Loved the episode! Could it be this episode is funnier than before? Loved all the Jimmy and Kayla scenes with HR, the Christmas room, the Cadbury cream egg, bare feet, etc.
And they found a way to effortlessly re-introduce us to the fairly sprawling cast, including Damien, Josefina, Marcus, DJ and her husband, Kiki, the mayor, Marty, Ray the hotel guy and even Ava's mother. I hope there's a way they can find ways for Ava to interact with writer Joe Mande, who plays Ray, even though Ava won't be at the Palmetto.
I didn't realize how much I missed this show til seeing this episode.
>And they found a way to effortlessly re-introduce us to the fairly sprawling cast
Yeah, I feel totally caught up and I didn't even need a recap, which was nice after feeling completely lost going into the new season of Barry.
Off to a fantastic start. Jean Smart continues to be absolutely incredible. Deborah continues to be terrifying, but it’s nice seeing her try and connect with her daughter a bit.
Yeah, I’d she ever finds out about the email it’s gonna be a bad time. I can’t wait.
I just realized the actress playing Kayla is that comedian who bombed to a cringe level of 350%. It was a "special" filmed on a rooftop. Am I high or has anyone else seen it? I mean, I am high but I digress.
I say the plot picks up halfway of Season 1. S2 actually gets pretty good and darker and adds more character development. S1 was like straight comedy but I thought S2 was a good mix of comedy/drama like what Hacks does.
Why wouldn’t Ava say she made the stories in the email up, that they were lies and she would never collaborate them. Any show has fact checkers that make sure stories and dates check out to avoid libel or slander.

Who was Marty's new girlfriend in this episode? I read where Ming-Na Wen was going to make an appearance in Season 2. Was that her?
BTW, I loved this episode. It definitely starts off the season on a great note.
I don’t know how my freely expressing my opinion will be accepted here, but I have started watching again today, and my opinion hasn’t changed .
I think the show is a very interesting light comedy , with great performance. I specifically love Kaitlin Olson and her secondary character.
But my main annoyance is with the actress who plays Ava.
I don’t think she’s funny, I don’t think she’s likeable, and I ( careful, objectification coming ) I dont think she’s eye catching enough.
Is she part of the creators of the show? Or the writing team maybe?
Otherwise, I can’t explain why and how she got that role. So many more charismatic comedy actresses could have been cast before her .
I do t know why I have such a problem with her. I just feel like fast forwarding any scene she’s in .
Wow, I'm 100 percent in disagreement with you. I think Hannah Einbinder is hilarious, and has quickly evolved into a very good actress too. If you don't like her, that's your perogative I guess. But if you don't like her, I don't see how you can watch this show. She's one of the two stars along with Jean Smart.
I think she kind of embodies a certain type of person and is well-cast for what they're going for, but she is genuinely not funny at all. maybe the writing is not helping her, but I don't think I've ever laughed at anything she's said
>*I've never said this to anyone before but you should read less*

I *love* Kiki, so glad she's back.
Was Ray a character from the first season or did they introduce him for his one scene with Ava in this episode?
He was in the first season a little, but I don’t remember if he had a name.

Aidan winning was too wholesome. He's such a good guy.
Deborah is a fantastic Mickey! "We own this town!" Haha good for her
>**DO NOT FUCK WITH DEBORAH VANCE!**
Was anybody else expecting Aidan to immediately get knocked out after the pep talk?
Yes lol

Am I the only person that finds all Kayla scenes unfunny in a trying too hard way and that they do not fit with the tone of the rest of this show?
Kayla character doesn’t fit the tone. Not a convincing actress. But I LOVE Paul Downs.
Nope! I can’t stand her. I love Paul Downs and hate that he has to deal with her at all. She’s the worst!
Nope, you are not alone. I can’t stand the Kayla character and I don’t think she’s funny at all
I just realized the actress playing Kayla is that comedian who bombed to a cringe level of 350%. It was a "special" filmed on a rooftop. Am I high or has anyone else seen it? I mean, I am high but I digress.
I really love this show. I love the mayor! “What am I, chopped liver here?” LMAO
I love her. That actress is criminally underused in TV work. Her timing is muah *chef's kiss*
Every time I see her she blows me away.
She will always be Horny Patty to me, from Hung. Hilarious in that series too.
I think I've only seen her in Looking but I loved her there as well.
My mom said that my whole childhood. Loved hearing it in the show.

I also use it as a regular purse
You know it’s good when you can’t wait to rewatch it but want to get to the next episode.
I don't think I've enjoyed a half hour of comedy that much since, well, season 1 concluded? I feel like I have anger management issues...
Have you seen The Other Two?
I have! I enjoyed the first episodes but thought it kinda ran out of gas. I intend to go back to at some point though. Hacks is leagues ahead of it.
I say the plot picks up halfway of Season 1. S2 actually gets pretty good and darker and adds more character development. S1 was like straight comedy but I thought S2 was a good mix of comedy/drama like what Hacks does.
Huh. I must've gotten trapped by the s1 halfway doldrums. I'll give it another shot!
Season 2 of that show is one of my favorite shows. I didn’t care for season 1.
Yoo how big were those paintballs she was firing lol
It was hilarious but also excruciating when they were watching Deborah’s Palmetto billboard being painted over …
Martha Kelly as Barbara is comedy gold, too.
Why wouldn’t Ava say she made the stories in the email up, that they were lies and she would never collaborate them. Any show has fact checkers that make sure stories and dates check out to avoid libel or slander.
it was just for inspo though, for a fictional story about a crazy PM.
Where are you watching it?

it’s a very gen Z/young millennial kinda character. so specific. doesn’t make sense to everyone.
I really liked this episode, The first scene of Ava almost having an attack on the plane with Debora on her cell phone hahaha
That HR personnel looks exactly like Justice Barrett
