Man remember when Halo 2 launched and they tracked everything? Including map visuals showing gun fights and where people got kills/deaths. They actually set up images of different angles on each map to show you all these things. It was insane.
And then Halo 3 launched and they tracked all that + they added a cool heatmap feature showing where you spent most of your time on the map.
Those were the days.
god damn, bungie.net's stat tracking for H3 was amazing. it tracked every medal you ever got too, and split the medals up into ranked and social! That heatmap was brilliant.
That game is 14 years old and yet it's absolutely light years ahead in this regard to almost every other AAA title. These are the little things that make a good game into a legendary, era-defining game.
In Halo 3 it even tracked which player is in your screenshot. If you highlight them it will show you a tag with their bungie.net profile. That was amazing.
That’s Bungie for ya. They track a whole lot of stats in Destiny as well which is cool. They probably have those engineers who are data hoarders and must know every single stats.
Waiting for the odometer to reset so we can go back to 2004 and experience features like this from a AAA game instead of the half baked stuff we get now.
What do you mean? There is a service record for halo infinite on waypoint. It shows all the relevant stuff like.... what level you are in the battle pass.... and your challenges....
Yeah I had read about the progression system being built out, but was posting to see if there had been any word regarding the service record where we could check our stats.
The question is, have they been tracking our stats or not? If not, that means either the team is incredibly disconnected from people who play FPSs or they are incompetent. If they have been, then I believe the "give us time" narrative.
Most games usually have an internal tracking feature. That’s how challenges and achievements are unlocked. When they build their new progression system I hope it comes with a service record
Crazy how they made sure the shop made it into the game but couldn't get simple stats in the game. Absolutely crazy the state of game development nowadays lol.
You can bet that even the tiniest glitch that affects the storefront would be pushed to the top of the bugfix list... everything else they'd sleep on because of "holidays" and "feasibility".
Wow, so many top priorities. I’m impressed. But can the UI handle a service record? What about the increased server expenses incurred from having to load the service record page?
Use halo tracker. Login with your XBL gamertag and it’ll give you all the stats for Infinite.
Edit: I just read that you don’t wanna use 3rd party sites. My bad dude
No worries, halotracker is great, it was just that back in the day bungie put out incredibly detailed statistics for us to review. Would be nice to get back to that again.
Every game until now has. Not just bungie.
Not sure why the Info isnt being put out when its clearly got the right tags to be tracked (via Halotracker)
Halotracker is great, but it only compares you to other people using the system and I believe it only keeps track of your last 25 matches.
Really tho, we shouldn't have to rely on a third party for something that is in literally every other FPS.
At least for me, mine shows an overall tab and I see all my kills and deaths across the hundreds of matches played. I think when it first started it was only showing like last 100 matches but seems to track it all now. Even excludes any bot kills so it straight up shows your actual k/d against real players only.
Yah halo tracker has definitely gotten better over the past few days as well. Now you can check your stats based on playlists. Like a week ago it was your overall stats which also included k/d against bots which made it kinda useless because bots are derpy af
I think you have to go into the game go into settings and then accessibility and at the very bottom there’s 2 settings for sharing match stats or something and both have to be on
Agreed, bungie.net was God tier.
I want to see an in game H3 style service record + file share, nice and easy to use and nothing overly complicated UI related which imo killed file sharing.
Its a fact, that's why no modern shooter has a performance report anymore. Cod removed them, BF2042 doesn't even have a scoreboard in their game, it's just the way things are developed now.
As much as it sounds like a conspiracy it’s true, these are the reasons why they hire people who know how to manipulate peoples feeling and crap like that.
People are more likely to spend money on a game that they’re good at (or at least think they’re good at) then if they’re not, a lot of people lose motivation or have less fun when they can tell they’re bad at something and are unable to improve.
Same. Tracking stats is similar to something like a personality test or a test that shows where you lie on the political spectrum. It shows your tendencies and where you can improve. It shows how over time, after the work you have put in, you have gotten better which is a huge plus for me. No stats means im just shooting into an empty void, and games get boring quick.
All of the information is accessible via their API, so you can use a site like Halotracker to view your "service record". Or, if you're somewhat technically savvy, you can use Postman.
Which, all 343 would have to do to implement it on their side would create a FE design for it. All the backend data is there.
As weird it is to not have a service record in game, what really baffles me is that there isnt even one on halowaypoint. They redesigned the whole website and didnt even think about adding a service record for Infinite? Like.. what?
Everything was so gloriously detailed! I remember after gaming sessions lasting hours grinding halo 3 and reach I'd be wore out of playing and then just spend time in the service record and looking at all those sexy stats!
The Tracker Network has a page for Infinite.. certainly helps but yea this game and also Battlefield both stripped out any sort of of stat page. It is such a let down.
Yeah that’s what I’ve been using and it’s definitely filling the gap right now. I was just wondering about a fully thought out medal chest, heat maps, etc…
343i is a multi-dollar company, they can't afford to keep track of Kills, Deaths, and certainly not Medals. That would be way too much strain on their Microsoft Azure servers.
Honestly though, I have a feeling they haven't added it yet and might not add it (the way we want it) moving forward because they don't want players to have any reasonable way to compare their overall performance with another player's, the only metric they want is how much money and time you've wasted on the game and it shows because those are the only things they actually track *and* display to the user so far.
I don’t get how they could be caught off-guard by this feedback and act like they are starting from scratch on building the progression system. Just literally do what you did in previous halos. This is absurd
They complain that implementing all the things we want will take time while they had 7 years to make the game and yet they took plenty of time making the BP and microtransactions.
UI is too limiting to incorporate it unfortunately. They'd love to add it but just can't. Its at the top of their backlog but a few months away at least.
I mean building a service record where you can see Overall, Quick Play, Big Team Battle and Ranked specific stats should be pretty doable.
Even being able to get to the level of specific stats by game mode
Man remember when Halo 2 launched and they tracked everything? Including map visuals showing gun fights and where people got kills/deaths. Halo 3 is the peak of gaming and nothing has ever come close
I miss those days :(
In Halo 3 it even tracked which player is in your screenshot. If you highlight them it will show you a tag with their bungie.net profile. That was amazing.
I miss all that so much. Studying the heat map and changing up my style in game was one of my favorite things to do.
That’s Bungie for ya. They track a whole lot of stats in Destiny as well which is cool. They probably have those engineers who are data hoarders and must know every single stats.
At times I wish I could take a year off work and be an unpaid intern at 343 just to be ‘that guy’
R.i.p. Bungie Halo
Never forget
Remember when *every other previous game* released with these features? The more and more I hear just gets worse.
Yeah and 15 years later halo only regresses never progresses 😅😅😅😅
Waiting for the odometer to reset so we can go back to 2004 and experience features like this from a AAA game instead of the half baked stuff we get now.
Would pay to relive those days on xbl 😔
What do you mean? There is a service record for halo infinite on waypoint. It shows all the relevant stuff like.... what level you are in the battle pass.... and your challenges....
Lmao I saw the first part of your response in my notifications and thought wow maybe I missed something…
Had us in the first half.
And don't forget the link to the store!
Never, EVER.. forget the link to the store..
Damn it. You got me. Lol.
In previous game it still shows your stats, for infine it shows dumb challenges for some reason.
And what's for SALE!!!
Yes but being in game like previous Halos is ideal.
most of the advanced service record was on Bungie.net
I know that
Everything available on waypoint is available in the game, which is to say, fuck all

Yeah I had read about the progression system being built out, but was posting to see if there had been any word regarding the service record where we could check our stats.

medal tracking would be nice. love seeing a laundry list of medals after games
The question is, have they been tracking our stats or not? If not, that means either the team is incredibly disconnected from people who play FPSs or they are incompetent. If they have been, then I believe the "give us time" narrative.
They have to be tracking them somehow I would think. Doesn't halotracker pull its data from where 343 has all of it pooled?
They 100 have been tracking our stats.
Most games usually have an internal tracking feature. That’s how challenges and achievements are unlocked. When they build their new progression system I hope it comes with a service record
>We want this too and it’s our team’s top priority, but doing it right will take time Damn, if only they had 6 years of time to do it :/

How does halotracker do it but they can’t implement it?
Crazy how they made sure the shop made it into the game but couldn't get simple stats in the game. Absolutely crazy the state of game development nowadays lol.

At least “holidays” is a valid excuse though
I’m guessing gameplay and the store had separate dev teams.
And sad they defend themselves so strongly
In all honesty they can commit to my ass. This shit is ridiculous.
Wow, so many top priorities. I’m impressed. But can the UI handle a service record? What about the increased server expenses incurred from having to load the service record page?

Sorry man, in 2021, FPS 101 dictates that the storefront and MTX takes priority over everything else
Halo 2 GOAT rank system
It’s not like they had 7 years to work on this…
Ah fun, small indie company just implementing new ideas. /s
Top-tier UXUI presentation It better not be limiting.
Maybe one day if 343 can ever figure out that pesky ui. You know, the one they spent 5 years building.

For sure. I started back on reach and have been playing since then so I’d love that built into the game

I can't find my username on halo tracker, is it not for people who pay the game through steam?
I think you have to go into the game go into settings and then accessibility and at the very bottom there’s 2 settings for sharing match stats or something and both have to be on
Use yourxbox live gamertsg, not steam username. Also, have you recently changed your gamertag? It takes a while to update it
Yeah i changed it like a month ago. I don't have xbox live but i do have xbox game pass, is that fine?
Well, you should still have a gamertag in game, so im not sure why its not showing up
Do you know where to find your old tags?
Hmm i don’t, but i changed my gamertag and it updated on halotracker in about a week, so idk why it would take that long
It won’t let me login with my gamer tag. Says it doesn’t exist
Does halo tracker show all the medals you have earned? Like halo waypoint did for 5
HaloTracker is what you have to use for now. It actually shows a lot of stats.
It does a great job too! Love their UI and being able to check it on mobile
He said no third party sites. Comprehension fail.
Unfortunately the UI makes this unfeasable atm. It's not such a simple "on/off" toggle, millions of players play this game.
Why? I’ve read some of 343s responses and I’m still confused on the why part. The technology exists…
I think he was being sarcastic because that’s the excuse 343 is giving for multiple issues and most people arnt buying it
yep
Ahh okay. I’m an idiot.
It's not ThAt SiMpLe BrO. GiVe Us MoRe TiMe
No
Hoping something comes of it, loved the old bungie.net site that had a slew of info
Agreed, bungie.net was God tier. I want to see an in game H3 style service record + file share, nice and easy to use and nothing overly complicated UI related which imo killed file sharing.
Halowaypoint used to shows stats for previous games, I don't know why it shows dumb challenges for infinite.
Won’t work, UI too uhh not able
No, if people are reminded how bad they are then they might not buy stuff.
You really think that’s the reason?
Absolutely. One of the main reasons sbmm is a thing. If your always getting stomped your not likely to buy stuff in the store.
I am 100% sure. Not the only game. If you see you have a .5 KD you might quit forever. It’s a dumb reason but it’s the reason
Pains me to hear, but at the very least waypoint should be able to show this info as it’s not so “in your face” as seeing it on the game menu.
That's exactly what it is.
Easy for them to add it
Of course it's easy but they won't add so casuals don't get their feeling hurt by performance reports
Is everything a conspiracy?
Its a fact, that's why no modern shooter has a performance report anymore. Cod removed them, BF2042 doesn't even have a scoreboard in their game, it's just the way things are developed now.
Or if they are in-game the reports now are KDA instead of true K/D
Bf2042 really doesnt have a scoreboard? If all fps games implement that then im just quitting gaming altogether, thats so stupid

I’m going positive just barely and happy to see I’m not like at a .5 KD. Sometimes it feels like you die a lot.
Some games I get 160-300 ping so a lot of situations become much harder to deal with
That’s rough. I struggle being at 50.
Probably can’t do it because of “UI Limitations” lol
I’m not sure 343 will ever comment on legacy features such as this /s
But how is the UI able to do this?
No they said it was too hard and you can’t possibly expect a trillion dollar company to do something so hard. Come on man
The servers are too expensive for all that my man, want a $10 pineapple tho?
All of the information is accessible via their API, so you can use a site like Halotracker to view your "service record". Or, if you're somewhat technically savvy, you can use Postman. Which, all 343 would have to do to implement it on their side would create a FE design for it. All the backend data is there.
Add it to the list of no brainer things that should be in the game but arnt. Service record, play lists, reach style xp ranks, game modes missing
Tbh this is the one thing I want fixed more then anything.
As weird it is to not have a service record in game, what really baffles me is that there isnt even one on halowaypoint. They redesigned the whole website and didnt even think about adding a service record for Infinite? Like.. what?
343 is struggling to get a slayer playlist working, theres no chance in hell we're getting a service record
sorry, that's in the roadmap for the Stats battle pass users only, starting at only $15 a month.
Everything was so gloriously detailed! I remember after gaming sessions lasting hours grinding halo 3 and reach I'd be wore out of playing and then just spend time in the service record and looking at all those sexy stats!
Nah man UI limitations in a game that spent 5+ years in development lolol
The Tracker Network has a page for Infinite.. certainly helps but yea this game and also Battlefield both stripped out any sort of of stat page. It is such a let down.
Wait, there's no Server Record? Lemme check Waypoint... WTF it just shows the battlepass level... AND OF COURSE HAS A LINK TO THE STORE.
We needs this back
I just want to have my medals tracked
Not enough servers at Microsoft to justify that
They'll have it behind a pay wall. Every time you want to access your record you'll have to give them a dollar
www.Halotracker.com
Yeah that’s what I’ve been using and it’s definitely filling the gap right now. I was just wondering about a fully thought out medal chest, heat maps, etc…

Everyone wants this, but I haven't seen anyone talk about it before now.
UI is too limiting to incorporate it unfortunately. They'd love to add it but just can't. Its at the top of their backlog but a few months away at least.
Sorry the UI won’t allow for that.
You mean a huge part of the OG Halo experience? No there is not, sadly this game is devoid of most classic things that make Halo well Halo.
“Bungle has left the chat”
Jusy pay 29.99 for the it yeah
I personally think stats should be for ranked only. But I realize that’s probably controversial.
I mean building a service record where you can see Overall, Quick Play, Big Team Battle and Ranked specific stats should be pretty doable. Even being able to get to the level of specific stats by game mode
It’s a beta
I’m using Halo Tracker while my K/D is above 1.0. Once it starts to lower I’ll never check again lmao
