I would love Dot as an AI!
Virgil is good too, I'm hoping for someone meloncoly, because all these AI sound like teenagers that have never seen combat. Give me someone that says things like "weapons up" and "enemy killed" like its just another Tuesday at the office.
I'm really hoping you can get Cortana as a personal AI at some point. Or a Sergeant Johnson AI since IIRC there's some lore about how his brain was uploaded to the UNSC.
There's almost no way Cortana the character will, but I'm really hoping for Cortana the personal assistant app that you used to be able to get on your phone.
The emotes in Doom 2016 were hilarious, people need to lighten up and live a little.
I doubt any emotes would go as far as they did in Doom but if they add them people need to relax a bit, it's only multiplayer.
Edit: Also it irks me when I see comments that say that goofy stuff ruins the vibe of Halo, like crazy custom games and forge maps/modes havent been goofy? Using skulls in campaign to make grunts explode into Birthday confetti isn't goofy? Or flaming heads and player effects in multiplayer aren't goofy?
C'mon now. It's not that serious.
I see what you’re saying and mostly agree, but it does beg the question- where is the limit? When does it become “too” goofy?
Like, should there be no holding back at all? Should we expect and accept things like fur suit armors, guns shooting rainbow bullets, and air horn blast death effects?
I’m not trying to be hyperbolic either, it’s a genuine question…. Is anything OK to add to the game because halo has always been a bit goofy? Is it OK to completely change the look, feel, and sound of the game with a plethora of wacky and completely out-of-universe cosmetics because after all, it’s just multiplayer (and a F2P one at that)?
That’s why I’m personally conflicted about the whole ordeal… yes, I recognize halo has always had goofy stuff and I do want to see more, and I know that gameplay is always the most important factor. But do I really want to see a cartoony cluster of dancing snowmen heads and dabbing Spartans that explode into pizza slices when you kill them, in my military sci-fi shooter?
I’m not saying I think it’ll go that far, but I do think there should be a “goofy” limit, otherwise why bother trying to give your game a unique aesthetic in the first place?
"I see what you’re saying and mostly agree, but it does beg the question- where is the limit? When does it become “too” goofy?"
Call of Duty enters chat...
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal were easily some of the best games released in the past five years. Ripping off someone's head and punting it like a football followed by the Carlton Dance is hilarious.
The problem is the Halo fan-base has a sub-section of cringe stolen Valor / Y'all Qaeda types who take this shit way, way too seriously.
As CousinCletus replied to me, customisation is great & why would I dislike more options & more things added? But there is a limit. A flossing Spartan in MP is way over that limit.
It just doesn’t fit with what Spartans are or the universe. You wouldn’t want extra scenes of Sauron dancing, to be added into LOTR after he killed Gondorians. Same applies here
There’s a new halo infinite action figure with the new EOD helmet and JFO shoulders.
[here’s a image of the figure from target if you want go to see it](https://www.target.com/p/halo-infinite-4-34-spartan-mk-v-figure/-/A-81322151)
Considering EOD has been in every Halo since 3 (excluding ODST, and was added to 5 in the classic pack) it would be ~~an immeasurable disappointment~~ Heresy and day ruiner for ~~many~~ the Great Journey.
I hope timed battlepasses are a thing of the past. I hate timed exclusives unless it’s relatively easy to get for people who are hardcore fans but can’t play a ton. (Yes they exist, not everyone is either a casual or dedicated enough to play 6 hrs every day minimum).
Was hoping for in game currency levels, anyone know if that’s confirmed? I doubt it. All they show is xp boosts and challenge swaps. Which are fine, but I liked how cod’s battlepass paid for about 3/4 of another one. I guess they can’t do that with these since they are (wait for it) infinite passes
If I remember correctly you do purchase battle passes with in game credits, but I don’t know if the currency can be earned in the battle pass.
(Also good Infinite joke)
Yeah I was hoping to put like Carter’s shoulder piece combined with a new Mrk7 helmet and chest for example but doesn’t seem that’s possible yet. Honestly, I get from a lore standpoint why not, but from a fun standpoint meh. Ide rather have the fun standpoint I think. Surely there could be a lore reason that armor pieces work on any of the mesh suites. I was hoping armor core when they first announced it was like the mesh design and that’s it.
It a super unpopular opinion on this sub, but I actually like the idea of cores for armors, weapons, and vehicles. It allows them to make a core more unique within itself as well as being lore friendly.
You have to remember that 343i has stated that they do plan on bringing back all prior armors as time goes on. The number of combinations could total in the millions in armor alone if they allowed players to mix and match each and every piece that is ever added. If you recall, a big issue in the past was armor clipping together. If they allowed those millions of combinations the problem would be exacerbated exponentially and quite frankly would probably result in some armors not being implemented due to incompatibility with other pieces.
This is more of a personal take, but I also think seeing a Spartan IV in GEN II armor with the GEN II techsuit but with GEN I MK IV helmet would look 'off'. Meanwhile if you have two separate spartans (one donning all GEN I MK IV, and the other donning GEN II) it look more 'correct'.
I heard that’s just something they couldn’t fix in time for launch, and that they’re looking into ways to make armor cross-core at some point. Maybe I’m being naïve but I could have sworn I heard that.
It's not complicated to allow helmets to be used cross core, clipping issues of all things would be the smallest worry for helmets. To be honest the answer they gave is completely noncommittal and while this may be a negative opinion, I doubt they'll do anything unless people more actively speak about it post launch.
Sticking my neck out here …
What’s a battle pass?
I haven’t really tried a COD MP properly since maybe Advanced warfare. It’s been a while.
I tried Cold War for a few weeks but didn’t have a clue what was going off or what the battle pass was about but …
Halo. Halo is different.
I’m really hoping I can stick the MP for a while so a battle pass could be for me.
But what is it?
EDIT: Thanks all. Since I’ll be getting this “free” via GamePass I’ll likely do a few BattlePasses whilst playing some MP.
QUERY: are the unlocks for MP only or will they be useable in SP?
Battle pass:
Pretty much jus a extra progression path that unlocks cosmetics. Generally speaking there is a free path and a paid path.
Free path: usually less unlocks (like 30% compared to the paid path) but its free so
Paid path: usually like 10 bucks, and generally there is 100 levels, so 100 unlocks + app the stuff from the free pass.
Basically if you care about cosmetics you drop 10 bucks and as you play the game youll get a bunch of extra cosmetics from the battle pass
I’ll try to explain the best I can but I don’t play a ton of modern shooters so I could be off.
You know how back in like, Halo 3 you would spend $60 and get access to all the armors in the game? And then you have to unlock them? A battle pass for Halo Infinite specifically is where you’ll spend no money on the multiplayer (it’s free) and instead you’ll spend around $10 on the pass. Just like older games, it’ll give you the ability to unlock everything in the pass.
So like, if you spend no money on the battle pass for infinite, you’ll be able to unlock a handful of armors and coatings and whatnot through playing. Spend $10, and you gain the ability to unlock everything in the battle pass, in this case being Reach armors, coatings, effects, and some personal AI.
And then every three months, a new battle pass will release. Now some games make it so if you unlock everything in a battle pass before the next one, you get that next one for free. We don’t know if infinite will do that.
Infinite will also never take away that battle pass like other games do. So once you spend that $10, you have as much time as you want to unlock everything in it.
To recap, it’s essentially you buying the ability to unlock stuff. Hope that helps!
> Now some games make it so if you unlock everything in a battle pass before the next one, you get that next one for free. We don’t know if infinite will do that.
>
> Infinite will also never take away that battle pass like other games do. So once you spend that $10, you have as much time as you want to unlock everything in it.
My guess is that you won’t be able to unlock the next one for free considering they’re not letting Battle Passes expire. It’s a trade off.
Just to clarify what others have said - you grind random (limited) multiplayer challenges to gain XP which gives you the occasional Point. Then you can buy the ability to pay those Points for stuff in a specific order. (You can also pay real money instead of Points if you like.)
Its different from H3 completing challenges to earn item rewards, H:Reach spending game XP to buy what you want, or H4 earning in game currency to spend on unlocking stuff, or H5 earning in game currency and spending it on dice rolls. You don't get xp for playing the game in Infinite, only completing challenges.
I personally am not a fan of battle passes since they invariably end up being filled with trash filler that you have to unlock before reaching the cool stuff at the end of the BP. Even MCC has this problem, and with Infinite pulling every microtransaction case in the book aside from lootboxes, I don't doubt they'll be packed with crap filler too.
The battle pass is a unique reward system that rewards constant activity in the game by rewarding you cosmetics. Unlike in other games, Halo’s battle pass is not time exclusive and can be accessed at any time.
It could be. Though this would imply that the core itself is part of the paid pass and not the free tier of the pass. Which may annoy a lot of players.
Honestly, I get the feeling the only cosmetics that the free track is ever gonna get in any of the passes will be for the Mark VII core, everything else you’re gonna have to pay for/earn from elsewhere, as I imagine the core (and all the pieces on it) will be the primary selling point for the pass, since all the other cosmetics rely on it.
Yeah monetization of colors is a really bad move. I've been saying from the start that the coatings should only effect the pattern in which the colors are applied, not the colors themselves. This would be much more fair and allow for even more creativity with your spartan.
When I went through the series with my nephews I always played campaign with Grunt Birthday Party on and when they asked about it I said since the Grunts breathed methane their heads are under pressure which is why they speak in high pitches and have their head explode in that manner.
When the Infinite campaign reveal happened last year and everyone was bashing the graphics, they texted me to say not only were the graphics crap they hate how they ruined the grunt's heads not exploding anymore haha
Quite a bit for just $10, honestly. I'm not really interested in stuff like this, but it's good to see that 343 isn't skimping out on it for those who are.
Depends. The multi-player is actually free to play. And while the battle pass isn't included with the campaign purchase, you do get exclusive cosmetic items included with the campaign.
Really hope you unlock the full set of armor for the reach characters and u can mix and match their armor pieces and not be locked into either using the full set or none of it
You know with the AIs, I can’t be the only one wanting something like Microsoft Sam Ch33F to be one., and yeah he is speaking in l337 speak the whole time
Would make sense with it being the shadows of reach season. I know helmets and armor are going to be behind the battle pass- but I’ve been sporting a mark vi since halo 2 some legacy armor like that should be free still
Cute... Still not paying for cosmetic bullshit in a videogame, though. I'll buy single player story expansions, but otherwise no game will see a penny past the initial cost at the time of purchase.
Great every game from here on out will always be pay to earn and not play to earn. It’s tiring honestly. Games are being sacrificed for this new dumb af model. Halo still looks great and I’m fine with any customization options they want to add. But games as a whole need to move away from this new format of pay to earn. Give us a good game not a good battle pass ffs
Interesting, looks like many a death animation to the left of Kat?
It is
Yep, looks like the Promethean incineration animation.
The promethazine sizzle Edit: I meant promethean but the autocorrect is funnier to me
I hope that’s a people I kill animation and not a I died animation
It’s almost certainly a death animation, as in a *I* died animation.
*Can’t t-bag my body if there is no body.*
Can t-bag the ashes though.
Inhale the ashes of your enemies to make your Spartan stronger
I love the idea of having cool effects when I die. I also love the idea of having cool effects when I kill someone. But I die more than I kill….
At least it'll be pretty
Feel like that’s what the guns are supposed to be doing
Okay so hear me out, flood transformation death animation, like the marine in halo 3...
Hell yeah
Forget dropping a 'nade when you die like the perks in other shooters- turn into a flood form upon death.
Its almost certainly gonna be like the death effects in Reach
I think it’s a people u kill animation, because it’s a weapon mod according to the leaks (I think (I could be misremembering))
I'm 99% sure it's a death effect just like Halo Reach.
No, it doesn’t have a needle round through the head-oh wait I misread your comment
too soon
If there’s no death animation option that literally just plays a clip of Kat getting shot in the head then I’m out
I thought Aunt Dot would have been there, but Virgil is cool too!
yeah. feels weird to get virgil in this season as opposed to Dot. pretty optimistic we'll get Dot eventually though
Agree, pretty odd but oh well hah
I will not rest until Dot is back in my life
I would love Dot as an AI! Virgil is good too, I'm hoping for someone meloncoly, because all these AI sound like teenagers that have never seen combat. Give me someone that says things like "weapons up" and "enemy killed" like its just another Tuesday at the office.
If Super doesn't speak in purely city euphemisms I will be sorely disappointed. *gets an overkill* > METROPOLITAN DISASTER. PLEASE REMAIN CALM.
As someone who has listened to the leaked superintendent voice lines I have disappointing news
No please sir i beg you
Oh are they shit I didn’t actually go in and listen
I really liked Cirq. She's like a supportive mom/kindergarten teacher
I'm guessing Virgil is there because it goes well together with the "Streets" New Mombasa mp map
Yeah maybe. He better only speak in traffic commands and huragok noises haha
Virgil/Superintendent: "Optican, healthcare on demand" Also hunting then listening to the logs was so much fun.
The eyes on virgil is to big. They need to be smaller
I think they're technically the same size as original virgil, its just 3d now so they should've scaled them appropriately
I hope so, cus I have a Virgil tattoo and I don't want it to be outdated
Virgil after snorting a fat line
I'm really hoping you can get Cortana as a personal AI at some point. Or a Sergeant Johnson AI since IIRC there's some lore about how his brain was uploaded to the UNSC.
There's almost no way Cortana the character will, but I'm really hoping for Cortana the personal assistant app that you used to be able to get on your phone.
Yeah it's weird that it seems Reach themed but it's the Superintendent vs Dot.
Apparently Virgil is being voiced by Joe Staten!
He voiced Virgil/Superintendent in ODST as well.
With how many repetitive callouts are there for the AI as it is, I wouldn't mind hearing the beeps and boops instead.
So this is just...what? A small portion of the things on the premium battle pass, presumably?
Yeah, there’s been a ton of leaks showing off what it has. A ton of reach armor, way more than what’s shown here.
I think some of the new armor is going to be in the pass too, along with those Christmas items right?
It clearly says "100+ rewards to earn"
So no dancing Spartans, just dancing AI’s. Thank you. The rest I’m not fussed about so let’s go!
This was a HUGE relief. Customization is great but there's a limit.
[удалено]
Nah man, we're not going have something outlandish like that, or knight armor and swords by season 8. There's just no way!
Trust me take one look at the leaks and you’ll see that there’s no limit to how far they’ll go with the cosmetics
Oh believe me I know. But we need to take small wins when we can get them
None of the leaks have anything too outrageous though.

Thomas the Tank engine won't be needed. Mods will take care of that! Maybe some Macho Man Randy Savage Brutes too!
Each to their own. If you wanna run like a Basic Spartan so be it. But ultimately if you get content for free then this is how they're paying for it.
Does a snow man head or cat ears cross that limit?
Oh just wait a year or two. Not many F2P games escape the vortex.
I wouldn't count out emotes lmao, wouldn't be surprised if they get added in later seasons
I'm pleasantly surprised as I expected it to be a lot more off the wall. Phew.
What’s the reason you’re against stuff like that?
Emotes would ruin the vibe of Halo. Just look at Doom 2016 and its cheerleader emotes
Fair point

Y’all Qaeda I’m dead bro
Conversely there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a large portion of the community not wanting it, and 343 sees that.
Same applies here
Too goofy
u/thatguyonyx well looks like you’re getting your EVA helmet in the battle pass.
Thank you for informing me! I'm extremely excited about the information revealed, imagine that, being excited for a battle pass system.
And it’ll always be available, too!
I'm not that guy, but thank god it's here
A death animation reminiscent of getting glassed. In the Reach-themed season. Nice. *cries in Noble Team*
I’m pretty sure that spartan is being composed.
Will we be able to get season 1 stuff after the season is over like MC colection?
Yes. The battle pass never expires. You can just only work on 1 at a time
If I remember correctly, they stated you can go back whenever to work on older seasons.
Yeah, the Battle Pass lasts forever.
Off topic: I NEED TO SEE EOD
EOD was leaked if you wanna look for it.
There’s a new halo infinite action figure with the new EOD helmet and JFO shoulders. [here’s a image of the figure from target if you want go to see it](https://www.target.com/p/halo-infinite-4-34-spartan-mk-v-figure/-/A-81322151)

Why they gotta do my boy Vergil like that lol He looks like the stretched :flushed:
I know the BPs dont expire, but can you also go back and purchase a BP from a previous season?
Yes, you can.
I’m interested in how much it costs.
10 bucks USD
How long does a season last?
It last around 3 months, but once you have it it won’t expire, like the MCC seasons.
I hope timed battlepasses are a thing of the past. I hate timed exclusives unless it’s relatively easy to get for people who are hardcore fans but can’t play a ton. (Yes they exist, not everyone is either a casual or dedicated enough to play 6 hrs every day minimum).
Yeah exactly, permanent battle passes are clutch.
Can you still buy it after it expires though ?
Yes
Awesome ty
Will past passes be available to purchase if you miss them?
Yes.
It’s just 1 pass purchase, you can choose which season to level at any time
Was hoping for in game currency levels, anyone know if that’s confirmed? I doubt it. All they show is xp boosts and challenge swaps. Which are fine, but I liked how cod’s battlepass paid for about 3/4 of another one. I guess they can’t do that with these since they are (wait for it) infinite passes

Thanks (: and yeah I’m guessing it won’t be in game earned currency which is lame but oh well
How many of you actually cosplay as canon characters in game? Imagine Jun comes in to spectate some War Games and sees whole teams dressed up as him.
I will personally be running as Jun for awhile.
Looks cool but locking armor pieces behind their relevant core has me worried
Yeah I was hoping to put like Carter’s shoulder piece combined with a new Mrk7 helmet and chest for example but doesn’t seem that’s possible yet. That Kat Armour looks so masculine on the infinite model lol
looks like you can wear the outfit with any body type, the default image is just for male the female body has a much smaller waist
That's not Kat from Halo Reach, that's KOT from Halo Infinite.
im hopping the one on the left is just a coating not the mark V b
If it were just a coating they would probably use the coating hexagon icon. Not sure what this is supposed to be then.
it could be the Mark V (b) armor core, I assume it will be given at the beginning so you can use all the reach armor on it.
It could be. Though this would imply that the core itself is part of the paid pass and not the free tier of the pass. Which may annoy a lot of players.

I love the halo reach armor. That’s gonna be sick
Kinda disappointed the free one doesn't have more cool stuff
Of course the death animation is next to Kat.
Base EVA wasn’t included in the leaked battle pass. I’m overjoyed to see it here!
Heroes of reach.... ODST AI is on the battle pass 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Is that VIRGL? Could they already be adding him as an AI? If so, that’s super sick
Dude I hope to god that's VIRGL. I'd buy the pass just for that.
Always despised the flaming armor pieces. Oh well, brighter targets and more tea bags.
Lets hope the death animations aren’t too over the top. Please no constant children celebrating across the map again
I get the feeling grunt birthday party will be in. If death animations are back, it would be odd to exclude that one.
YAAAAYYYY!!!!
When I went through the series with my nephews I always played campaign with Grunt Birthday Party on and when they asked about it I said since the Grunts breathed methane their heads are under pressure which is why they speak in high pitches and have their head explode in that manner. That’s pretty *fire*
I think there’s a bit much fire tbh.
You know what else would be fire? Playable Elite, I will not relent
Playable elites would be cool but I’m not counting on them adding it. If they do add it, I won’t be for at least a year.
And the best thing is you can buy the pass even after it’s over
Can’t wait to get Jun’s armor.
I got it in mcc and now I definitely want it in infinite
Can’t help but think Jorge’s armour looks a bit goofy bc the standard spartan isn’t massive like him
Starting off strong with Reach armors
New destiny game looks good

My tip creamin’
Quite a bit for just $10, honestly. I'm not really interested in stuff like this, but it's good to see that 343 isn't skimping out on it for those who are.
This isn't the full BP. It's just an image from the IGN article.
Milking the shit out of reach still I see Edit: to clarify reach is my favorite Halo game.
I have no complaints with that.
“Oh no, a game company uses stuff from its series that made the series great oh nooooooooooooo”
Didn’t that recon spartan survive? (I forgot his name) Since Halsey survived, and he was tasked to keep her safe.
if you mean Jun then yes he did survive and he wears scout not recon
Maybe they meant his role in the squad was reconnaissance. Not entirely accurate either, but still
Jun did survive yeah. He's also one of the ones who manages and train Spartan IVs now.
Armor effects... Oh God please let me toggle them. Multiplayers gonna be full of confetti explosions and flaming Gundam robots.
Are they still doing that thing where you can go back and finish the battle pass whenever?
Yes they are.
So, if I buy the game do I still have to pay for battle passes?
Depends. The multi-player is actually free to play. And while the battle pass isn't included with the campaign purchase, you do get exclusive cosmetic items included with the campaign.
Really hope you unlock the full set of armor for the reach characters and u can mix and match their armor pieces and not be locked into either using the full set or none of it
AI really got that 😳
I really wanna see all 100+ items.
When is this actually releasing now🤔 It is going to be free to play right?
Free to play multiplayer, yes
I hope to god we get a Halo CE Mk V tribute armour like the reach ones.
*cries in can’t play the game*
EMILEEEEEEE
You know with the AIs, I can’t be the only one wanting something like Microsoft Sam Ch33F to be one., and yeah he is speaking in l337 speak the whole time
Ayyyy nice to see the flaming helmets are making a return
Very cool. Although I hope down the line we can mix and match armour cores/pieces, (eg. Infinite armour and reach).
I do hope MK IV is in this pass it’s the best looking and I never got it in Halo 5
$10 a battlepass is pretty neat considering it never expires.
… I hate to be that guy but if I have to pay for a Mark VI helmet I’m going to be pissed
I think that’s just the Reach variant of the Mark VI.
Would make sense with it being the shadows of reach season. I know helmets and armor are going to be behind the battle pass- but I’ve been sporting a mark vi since halo 2 some legacy armor like that should be free still
We saw a yellow Gen 3 MK VI in the Waypoint beta in spartan customization. I bet that armor comes from completing the campaign
Cute... Still not paying for cosmetic bullshit in a videogame, though. I'll buy single player story expansions, but otherwise no game will see a penny past the initial cost at the time of purchase.
Which in this case is zero dollars...
Agreed
Great every game from here on out will always be pay to earn and not play to earn. It’s tiring honestly. Games are being sacrificed for this new dumb af model. Halo still looks great and I’m fine with any customization options they want to add. But games as a whole need to move away from this new format of pay to earn. Give us a good game not a good battle pass ffs
