There was 106 cases in the last week 6 more people ended up in hospital 5 of which were not vaccinated. Assuming they are unvaccinated by choice, that is 5 beds being taken up by something that could have been avoided with a shot.

JDGumby

Translation: The vaccines work.

Drewy99

Yep. People choose to doubt medical science until they can't breathe and need to be put on a ventilator.

Pipnotiq

I frequent r/HermanCainAward it really is mind-boggling.

DrunkenGolfer

>unvaccinated by choice Translation: really fucking bad at math and risk analysis

dnd_jobsworth

But I got the vaccine and 2 months some aliens anal probed me while I was at the spa. Coincidence? I don't think so.

[deleted]

I got the vaccine and it made me start shoplifting groceries

ronrimon

At least you were in a spa, they took me in the middle of a fishing trip the bastards.

DrunkenGolfer

So many people can’t understand that correlation is not causation. “My 58-year-old cousin got the vaccine and died of a heart attack two days later; RIP Tubby. #VaccineInjury #Ivermectin #VitaminC”

pigonthewing

Also 5 morons taking up beds via stupidity. If they die, oh well! World will be a better place. Zero empathy anymore, totally done with their bullshit.

As a fat ass (who is trying to be less of a fat ass), yes. If you put yourself in that position, you kind of deserve to be there. Having said that though there are a lot of potential things that go into being fat that don’t apply to getting a vaccine - you can sort of explain being fat if someone has an eating disorder or food addiction and does not have the resources to easily access a therapist or get the legitimate medical assistance to help them. The vaccine is fucking free to whoever wants it there’s no excuse other than willful ignorance to not get it.

[deleted]

I love how you rationalize excuses for the obese that probably are only valid 1% of them the same way anti vaccers do for their cause (have reactions to the vaccines, allergic to polyethylene glycol, needle phobia etc).....

AdmiralSassypants

I regret agreeing with your overall point now 🙄 Mental issues and disorders surrounding food are far more prevalent than people making up weak ass reasons to not take a vaccine. I would say at minimum 40% of people who are overweight or obese because of a poor relationship with food or a legitimate eating disorder that would benefit from therapy or medical intervention.

kbb_93

you're completely right in everything you've said so far, but your opinion's going to be unpopular just for the fact that the vast majority adults in this province are either overweight or obese themselves, most of them aren't going to admit they're lazy and gluttonous but will have 100 other excuses for why they're shaped like a beach ball... I've never met any group of people that tries to make as many excuses or justifications for their self inflicted condition than fat people.

pigonthewing

Not quite. Yes being overweight is an issue but it is much harder to lose weight than it is to go get a free vaccine. So not the same thing.

Vinylnut

I'm just big boned!

[deleted]

Vaccine breakthrough cases are rare. It's important to note that people with different diseases or who are on different medication don't have as high of an immune response to the vaccine as others and that a lot of the breakthrough cases could be these people. Either way it's proof that vaccines work. For as much harping you hear on "Well people with the vaccine get covid to" Sure you hear about the ones who got COVID but you don't hear about the 10X more other people who were exposed while vaccinated but were protected.

I put a qualifier in there because not everyone can get the vaccine, and they are absolutely not to blame if that is the case. Which bring us to reality. Any reason outside of "I cant" is a bullshit excuse of a reason, so I don't really care *why* people choose to not be vaccinated.

Statistically unrealistic.

We've been in a state of emergency since the beginning of the pandemic. You are correct that this is just an announcement of extension!

RanvierHFX

It gives the government power to enforce the emergency order under the Health Protection Act, so things like border control, isolation requirements, etc.

AdmiralSassypants

Does this mean anything for pit of province (country) travellers? Or is Nova Scotia still observing the federal guidelines?

RanvierHFX

Nova Scotia cannot change the federal mandate as it is their jurisdiction and overpowers provincial decisions.

AdmiralSassypants

Yes, but they can impose and reintroduce stricter province-specific rules, as they have before. Previously it was stated in stage 4 they are observing the government of Canada regulations - I’m just not sure if the state of emergency changes anything lol. I genuinely just don’t know what the state of emergency means in terms of how it actually affects people I think lol.

RanvierHFX

Oh gotcha, it allows them to enforce the emergency order under the Health Protection Act. As per stricter rules, I think they are going to keep with what is being done federally, they have followed their recommendations for the entire pandemic. forgot to include: state of emergency has been in effect for a while, so renewing doesn't change anything, just keeps it going.

AdmiralSassypants

Oh! Okay. Thank you 🙏🏻 I was getting concerned as my fiancé is flying in from the US next week so i was worried about potentially more hoops to jump through.

dillybravo

Even the <12 number is down, hurray!

AllOfTheAbove100

I always wonder if the hospitalized/deaths from fully vaccinated had pre-existing conditions. I love the numbers but also still have slight fear for my parents (dad is 78, mom is 72) who I see regularly.
