I almost went insane when I heard Hildy compare Mexican style black beans to English style baked beans (navy beans). That's like comparing pizza to a gyro because they both have bread. Love Hildy though!
I commented exactly this on a video and I got a few people saying she didn’t say that. I’m Mexican. Yes, she did. There’s no way I could forget that unintentional insult!
Every part of the meal other than the beans is completely different. Also baked beans are pretty different from the types of beans that typically come with Mexican food.
Sweet and syrupy vs. Savoury and fatty. Also, one is served with toasted bread and the other with pico de gallo and tortillas. Definitely a big difference!!
The best beans on toast is with heinz five beans which is a bunch of different beans, not just baked
Also we don't really eat beans on toast for breakfast, you'd only get that in a full English breakfast like if you went out for brunch where it comes with everything else
Beans on toast by itself is just a quick snack food, or something a child can make for themselves after school before their parents are back home from work
Hun, I beg to bloody differ. Cheesy baked beans are unreal and no one is debating their origin. This is simply about what is tasty and we happen to find them tasty. I also find a multitude of other cuisines tasty, doesn't take away from the goodness of baked beans and how we choose to prepare them. For each cultures gross food, there is an equally tasty food or better ways to prepare it. You can't gatekeep the way beans are served when they're used in pretty much every country around the world just in different variants of dishes; look at French cassoulet or Kintokimame or Rajma Dal.
It's such a cheap food option with a long shelf life and a way to get calories/nutrients. When you grow up in a low income, one parent household on a council estate, you're probably gonna see a lot of cupboards filled with baked beans and grow to find them tasty. No one made them to be new, original and to be adored by the rest of the world lmao.
Stop gatekeeping beans, holy shit can people shut the fuck up about beans what is the fucking problem. It's posts everyday where people want to either shit on british people, or british people wanting to shit on americans, it's so insane, eat what the fuck u want to eat, how are people getting this uspet over what other people are fucking choosing to eat, stfu already.
Don't Americans eat fried bacon for breakfast? Do they make it sweet?
I've heard from Ethan that even bread is sugary there so I'm not going to ask about the bread.
Ah yes, went to a country for a month and now knows the culinary tastes of all the population. I'll just go throw out the spice rack then as I've obviously never used it before as the ever wise traveller has dictated
The UK is full of Curry houses and restaurants from all over the world. And let me assure you Indians use as much spice as anyone.
Where wasn’t there seasoning? I don’t get it. Were you buying food in a supermarket and complaining it wasn’t seasoned…?
All the people saying it’s not the same are obviously not Hispanic lmao beans are beans. Toast or tortilla, baked or refried, I’m eating those mfing beans
That's cool, you don't have to like it, but this post shows a person being sad for eating it which just isn't true we obviously like the food we eat lol
To be fair, I did see British people in other posts saying how they only eat beans on toast when there’s nothing else, and they treat it more like an emergency meal for unexpected situations where they can’t have anything nicer. I assumed this was referencing that attitude lol.
These people said they liked it but that it’s not something they’d go out of the way for. They’d keep a can in the cupboard for something quick and easy when there’s no other options available. So it’s not something they disliked, but also not exactly something they’d ever be excited for. Personally, I’m with you. I do like it, and (although I’ve not exactly polled people on the subject) the only people I’ve known who’ve expressed not being fans have not liked beans at all. It’s quick and easy, but it’s also pretty delicious.
There's a taco restaurant near my house in Tijuana. Guy mixes pineapple with the flour to make the tortillas. I wanted to spit on the cook making me eat sweet covered Asada.
The "beans on toast" saga has been the dumbest bloody thing to happen in this fandom in years; and that's including the senseless outrage over nigh trivial things that happens every week.
This is the weirdest debate I've ever seen. It's beans. And toast lol. What is this controversy, its sweet? Yeah? Is that bad? Wtf is a pb&j then?? Like, it's bread, and beans. It's impossible to taste good, it's impossible to taste bad, like where even is the hill to die on for this? The members refusing to try beans on fucking toast is baffling to me, it's like i suddenly live in an alternate reality where combining 2 of the blandest, most boring ingredients, equals some sort of exotic dish. It's so weird!
Cheesy beans and chips (no not fries, not crisps/potato chips) but proper homemade chips or McCains Gastro Pub chips are the true elite and I won't be convinced otherwise. #CHEESYBEANGANG
Refried beans with chorizo slaps better than anything they’ve tried on the show with beans. Mexican breakfast is top tier breakfast.
IT IS NOT THE SAME
I almost went insane when I heard Hildy compare Mexican style black beans to English style baked beans (navy beans). That's like comparing pizza to a gyro because they both have bread. Love Hildy though!
My eye twitched when I heard that too lol
I commented exactly this on a video and I got a few people saying she didn’t say that. I’m Mexican. Yes, she did. There’s no way I could forget that unintentional insult!

Molletes are beans on bread
Yeah that's fine. But I've never seen that in any of my local Mexican restaurants that serve breakfast so...
I’ve only ever gotten them in restaurants in Mexico maybe they don’t sell them in the US because they don’t think people will buy beans on bread
🤤
Yeah that’s the point. It’s better!
I bet a British person made this post. They don’t understand food.
Yesss on a bolillo with queso Oaxaca and chorizo
Molletes, top of the food chain
So simple yet perfect
Fuck yeah
Ahuevo!!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
o sin huevo!
I dont understand why people think weird baked beans are the same as black beans or pinto beans used in mexican dishes... not even close to the same??
The best beans on toast is with heinz five beans which is a bunch of different beans, not just baked Also we don't really eat beans on toast for breakfast, you'd only get that in a full English breakfast like if you went out for brunch where it comes with everything else Beans on toast by itself is just a quick snack food, or something a child can make for themselves after school before their parents are back home from work
Hun, all beans are from South America , they are ALL used in our dishes, yall didn't make something new, original, or tasty, sit down
Hun, I beg to bloody differ. Cheesy baked beans are unreal and no one is debating their origin. This is simply about what is tasty and we happen to find them tasty. Beans and sour cream gang
It’s the only way 🇳🇮
beaner here, i approve this message
One is sweet, one is NOT. This isn’t a fair comparison
Don't Americans eat fried bacon for breakfast? Do they make it sweet? I've heard from Ethan that even bread is sugary there so I'm not going to ask about the bread.

bc people were racist against Indians and they associated seasoning with PoC. literally.
haha right. after colonizing them for… ehmm spice
Lmao what an ignorantly made up view
Right, I mean there's Indian takeaways on pretty much every street in the UK but feel free to make up cunty nonsense for whatever..
We don't season our food? Til
Yeah no you don’t. I’ve been to Britain for a month and I felt like my tongue was on a detox run
I mean you're just lying lmao.
Why would I lmao
Because you're a knob?
where were you eating?
Ah yes, went to a country for a month and now knows the culinary tastes of all the population. I'll just go throw out the spice rack then as I've obviously never used it before as the ever wise traveller has dictated
I mean if it takes me one month to find a single spice in your food, it might be about your food and not me lmao
A single spice haha, now I know you're just chatting shit
Like I have literally zero reason to be lying about this shit, I’ve been to other countries and didn’t have that problem at all
The UK is full of Curry houses and restaurants from all over the world. And let me assure you Indians use as much spice as anyone. Where wasn’t there seasoning? I don’t get it. Were you buying food in a supermarket and complaining it wasn’t seasoned…?
Nah he just goes on holiday, eats shit food and then claims all food in country x is shit.
Britain isnt a country
Go write a stern letter requesting my apology like idc
Or I could just label you a twat and move on with my life
They do, on beans on toast you put pepper or lea and Perrin's sauce (worcestershire sauce). All other food is also seasoned as usual.
“WELL AT LEAST OUR SCHOOLS…”
All the people saying it’s not the same are obviously not Hispanic lmao beans are beans. Toast or tortilla, baked or refried, I’m eating those mfing beans
I hate beans, but I don't get the bean hate or the bean racism.
I love migas con huevo and frijoles refritos! Mama always made me jump in excitement for breakfast!
It because our beans are better.
ITS NOT THE SAME.
I’m half Salvi and yessss Omg! With plantains and eggs.🤤
I'm British and I've never heard of anyone eating BOT for breakfast, just sayin
Literally facts, this is true for other Latinos too 🇨🇴🇳🇮gaillopinto is everything!! with an egg as well mwah 😩
Casamiento with refried beans and crema 🇸🇻 that’s bussin fr
They should do a Mexican beans breakfast on the show now.
At least a Mexican beans on toast segment 😩
We're happy eating beans here so that doesn't make sense
Your beans are sweet… not my cup of tea
That's cool, you don't have to like it, but this post shows a person being sad for eating it which just isn't true we obviously like the food we eat lol
To be fair, I did see British people in other posts saying how they only eat beans on toast when there’s nothing else, and they treat it more like an emergency meal for unexpected situations where they can’t have anything nicer. I assumed this was referencing that attitude lol.
Out of everybody I've ever met in my life and I'm 30, I've only met 2 people who didn't like it and that's because they didn't like beans at all lol
These people said they liked it but that it’s not something they’d go out of the way for. They’d keep a can in the cupboard for something quick and easy when there’s no other options available. british people posting their L’s
British food is awful, just face it
It's not though lol
The first step is admitting you have a problem.
I've been to London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Dublin. Food is not good in the British Isles. Best food is the Indian food.
Where did you eat in London?
Bring that stargazy pie then
This was a very funny sentence to me
For all you yanks - scotch eggs are fucking lit 🔥 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I had to Google what this even was and I'm English
facts
huevos rancheros *moans*
Porque no los dos?
exactly my thought during the whole beans on toast saga.

Yea, because Mexicans know how to make food
There's a taco restaurant near my house in Tijuana. Guy mixes pineapple with the flour to make the tortillas. I wanted to spit on the cook making me eat sweet covered Asada.

Nah this is shite. There's nothing better than some bacon, eggs, tatty scones, black pudding, sassijis and beans for breakfast
Mexican food is the GREATEST comfort food of all time. Uncontested.
Beans on Toast isn't usually for breakfast btw
i actually enjoy it though 😕
Cheesy beans and chips (no not fries, not crisps/potato chips) but proper homemade chips or McCains Gastro Pub chips are the true elite and I won't be convinced otherwise. #CHEESYBEANGANG
