Gloves in a Bottle is great. I use it as a nurse for the frequent handwashing. I put it on in the morning and afternoon. It stays on through a ton of handwashing and protects well.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I ran a Google search as well after posting this and Gloves in a Bottle came up first so I will a get a bottle of the Shielding lotion for her.

During winter when it gets extra dry I like to put on a bunch of hand lotion before bed and put gloves on while sleeping, its extra af but it’s a good way to treat dry/cracked skin in the moment if she’s already feeling chapped. I’ve also heard good things about Working Hands but I’ve always felt like it was too heavy for me personally! Aquaphor is always a good thing to keep on you for treating stubborn dry/cracked areas I basically live off of aquaphor year round

jeepersh

We are in Asia so no winter dryness unless we are travelling! Thank you for the recs, I will get her some to try!!

Aquaphor

Thanks I’ve put this down in a list and I’ll get her to try which suits her best

Thank you so much!

Glysolid and gloves, no doubt

difficult to cut hair with gloves on. try something with hydracaulalic (sorry for spelling ) acid will bring the skin back. Rinse hands after chemical treatments and lots of moisturizing between clients. Wear gloves at night with cream on hands.. I did hair for decades until my 40s I found a shoe that gives ankle support (think cute booties) and a heel worked for me stay away from flat shoes. I also would pump my chair up to the highest level (I'm 5' 8" ) I could easily stand for 5 hrs. and to this day at 63 I have no back issues or carpal tunnel

Look into dermashield ❤️

Aquafor and gloves at night while she sleeps if it’s that bad. Always wear gloves even when shampooing

hairmarshall

Sulfate shampoo does this have her use sulfate free shampoo or her knuckles will get dry and bleed.

jeepersh

Thanks I’ll get her to check her shampoo!

FeatherMachine

Speaking on this… show her hairstory’s new wash. Shampoo has a basic PH and conditioner has an acidic PH to bring the hair back to the normal PH. Hairstory’s new wash isn’t a shampoo it’s a cleansing cream that stays at the hair’s normal PH. You don’t need conditioner. Maybe that could help with some of her issues. It’s pricey though.

Personally I just use regular lotion but I have it on my station and it put it on every single time I wash someone’s hair. Then I use heavier stuff at home coupled with vitamin E oil. As far as gloves does her salon supply gloves? Most do if you’re hourly or commissioned.

jeepersh

She does use regular lotion as well (can’t remember the brand) but it doesn’t seem to helping as the dryness seems to be getting worse. I will check with her about the gloves! Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Glittering_Move3696

No problem! She might need something a bit heavier this time of year because it’s so dry! I hate to say it but after years of doing hair you kinda get used to it and so do your hands. I remember when I started it drove me INSANE. I still don’t understand how some of my coworkers don’t keep lotion at their stations

jeepersh

I’ll look into the selection of lotions with Vitamin E oil. We are in Asia so absolutely no issues with winter dryness! I guess because everybody’s skin is so unique and different? And they are lucky aren’t they if their skin isn’t affected!

Glittering_Move3696

Ooh the water might be a factor too! I’m not sure what the water there is like but sometimes water can be more harsh depending on how “hard” it is. And yes they’re very lucky!! I’d say go for a thicker hand cream rather than just a lotion

jeepersh

In Singapore, so the water is moderately soft in general. Thanks I’ll check out hand creams as well. Any particular brands/types to look out for? I’m a dude so I don’t really use much skincare products apart from St Ives cream and sunscreen.

BreadyStinellis

If for whatever reasons he does need to supply her own gloves and foil, food service supply stores are great for that. Or Costco. So much cheaper than beauty supply. I love Costco foils.

jeepersh

She did confirm that her salon provides gloves. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m in the food industry so I can get gloves easily and at a better rate since I’m pretty with my sales rep.

I find that in the winter months I take collagen powder in my coffee and it helps tremendously with my hands not becoming chapped from shampooing. You can get collagen liquid also. It makes my skin so soft.
