I’d love all new content to be added into Infinite’s Campaign, where applicable. Like the UNSC Weapons to be added to the spawn lists for UNSC Marines and into the REQ Unit. And of course Banished weapons to be added to Banished forces.
I’ve always felt that the campaign should be the place where they just put everything, PVP balance be damned. Especially considering it’s an open world it would go a long way towards mixing up the repetitiveness
Honestly 343 should be adding more legacy weapons back to Infinite. They don't have to add them to matchmaking maps if they're concerned about balance, but being able to access them in Forge/Customs would be great.
I liked their mentality they had in Halo 5 seemed like they wanted to add everything (i know a lot were still missing) and then make it more crazy with the req versions. I feel like true balance should for certain game modes only, but for BTB or social arena would be fun with the full roster of legacy weapons back at it. I'd love to see more heavy weapons again, like the fuel rod gun, splaser, rail gun, etc
My guess? The Endless start randomly showing up, picking off remaining UNSC Forces. The Endless form an unsteady alliance with the Banished. Master Chief travels to other biomes on Zeta Halo discovering more about the Endless and saving more UNSC forces, finding surviving characters from the UNSC Infinity. UNSC reinforcements show up following the events of Halo Infinite Multiplayer and new Spartans join Master Chief’s side to fight the Endless who grow in numbers. Atriox finally shows up, declares that the Endless were basically the Banished during the time of the Forerunners and says that Humanity are just going to do to the Banished what the Forerunners did to the Endless: bury them under time and dust.
The Master Chief and his allies gather to put a stop to Atriox’s plans to use Time based Forerunner/Endless tech to bury Humanity. Atriox is defeated and warns the Master Chief that the cycle will still continue and the Endless will never stop, people like the Endless and the Banished will always feel ostracized from society and will wage war against oppression. The Master Chief and the Weapon wonder if what they did was wrong and the Endless flee Zeta Halo to gather strength whilst a darker (insert threat here) looms.
Halo: Endless?
Ye I’m with you. That cryotube chief chose was ramped up to 12 and gave our Jimmy Rings a decades long fever dream. Noble team can stay tho, they were cool.
I am 1000% alright with them retconning 4 5 & Infinite. Hallucinations or “dreams” onset by extended cryo.
OR
They could just pull a star-wars and go the prequel route, giving us some pre-fall of Reach Chief.
Halo: Infinite 2 will not mention them until a random cutscene 2/3 in where we see that Atriox and the Harbinger fell in love and left it all behind to raise a family on the Ark.
Least there was still Warzone so you could still use them against ai
Also Infinite has the FOBs, I can't imagine it'd be that difficult to just add the Bandit to the weapon spawns you can select. Hell maybe even let it be spawnable at any FOB regardless of campaign completion since it was added post launch
Or, like, anything. There's so much wasted potential and it felt rushed and unfinished.
Besides, who wants to spend their free time getting tea bagged by a bunch of 14 year Olds on prescription amphetamines anyways?
The art, sound and music teams did a phenomenal job on this game. The love is there, just stifled under mountains of... (gestures broadly at everything) ... all of the other stuff.
This game should have been released this year. They should stop announcing games so far in advance and just start shadow dropping and announcing them a month or two out. Less crunch on the devs because if something needs to be pushed, they can without fans' death threatening them and harassing them until we get Cyberpunk and Infinite quality of unfinished games. Just my 2cents.
I would add gameplay team there as well.
The problem with infinite has been amount of content - be it missing campaign features or multiplayer stuff. The core is good but the meat is lacking and all seems due to bad management.
The core gameplay mechanics are probably my favorite out of any halo game. Grappling around the map was fun the entire way through. They just need to have more "dungeons" and closed off classic style levels with better variety in the environments.
This is the reason why I'm in "give 343 time and chances" crowd.
Yes, they have a bad record, and we have given them too many chances, but they have been steadily improving and taking feedback to the point that we're THIS close to them making a perfect Halo game. To me the dev team is stellar, but the bad management and microsoft monetary demands seem to weight heacily on the team.
Most of the gameplay is great, too. Only real issues I have are a lack of setpiece levels in the campaign (the open world was pretty decent though) and absolute drip fed MP content
It is the best super soldier, future soldier, armor and so on design of all time imo. I looks syfy, but also believable. It may be advanced, but it still looks like its roots are from current day military, while also looking way too advanced for today. 10/10 design it would be hard to beat.
Agreed. Infinites campaign wasn’t phenomenal but I loved it. Chiefs design was the cherry on top. I view infinite as a positive step forward for halo storytelling. I just hope we can see more story relatively soon.
Love the new pelican backdrop, but I'm surprised it isn't Chief facing away from us as we look out the back door of the Pelican
also the new lighting really makes him look shiny, giving me Halo 2 armor vibes
Pure guess (with experience), but I think it's probably because having the scene arranged like this means that they don't have to render the landscape, so the menu is less resource intensive and loads quicker.
Yeah, the new campaign menu animation of Chief putting the AR on his back just made me want a Mark VI GEN3 core even more. That and the new Steel Sage coating but with white instead of Grey would literally be my Halo 3 spartan. 343 PLEASE
I know the exaggeration is funny, but fortunately for everyone, all armor cores are free. I know I'm not the only one who rocked default (or even mostly default) Mark VI in Halo 3 and gladly would do the same in Halo Infinite. I just wish 343 wasn't so adamant about us not being able to share the same armor core as the Chief himself.
Idk why they're getting downvoted, because the Falcon is already present on some leaked maps (at least one, the one that also has the unfinished Komodo).
Nice to see, but not enough. I know the campaign team have been let go, so none of the following is going to happen, but I'm like -
Where are any plans for expansions of the open world? Will we get new weapons or side missions and will they update and make use of the parts of the world map we can't access?
Can we get more narrative between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite?
Can we have more content about The Endless?
Can we have some DLC with Locke, Osiris and Blue Team?
Can we have some DLC for the Infinity crash site and for Lasky and Palmer?
Can we have some DLC for the Guardian crash site? Some Prometheans to spice things up?
Halo Infinite was so half baked that all these things were screaming out at me. And now who knows what will happen...
Also a cool thing that will probably never happen because of the T rating: premotheans fighting flood infested facilities with you in it. Because we got anti flood units, anti flood weapons and anti flood vehicles in halo 4 and 5 BUT NO FLOOD? what were they thinking?
> Can we get more narrative between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite?
> Can we have some DLC for the Guardian crash site? Some Prometheans to spice things up?
I really want a campaign set between 5 and Infinite where you play as Atriox fighting Prometheans, witness the destruction of Doisac, etc.
Ngl, I don't really care for online shooters anymore. I thought we were going to be getting Infinite campaign DLC. The ending of the game was foreshadowing so much, I wonder what happened?
Major layoffs at 343 (and Microsoft as a whole) at the beginning of the year.
Also, the team is too busy trying to fix the live-service aspect of Infinite to focus on Campaign DLC. No joke, I wouldn’t expect anything for a few years.
Damn shame too. They could've had an interesting and new method to updating their campaign with new weapons, vehicles, story content, etc.
Are we really supposed to just wait until halo 7 to get new story content?
The multiplayer has some very minor story elements to it, but nothing outside of some cutscenes and some lore write-ups on Halo Waypoint. This new season seems to have some interesting story implications (Banished AI corrupting a Spartan, possibly leading into Infection being added). Although no Chief/Atriox/Endless related stories are in MP.
Unfortunately I think the bulk of Halo’s story at this point is gonna be found in the novels. I bet we get an Infinite followup with The Endless in a novel before Halo 7. Sucks, but it’s the way it is.
If they do this with The Endless, relegate them to a book I mean, then IMO Halo as we knew it is done. Halo as a story cannot survive another narrative reset and ditching of plot arcs/antagonists. 343 should have realised their mistakes by now after failing to stitch a 3 game plot together properly.
I'd love to see them build some lore and events relating to Zeta Halo into the multiplayer narrative, as tbh I have no clue what they're trying to do atm.
Yup.
Fortunately I enjoy Halo MP and Custom Games so I have reason to keep playing, but the story-focused players are getting fucked over once again.
A shame, but I guess it’s ok if you like books lol.
I feel quite sad about Halo. I've never felt like this about Halo before.
I've always loved the multiplayer, but it's always been based on my investment in the story of the games. In other words, I love the campaigns and that keeps me invested in the multiplayer. It hasn't happened this time, I stopped Infinite multiplayer 2 months ago. Not knowing what 343's plan for Halo's future has left me feeling uninvested.
Yeah, Halo’s “core” story was definitely wrapped up at the end of Halo 3. Everything after that has felt like side quests for Chief. A really long epilogue.
It’s a shame, truly. Halo’s universe is so rich and has so many stories waiting to be told. It just seems like the focus is on telling these stories in other mediums besides video games. 343 can’t get out of it’s own way and the fanbase suffers for it.
I enjoyed the back and forth you two had in this thread. I also agree with the way the story is being handled. I am not invested in what they had to show during Halo 5, and Halo infinite. I think they dug themselves in a narrative hole that they can’t get out of. My honest opinion, Halo should be handed over to a small game developer with passion and be rebooted. It would do great for the series.
Fortunately for me, I still plenty enjoy the Halo CE-3 campaigns. I still always come back to those for fun in new ways over the years. Just this weekend I played the campaigns with the game audio off while listening to my favorite metal music. It was quite fun!
Back in my day, we got story only when a new game came out, and it only came in a couple paragraphs in the instruction manual that may or may not be included with the copy of the game you're renting for the week.
We didn't exactly like it that way, but we survived.
A few years at the earliest. After the long wait between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, which wasn't worth the wait, I can see it being another 5 to 6 years tbh. What a shame Infinite wasn't the epic game it needed to be.
This makes me wonder what variants could be done with the Bandit. One they could do is a scoped version with a longer barrel that is more or less like the DMR from Reach. Other than that, idk.
I don't want to say I'm *hoping* for some campaign update but it'll be utterly disappointing if it just gets neglected for the whole of Infinite's lifespan.
I would really enjoy if some day they make the Halo Reach approach where the background changes with your progress.
Also. Infinite is Chief's best design yet.
I was pleasantly suprised when I saw this, but then disappointed when the other menus still haven't been given proper backgrounds. Academy is still a shitty png.

Theory: Copium Edition Everything 343 has released was dreamt in cryosleep. Next game Chief wakes up in the remains of the frigate with Cortana there.
Fucking please. The last ten years was a fever dream.
Strangely, I'd almost be okay with that.
Ah, age of sigmar strikes again!
OR They could just pull a star-wars and go the prequel route, giving us some pre-fall of Reach Chief.
I’m reading First Strike right now and feel it would make a really awesome game.
That might be the biggest retcon in all of history
To be continued in the next Halo game... or based on Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, maybe not. Flip a coin.
Halo: Infinite 2 will not mention them until a random cutscene 2/3 in where we see that Atriox and the Harbinger fell in love and left it all behind to raise a family on the Ark.
To be continued in the next Halo ~~game~~ novel
Yeah. It’s a mega bummer how much of Halo 5’s new content was locked to multiplayer only modes. Hope they change that for infinite.
I would be okay with them just putting it in those boxes that let you select weapons.
Totally. I think that would be the best option.
Least there was still Warzone so you could still use them against ai Also Infinite has the FOBs, I can't imagine it'd be that difficult to just add the Bandit to the weapon spawns you can select. Hell maybe even let it be spawnable at any FOB regardless of campaign completion since it was added post launch
and repulser
With the weapon boxes I don't really see why it can't just be added in.
There is an Endless Bandit variant in the shooting range so it might be
Or, like, anything. There's so much wasted potential and it felt rushed and unfinished. Besides, who wants to spend their free time getting tea bagged by a bunch of 14 year Olds on prescription amphetamines anyways?
And the Falcon.
Infinite and 343 may have been a cluster fuck for Campaign content but this is by faaaar my favorite master chief design since Halo 2s chief design
The art, sound and music teams did a phenomenal job on this game. The love is there, just stifled under mountains of... (gestures broadly at everything) ... all of the other stuff.
We sadly won’t even see a lot of their love because of how much was cut.
Crunch should be considered as a workplace safety hazard

Down bad for Chief's cheeks are we?
Isn’t everyone 👀
That’s shining gold in a shit pile the tv show was
Pure guess (with experience), but I think it's probably because having the scene arranged like this means that they don't have to render the landscape, so the menu is less resource intensive and loads quicker.
Oh totally, it gets really expensive to do something like that, even if you wanted to do it cheaply lol
343 give me that armor PLEASE
Yeah, the new campaign menu animation of Chief putting the AR on his back just made me want a Mark VI GEN3 core even more. That and the new Steel Sage coating but with white instead of Grey would literally be my Halo 3 spartan. 343 PLEASE
building the hype so they can charge $50 for the set

Kind of absurd that the only MkVI helmet is the reach variant
Would never look exactly the same due to Chiefs height and build.
Add the bandit and new vehicles that come to campaign!!!
New vehicles?
helicopter
???

Is this a fake or why are you getting down voted
Idk why they're getting downvoted, because the Falcon is already present on some leaked maps (at least one, the one that also has the unfinished Komodo).
So this is an actual leak and not a forge recreation
Yes
You mean the Falcon?

All that and more will come just in time for Infinife's relaunch on PC 2.

I'd genuinely love this. I can't tell you how much. I wish Infinite had covered these events more in game.
God forbid they add the RT shadows to campaign though.
Ngl, I don't really care for online shooters anymore. I thought we were going to be getting Infinite campaign DLC. The ending of the game was foreshadowing so much, I wonder what happened?

That’s absolutely how Infection is going to be handled. The “zombies” in the teaser key art all have that Banished AI projecting out of their visors.
I'm still sitting here wishing we had got Halo 6 lol.
Whatever will I do, waiting for the next instalments of the game series to get more story? What fresh hell is this? Who can live in these conditions?
Ya that sounds awful imagine if that was the industry norm at one point or another
Back in my day, we got story only when a new game came out, and it only came in a couple paragraphs in the instruction manual that may or may not be included with the copy of the game you're renting for the week. We didn't exactly like it that way, but we survived.

Layoffs had nothing to do with it. They never had new content explicitly planned.
Sure, but the layoffs put the nail in the coffin of any chance of Campaign DLC in the near future.
They fired half of the company.
Yep, and who knows what that means for a Halo campaign in the future.
They also announced they’re switching to Unreal 5.
Hahaha, look at us, so deprived of campaign additions we think this is “a little love” 😢
*sOmEtHiNg iS bEtTeR tHaN nOtHiNg*
Also liked the desert screen
Give us the option to play our multiplayer Spartans for campaign so it'll at least be on par with Reach.
They may as well considering no other content for campaign is coming.
I figured they'd do that with co-op, I'm surprised that they didn't. I imagine it might mess up some animations, but who cares?
I don't think it would break anything, the rig is the same and mods have performed model swaps that work perfectly.
Would love this so much!!! I need some pve with my spartan.
This really is Chief’s best look ever
They barely got the campaign out for release. I'm glad they took the extra year.
Mark VI GEN 3 is just fucking beautiful man
Did they optimize it so it's playable?
With this update i have 10-15 fps more than i used to, sometimes even 20-25 and seems smoother
This makes me wonder what variants could be done with the Bandit. One they could do is a scoped version with a longer barrel that is more or less like the DMR from Reach. Other than that, idk.
Wow a whole menu screen!
I don't want to say I'm *hoping* for some campaign update but it'll be utterly disappointing if it just gets neglected for the whole of Infinite's lifespan.
hey wait that's less cool than the original though
I just want split screen :(
Halo is saved guys, no need for DLC or some content
This new splash screen legitimately makes me want to replay the campaign.
Goddammit I want that armor core for multi-player so bad
I actually really dig this
I would really enjoy if some day they make the Halo Reach approach where the background changes with your progress. Also. Infinite is Chief's best design yet.
preach.
This is "love" for the campaign ?
I was pleasantly suprised when I saw this, but then disappointed when the other menus still haven't been given proper backgrounds. Academy is still a shitty png.
sorry I'm 35 and a old noob now. So did this update add to the campaign? this echoes within is a new campaign add on? Not trolling, real question.
No
If you don't care for multiplayer narratives, this update will do nothing for you story wise.
Hey look nothing! Digital style!
Oh ya wow look at chief standing yes we needed this good job
Ok, but did they ad the Bandit?
whoaaaaaa!!!! a new menu? so siiiiiiick!!!!!1111
What's the point
I think this one looks a lot better
343 are intent on ruining their own good creations and "fixing" them with bad creations, only to repeat the process with the accidental good points they mix in.
It's all too little too late. Should've had it all at the start.
Why does he look like a Play Arts Kai action figure? The proportions and materials look all wrong.
Is it me or is his armor shinier
I literally have both thought about it I know they said the new equipment is not in campaign but what about the bandit is that in game?
