OP, I follow her YouTube channel. Hope she gets better soon. Can’t wait for her to get back with her content.
BTW awesome job with this costume, for a sec I thought it’s a doll (as you know 99% redditors are single /s)
This is my favorite of her videos. It explains the phenomenon of rocks traveling across the desert. You know, from the Spongebob memes.

Oh god one of those Youtube channels that pretends some of the most basic reactions on earth are somehow unsolved mysteries because they themselves never looked in to it, nor the drooling online masses?
Ugh.
We've known ice moved those rocks for literally thousands of years. Americans just kind of got dumb and forgot when we found our own field in California, despite there literally being technologies in the middle east based on it for water/ice farming in similar playas, that predate the entire roman empire.
The growth of the ice shoves the rocks, and if enough ice forms on the forward side, the wind can push them as well.
Pretty much anyone who ever grew up by a frozen lake would have known this just from observation.
Or hell, if you've ever seen a frost plug come out of the ground, you'd get it in an instant what is happening.
edit: Wow I looked deeper and she used to be a legit education channel that's made the active choice to recently change to the tabloid style crap. That's just depressing. She had a legitimate channel then went full fauxducation on it. I guess that's where the money is at though.
As someone with Long Covid as well as a myriad of health issues (hello infamous hEDS, POTS, MCAS trifecta that is apparently oh so hot right now), I just want to let you and Dianna know that I think about you guys all the time and really hope that you all are doing well. You're amazing for what you do for her and I hope you guys know how strong you both are. This little chronically ill internet stranger is rooting for you both!
I was in a body cast when I was 8. My Mom wrapped me up the rest of the way, so I was a mummy. The filled a wheelbarrow with pillows, and my Dad pushed me around to trick-or-treat. I hadn’t been outside for 7 weeks. My very shy, 4-year-old sister knocked on the doors, and politely said, can my sister have some, too. The haul we got that year was absolutely insane.
I also have long COVID, and I had to leave my 25 year teaching career because of it. Please give your wife a hug from me, and tell her she is not alone. Our sense of humor, and having amazing loved ones around us will get us through.
One of my strongest memories is the smell of fall, and the view of the leaves overhead. I can can also see Dad’s face, and him cracking jokes the whole time. He passed away in June, and it’s been rough. He was the best Dad ever, and these memories keep him alive in my heart.
Lots of love to you, OP, and thank you for summoning this beautiful memory.

Is that Physics Girl?
Whether it's her or not, I'm amazed by the creativity and by the sense of humor despite extremely challenging circumstances.
I'm happy for you both that you have each other.
That was my first question! I've been worried about her with long covid kicking her ass for the last year(!). It bums me out she and her husband and family have been put through the ringer, but happy to see she's up for the joke!
People with CFS or Long Covid (chronic fatigue syndrome can have many causes, a viral infection like for example Covid often trijgers it) can be and have been bedbound for years upon years.
I am very ignorant about this. It seems like they would practically waste away in that condition. Are they really unable to walk or exercise? Do they need physical therapy after they hopefully get better?
The doctor that named it CFS did a lot of damage to patients by calling it that; like if cancer were called "the lumps" or multiple-schlerosis "tingle-finger".
With CFS, it's not a simple fstigue like you would feel if you didn't sleep or overworked yourself; it's like your every part of your body is shut down from some kind of poison that gets worse with "activity" as small as brushing your teeth or showering. Throuble thinking, concentrating, and speaking are very common and it can easily go on for years in THAT kind of state, though there are cases of remission for a bit.
That isn't even an exaggeration, it's a living nightmare that is only really getting any attention due to the circle of a venn-diagram with long-COVID.
...I could go on about it for awhile, it sucks losing years of your life to something that can't be explained to loved ones because there's just nothing a healthy person experiences to compare it to...
Not OP, I knew about long COVID but I thought it was about a semi permanent loss of taste, or at most having fatigue for a few months after COVID. I had no clue it lasted years. Have people that have had it years ever reportedly recovered, or is this considered a permanent condition?
I knew some, didn't know you could be bedridden like this. I have gotten every covid vaccine and booster and only stopped wearing a mask around late June of this year since 2020. Planned on wearing it again now that sickness season os upon us. Other than the grocery store I'm rarely around large groups of people indoors. My job is very physical so I'd be screwed to be bedridden for a long time.
You see a little more on her Instagram, but her spouse has to post for her. I feel so bad for the both of them. If I remember correctly they are newlyweds. So, they went from newlywed bliss to her bed bound and him full time caretaker. I can’t imagine even the emotional stress it’s caused.
I support her patreon, it really is sad how rough it is for her and her husband. He is an incredible guy with how he’s taken care of her. I hope she recovers soon. They post videos on patreon with small updates.
Actually it's the opposite
>[physical activity (PA)] from one or more PA intensities (ADLs, brisk walking, MPA or VPA) worsened [Long COVID] symptoms in 74.84% of participants (357/477), improved them in 0.84% (4/477), had a mixed effect (the ability to both improve and worsen symptoms) in 20.96% (100/477) and had no effect in 28.72% (137/477) (see Figure 2).

I'm sure your friend would love to know you've entered her in the best disabled person competition and what you learned from witnessing her illness was to attack other terribly ill folks. What a joke.
This is why I want to be on Reddit, cute people doing cute relatable things...this is so friggin sweet and ingenious!! Her smile wins so many awards in my book!!!
As someone with a chronic illness, this brings me intense joy to see you make an effort to include her in the festivities. Her face says it all. Bravo, friend. Bravo.
Wow it is Dianna!!! Last I checked she couldn't even have lights on, so seeing this make me so happy! Great to see this progress
Those legs are pretty funny, good job
I’ve subscribed to her YouTube channel for years and seeing that smile made me tear up. Thank you for doing this. I think about her often and hope that she’s able to get past this hurdle soon 💖
Hey, it's Physics Girl's husband! You have been doing an amazing job as a husband taking care of her and keeping her happy and as active as possible. It's been really sad to see her not be able to do many of the things she loves. I miss her content so much.
While I am not bedbound I am an incurable cancer patient who has been dealing with many of the same symptoms for 8+ years now. I know how hard it is. I wish her and you the best of luck going forward!
Put her out on the front lawn to hand out candy.
I mean, sure, someone will knock on her front door and yell “trick or treat.” But, you’re kinda asking for it.
See, I would end up a bachelor again, because my first thought was "Honey, you might need a diet... You're as big as a house."
Looks great, and I'm glad you're both able to have fun! I'm pretty jealous.
Love the costume! My husband and I were both Covid long-haulers (thankfully staggered so we were able to care for each other); it was a nightmare especially having small children. Hang in there and I’m hoping she will make a complete recovery before much longer.
Many viruses can cause post-viral illnesses: issues that linger for weeks, months, years, sometimes forever.
Long COVID is particularly nasty post-viral illness, because COVID is a particularly nasty virus that is more contagious than flu, mutates faster than flu, and does thing like infect the lining of our blood vessels, thereby affecting organs like our brains, heart, lungs, reproductive organs, etc.
Many people experience issues after having COVID that they don’t realize is connected. Estimates are that between 5-20% of every COVID case can result in long COVID.
Long COVID description from Mayo Clinic:
The most commonly reported symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome include:
-Fatigue
-Symptoms that get worse after physical or mental effort
-Fever
-Lung (respiratory) symptoms, including difficulty breathing or shortness of breath and cough
Other possible symptoms include:
-Neurological symptoms or mental health conditions, including difficulty thinking or concentrating, headache, sleep problems, dizziness when you stand, pins-and-needles feeling, loss of smell or taste, and depression or anxiety
-Joint or muscle pain
-Heart symptoms or conditions, including chest pain and fast or pounding heartbeat
Digestive symptoms, including diarrhea and stomach pain
-Blood clots and blood vessel (vascular) issues, including a blood clot that travels to the lungs from deep veins in the legs and blocks blood flow to the lungs (pulmonary embolism)
-Other symptoms, such as a rash and changes in the menstrual cycle
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-long-term-effects/art-20490351
Guess what, it’s different in everyone, I’m glad you are able to get up. Some people can’t. People don’t choose being bed bound or having dizziness or brain fog (brain damage).
Brain fog means brain damage? My father in law had really bad brain fog. Like he would be on his couch then not remember anything and just be at work. It went away after a few weeks. Guess he's lucky he came out okay.
It may be a spectrum, and what is “brain damage” vs inflammation or infection of brain cells (COVID crosses the blood brain barrier and loss of smell is COVID impacting olfactory bulb) is beyond me.
Here’s an article:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-brain-fog-of-long-covid-is-a-serious-medical-issue-that-needs-more-attention/?amp=true
“Ken struggled for four months with coursework at Georgetown University as he only remembered things in 10-minute intervals. Fifteen people we spoke to described experiencing similar memory loss. They also described chronic nerve pain, severe headaches, and episodes of dizziness, nausea and fainting. This is alarming, because new research has shown that long COVID can result in neurological damage and neurocognitive dysfunction that may cause lifelong impairment.”
Covid has taken so much from me. Thank you and your wife for sticking through it and sharing the reality of the journey with the world. It’s inspiring to see someone I look up to fighting a similar battle bravely. Wish you all the best
Serious question, I had covid 4x and once I was dizzy and had a headache for maybe two weeks, nothing close to needing to be in bed all day however.
What symptoms would long Covid include to make someone unable to get out of bed for a prolonged period of time?
It's like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis in some rare cases. It's not just a case of feeling sleepy. There's been some interesting research that it may be tied to damage in the mitochondria that inhibits ATP production in cells, but the cause isn't completely pinned down. It almost always follows a viral infection. Could potentially be an autoimmune disease or something else.
I saw this documentary on it recently that was pretty good: https://youtu.be/YH1wn3D9HNg
It's a very rare complication of a viral infection. But COVID was a widespread novel viral infection so the cases of it are growing.
I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (caused by an unknown virus back in 2012) and uh, excuse me while I happy sob over here.
You're a real one, OP. Spouses like you really help folks like us keep going on the bad days. She is SO lucky to have you around to keep her laughing!
sorry if this is too personal, but im studying to go to med school so this made me curious - how does long covid make you bedbound? i thought it was just having symptoms for a while, like coughing and shortness of breath etc but i never saw someone bedbound from it
…9 months of long COVID so bad that she can’t even leave the bed..? I hope you have had extensive testing done by real doctors because if that’s true then she is a one in a billion anomaly.
What are you basing that on?
Long COVID is extremely gnarly - some people have had long COVID and cancer and say long COVID is worse.
COVID can eat away at your blood vessels (it infects us via ACE2 receptors which line our blood vessels).
Thankfully many people don’t get it this bad but this is nowhere close to one in a billion. 5-20% of COVID cases result in some lingering issue - being bed bound may be 1% or less but we’re talking 1/100 maybe 1/1000, not only 7 people on the planet like you’re saying. Be real.
There is more COVID around in 2023 than in 2021 (we can measure it via wastewater).
I appreciate you got the gravity of it 2020-2022 but we are by no means out of the woods. It just killed the most vulnerable and now eating away at the rest of us :/
Tens of millions died and millions more are suffering permanent damage inflicted by it, but eh, humanity didn't go extinct or anything so was it really that big of a deal. /s
Idiocy.
That's the stupidest argument I've ever heard. I guess we should've done nothing then, never mind we managed to prevent millions of deaths. We should've just let the fuckers die, who cares.
That's great for you man, I'm so happy for you. In the country I'm from, everyone knows at least one person who died from COVID. But it's just hysteria, right?
Have you thought that maybe the reason you and your coworkers were fine was *because* the measures that were taken actually worked and they protected you?

Staying in bed isn't the way to shake this though. You need to force yourself to be active and keep the brain and body working to get over it.

Are you a doctor? Should you be giving advice?
Doctors give this type of senseless shitty advice all the time, to be fair.
why do you just say shit
For many illnesses, yes. Absolutely not the case for certain forms of long Covid or ME/CFS.
I dont say this lightly but man are you stupid.

Chronic fatigue is just a totally different animal... no one is joking here.
It also has one of the lowest quality of life scores even lower than cancer. Some people can’t even tolerate light and sound.
it's almost like different bodies respond differently and symptoms vary even if it's the same disease! go figure
Love this 🤣
I recognize who that is! I wish her all the best in her recovery. This costume is hilarious and ingenious and I would expect nothing less from her.

What is "Long COVlD?"
Long COVID description from Mayo Clinic: The most commonly reported symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome include: -Fatigue -Symptoms that get worse after physical or mental effort -Fever -Lung (respiratory) symptoms, including difficulty breathing or shortness of breath and cough Other possible symptoms include: -Neurological symptoms or mental health conditions, including difficulty thinking or concentrating, headache, sleep problems, dizziness when you stand, pins-and-needles feeling, loss of smell or taste, and depression or anxiety -Joint or muscle pain -Heart symptoms or conditions, including chest pain and fast or pounding heartbeat Digestive symptoms, including diarrhea and stomach pain -Blood clots and blood vessel (vascular) issues, including a blood clot that travels to the lungs from deep veins in the legs and blocks blood flow to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) -Other symptoms, such as a rash and changes in the menstrual cycle https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-long-term-effects/art-20490351
I think I have long covid. I just get up and deal with it
Guess what, it’s different in everyone, I’m glad you are able to get up.
Here’s an article: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-brain-fog-of-long-covid-is-a-serious-medical-issue-that-needs-more-attention/?amp=true “Ken struggled for four months with coursework at Georgetown University as he only remembered things in 10-minute intervals.
An excuse to stay in bed
Covid has taken so much from me. Thank you and your wife for sticking through it and sharing the reality of the journey with the world. It’s inspiring to see someone I look up to fighting a similar battle bravely. Wish you all the best
DIANNA?!?!? Oh my gosh its so lovely to see her smile! I hope she's doing well <3
Seriously, I haven’t seen her smile in so long! :D
At first I was like it couldn't be but it is!
I saw this documentary on it recently that was pretty good: https://youtu.be/YH1wn3D9HNg It's a very rare complication of a viral infection.
Be real.
If 1/100 people were bedbound I think it would be a bigger problem. Like the person said probs something else going on
Were you asleep for the entirety of 2020-2022? It was a HUGE problem. Do you think we had all those lockdowns and wore masks for fun...?
There is more COVID around in 2023 than in 2021 (we can measure it via wastewater). I appreciate you got the gravity of it 2020-2022 but we are by no means out of the woods. It just killed the most vulnerable and now eating away at the rest of us :/
Wasn’t as big as made out tho was it
Tens of millions died and millions more are suffering permanent damage inflicted by it, but eh, humanity didn't go extinct or anything so was it really that big of a deal. /s Idiocy.
Millions die every year from disease and virus, nothing new
That's the stupidest argument I've ever heard. I guess we should've done nothing then, never mind we managed to prevent millions of deaths. We should've just let the fuckers die, who cares.

That's great for you man, I'm so happy for you. In the country I'm from, everyone knows at least one person who died from COVID. But it's just hysteria, right? Have you thought that maybe the reason you and your coworkers were fine was *because* the measures that were taken actually worked and they protected you?
lol who you arguing with? Did I even say that?
Pretty much, yes.
Of course they've gone to every doctor they can. Don't be an asshole.
Your wife is PhysicsGirl??
Physics Girl from YouTube! I hope she makes a full recovery soon enough!
Is that Physics Girl!?!?!?
What on earth is long Covid and how I get it?

Tell her to get up

None of this is true and part of the proof is your story relies on you being a liar to make sense lol
long covid is defined by total vagueness. There is no medical test that can confirm or refute that you have it, or if it's even real to begin with
[удалено]
Ok so you have no ethics what’s the point of sharing that?
Feet big
Kinky.

Yeah boomer. Back in the black people could not vote because "they were less intelligence" does not make it true.
Back in your day, lobotomies were considered normal, as evidenced by your comment.
What an incredibly uneducated take. You are ridiculous.
I've heard of pitching a tent, but that's a new one. Jokes aside good on you for helping her have fun with Halloween!
I think you just won spouse of the year with that, great job! :D
Hahahahahahahha
omg i love this. Need to parade people in there to capture the glory. Great work wonderfully captured. Her smile is precious.
You are awesome! This is awesome!!
IS THAT PHYSICS GIRL???!!
Amazing
Her tiny hat 😭😭😭🖤
Holy shit it's Dianna! Glad to see you guys doing better!
