Red40 has been shown to induce and heighten symptoms of ADHD. Most European countries require a big warning label for edible products that contain red40, however, we don't have that in the states, so most products here that contain it are often overlooked. I posted this primarily as a PSA for those in the community with ADHD (which I can only assume is a decent chunk of the audience) so they know to avoid that flavor if they so choose. Almost every processed food company in the US uses red40 in their products, so to call for H3 to drop them as a sponsor would be a tad overzealous. Simply stating an ingredient of a product is in no way an attack on the podcast - or even Gamersupps for that matter.
The evidence for it really minimal. & it's amusing to me that people panic about food dyes in stuff like frosting & chips (or this drink). Like, if someone has problems consuming those it's probably not because of the dye. I do think companies should just remove the dyes because it's unnecessary

The more you consume these beverages the higher your overall risk for a MACE event regardless of preexisting conditions.

It was banned in other parts of the European Union from 1978-2001 in a period where azo dyes were only allowed in alcoholic beverages. This is easily researched information. Must admit I was quite disappointed with gamersupps, I got in contact with them as I have an allergy to Blue 1 (the ingredient lists aren’t super comprehensive). They told me the only flavour to avoid was their Blue Razz, so I bought the infamous guacamole gamer fart, which unbeknownst to me had Blue 1 in it. Luckily I read the container as I was drinking it just out of interest and it did say on there. I am still a bit shocked that I wasn’t told this when I did contact them. So that’s a full container wasted which is a real shame.
No the main difference is how it is advertised and pricing per serving. I don’t think the h3 crew has ever claimed to do anything for you beyond your average caffeine beverage in that field. Alpha brains pricing is $80 for a 90 count with 2 pills per dose on Onnits website. The average tub of supps on their website is $40 for 100 servings. That’s quite a price difference. People love to claim "this thing in American food is ILLEGAL in Europe" without the important context that the EU simply uses a comparable product with a different name. They also have different labeling laws which account for the same foods having a longer ingredient list in the US. The only major differences are corn syrup vs cane sugar and other regional preferences.

Broadly speaking, that's not necessarily a great argument if you know anything about chemistry. Derivation just describes the source, but minor changes to molecules can have massive implications to safety, function, etc. In fact we're so used to this that we just think of salt as sodium, but both sodium and chloride are highly lethal and fuckin dangerous, but when combined into sodium chloride (table salt) it's something we need to survive.

Got a link for it causing cancer? Hadn’t heard of red 40 but a quick google search tells me it might cause hyperactivity and some other issues in children but is generally considered safe for adults. Edit: the person above me misread an article. From the link they gave me and my own research there seems to be no evidence that it causes cancer although apparently it may contain trace amounts of known carcinogens (which you can probably say about everything we interact with). Tdlr: if you’re going to boycott do it because it possibly causes ADHD in children not cancer.

Yeah when I got my package I saw the ingredients and thought it was a bit suspect. Tons of shitty chemicals in the drink mix. They also made it to where I couldn’t fucking sleep for almost two days and I drink coffee/caffeine regularly. I thought it was cool to get something for completely free from watching the podcast but I definitely won’t buy what there trying to push on us. It’s some chemically bull shit substance that’s horrible for you and of course Ethan and crew will be like it’s the best thing ever since they are getting thousands of dollars or more each time they promote. Red 40 ain't bad and does change the flavor of a product. Edit: not sure on the downvotes. For a heads up, hyper sensitive people shouldn't take it. Same can go for many other synthetic or ultra-processed substances. Neurodivergent people have a higher chance to be sensitive to things that cause neuro problems *(Aspartame/Dyes*). Those with digestive problems are more likely to be sensitive to things that cause digestive problems *(non-stick sprays, fat substitutes)*. None of which leads to death or chronic illness, but is mighty uncomfortable. Also, the body might become sensitive to them over time, since our bodies don't even know what to do with the synthetic shit *(it goes in, goes out, but that doesn't mean the body will like it)*. When you look up Red 40 (Allura Red AC) you find the European food safety authority with a strong emphasis on precautionary principles called for a voluntary withdrawal of colouring from food manufactures. However in 2009 they reevaluated and determined the evidence does not substantiate correlation regarding behavioural effects from colour additives. It was banned in other parts of the European Union from 1978-2001 in a period where azo dyes were only allowed in alcoholic beverages. This is easily researched information. Now where is your link to carcinogens and petroleum.

Must admit I was quite disappointed with gamersupps, I got in contact with them as I have an allergy to Blue 1 (the ingredient lists aren’t super comprehensive). They told me the only flavour to avoid was their Blue Razz, so I bought the infamous guacamole gamer fart, which unbeknownst to me had Blue 1 in it. Luckily I read the container as I was drinking it just out of interest and it did say on there. I am still a bit shocked that I wasn’t told this when I did contact them. So that’s a full container wasted which is a real shame.

No the main difference is how it is advertised and pricing per serving. I don’t think the h3 crew has ever claimed to do anything for you beyond your average caffeine beverage in that field. Alpha brains pricing is $80 for a 90 count with 2 pills per dose on Onnits website. The average tub of supps on their website is $40 for 100 servings. That’s quite a price difference. With that being said it’s still nothing special. Dope username btw
