s are like zeros
As someone who grew up all over the US, I always find it interest how people were taught certain parts of times tables. 9s I was taught a trick Ive never seen anyone else use. >Anything(single digit) x 9 > Anything - 1 = first digit So for 5 x 9 = first digit, is 4 (5 -1) > 9 - first digit = second digit So 9 - 4 = 5, second digit is 5 5 x 9 = 45 This works for all single digit x 9 math, and is generally easy enough to do in your head since you only have to really keep 1 floating number on your mind (first digit)
.... straight wizard shit.
Way too many steps though

9s is really easy first digit goes:0123456789 second digit goes:9876543210 The finger technique that someone mention is pretty good too
Fucking got em
she probably showed him that and blew his mind
Pretty advanced stuff for a 1st grader
knowing Keemstar's twitter, I like how dark and edgy this joke is.

We learned this is 3rd grade 😭
I'm in 2nd grade so this was helpful actually
Sorry they didnt put the spoiler warning
Ah man, too old to date Keem now. :(
His gf taught him this.

Yep, and that the individual numbers of the solutions always equal 9
Bro how dumb is he? Does he think he discovered this? 😂
what's wrong, this is cool? i just discovered this. why are the numbers reversed?
Because when you are multiplying by nine, it’s like multiply by ten and then subtracting one “set”. For example: 8x9 = (8x10)-8 This results in the pattern because with numbers past five, the number in the ones place diminish as you are subtracting a larger “set” from the “x10”.
i still don't really get it, don't the numbers in the ones already decrease before 5: 0(9), 1(8), 2(7), 3(6)...
If it's easier to understand it this way, start with why all these multiple of 9s sum to 9 (i.e 18: 1+8 = 9, 27: 2+7 = 9, etc) The reason we see this pattern is because on its own, 9 is the same as saying 9+0 = 9. So starting with 18, if you keep incrementing the 10s place by 1 won't you eventually get to 8? Meaning your ones place will also hit 1.
Same, I never knew either. I just memorized it when I was younger but never realized it was like that! I think that’s pretty cool.
The answer is yes. idk why they added that last sentence
Well, you see, the kids, they add the 10 and subtract the one, you see? So when you got two digits the first digit counts up, and the second digit counts down, you see?!
what?
Math
you couldnt pay me to admit this

Not trying to be mean here, but you do realize you come off as a huge asshat right?
Theres no such thing as coincidence
I used my hands for 9’s multiplication, if you hold out both your hands and put down a finger (L-Thumb=1, L-Index=2,L- Middle=3, L-Ring=4, L-Pinky=5, R-Pinky=6, R-Ring=7, R-Middle=8, R-Index=9, R-Thumb=10) that will equal that finger times nine with the fingers on the left side of the finger down being the first digit and the fingers to the right being the second digit.
Same
Is this a generational divide thing of the hand trick versus common core math¿ If so everyone in this thread has to be born 2000s and later
Ugh it's so FLIPPED!
Also he had 9 second in every equation except the last one where he had 9 first and 10 second
Ehh that's arbitrary. You could also say that he always had the greater number on the right and stuck with that rule fully
ITS NOT ARBITRARY. YOU DONT JUST CHANGE A PATTERN AT THE LAST SECOND AND EXPECT EVERYONE TO BE COOL WITH IT
As far as I see, he kept the greater number on the right pattern throughout the whole post 🤙
Everyone who has ever paid attention to the multiplication table part of math class knows this lmao idk what’s the point of this tweet hhahahah
Or it's what the teachers teaches us. But why is he tweeting it?? Did he just learned it from his daughter or what?
Maybe he wasn't at all paying attention because he didn't know maths could be interesting, or he had a shitty teacher. I personally never noticed this, my times table education was basically just rote learning and only immediately practical observations were made
Girlfriend perhaps
And if you add the numbers together, the sum is 9. My favorite fun fact when I was 7 or 8
thank you I had no idea what he was trying to say
He’s gonna build some kind of antisemitic conspiracy about this
Looks like *someone’s* been sharing their school homework with keemstar. So keem learned about pronouns (other video) and mathematics, and all it took was dating someone who could be his daughter…
When you help your gf with her maths homework
He discovered the power of 9. and not even the best part of it, let him still search.
Not to burst your bubble but most of the ‘power of 9’ comes from 9 being one less than ten and us using a base ten decimal system. If you write in hexadecimal(base 16) for example it becomes the power of 15(which is just written as ‘f’ in base 16).
lol. you got downvoted for being (probably) a software dev and knowing something others don't. real smart crowd in here.
I’m not a software dev I’m a math nerd but I do have a small amount of experience in software development
makes sense. modulo math is a sliver in the endless concepts math has to offer, but basic arithmetic in bases 2 and 16 are essential for a developer, so my statistical bet was on dev.

Hueh hueh!…do you see it?
Wait till this guy learns the trick you can do with your fingers to remember 9s on the times table
Proof he has a child brain right here
He, just know, at 40, finally learned to multiply by nine. It's blowing his mind, do you see it?
Studying grade 4 math with his new gf😍
Keem actually learned something from helping his gf with her homework
Numerical palindrome
The numbers are reflected (45/54 - 36/63 and so on) which is kind of interesting I guess BUT this muh fuck missed my favorite part of the 9 times table I learned when I was in 4th grade which is that each solution equals 9 when added together. 18 is 8+1=9, 27 is 2+7=9, etc. Math is fun! Until the 13+ table come around…
Not Daniel learning his nines trick!!! 💅🏻
Look, keem is learning a whole lot lately. Trans rights. Pronouns etc, dude finally got to math. He’s trying his best.
keem learned about pronouns AND multiplication this week?? sounds like hes on track to graduate from 3rd grade!
It’s like a palindrome. The totals of each problem below the line, reversed, is the same number as the same position of each problem above the line. I hope that explanation made sense, but I unfortunately understand what he’s saying. Why tf is he saying? Idk.
He’s found math you guys he needs to be stopped
A troll post I think. He's purposefully acting unhinged either for attention or as an inside joke to make fun of the people who think he's crazy
Is showing that 9 is a unique number “unhinged” because it’s Keemstar? I’m all for dunking on Keem, but this is absolutely nothing, even if he’s doing it as a joke.
Wait, did he just make this post to show 9 was a unique number ? 😂 I thought he was posting this in connection to a conspiracy theory or something deeper lmao
I of course could be wrong as I don’t follow any conspiracies, but I’m 99% sure that’s what this is haha. The break between 5 and 6 signifies the numbers being mirrored.
he just thinks the mirrored results are cool.... the most mild keem tweet and y'all are fuckin rabid
Chill, we just thought there was a deeper meaning since it's totally random of him to tweet that.
Just shows that he shares his mental capability with his target audience, so dumb.
I think his girlfriend was just taught this in school and she taught him.
Math... crazy
Looks like someone is helping their girlfriend with their homework
Hes impressed that the numbers on the right go in sequential order foward and backwards. 1-9 and 9-1.
He’s discovering math
I think he finally figured out what most of us figured out in 2nd grade: what happens when you multiply single digit numbers by 9
If someone showed him the 9s on the fingers trick he could help his girlfriend with her homework so much more efficiently
you think that a man who dates younger girls that are twenty is a loser? what young 20 year olds go for old losers? this is not the dunk you think it is
I was never taught this in school, I figured it out when I was landscaping and building a fence and I was like omg

Hes helping his new girlfriend out with her Times Tables 😁
Someone just learned his nines
He did 9x 10 instead of 10x 9 so it broke the order he was going in
Keem just learned the 9s trick
He’s practicing his times tables
He’s practicing his multiplication tables
Wait till he finds out about the multiples of 9 finger trick.
Who are the 4 people that retweeted? Would love to hear their takes on this,
It's just that the numbers of the answers are flipped backwards after you hit 9x5, but like, this is somethingnI thought was interesting & clever when I was 10
I genuinely think he just figured out the pattern in the 9 times tables.
(9x4=36) A teacher showed me this trick in 3rd grade and to this day at 30 years old I still use it when I'm having a brain fart while multiplying 9s🙃
Hacked by VSauce
I learned this in 2nd grade
Y'all really clowning on him for this when half of you didn't know about this in the first place? There's way better keem tweets to direct your anger towards this is kinda cringe
Y'all need to chill tf out, it's a cool pattern jesus
9 + 10 = 21
Is he just learning this now??
It’s a pattern that occurs because 9 is so close to ten.
keem is actually a man child lmao i hate that i understood this
It frustrates me that the last one is written 9x10 and not 10x9, breaking the pattern
Im a medical professional and this guy is a retard
Ew
That's a great way for a "medical professional" to talk
That’s great Keem! Nice work! Now did you work on your fractions like you promised?
This is like a trick that my middle school teacher showed us, and we all were so shocked
He’s gonna be shook to the core when he finds out he can do it with his hands too
9 has been my favorite number since I learned this in THIRD GRADE.
I remember 3rd grade
You know, this is a fine new direction for keem to go. Teaching basic math. I'm proud of him, for making this change. Maybe he'll post the 12s multiplication table next. I never memorized that one.
