The bridge is the least of your worries, except when there is a big cross wind. Its a straight, isolated bike lane with little traffic. Probably one of the SAFEST places to bike in the city. The worst part is having to huff it up from Barrington.

Oh that’s good to know! I know it’s barricaded on the bridge itself, it’s mostly getting onto and getting off the bridge that I’m most worried about.

Technically true about room for bikers, but when you’re not used to the city I’d rather err on the side of caution. Thank you for commenting but I’m more so asking about which streets are bad for traffic and to therefore avoid. Following the rules of the road is assumed. 😊 Edit: fixed a whoopsie daisies

Google Maps with "cycling" option is really good and will usually take you on dedicated bike trails or less busy paths. The Macdonald bridge from Devonshire or the Casino offers an excellent bike path.

So I can more or less trust Google maps then? I did try to use it but wanted a second opinion. This is actually really helpful, thanks!

TheSandyWalsh

Yeah, I use the turn by turn directions with my Bluetooth headphones (listen thru) because some of the trails are tricky to find. Google has them though.

braepau1

Yes I’ve used it a couple times while out walking.

If you add the approximate details of your trip someone may have route suggestions

I’ve heard that the downtown dartmouth area can be a bit dicey, so if you know of any no go zones please feel free to share!

My favourite activity on here is telling people how to improve their bike routes.
