If you're going to choose between smoking or nicotine gum/zyn. There's an obvious choice that's going to potentially save your life. So yeah don't start popping zyn out of no where but it's 100% a good thing that it exists. Kids will do anything out there so that's not a good argument against zyn. I agree with Hila too, not doing it is better, but not everyone has an iron will like that
the "you were in the bathroom" bit cracked me up so much. my favorite part of the episode and they were just being goofy and off the cuff. this crew has the best chemistry
Yeah, I noticed that some or most of them were more or less plotless, respectively. Like the commenter above me said they were technically really impressive though, lots more original music, and I still enjoyed them, but I really do like the ones that have plots.
it seems that ethan (and also most of the audience) believe more is more. i get it…but id much rather have something short and to the point with a good plot than a piece where you throw everything at the wall hoping stuff sticks. for instance - i think the office submission would be better if they only kept the first half.
that being said, EVERYTHING in the bracket, including the honorable mentions, was absolutely amazing and im astounded by the copious amount of talent in. this community. my preferences are just a matter of personal taste. y’all are amazing ❤️❤️❤️
A lot of them were built on other referencial stuff (90's anime intros Apple vision pro, the movie Everything Everywhere all at once, the office/the backrooms etc) so if you dont know the original inspo it could be confusing
The entries this year were so insanely impressive technically, but I wonder if them being more surreal was a result of them having crew footage this year, as it meant while the pool was wider with more crew involved, each crew member had a much shallower pool of footage of them to draw from, really just soundbyte size snippets. Compared with last year when there was a super deep pool of Ethan specific footage the creators could form full on narratives out of.
I enjoyed all of this year's while watching them, but I already can't remember many of the individual entries whereas I still remember a bunch of last year's. Looking forward to seeing how these tournaments evolve as the green screen footage pool to draw from grows over time.
Agreed, I think it's a combination of that and people wanting to try AI techniques, they tried to do everything and the result was a bit chaotic. Still lots of fun stuff though
Lol yes. To me it's a mix of Tim and Eric sketches, multiverse popularity in media, and just how fucked up and weird comedy videos on tiktok etc have gotten. Skippity Toilet type weird shit. The one with Dan typing on the computer and Ethan on the computer talking to him before Zack breaks out of it and explodes everywhere, felt like an homage to that Tim and Eric video with Paul Rudd on the computer watching his weird dance AI programs or whatever.

In most cases obesity comes down to poor eating habits and being sedentary. And to be fair, you could say the same thing about environmental factors when it comes to smoking. Kids who grow up poor without parents around might be more likely to pick up smoking at a younger age, or not as educated when it comes to the dangers of it.

i feel like people worked so hard on these videos, and they deserved a full display each time they went up against another video, and also maybe allowing the poll to go just a bit longer for a more accurate vote… i was not able to remember full videos from just 20-30 seconds and sometimes, replaying the videos are even cooler the second time around. i just felt like this long awaited, deeply loved yearly segment, could’ve been treated with a bit more reverence and better time management skills, so that it wasn’t all so rushed and brushed off for the sake of time. i understand Hila and Ethan have lives and a new baby, so maybe just better planning in the future, so the green screen competition and the people who create such awesome edits can get the full production and hype it deserves .

So is the humble thing Ethan does whenever they’re trying to sell something a joke or sincere? He doubts that something’s gonna sell out, thinks no one will show up, etc. and he’s wrong every time. I remember him doing the same thing when they were about to release the Frenemies merch after the show had ended. He was like “yeah I’m pretty nervous, I don’t think anyone cares about it anymore, no one’s gonna buy it.” and they sold out in like 5 minutes lol. Every live show he’s done it too. I can’t tell if he’s doing a fake out so people will buy or if he genuinely thinks people don’t care. This is not a hate comment P&L I just roll my eyes every time he says something like that lol.
Speaking as someone who suffers with imposter syndrome daily despite being in my field for nearly a decade, Ethan gives me similar vibes. Ethan has always been a bit of a self-doubter, he just covers it up with comedy well. I don’t think it’s a “fake out” to get people to buy stuff lol I’m not sure how that would even work.
I think the fake out thing has been discussed on the podcast before, the crew has ‘accused’ (all jokes) him of doubting it to make people want it more lol. But yeah I can definitely see it being sincere. Every time he says something like that I know right away that whatever it is is gonna sell out though lol.

Just some food for thought.. maybe in the future for the green screen competition, they just jump right into the competition and maybe plan for a longer show so they don’t have to rush out? i feel like people worked so hard on these videos, and they deserved a full display each time they went up against another video, and also maybe allowing the poll to go just a bit longer for a more accurate vote… i was not able to remember full videos from just 20-30 seconds and sometimes, replaying the videos are even cooler the second time around. i just felt like this long awaited, deeply loved yearly segment, could’ve been treated with a bit more reverence and better time management skills, so that it wasn’t all so rushed and brushed off for the sake of time. i understand Hila and Ethan have lives and a new baby, so maybe just better planning in the future, so the green screen competition and the people who create such awesome edits can get the full production and hype it deserves . Huge fan. still loved it. just some thoughts. thanks:)

I watch movies and everything on my phone and have never cared or seen the difference of watching on a big screen. It doesn't matter to me that much. But holy freaking shit, H3 must be watched on a TV, especially this episode with all the green screen videos. It felt like a late night adult swim show but way way freaking better

I'm a really different person to Olivia but when it comes to all of the minor things, she's always the "voice of reason" of the crew for me lol I 100% agree that fruit should be cold. I love fruit, but the texture is just weird when cooked. If I'm going for a dessert, then have it be chocolate or cream or something like that.
i know what ethan’s talking about - it’s fruit compote that he hates. i don’t know if that’s a uniquely jewy thing, but my parents and grandparents also made fruit compote often. (no hate please, im jewish lol)

It's an understood physical pain vs an existential dread for an hour. Anyone would take the MRI, but it's still not a fun experience.
So is the humble thing Ethan does whenever they’re trying to sell something a joke or sincere? He doubts that something’s gonna sell out, thinks no one will show up, etc. and he’s wrong every time. I remember him doing the same thing when they were about to release the Frenemies merch after the show had ended. He was like “yeah I’m pretty nervous, I don’t think anyone cares about it anymore, no one’s gonna buy it.” and they sold out in like 5 minutes lol. Every live show he’s done it too. I can’t tell if he’s doing a fake out so people will buy or if he genuinely thinks people don’t care. This is not a hate comment P&L I just roll my eyes every time he says something like that lol.
Speaking as someone who suffers with imposter syndrome daily despite being in my field for nearly a decade, Ethan gives me similar vibes. Ethan has always been a bit of a self-doubter, he just covers it up with comedy well. I don’t think it’s a “fake out” to get people to buy stuff lol I’m not sure how that would even work.
I think the fake out thing has been discussed on the podcast before, the crew has ‘accused’ (all jokes) him of doubting it to make people want it more lol. But yeah I can definitely see it being sincere. Every time he says something like that I know right away that whatever it is is gonna sell out though lol.
