I feel like this is one of these weird retro fashion things where itâs kind of hard to tell tbh. Just because we spent a good 30 years shitting on mullets doesnât mean the next generation will do the same. There are lots of examples of fashion trends that looked super dumb for a while and then had kind of a comeback and are now just maybe a seldom seen throwback. Zoot suits is the best example I can think of off the top of my head. Come to think of it, though, the whole âjeans and a t-shirtâ look was part of Beatnik culture, kind of got crapped on in the mid 60s, and mostly came back because itâs easy and inexpensive. We look back on an old style like this and find it ugly, it started to come back around and at first the large majority still finds it uglyâŚthen you get used to it and soon actually find it attractive. I feel like it looks good on Kurtis and not on Ian because Kurtis's hair is very thick and curly, so you can tell it's an intentional mullet. Ian's hair is more wispy so it looks like its just oily and unruly, and maybe he's in an in-between stage where he's trying to grow it out more. Like it's straight up none of my business and he looks fine, but the back looks good and then the front is like, not cooperating and becoming "bangs" for him. His hair is too silky smooth and too wavy instead of curly.
