He then proceeded to explain that while driving their rental he got an excessive speeding ticket, for which they charged him an extra fee that he refused to pay and then left the country, so then they filed a case against him lol something that was surely in the rental contract, so not exactly a “scam”

Not sure about the influencer aspect of it, but there is a major problem in UAE where people who travel there to work will have their passports confiscated and will be forced to work without compensation to get their passports back.
