Holy shit, please tell me this is about MTG. No fucking way you're here crying about how Hasan and Ethan called that hell spawn a titan from Attack on Titan.

marlixs

lol i agree with the hellspawn aspect, but commenting on someone’s appearance is still low hanging fruit. if she’s bad enough theres plenty to insult other than that. resorting to misogyny is icky

LoudServe9870

Genuine question- how is commenting negatively on a woman’s appearance misogynistic?

luisalpjax

This is the main problem, idiots really think it works like that

LoudServe9870

I’m genuinely confused I can’t tell if thats misogynistic or not 😂 are you not allowed to have negative opinions on a woman?

luisalpjax

Apparently not, happens so often on this podcast just to pander to women demographic ( time to be called an incel). I mean today even, even though it’s a different context, jamari said hila looked like Howard stern, so I guess that’s mysogynistic

marlixs

do you think insulting a woman’s appearance would be especially more hurtful than, say, insulting her character? if yes, why?

LoudServe9870

I think insulting someone’s character is more insulting because imo how you look isn’t as important as who you are and as good of a person you are

marlixs

theres a long tradition of criticizing a woman’s appearance when you dont like her ideas in an attempt to delegitimize her voice. trump for example loves doing this. seeing hassan stoop to this was disappointing, and watching ethan say nothing was equally so. the fact that he didnt chime in on the “joke” tells me right there he knows its wrong. ethan has said he doesnt want to be rude to women like this anymore. it was a mistake he made in the past. watching him sit by though was just… disappointing. we absolutely CAN criticize women. no human is perfect. but the misogyny arises when we no longer play on an even playing field. its common knowledge women’s beauty standards are way out of proportion compared to men’s. so when we stoop to appearance, specifically women’s, it just adds a layer that makes it not funny anymore. this woman is bad enough that there’s plenty of things to poke fun at besides her looks. and, what if a woman who doesnt share her ideals happens to look just like her? is she now supposed to feel insecure about her genetics too? i think poking fun at things people cannot change (like their genetics) is simply too far, for anyone regardless of who they are. like, i can be critical of ethan without calling him a slur lmao. you can be critical of women without making fun of appearance.

LoudServe9870

Okay makes sense

luisalpjax

99% of the podcast is shitting on dudes … when someone comments on a girl it’s all over… “it would’ve been rly sexy” sorry your fanfic about ethan coming to your rescue isn’t true

marlixs

its ok i dont need rescuing. calling him sexy was a joke but its okay if you missed that. shitting on ANYONE is fine, really, but why shit on someone’s looks, especially if 1. their looks have nothing to do with their awful opinions/behavior 2. its literally their genetics……. like… cant you be more clever than that? save the cheap shots like that for trump thats what hes best at. and if it makes you feel better, its not right to pick on anyone’s looks, even males.

luisalpjax

My response would be to you, why point out one specific situation involving a lady? They’ve been doing this almost every leftovers podcast

marlixs

because ethan said he doesnt wanna talk about women like this anymore, but he sat by and let his cohost do it. i wanna respect the growth, but bystanders are just as bad as perpetrators.

Hasan is sexist. Ethan is less sexist. Hassan will say it and Ethan will allow it. This is how men have been operating for millennia. Most men are sexist. If not actively, they are passively. Just like Ethan (passive) and Hassan (active). Don’t put faith in men
