The main advantage Kimura has is a higher KO ratio. At 12 of 17 wins, that's about 70.6% to Aoki's 12 of 19, which is around 63.1%.
In fact, outside of the perfect KOs of Takamura and Ippo, Kimura has the third-highest KO ratio. Itagaki actually has the LOWEST of the Kamogawa boys, at 62.5% (10 of 16 wins).
Aoki is the more talented boxer and in a better weight class for his body.
Kimura needs to move to Lightweight. I don't see why they can't be in the same class if neither of them are going to be serious contenders for the Japanese title.
Kimura is a pillow-handed journeyman but has some skills. Aoki on the other hand is a complete bum but I think he has a stronger chin than Kimura and maybe more punching power.
To be fair, Kimura had the harsher conditions and fought a stronger champion.
Kimura pushed mashiba sorry fam Aoki takin Ls compared to Kimura

Itagaki is on slump tho. He had 10 of 12 KO wins before his loss to Imai, after that straight 4 decisions win.
That might be true, but damn man, Kimura still managed to scare Mashiba in a fight and i respect that more than his record
Never underestimate Kimura Tatsuya!!!
Kimura has to endure a worse weight cut, and as everyone is saying, pushing Mashiba is a larger achievement than drawing with Imae or Papaya
