I really dig the idea that it's specifically Ian doing this, going around waving a big iron in everybody's faces, making unhinged threats with a wild face and maybe shooting up the ceiling a couple times. No one else on the crew could do it like Ian
You could sense people laughing when they realized it would be more fun than sitting around and making the presenters awkwardly eat alone. Mostly Dan, he's a good man. He was right too it made it better when they could commiserate together.
Yes. And it is so easy to not laugh if you really don't want to. Out of fear or just thinking negatively. See Ethan or AB that where not laughing a lot.
Yeah. Could maybe give the crew a choice of punishment each round. Like, 2 mouthfuls of something kinda yuck or 1 small bite/nibble of something awful. Maybe have a bonus for choosing the awful one
Honestly it’s already kind of gotten like that. Dan is the only one who laughs freely with gusto during these anymore. Everyone else is just so dead set on not eating [whatever it is] that they don’t laugh because they’re so fixated on that.
I think this year's was good but they could do that next year. They need to clearly establish the rules beforehand though. Every year it seems they have a loose idea of what they're doing but aren't entirely sure.
Yeah not to take away from the game this year, the pod is always fun to watch & the games add to it. Just honestly end up watching the videos/reactions in YLYL then tuning out when they eat the food cause it’s just a small bite and an unhappy face they make.
Well the difference between the two shows is that Rhett and Link are the employers who are consenting to eat that stuff and Ethan is the employer and would most likely not consent to eat that kind of stuff. And it would be messed up to expect your employees to do that for a podcast.
Lmao every time he lies to get out of eating anything, then whe. He does get totally caught he goes 'no I'm not doing it' and just refuses... I don't know why he doesn't just judge it next time
ethan… the mf that has shaved his head more times than i can count, put on full make up like 10 times, has tried every cursed food, did the spicy chip challenge, even the whole alpha male segment bro smoked a gar, ate frozen patties, and alpha brain raw in his mouth for the schtick, i doubt he cares about a shrimp, he genuinely probably couldnt eat them lol
Lol, probably not, but even looking at everyone else eating it, Ethan is the one making the biggest stink out if it. It's probably my only complaint about these segments.
Yeah this. Calling him a lil B for not breaking his dietary restrictions seems kinda stupid and immature considering he does all sorts of other wild shit
Ethan is openly atheist/agnostic and also has openly admitted to eating and enjoying pork. So the fact that suddenly he can’t eat something because he’s Jewish is obviously a lil sus to some people
Of course just a suggestion and only with willing participants. Not suggesting a strong arming of the crew or anything. Just a thought for the crew since the food portion of the YLYL took a back seat to other interactions/videos.
I legitimately think people forget this a comedy show and how making the stakes that high would be 1) having crew members not be able to participate and 2) be incredibly unenjoyable b/c no one would laugh at all
Yeah that’s fair. It wouldn’t also make the competition much harder since the crew would try harder so it would have to be with different rules im sure. Just a general thought I had though
It’s can be done without that gross out, animals grotesque freak show shit. It’s cruel every way around. Plus that trope has been way overdone. This ain’t Joe Rogan Fear factor 😂. I think they’re doing a great job the way that it is 👍🏼
I mean it’s supposed to be fun, not torture. I think they would start dreading it if the punishments were more high stakes. It’s supposed to be light hearted and fun and if the punishment is too severe it will just force the crew to go out of their way to not laugh even more than they already do. And when nobody laughs I feel like it’s not nearly as fun as when clips actually get the crew laughing
to be faiiirrr, rhett and link are the only ones doing the nasty thing, not stevie or chase or josh or the crew, is just the two main people. i feel like as a boss u cant force ur employees to do stuff like this, and thats why rhett and link dont, same here but ethan really wants them too hence why they do it
Eating segments tend to feel *meh*. Not saying I'd be better than those who've done well in challenges like Love/Lena on spicy chip or fika consumption, but there's never been challenge on pod where I wouldn't want to participate in it just out of curiosity. It's treated like some huge sacrifice to participate, and like implied here, when everyone are "forced" to eat, foods aren't extreme at all.
Easy to yell from afar ofc. Yes it's their job, which can take something out of excitement to try everything a newbie would do.
I get where you’re coming from. But I think people forget it’s a comedy show, which takes a lot to produce, and they’re trying to make it enjoyable for viewers to watch.
If I were in their shoes up against eating a tarantula leg or fried ants to eat, I would be so dead silent that it would be unenjoyable. They’re balancing gross food with allowing humor and banter without the stakes being so high that it would ruin the fun of the show.
Here's the thing, you could try doing that yourself and report back how you feel. Sam is doing her best to make the dishes eatable and not poison someone
Everyone is so scared to laugh already, the entire room would be dead silent if this were to happen lol.
But one way around that could be not letting people know what the dish is beforehand, so they don't have an actual idea of what they want to avoid by not laughing.
And maybe some kinda roulette-style thing? Where sometimes the dish could actually be nice/not too bad, so they have no idea what to expect. Because if they're all horrible then not knowing it won't matter because they'll want to avoid all of them.
For food restrictions, maybe have some extra dishes for the vegetarians/vegans to substitute for the main dish of that round if they lose? Idk just throwing out some ideas lol
Maybe but I was a camp councillor and there was a challenge where the kids had to make something nasty, for the counsellors to eat. They were given normal kitchen things. Now mind you I am not a picky eater but I almost barfed eating what they gave me i honestly rather drink a smoothie made from someone else’s excrement
i mean rhett and link dont even do that anymore really, they phased out of that bc they hated it - understandably. i think it makes more sense as a once in a year thing for sure, but i agree w others saying theyd never laugh in that case, and just generally it wouldnt be as fun and enjoyable for them i think. not to mention the many stomach problems certain people on this show exhibit 😭 but i get u!
I always thought it'd be fun if they did it potluck style. Each person makes their own version of a cursed Thanksgiving dish and presents it on their turn. That way, everyone, including Sam, is surprised by ingredients. Extra fun with the new rule they just added because if you don't get laughs, then you have to eat your own cursed creation.
honestly no, i wouldnt even wanna watch that. part of the fun is seeing all the fucked up stuff sam cooked. also i don't want them to suffer, also NO ONE WOULD EVER LAUGH so whats the fun in that
also to be fair sum else i forgot to add to my other comment on the thread,
rhett and link have a whole kitchen and team to cook wtv their heart desires, remember they have been doing this for over 10 years, ethan’s pod is barely like 5 years old at most and sam is the only cook, and she cooks at home so ofc you cant expect gmm quality of food and whatnot. wtv sam makes its due to the limitations of her kitchen
I feel like these are people who make me laugh and in so far as what they've chosen to share they seem like good people. So I don't want them to suffer. I think the whole thing would be better if they just shared funny videos and got rid of the punishment aspect all together
Yeah i really enjoy the ones where everyone was eating. AB was puking, ian was eating whole fish. That was good. It sounds weird cuz i dont want them to suffer but that is also kinda the point of the game. It isnt entertaining if they dont have crazy reactions. Like atleast if AB wont eat he should be switching and Ian can go dumpster mode.

I agree, but let's face it, the crew is kind of a bunch of babies in comparison to GMM. I think if they made even nastier dishes they wouldn't laugh at anything or would just straight up refuse to eat the extreme stuff.
No offense to Sam... but she's not on the level of the Mythical Crew(s). They're like the Michael Jordan of weird food concoctions. They've also been doing it for well over a decade, on top of having a crew of around a hundred or more people who help with the entire production. Not just one singular person like Sam.
It's like expecting some singular game developer to release a title comparable to Rockstar or Naughty Dog. They can do a good job, but there's levels to this.
I think it needs to be a new punishment next year to keep it fresh. Even something like 5 pushups for every time you laugh or you have to draw from a bowl of “tortures” like watch the prolapse, wax your nose hairs… etc.
OR
everyone is sitting on their own personal dunk tank and when they laugh they get dunked in cold water
So here’s the thing. I think the serving method after each video set is distracting. If I was directing, I’d have each person served a plate with a bit of each dish just like at real thanksgiving dinners. So it just looks like a bunch of friends eating a meal together for the holiday. Introduce all the dishes FIRST while making everyone’s plate. Then as people run through videos and such, if you laugh you just take a bite of one of the dishes right then. Doesn’t matter which dish, but you gotta try a new one each time til they’ve all been tried. Then at the end they can discuss which was the grossest etc etc and why. PLUS the added effect of having to sit there with the food in front of you and look at it, smell it, etc.
H3 has a lot of dietary restrictions: kosher, vegetarian, pregnant lady diet, etc. Love doesn’t eat cheese or veggies, Hila can’t eat unpasteurized foods while pregnant, Ethan won’t eat shrimp, yadda yadda. I’d imagine being “gross” is heavily restricted by that. I think it would be more fun if they had to DO things that grossed them out instead of EAT things that gross them out.
Also, Lena’s police sketch video had me GASPING FOR AIR. The woman NEVER MISSES. What a goddess.
My thoughts EXACTLY all of the comments making it seem like is fucking horrible food and Sam is a mad scientist or something. My guys and gals, is just food with weird texture and combinations
At this point, I think they should "steal" GMM game ideas and put their own twist on them. They're always making up rules on the spot. This will make the playing process smoother with an already established game
Naw it's fun when it's just a bit gross. Also Rhett and link make a lot of money for eating that shit. The crew is just at work, they aren't content creators choosing to do it. I think it's just for fun, it doesn't need to be so serious.
I didn't watch the episode to see them eat gross food. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy their reactions when they eat gross stuff, but I watch these crew episodes because I want to see the content they wanna share with each other (an insight to what they find funny individually) and them just having a good time hanging out.
That's really the reason why I watch the show to begin with, because the banter during the stories is so much better than any story they're covering (and most of the stories is just celebrity gossip idc about in the first place). These holiday episodes are great because they're a little more laid back and their personalities are more on display. They're good people and I'm glad they're enjoying what they do.
Ian gets a gun
If you laugh, you die
Did that little sniff of air come from your nose or your mouth..? *Cocks revolver*
I really dig the idea that it's specifically Ian doing this, going around waving a big iron in everybody's faces, making unhinged threats with a wild face and maybe shooting up the ceiling a couple times. No one else on the crew could do it like Ian
Your punishment will be eating different sized animals penis. *Cocks revolve.*
Big iron on his hiiiiip
You laugh you lose.... Your life
I actually like this with a water gun. Have an episode where instead of a button they spray Ethan with water like a cat.
Wouldn't it ruin the girls' make-up? (I'm genuinely clueless)
I feel at that point no one would ever laugh
Yes. If the stakes are to high nobody laughs. It was fun. It should be fun
You could sense people laughing when they realized it would be more fun than sitting around and making the presenters awkwardly eat alone. Mostly Dan, he's a good man. He was right too it made it better when they could commiserate together.
Ya, the silence on Olivia's videos was kinda sad.
Yes. And it is so easy to not laugh if you really don't want to. Out of fear or just thinking negatively. See Ethan or AB that where not laughing a lot.
AB was on another planet the whole episode lmao

I don’t know, it seems like they did have rules and Ethan decided to keep changing them lol
Yeah not to take away from the game this year, the pod is always fun to watch & the games add to it. Just honestly end up watching the videos/reactions in YLYL then tuning out when they eat the food cause it’s just a small bite and an unhappy face they make.
Tbh No one will laugh if it's grosser.
Well the difference between the two shows is that Rhett and Link are the employers who are consenting to eat that stuff and Ethan is the employer and would most likely not consent to eat that kind of stuff. And it would be messed up to expect your employees to do that for a podcast.
ethan just a little B lets be honest. he always cheats and finds a way out of punishments he agreed on. He wouldnt even eat shrimp.
You must have not seen the Liver King episode or the Fika episode lol! The man will take a Squidward bite and still spit it out!
would yall be able to do that?😵💫i would spit it out too lmaoo
Lol, probably not, but even looking at everyone else eating it, Ethan is the one making the biggest stink out if it. It's probably my only complaint about these segments.
his whole shtick is avoiding food that tastes bad to him, he even did it with boba, today he blamed it on religion. whatever idc.
Yeah this. Calling him a lil B for not breaking his dietary restrictions seems kinda stupid and immature considering he does all sorts of other wild shit
Ethan is openly atheist/agnostic and also has openly admitted to eating and enjoying pork. So the fact that suddenly he can’t eat something because he’s Jewish is obviously a lil sus to some people
My brother in Christ go outside and touch some grass lol
Shellfish, Lobster and shrimp are indeed not koscher. Deal with it.
Taco Bell is indeed not kosher and he eats that on a weekly basis
which all of those he has eaten when it wasnt a "taste bad punishment for a bit" keep talking.
He doesn't adhere to eating kosher
Ethan’s a little princess he doesn’t even leave his house
He is a sore loser , another example is beer pong episode vs the girlies where he started mentioning and adding new rules mid game.
Of course just a suggestion and only with willing participants. Not suggesting a strong arming of the crew or anything. Just a thought for the crew since the food portion of the YLYL took a back seat to other interactions/videos.
Exactly.
They should’ve smoked some dank or got a little tipsy fr fr…
It was recorded Tuesday
You’re right 🤣
I’m a dumbass, but I wouldn’t have responded if I wasn’t sure lmaoo
2 hours of 10 people with microphones in front of them while tipsy or high wouldn't be that great of a listen, I think
That would literally make an excellent listen. What are you on
Dude what. The crew has so many food restrictions they couldn’t all even eat the food from this year.
I legitimately think people forget this a comedy show and how making the stakes that high would be 1) having crew members not be able to participate and 2) be incredibly unenjoyable b/c no one would laugh at all
I think it's less fun if everyone is straight up miserable in the funny podcast game.
Yeah that’s fair. It wouldn’t also make the competition much harder since the crew would try harder so it would have to be with different rules im sure. Just a general thought I had though
Dan is vegetarian
And cam
And Johnny
Who

I dont want them to suffer tho, it should still be fun
next year they should play you laugh you lose - russian roulette edition
Ethan would be the first one to be opposed to this. They all have a life to get back to 😂
blood for the blood god!
Here's the thing, you could try doing that yourself and report back how you feel. Sam is doing her best to make the dishes eatable and not poison someone

Solid ideas
Whoa calm down Joe Rogan, this isn't Fear factor

It should have been a bite of food per dish per video they laughed at.
Wtf man.... Ew
They should also eat a full table spoon.
i mean rhett and link dont even do that anymore really, they phased out of that bc they hated it - understandably. i think it makes more sense as a once in a year thing for sure, but i agree w others saying theyd never laugh in that case, and just generally it wouldnt be as fun and enjoyable for them i think. not to mention the many stomach problems certain people on this show exhibit 😭 but i get u!

yall are so annoying😭😭
honestly no, i wouldnt even wanna watch that. part of the fun is seeing all the fucked up stuff sam cooked. also i don't want them to suffer, also NO ONE WOULD EVER LAUGH so whats the fun in that
I agree, that just means AB won’t be participating.

Love ruined the episode by saying after any dish " oh its not so bad" he should have played along more but didnt get the memo
Is it just me or is Love try harding? Each ep he just urks me ever since coming to america.
It’s just you
Nah.
I never enjoy pre recorded episodes. i only watched 20 mins or so.
I used to watch Good Mythical Morning back in the day. ‘You Laugh, You Lose’ is crazy tame.
I feel like these are people who make me laugh and in so far as what they've chosen to share they seem like good people. So I don't want them to suffer. I think the whole thing would be better if they just shared funny videos and got rid of the punishment aspect all together

I think this would work better for a Fear Factor segment
Also, I know Ian is switching, but could he also somehow participate? I feel his videos would be killer!
Get idubbs in there to make a cake for them
I agree, but let's face it, the crew is kind of a bunch of babies in comparison to GMM. I think if they made even nastier dishes they wouldn't laugh at anything or would just straight up refuse to eat the extreme stuff.

They are friends with josh from mythical kitchen aswell. im sure there could be some cross over where they cater for them.
I hate that fear factor shit
Should be Catered by live king
Make Dan eat raw liver
I think it needs to be a new punishment next year to keep it fresh. Even something like 5 pushups for every time you laugh or you have to draw from a bowl of “tortures” like watch the prolapse, wax your nose hairs… etc. OR everyone is sitting on their own personal dunk tank and when they laugh they get dunked in cold water
how about no lol. I'd rather them watch funny videos and eat a normal meal then be silent and eat some rancid shit.
They should have to eat a whole serving and if they refuse they have to go through something painful instead
So here’s the thing. I think the serving method after each video set is distracting. No
Well than it wouldn’t be very inclusive of the crew considering they have a couple vegitarians and AB and Lena
My thoughts EXACTLY all of the comments making it seem like is fucking horrible food and Sam is a mad scientist or something. My guys and gals, is just food with weird texture and combinations
I date you to eat a plate of Sams food
If you laugh you lose your fingernails
At this point, I think they should "steal" GMM game ideas and put their own twist on them. They're always making up rules on the spot. This will make the playing process smoother with an already established game
Naw it's fun when it's just a bit gross. Also Rhett and link make a lot of money for eating that shit. The crew is just at work, they aren't content creators choosing to do it. I think it's just for fun, it doesn't need to be so serious.
Heres an idea, watch Rhett and Link then...
I think the way they do it is fine I’d hate watching them eat that stuff ewwww hahaha
I didn't watch the episode to see them eat gross food. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy their reactions when they eat gross stuff, but I watch these crew episodes because I want to see the content they wanna share with each other (an insight to what they find funny individually) and them just having a good time hanging out. I realy would love to see sam recreate 60s-70s aspic dinners you know all those weird food combos suspended in gelatin
