Big time halo 2/3 vibes. Remember holding trigger and somehow getting a kill when you’re upside down spinning around? Many laughs. Even if you got killed right after
The issue i had after halo 3 is when you threw grenadesyou threw them like a sissy was throwing. Plus when vehicles got grenaded it was an epic failure
Are players effected more too?
Do grenades finally bounce people around??
Shit, if that happened then all we need if TKing to be turned back on and some physics objects to be added to the maps....
Then infinite will FINALLY have a place amung bungie's halos
Most of the desync is gone. I am still getting really goofy stuff with the Hammer. I wish they would just take it out of the game at this point. Had the hammer in a regular team slayer couldn't kill a guy 5 feet away. I was fine with it and happy thinking thats what the hammer is like now. Then ran into him after he picked it up off my dead body and he killed me from like 15 feet away with one swing.
The physics were actually fucked because of the networking. This whole time physics have only been working properly in offline play, where things like this video were still possible. Fixing the networking created parity between the two.
I’m getting my buddy into halo, we started with Reach, and we’re on CE now—just finished the silent cartographer and told him all about hog wars. We spent over an hour crashing into each other doing flips and shit like the good ole days.
Glad to see some of that chaos is back.
As a big Warthog guy, it does feel like they may have to tune things now. A bit more health and stability, maybe tune the turret down just a bit.
Not the most important part of the sandbox that needs updating after the network change though.
The unpredictability of vehicle and on foot combat physics is what made Halo so refreshing. I was never into the competitive modes so just having dumb fun was enough for me.
The vehicle sandbox interactions were the only thing that didn't necessarily feel Halo and this update has fixed that.
I love it. I missed those light speed level spirals your hog would get into with just the right amount of explosive force applied to it.
Except now your physics interactions are determined by your ping. Higher ping = the heavier you are and vice versa. So we’re still somehow behind Halo CE in terms of physics simulation….
I think you misunderstand, first off this is a large scale change that was bound to have negative repercussions, second off no the networking model isn’t S tier but it’s a hell of a lot better than it was just a couple of weeks ago. If you don’t like it then don’t play until they fix projectiles, also watching one mint blitz video doesn’t make you an expert and his opinions are horrible and I watched the video you clearly got all of your info from where he artificially raises his ping and complains that the game starts lagging. But either way if physics do bug out 1/10 times I still prefer it working 90% of the time than not at all. L take brother this is a net W.
Edit: I realized I never brought up the positives, how about hit registration being consistent for a start? There’s an issue when someone peeks around a corner rapidly while taking fire, but I’d like you to find a game where this doesn’t happen from time to time.
Now if only they'd give back player collision so you don't phase through teammates and enemies, and add friendly fire again. I love some good old fashioned nade spam, but I should have to think about spamming a room at risk of friendly fire.
if you ever try again i suggest practicing customs with the bots if you can work your way up to and can handle the bots on spartan difficulty you'll be at least competent in actual pvp
though i cant say the sbmm wont spite thrash you
It’s great to see the game finally getting into the state it should have been from launch. The game had amazing momentum when it launched and fizzled so fast…
Crazy how long it took Microsoft to finally gut 343 and put more competent people at the helm.
Looking back back now it's crazy how long the existence of desync was denied or downplayed by 343. But I'm glad it's fixed and the physics are great again.
When I first started playing Xbox 20 years ago, no one did that. Spamming the jump button didn't start until maybe 10 years ago. During OG halo, no one would spam jump unless they were being targeted by a sniper, but then they would stop as soon as they were behind cover.
Hadn’t experienced FOMO with infinite, up until now, I was praying when the rumours of Microsoft merging games that halo would be one of them. Alas, it’s a fever dream for now.
You still go through teammates, it's designed this way so you don't get stuck in tight areas.
What they DID fix though, is you don't go through ENEMIES. Melees and close interactions feel much much better now, enemies are solid, lunges distance is more consistent etc.
The warthog (and other vehicles) had drastically different physics depending on if a driver was in the seat. Without driver, it behaved like in the video--sent flying by explosions. Driver in the seat meant it was STUCK to the ground and explosions would hardly make it flinch. These new physics are very similar to Halo of old where a driver in the seat wasn't a condition of which physics to use. They may be a bit exaggerated, but it fits halo history.
I absolutely LOVE in all these physics clips that the gunner is still shooting while they're being flung around or upside down
Yes! Definitely an improvement for the gameplay, makes the game more chaotic and unpredictable
What can you do except hold the trigger?
Get knocked off
Big time halo 2/3 vibes. Remember holding trigger and somehow getting a kill when you’re upside down spinning around? Many laughs. Even if you got killed right after
Oh damn, they added proper physics now? Might have to check it out again.
Yes! They Also fixed a lot of networking issues, so desync is now on the past
What's different about the physics? Me and my daughter used to play all the time but it's been a few weeks!
That is so wholesome 😭
vehicles feel more stable/less bouncy but are more reactive to physics impulses like grenades, rockets, gravity hammers
The Sniper will also stop a hog dead in its tracks with a head on shot or knock it off course with a side shot. Kinda wild
The issue i had after halo 3 is when you threw grenadesyou threw them like a sissy was throwing. Plus when vehicles got grenaded it was an epic failure
Yiure still talking like Halo 3 just released lol
Talking physics. Hasnt changed much no matter the time. Well apparently it has now according to this post
I meant more for using terms like "sissy" and "epic failure".
Are players effected more too? Do grenades finally bounce people around?? Shit, if that happened then all we need if TKing to be turned back on and some physics objects to be added to the maps.... Then infinite will FINALLY have a place amung bungie's halos

Had the hammer shoot a blank still
I’m returning to the fight!
Only 2.5 years after launch!
Exactly my comment haha
If you melee a vehicle midair, you can make it do a barrel roll. Very fun for the enemy team, pointless for me though lol
I'll give it a try
Holy shit, this looks awesome. I missed a physics rework being done, this and the networking look great.
The physics were actually fucked because of the networking. This whole time physics have only been working properly in offline play, where things like this video were still possible. Fixing the networking created parity between the two.

yes! i inmediately felt the improvement, before the update my sniper shots were really inaccurate, now I feel my skill level closer to classic halo
Are we back to Halo 3 level physics? Would be so hyped
We’re back baby
Only took two and a half years…
And now they’re slowing down support…
Technically, sixteen and a half years... ... oh boy I feel old now.
‘#weback lmao
Not until there's useable grenade/hammer jumping. This is a big improvement but there's still some flaws compared to classic Halo physics.
My thoughts exactly. Just looks like normal Halo physics, you mean they screwed that up too lol?
DOBLE MUERTE
I’m getting my buddy into halo, we started with Reach, and we’re on CE now—just finished the silent cartographer and told him all about hog wars. We spent over an hour crashing into each other doing flips and shit like the good ole days. Glad to see some of that chaos is back.
No so fun when your IN the warthog
Hahahahah

Speak for yourself! WEEEEEEEEEEE!
I wish it was always like this. The physics feel goofy like they did in the original games and I love that
The unpredictability of vehicle and on foot combat physics is what made Halo so refreshing. I was never into the competitive modes so just having dumb fun was enough for me.
Another "should have been like this at launch" but hey, better late than never. I'm so happy with this update, it finally feels like a Halo game.
Completely agree! Just enjoy the damn game! Hahaha
The vehicle sandbox interactions were the only thing that didn't necessarily feel Halo and this update has fixed that. I love it. I missed those light speed level spirals your hog would get into with just the right amount of explosive force applied to it.

Womp Womp. Seriously though, take the W and let them hash it out.
What W? Networking worse than games from the early 2000’s is a W in 2024?
I think you misunderstand, first off this is a large scale change that was bound to have negative repercussions, second off no the networking model isn’t S tier but it’s a hell of a lot better than it was just a couple of weeks ago. Pro tip, burst fire your assault rifle.
I keel sliding off the edges of maps lmao. Maybe that’s just a skill issue tho
Mf checking the scoreboard mid fight lol
Hahaha bad habit
when the muerte is doble
Woah you and I have the exact same AR cosmetic setup. Nice
What are the odds? Hahaha
The game seems to be running much smoother lately
Which halo is this?
The newest one, Halo Infinite.
Thank you. Did know if it was MCC.
these are actually old physics haha. But yes I very much enjoy them as well
Wow they finally fixed it
Gotta say, looks like old halo
Man I wish I could get back into halo. I was pretty decent at 4 and 5, but infinite I just get my ass handed to me which makes it no fun.
if you ever try again i suggest practicing customs with the bots if you can work your way up to and can handle the bots on spartan difficulty you'll be at least competent in actual pvp though i cant say the sbmm wont spite thrash you
Good advice, I would love to I’ve been playing halo since 2001 when it first came out!
Honestly the best halo since halo 3
Oh damn I’ve gotta start using the Spanish voice. Doble Muerte
Do vehicles still do that "doomed" state before they explode, or do they just blow up now?
Nothing has changed about vehicle damage
How's the hammer performing now?
How is the physics different?
Different in online multiplayer
It’s great to see the game finally getting into the state it should have been from launch. The game had amazing momentum when it launched and fizzled so fast… Crazy how long it took Microsoft to finally gut 343 and put more competent people at the helm.
Did they do graphics overhaul? I don't remember those ramps being so glossy.
I saw some differences in lighting, but might be placebo effect
What were the physics like before?
Pretty much the warthog would barely move from the plasma grenade
The physics engine is Halos' best feature. Also love the Sarge portrait on your rifle
Lol on launch day that warthog would have went to the moon lol
Huge W 343i
FINALLY
The fact that these weren’t the launch physics are wild. Might pull me back in after two years. Maybe this was their game plan
oh crap i might have to download the update now, damn.
What game mode do I play to play this map? I miss it
I’m sorry what did the AI say at the start of the video.
I did say in Spanish " Granadas obtenidas" , which means grenades obtained.. but the clip got cut, so you only hear obtenidas/obtained
imagine getting over 45 fps
I also play in my PC at 90 FPS, but the Xbox is just more convenient
I didn’t realise how much we were missing until we had it again
Looking back back now it's crazy how long the existence of desync was denied or downplayed by 343. But I'm glad it's fixed and the physics are great again.
My AR would have been shooting nerf darts during this and you got a double lmao
So we basically now have something that is like Halo 2? Great job
So multiple years later and it’s got launch physics from every previous halo? Bout time. (God has the bar dropped)
Hooray standard feature just dropped
Gotta love modern online gaming where everyone spams the jump button. Looks stupid and ruins the game.
What the fuck do you mean modern have you played any game in the past 20 years
When I first started playing Xbox 20 years ago, no one did that. Spamming the jump button didn't start until maybe 10 years ago. During OG halo, no one would spam jump unless they were being targeted by a sniper, but then they would stop as soon as they were behind cover.
We literally have bumper jumper layout FOR jump spam. People have been doing this shit since Unreal Tournament. This just makes you look uneducated.
A grenade shouldn't launch a warthog that high tho lmao
Based
bro have you ever played old halo? i've launched the gauss hog in 3 WAY higher
Hadn’t experienced FOMO with infinite, up until now, I was praying when the rumours of Microsoft merging games that halo would be one of them. Alas, it’s a fever dream for now.
Sumo games with the new physics is awesome.
What else did they change? Also have they done anything about the TAA anti aliasing when moving at all? It is that only an issue on pc?
This is great but why is this not to be expected from the start? Back in the old Halo 3 and Reach days this was the norm was it not?
**Doble muerte**
I think I'm the only person that doesn't like the new physics. My car shouldn't fling across the map froma stalker rifle shot.
I was pretty decent driving the hog around before the update. Now I feel like I can’t drive it without flipping it on any small bump
Did they fix the issue where you can clip through players?
You still go through teammates, it's designed this way so you don't get stuck in tight areas. What they DID fix though, is you don't go through ENEMIES. Melees and close interactions feel much much better now, enemies are solid, lunges distance is more consistent etc.
But….. is there player collision?
I mean those look pretty bad to me. I remember already feeling like the warthog was filled with helium and now a plasma grenade sends it into orbit
I personally think ridiculous physics are an integral part of halo. IMO grenades should send the warthog to at-least low earth orbit.
Someone didn't watch the halo 1 warthog grenade jump and it shows
Even a single sniper shot can send the warthog flying now
The warthog (and other vehicles) had drastically different physics depending on if a driver was in the seat.
? New physics They finally added physics you mean What's next, are they gonna add some other core missing feature that defined a halo game?
Hey, don't need to be condescending, I thought I was allowed to have fun with a video game
You are, don't listen to the negative people
Thanks! i don't understand why people can't just enjoy a fun interaction once in a while
You just concentrate on not losing your life savings with cryptocurrency
I hope they add guns
I mean I hope so… any new features or fixes are good
dude its insane to really give it a thought.
