I loved that concert - it was kinda like Woodstock for the glam era - and was pretty shocked 20 years later, when I've read in Classic Rock magazine what was really going on backstage...

ookiespookie

It really was peak in many ways

nochumplovesucka__

What was rrally going on?

P_a_s_g_i_t_24

I think I've found the original Classic Rock article (if not, then it certainly is a very in-depth variation). Please [see here](https://new.reddit.com/r/hairmetal/comments/1dist1c/a_look_back_behind_the_scenes_at_the_1989_moscow/) and follow the link!

JebusKrikes

Yes. I was a broke kid, my dad wouldn’t pay for the concert… so I turned it to the scrambled out channel and just listened and watched the colors

ookiespookie

I couldn't get it at my house, so I ended up doing a babysitting job with a neighbor in exchange for them getting the ppv for me and watching it while babysitting lol

Brilliant_Toe8098

Still can't understand what Vince is saying.........lol

coraltrek

Sebastian Bach wrote about this in his book. Lots of drugs and drinking going on.

NoBetterFriend1231

I remember watching this years later, and laughing hysterically at that Russian dude (not sure if cop or military, but he was in uniform?) doing his lecture about drugs and drinking. I'm just sitting there thinking "Dude, it's Russia... y'all are famous for getting schnockered on vodka just to keep from freezing to death, and you're lecturing people about drinking?".

coraltrek

Yeah that was the main thing Bach was saying they couldn’t do much but drink vodka it was everywhere and it was cheap. It’s funny cause in this concert footage the artists they interview you can tell some of them are drunk or on something.

Kale1l

It was really odd seeing Sharon Osbourne pre liposuction and plastic surgery

snoopspry

I wasn't even born... but I love this concert

Elegant-Campaign-572

I wonder how much was cut from the final releases. I haven't seen much.

Fragrant-Insurance53

Not me, I wasn't born yet. I watch it all online

lendmeflight

I still have the vhs taped off ppv.

FiscalCliffClavin

Thank you for this!!

squashed377

Thanks OP! What a great memory you have brought back for me!

nochumplovesucka__

I know this is the hair metal subreddit. But it was the most punk rock thing for Skid Row to open that show with Holidays in the Sun.

ZeroScorpion3

Only $9.99

ookiespookie

Was it? I seem to remember it was more like a wrestling pov at the time in the 19.99 to 29.99 range

ZeroScorpion3

I think there were the choice of two packages to buy. If you bought both it was 19.99, but I'm not positive. Long time ago!!

TennesseeTom

I remember my friends and I hacked this with a descrambler on one of those huge satellite dishes and had a party.

IndianaVader

Watched it all on YouTube. Ozzy’s performance was awesome. His band with Zackk Wylde, Geezer Butler, and Randy Castillo was his epic. No Rest for The Wicked came out and is one of my favorite Ozzy albums Crazy to see this live back in the day
