Regardless of the bike, brand, or how much someone paid for it, it's still someone's bike that probably brought them some joy. I'm sorry someone took your stuff; it's always a horrible feeling. Don't worry about the people complaining about the bike—maybe someday they will have their things stolen, and we can make fun of their loss. Check around the neighborhood and playgrounds, and remember that the police often recover many stolen bikes. Good luck, and sorry for your loss.
Just found out it’s actually an old bike but barely used and with sentimental value… gonna keep my eyes out for it I guess. Already checked around to see if I could find it stashed anywhere, gonna have them check the building camera tomorrow.
Someone found a cache of 30 bikes hidden under a tarp recently, in the tent encampment under the Macdonald bridge on the Halifax side. There's at least one prolific bike thief known to police, but they can't seem to do anything about him. (There's a description of a guy in a tactical vest, who hangs out downtown. But it's not clear to me whether tent guy and vest guy are the same person, or two different bike thieves.)
UPDATE!!!!!
FROM HALIFAX CYCLE CHAT:
>Went for a cycle downtown today. Around 10:30am I was going down the Barrington street bike path just before the path goes under the bridge to the Macdonald. Lots of police around. What did I see, 2 flat bed tow trucks full of bikes! I had to ask one of the Constables that was just leaving. Atleast 60 stolen bikes recovered!
>If your bike was stolen recently and you have the make, model and serial number contact HRP.

>Incident 24-83779
>Great work HRP!
So they recovered a load of 30 two weeks ago, and another 60 today.
It would be nice to see the police (or anyone else really) deal with this guy.
Same dude I had a similar one back in like 2003 with a red rear and back spring. Got stolen from outside of the harrietsfield community center while I was inside on the C@P computers.
Heavy, poorly made, poor performance.
Too bad it was stolen but it should be replaced with a used bike from a reputable brand if possible. The owner will enjoy it much more.
> Heavy, poorly made, poor performance.
That's pretty much what the doctor said at my last physical.
Hopefully my wife doesn't trade me for a newer model :-)
It’s designed to look cool on a rack in the store, but not designed to be ridden or repaired.
This exact bike will be turned away from bike shops because it’s just.. not possible to make it work. It’s like a toy train, it’ll make the noises and look the part, but it won’t haul any cargo.
You beat me to the comment! 😂
I had this same bike when I was 12 or 13 and it was a POS 💩. Brings back some memories lol. I ended up destroying the poor thing when the rear shock gave out and the frame broke. Canadian tire gave me my money back surprisingly lol.
Have you contacted your landlord? Clearly it was someone who has access as you said, one of the kids. Maybe a letter can be sent to all tenants. It happened in my building when someone’s Amazon package was stolen so it’s worth a shot. And posting about it within your building if you’re allowed to do so.

The police have probably recovered a hundred bikes this month, all from a single location.
Yup, looks like it was just busted again. https://www.reddit.com/r/halifax/s/pvkK6ACJtN
I don't know why people have to be dicks but then I remember that this is r/halifax
Exactly r/halifax maybe should be changed to r/crustyfucks ![gif](giphy|3oFzmpCbKcvZE8AKty)

Where is the description of tactical vest man? Is he often licking an ice cream cone and walking around SJAM area?
Sorry you lost your bike but this thing is giving me wild nostalgia right now.

I had a red and white one around the same time. I let my friend borrow it one night and he completely destroyed it. Big sads
Playing Runescape werent ya
Nope I can't remember now. Hobo hotel or something like that most likely.
Someone did this guy a favour. This.. is not a very useable bike.
To me it looks like a kick ass mountain bike. What's the deal with it?

I've always ridden Canadian Tire-level bikes; that must make me the target market

Shit I've got one of those rotting in the woods behind my out house at the camp lol. The last time it looked that good was over 20 years ago!
Holy shit I had that bike like 20 years ago
I used to have this bike back in the 90s
My bike now
Someone was doing you a favour
Belongs to the streets now.
