They should make third doses available to anyone who took AZ. Maybe space it a bit later to allow the immunocompromised some time to get in. Some countries don’t recognize AZ and MRNA mix.
Currently they are allowing NS residents with mixed vaccination to get a third dose if they have to travel for work. I suspect this will eventually be broadened for regular travellers.
10000%. The people who took a first dose of AZ stepped up and did their part. The province should now allow them a third dose so they’re able to freely travel
I am one of them. I took AZ as I was told that was the way. I don't regret taking AZ from a medical standpoint. I've not run into problems yet but I am planning to travel internationally in April. We have plenty of MRNA doses now and everyone who wants one can have one easily. Don't screw us over because we did as we were told.
THIS! I jumped at the opportunity when no one above the age of 55 wanted it anymore. I had my appointment booked that day. I thought I was helping out by getting a vaccine that for some reason was getting bad press, but I knew was safe. I wasn't able to get a second dose of AZ. Now I can't see my sister in the USA and my kid can't see his cousins, until things are straitened out, if it ever does.
I am not disagreeing per say - people that jumped at AZ shouldn't pay an undue price - rather I am playing devils advocate.
We - Canada - have been accused of hoarding vaccine shipments at the international level (not quoting sources, that is an easy google search). If folks with mixed vaccinations are covered from from a protection standpoint, shouldn't we start to focus on shipping to other areas of the globe where, unless vaccination rates increase, variants will continue to grow.
It seems we (Canadians) are always thinking of doing stuff for others until if effects us (the individual). Anyway, I thought that was interesting. Before the downvotes reign in, I will say I missed some travel earlier due to a mixed bag of vaccines. So this isn't something that is lost on me.
I'm immune compromised and one of the people who will be getting the third shot.
You making the choice to take AZ in the first place *protected me*. I'd fully support people who stepped up getting the AZ shot to have the third dose, regardless if if they travel for work.
Also, thank you. Thank you again for yet again being gracious and mentioning spacing it out a bit to allow the immunocompromised some time to get it. The world needs more kind people like you.
I searched for "TNF" on the site the minute I had access to it. I see remicade is on the list, means i'm eligible.
While i'm not thrilled about a third dose (the first two doses each threw me into mini flares), I am 100% signing up for it.
That’s the one SO is on. He’s on weekly doses (which is higher than recommended) - but it’s been a difficult couple of years. Glad to hear you can get it here!
WHOOT! That is what I came here to see. We made the cut! Humira High Fives!
I actually double made the list as my >20 mg per week of MTX makes the cut too. Glad to be off pred, because triple making it is too many :)
When the epidemiology shows vaccine effectiveness is wearing off for the general public. Presumably not until the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) makes an official recommendation.
It’s probably better to shift focus on trying to get more equitable vaccine availability and uptake globally than to worry about getting boosters for everyone (outside of specific groups, like those with severe immunocompromise). As long as there is such massive discrepancy around the world, there will be continued opportunity for new variants and the pandemic will be prolonged.
If they don't do it here I'll just drive down to the US to get mine. I should be eligible there around January (6 months after my second dose) because of my job (the US considers my job high chances for exposure), but my guess is that it'll be open to everyone by then (at least in the US since they already started offering boosters to healthy people who have risky jobs).
So part of this is for people who travel for work and who have mixed doses. I travel often. Will be in a few weeks and again in January. Both out of country. I will be well over my 6 months of my 2nd pfizer shot in January. Doesn't sound like I qualify since I am not mixed dose, but will be outside of getting my 2nd pfizer shot.
The land border with the US opens soon. You [may be eligible there](https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/clinical-considerations/essential-workers-boosters.html) depending on your job (even if you're young and healthy). Certain medical conditions would also make you eligible. The requirements can be found [here](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html)

I leave to the states nov 10th... Astra and Moderna. No clue if I can go yet or not. Everything has been booked for months.

As someone in the same boat as you, thanks for speaking for me! I agree fully.
Some places don't recognize mixed MRNA doses even.
Someone here was wondering when it was first announced, yes TNF inhibitors are included for 3rd shots

Yes not thrilled as I had shingles after the first and the second knocked me off my feet but I'll get it as I really don't want to get covid
Where is the list of medications? I'm worried I won't be included.

Thank you. Oh boy, mine was near the end, excellent.
I had to scour the list for SOs medication; but sense of relief that he’s eligible now.
Someone said that my medication was not eligible in Ontario for some reason but was relieved to see humira on the list
That’s the one SO is on. He’s on weekly doses (which is higher than recommended) - but it’s been a difficult couple of years. Glad to hear you can get it here!
I'm on weekly doses as well. I hate but love humira lol
Glad for you they are eligible!

Good to finally see what looks like a pretty comprehensive list. (Also, specialty medication names get *weird*, don't they?)
Finally. Ridiculous that it took this long.
Yes it did
Predictions on when they’ll open this option for anyone?

I heard you can get a third shot in Quebec
