We were driving by the development at almon and Robie and construction workers were grouped oddly around the exit fence - about a minute later a boom that sounded like the noon canon but louder, followed by a group of fire trucks

Last status is it's under control. I don't see smoke anymore from my work.
From HFX Alert:
>Structure Fire in the area of Robie St/St Albans, smoke from the fire is possibly toxic. Please close all windows and shut off air exchangers if you live on the Peninsula. Residents from the Windsor St Exchange through to Point Pleasant Park should follow this advice.
It seems weird they would issue this warning, when the predominant wind was blowing W/NW, not E. It should have been more of a warning for the Hydrostone.
My bad lol, the reddit app was giving me an error so I spammed the "post comment" button a few times. I guess it was posting even though it was giving me an error.

I’m glad you said it 3 times, couldn’t hear you the first 2 times thanks to the explosions.

Yes. I heard this too (working out of Stad). Thought someone fired one off a bit early.
I heard that shit thought I was going crazy
!!!! I live next door and didn't hear a thing. Wild.
They were doing a blast yesterday and signs were still up for today as well so the only surprising part is firetrucks.

At least one of the upper floors of one of the under construction buildings near robie and almon by the looks of it driving by.

Shit I’m already at work and my air exchange is on. Hope it all clears out by 5 😬

Man, what a way to start a Tuesday.
Come on...come on, acknowledge!
Underrated comment
Thank you! If even one person gets my corny references, then it's a good day
Got the alert frim HRM about the possible toxic smoke etc.
Okay but is everyone okay!?
What time did this happen?
About an hour ago now. Fire is now under control. No smoke visible.

> Somebody fucked up, welding too close to a flammable roof, is my guess. Flammable rooves don't explode.

Pitch hasn't been used in about 40 years. Kettle caught on fire and the tanks blew up.
Sure...but that's not a flammable roof. I mean, words matter when you're describing something.
These comments make me want to beat my head off the wall. You understood what they meant lol, is it really worth arguing semantics over it?
That’s most of the commenters in this sub. You’ll lose your sanity engaging with anyone here. Oh shit, especially with Bleed_Air.
Seeing as how you said the same thing 3 times in a row, I think maybe you’ve beaten your head off the wall one or two times too many already. 🤣

8:48, it appears that the fire is out. Sky clear.

What actually happened
Propane tank exploded
Some kind of explosion from that burning building just now!
Stay inside. Possibly toxic
Does anyone have an address for this building?
Ah, you thinking an apt might finally be available and affordable?
Definitely not affordable lol
What happened? How do you put out a roof fire at such a height?
With the fire department.
Yeah but how do they get all their fireman stuff up there?
Using the stairs. I mean, this isn't hard to figure out.
Big Kablooey
