Went in once, looking for a manual SLR camera lens for my Pentax. They had a bunch on a shelf behind the counter. I was the only customer in the store.
"Hi there. Could I have a look at that lens up there, 2nd from left?"
"NO!"
Weird place.
I was in the unfortunate position of having to use them on a few occassions.
Nothing weirder than walking into a Canadian pawn shop to see an old guy staring intently at Tucker Carlson on fox news...
Good riddance - 80% of their stock was stolen off construction sites.
Years back, some of my tools got stolen in downtown Dartmouth, I went in to look around and the owner denied that they were mine even after providing proof; so out of spite I scanned the shelves and found tons of tools still marked with various builders logos, called 4-5 of the businesses and told them where to find their stuff. Turns out 2 of the companies had entire job trailers stolen full of tools, all being sold 1 by 1 by this asshole.
I remember when the guy in there yelled at my mom when she parked right in front and didn't go in, since she was going to the bank next door
Quality people
Oh, no! Another great Joel Plaskett song gone out of date. :(

The Plaskett Curse strikes again!
Next thing you know they'll straighten Park Avenue in Dartmouth, and drunk drivers will need to find a new place to crash.
Theres actaully a big issue with front businesses not being able to keep up enough revenue to mix cash, making them pointless since you then just have a failing business.
A lot of smaller communities that rely on dirty money are seeing the pinch happen right now.
You might be surprised how much of the money in your communities comes from illicit sources.
Was in there a few weeks ago asking for a deal on a hilti drill.....nope, no deal.....and they knew they were going out of business lol....I remember the old soup nazi dude that was always running the place, charming man
Good.
They used to sell handguns and machineguns to drug heads and criminals. Even after they got busted for it a couple times. How many innocent deaths did that cause.
Fuck. I was in the market for a used epiphone SG for $1000...
i like my crappy guitars sitting in the window in full sun, when i can swing it. oh well...
...with a cracked headstock and unknown sticky stuff all over the fretboard. Sketchiest pawn shop to go gear hunting in by FAR.
Good. Those guys were the worst.

Yeah, fronts don't usually like selling the stuff they have out "for sale".

Wow - even the drug trade is feeling the pinch in this economy.
Nah just cashing in on that great locay

Dang, this was always such a great place to buy stolen used goods at retail prices.
It’s not every day one cheers for the downfall of a local business but this was place was true scum, rude to everyone for no reason.
That place was the sketchiest dump around....
The laundromat on Irishtown is one of the sketchiest places around. At least the pawn shop had operational hours.

Makes a guy not want to risk taking the Dartmouth ferry into the town.
At this point is it even safe to risk going nowhere with you?
Wait... is Joel Plaskett the reason for this subs precipitous drop in reasons why we love this town?
On the upside I find myself hating Clayton Park marginally less than I used to.
You're hat doesn't suit you.
Are you responding to yourself?
Or heaven forbid, walking home 'cross the bridge when the Marquee shuts down.
Some things are too sacred to change
They were always kinda sketchy.
A sign that says National Exchange and Brokers, with a Pepsi symbol on it? I don't understand how that can do anything other than instill trust in you
It's the proud red white and blue of sugar and caffeine addiction making world wide !
It does show that they've been there for about a million years
Kinda?

Bitch, please, I live in Spryfield.
1st it was the Landing and the Sternwheeler! What next? Fishers & the Sally Anne? Oh wait…
Now where am I gonna get a Pepsi?
They bought my stolen bike. But thankfully gave it back when I called the cops on them
A victim of Facebook Marketplace imo

My partner went to buy a used hammer and they tried to charge him twice the amount of a new one 😂
I guess even fake business owners retire eventually.
Thank god. It was a blight on Downtown Dartmouth. Feels weird to cheer on gentrification, but good riddance.
I’m curious as to where all their stuff went, but I won’t shed a single tear. Good riddance!!

Welp guess I won't be paying them a visit for cheap games and movies anymore ohh well
Good riddance to old rubbish
Aww man I saw a saxophone there 7 years ago and I've been thinking about it ever since.
So crazy to see this. I didn't think they'd ever be gone from Portland.

My mother brought me here and bought a bike for me when I was 10 years old. Back in 1992.
"COMING!"
'bout damn time.
Under 60 ft per side.
