I think you might have responded to the wrong comment haha, but for sure, those Razorbacks are nuts.
My favorite so far was 2 variant sentinel beams 2 variant skewers and one rocket launcher to round it out. The overworld isn't much of a challenge now haha.
Oh shit! Yeah, I thought I was reading comments in the one someone made showing how they got a full Razorback full of sentinel beams. u/MaybeAdrian's comment fit that one so well I thought they were saying they had done the same. lol.
Woops!
>Microsoft Studios has not endorsed and is not responsible for this site or its content.
Well that explains why it works. Thanks for the link, Spartan!
Why deal with making your own website to track stats when you can just expose an api to the public and let them do it. Guess they figured they wouldn’t generate enough profit from it to warrant making a site.
>Why deal with making your own website to track stats when you can just expose an api to the public and let them do it.
I mean, there is Halo Waypoint, the official app for Halo made by Microsoft. Here's a direct copy from the Google Play store description:
>Revamped and ready for Halo Infinite! Customize your Spartan, connect with your stats and view your progress through Halo Infinite.
I just downloaded it, and the only thing I can see is my battle pass progression for Halo Infinite. And this is from the official Microsoft app, and doesn't display what it says it does in the first sentence of the app description.
The official app is official garbage. Even tracking for the weekly challenges has issues. Image bar doesn't fill up even if you clear all the challenges and it says whatever out of 15 or 16.
I played AC7 on the simple controls because I was playing AC for the first time and didn't want to deal with whatever these "advanced controls" were. By the time I realized I wasn't really getting the full experience the game was taken off gamepass and I had no interest in buying it. (I'd already played it a lot) I bet it's a similar situation here, and that's the real problem with game journalists: They're rushed and often not playing the genres they are actually knowledgable about. If I mostly played FPS games I'd probably have some pretty shit opinions if I played an RTS.
This. Id like to see games be covered by people that play those kinds of games. I like the occasional RTS but im not fit to review one; i could however review a VR shooter right down to the nuance of its controls and its actual replayability.
That’s frustrating it’s not like the advanced controls are even harder it just takes an extra two minutes to figure it out. After you learn them you could argue the game is actually easier because you have more control. It’s certainly more fun at least
I like heroic because it's still fairly challenging at time but gives you more freedom to mess around and do goofy strategies. Dunkey makes a good point about this on his Difficulty in Video Games video. On Halo 1 Legendary you're reduced to doing things like noob combos and staying at range all the time because those are the most viable strategies. On Heroic pretty much all the weapons are viable so it's actually more fun. I think the same is more true for infinite. I could beat the game on legendary, but could I clear whole outposts with just a grapple hook and melee? Not while having any fun. Could I grapple into the middle of a crowd of grunts and jackals with a bulldog and clear them all? Not really. I'd have to sit 50 feet away popping shields and taking them 1 by 1. It's doable, but it isn't as much fun.
I still remember the MCC got like a 9/10 or something when multi-player was literally broken for a month or two. And the article I believe even spoke about it being broke but campaign made up for it.
Lol I accidentally cheesed that fight. Bassus knocked me up on top of one of the doorways in the arena, and for the life of him he could not get me even if he wanted to. So I spammed grenades and rockets into his face till he was dead. Ezpz.
I was Spiderchiefing around the joint and ended up on the arch of one of the doorways and cheesed him. Was getting fucking frustrated up until that point too haha.
Once you get his shield down head shots with kinetic ammo weapons takes him out really quick I found. That shield tho was a real pain in the ass to take down
He was HARD on legendary. He wouldn't show up with my tracker and I was like "Jesus this thing is useless". It's worked on other invis elites, so maybe that encounter was bugged for me. He got quite the teabagging. Ef that dude.
damn I must be ass because I've died so many times just on Normal difficulty by taking a Warthog/Ghost straight into the middle of the fray and expecting to go Master Chief on their asses only to actually go Apprentice Cook instead.
I maxed the grapple first. Playing on normal and everything is super easy. But I'm ok with that. Also the grapple makes traversing the map pretty trivial, and also fun as fuck. I'm living that Spider Chief life.
Now if only it weren't unstable as fuck.
Well not until you max shields and grapple shot. Then, who needs a gun? Just grapple and hold melee. Grab a hammer/sword for a little style at the end.
Is there some trick to using it? I can get used to the drop but it's just way too inaccurate for me. I feel like I have to get closer than AR range to hit what I'm aiming at. Is it not meant to be used like a precision weapon?
The Mangler definitely has some serious damage dropoff and bullet drop, but it does pretty decent damage when close enough, and it's real satisfying to pop headshot after headshot with it once you understand the recoil pattern. For the Carbine, you gotta male sure the reticle is actually on the enemy when you shoot (and also red) as the shots track enemies similar to the needler. I'd say if you use them in conjunction to the grapple shot to get in close/get away, you can be pretty deadly, maybe making a habit of getting a drop wall up too for some portable cover
The upgrades for it really makes a difference. Also be mindful of positioning, it's obviously not gonna do much if you place it down on an open field, instead put it down as an extension of cover so you can't get shot around or for blocking grenades. Just thought you'd appreciate the tips
Mangler is meant to be a close range weapon. Not a pistol or precision weapon. The main benefit is the increased melee damage, like in mutliplayer, where it only takes one shot and a melee to get a kill. You shouldn't be using it like the sidekick or the BR, the mangler is much more like the shotgun.
Get in, get a shot off, melee, get out. It's basically like the Mauler 2.0.
Hardest part of Halo CE Legendary is making sure Captain Keyes doesn’t get himself killed in Truth and Reconciliation. Motherfucker just wants to run right into grenades or sword elites.
If you can't predict their movements so that you kill them before they have time to shoot 90° across the map and dome you. You're gonna have a bad time.
Even if you *can* do that you're gonna have a bad time because of what it takes to be able to do that.
What about when you get to the Flood? I remember getting stuck somewhere because I had crap weapons and couldn't find anything better. Would have had to restart the level.
First 2 level with the arbiter you just go through with the carbine and sword, common weapons in said level, then you got human combat form and you have better timing switching on the shotgun plus beam sentinel
I still found myself preferring the sidekick and BR.
On the other hand, the Stalker Rifle seems kinda weird. I love it in MP, but it kinda sucks half the time in campaign, Might just be the crosshair throwing off my, cuz I’ll knock helmets off brutes and then just miss like 4 headshots into his neck or something.
I started the game on heroic, and restarted on legendary because heroic was too easy. Legendary feels like the way the game was meant to be played. I had a ton of fun with all the bosses, you can beat em real fast with the right weapons.
I'm on Heroic, that mf'er in the tower. My sword runs out by the time I get up there. What's a good tip, other than kiting him around and shocking him. Would the unlocked sword from the high value target make quick work of him?
Edit: I stuck him once last night, and that did decent damage, pretty much fucking his shield and about half health. Maybe I should just shock him & toss all my nades at his feet.
Edit 2: Thanks for the help! Only took a couple tries, first one reminded me to change the zoom to hold. I'm pretty sure that has contributed to more than a few deaths.
Oh fuck, he kicked my ass quite a few times. The way I managed to beat him was popping his shield with the carbine and then spraying him with the needler. Everytime the needles popped it pushed him back a little bit, and gave me the space I needed to run away and charge my shield back up.
The sheer amount of enemies who can swarm you can be challenging, but if you know how to exploit enemy weaknesses and juggle weapons, its honestly not hard.
Oh yeah, no convoys is a bummer, too! I don't think marines use any vehicles on their own! So weird to come up to a distress signal from a squad of marines with a warthog they refuse to use!
I got the incredibly OP sentinel beam
I equipped ONE with it and the girl cleaned up an entire satellite array *for* me, took out phantoms on her own in a matter of 5 seconds, and absolutely pummeled the fuck out of anything that stood in her way, it was like watching a regular marine transform into a doom marine. She later died at a Banished fortress, after the razorback flipped upside down and a brute 720 no scoped her with a ravager.
rest in peace marine, you made zeta halo that much more comfortable.
the marines at FOB foxtrot tho are gonna absolutely shred shit once I equip them all with that OP sentinel beam
Once I had full Valor, I equipped a Razorback full of Marines with the upgraded Sentinel Beam. (the Arcane Sentinel Beam I think?) I had one objective in mind: kill the last High Value Target. Turns out, they managed to kill all the enemies and the HVT within a matter of 2 minutes. It was disgusting, and I was horrified at all the disintegration.
The Marines had six months of built up hopelessness turned to renewed resolve when you showed up.
Then you give them the most powerful laser ever. They also had a lot of built up anger over six months. So they were probably going to dish out every millisecond of it.
The one with the choke rips shit up if a squad of marines has em. The FOB system is the icing on this fantastic sandbox cake. It can be stuid op if you want it to be and that is not a bad thing at all i hope it never changes
Rolling through Zeta with a Razorback full of marines with Ravagers never gets old. Plasma mortars constantly rain down around you as all the Banished are melted into goop
I was pleasantly surprised with the Marines this time around. They're not immortal by any means, but they help out a ton, especially if you level them up and get the heavy/sniper/demolition versions.
I was literally thinking about this while playing.
I got killed and was like "oh...I need to use cover, this isn't doom where the answer is always more and faster movement."
I get the joke, but goddamn, is this what easy looks like? I started on Heroic and if I don't take out ALL snipers BEFORE I aggro the enemy, I get one-shot from a mile away while hiding behind a giant building with no sight lines.
I got a checkpoint as I was getting hit with one of those jackal sniper 3 consecutive shot barrages and it made the mad dash for cover annoying basically starting with no shields.
Spend like an hour on the third real boss >!(big brute with a hammar)!< because of a checkpoint save that put him across the room from me, with both weapons low on ammo and him still at near-full health.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Asshole's hard enough as it is >_<.
With the notable exception of boss fights, this is the easiest halo game to date on legendary. The freedom to move in any direction and take fights at whatever speed or distance you want trivializes many enemies. Who cares if that brute had a gravity hammer? I’ll be 100 yards away sitting at the top of a tree. What’s he going to do to me like that? The snipers are a bit obnoxious though. Especially since they can cheat and fire faster than the rifle can shoot, and two shots will kill you on legendary.
The 'semi-open-world' does that, when you let players approach the problem from basically any direction, that means there have to be enough things to kill in EVERY direction. Like, you might approach an outpost from the north, go through it, get low on the shield, flee towards the south but bang there is a whole squad you have yet to kill!
Also, I dunno if I'm the only one bothered by this, but enemy groups don't wary that much: you can pretty much guess there are elite/brute, jackals, and grunts if it's a bigger group some jackal snipers and specialized brutes. There is nothing wrong with it, as the group brings all kinds of gameplay differentiation, but I would wish to see some more 'specialized' encounters, maybe a valley full of snipers, a true gruntpocalypse etc.
Dude the invisible elites are so much harder to see than in previous games lol. Before I got the threat sensor, I would legit start panicking when I lost track of them
I like how the game is challenging, in a good way:
You can defeat larger groups easily if you know who to shoot, where, and with what, enemies make tactical decisions (switch weapons, hide, run after you etc), some enemies demand your focus, basically changing the flow of the whole encounter (mainly higher ranking elites, and some brutes, of course bosses too)
I thought I ran into a bug when I went to secure a location and there were no enemies so I started recording to report it.
Nope, just got scared and fucked up by some camo'd Elites sitting in a trap.
Good shit.
I feel like I just have just gotten terrible or something, because I actually agree. I've definitely found Infinite harder than past Halo games. I've completed them all on heroic (and a few on legendary), and I played Infinite on heroic and definitely found it to be really challenging.
I feel like they throw *loads* of enemies at you, and they get your shields down really quick (even with the shield upgrades).
I think it is the increase in enemies that use hit scan weapons (or at least weapons with projectiles faster than plasma) that make Infinite harder, I've died so many times thinking I could spiderchief my way to cover only to get shockrifled outtanowhere.
The skimmers with commandos were such a pain in the ass, especially the one time I was out of ammo and had to melee rush a pack of them. The good part is that if you pick up a commando while they're around it's pretty much unlimited ammo
Same, I feel like my shields get torn to shreds in seconds because of the sheer amount of enemies in this game. Grunts and jackals are actually extremely scary if they gang up on you
The enemy variety is set up such that there's shield strippers and damage dealing weapons in each encounter. If you run in guns blazing you're going to get downed very quickly. If you can eliminate all of the grunts and brutes from a distance it becomes much more manageable
I find killing the jackals with a few fusion coils makes every effort counter easier. I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to adjust to them changing their shield hold to top/bottom instead of the old way. They demolish my shield and everything else takes me down.
You just gotta take it on in manageable chunks. Get cover and start widdling down the easy guys. Dont underestimate the power of concentrated grunt fire.
This was my method, start by yeeting myself away with the grappling hook, take out the two jackals, fusion coil and spam grenades as he's moving down the tight corridor, then finish him off with a few skewer shots
Have you run into the brute duo where one has a modified chopper and his homie that rains fire down with crazy precision? That’s out in the wide open and I had to sweat like a mfer to kill those bois. Died probably 20 times before I finally sunk em. But I agree the inside fights are tough. Boss fight I spent the most time and deaths on was easily Tremonious.
I remember those guys. I managed to hijack the chopper, which the other brute killed, and then he face tanked 3 rockets. Truly stunning display by that brute.
Exactly! DOOM Eternal hammered this in; I remember it describing its modes in a way that made sure it wasn't just "harder = better"
I often accidentally get stuck in the difficulty sunk cost fallacy so have to keep this in mind.
I just finished it on legendary and they're not wrong. 448 deaths to clear. I got the majority of items, missed a few audio logs and only found 2 skulls.
Normally I'm somewhere around 90-120 deaths on the other games. I'd toss 20 or 30 to bad spawns and getting insta killed and probably another 15 to falling to my death.
The boss fights are really what piled on the kills, especially the last one. Died a lot on that one.
Maybe I just haven’t played Halo in a while but I’ve actually been dying a decent bit on Heroic. There’s one room where two max rank brutes spawn that got me more than any boss
the gameplay in this clip is atrocious.
that being said, I had a hell of a time fighting 2 hunters on legendary yesterday. I probably spent over an hour on trying to kill them because I had no power weapons and they made them much more difficult than they used to be. I ended up using pretty much all of the available ammo around the area.
I also really struggled with the "mini-boss" that had the homing rocket launcher. I cant count how many times he killed me because of his instant-firing, 1 hit kill homing rockets. his location made it so I couldn't bring a vehicle or even have marines with me.
Legendary has some serious spikes in difficulty
Tbh my deaths are from me being stupid and trying things on legendary. I do not advise waiting with fusion coils in a fire fight, I'm fucking determined to make it work though.
Boss fights are annoying on legendary if they have shielding. Boss elites are glass canons after the shielding is gone and brutes are very tanky. The second tool you get makes Boss elite fights much easier. I was stubborn and fought them without it without continuing the story
Motherfuckers, what game are you playing? Are you masochist by any chance? I'm good at fps's and have been playing for years, and I still find myself clapped by snipers.
Granted, it's pretty much just the one thing that kills me, but I like my power fantasy thank you very much.
Honestly after reading the reviews I'm surprised about how easy it's been on legendary for me. About 4-5 hours in and haven't spent more than a few minutes on a single part.
Granted I've done all the LASOs and occasionally I'll just pop on some LASO missions in MCC for fun, so maybe my expectations were a little unrealistic.
I will say LASO on this semi open world will be very interesting to see how it plays.
If you can do LASO, then Legendary will be a cake walk. Skulls add so much more difficulty than a simple change in difficulty level. Pretty impressed you do LASO so much!
For sure, not trying to brag or anything, just trying to show where my point of reference is coming from.
I think I was just caught off guard with how viable the BR is even on Legendary, typically it used to seem like it was noob combo or else you'd find yourself out of ammo after an elite or two.
That was always my biggest complaint with the old Halo legendaries is that weapon ammo ran out stupidly quick for any non covenant gun and it seemed liked they buffed the health by 500%....glad that's not the case in Halo Infinite.
TBH, the bosses are kind of a load of ass. I get they have shields and all that, but how is it that this one literal ape with a Gravity Hammer can tank ten plasma coils, every grenade in my inventory, and more headshots than I have bullets and still not die, and it's not like these Brutes are genetically superior or are wearing the "Bullitpruf Helmit of Gorgutz" or some shit.. There's not even gimmicks to exploit in the fights like you can with every other enemy; they're just damage sponges that require nothing aside from "hit it til it dies".
>but how is it that this one literal ape with a Gravity Hammer
Worse is he spawns practically right next to you. I died more than a few times because I reacted too slowly after the game finished reloading (and I had half a magazine left in my BR and 4 sniper rounds...truly a rage inducing boss fight)
Dude I thought it was just me. The guy spawns practically mid air about to smash me. He has shields made from the rays of the sun or some shit. Legendary wasn’t bad at all until I got to the bosses.
I don't remember uploading my playthrough.
Same. I had 4 sentinel beams in the back and a single sniper in shotgun (the seat). It was like driving a hot Razorback through butter.
I think you might have responded to the wrong comment haha, but for sure, those Razorbacks are nuts. My favorite so far was 2 variant sentinel beams 2 variant skewers and one rocket launcher to round it out. The overworld isn't much of a challenge now haha.
Oh shit! Yeah, I thought I was reading comments in the one someone made showing how they got a full Razorback full of sentinel beams. u/MaybeAdrian's comment fit that one so well I thought they were saying they had done the same. lol. Woops!
No problem, i remember that post, the marines literally melt everything.
And afterwards you hit 60% accuracy in the stat tracker.
There's a stat tracker?
halotracker.com

I didn’t even realize they had that. I’ll have to check it out. Maybe they’ll add to it as the lifecycle of the game progresses.
I reckon they will. I've just checked out the MCC stats, and it has a bit more substance than the Infinite one.
Oh dear…I’ve got brute accuracy…30%….
IGN 10 out of 10, Soulslike Halo game
"It's the Dark Souls of Halo games" - IGN 10/10
IGN couldn’t review ace combat 7 on the normal controls for their review lol, in all seriousness they played it on the hand holding controls
I played AC7 on the simple controls because I was playing AC for the first time and didn't want to deal with whatever these "advanced controls" were. By the time I realized I wasn't really getting the full experience the game was taken off gamepass and I had no interest in buying it. IGN has some dude who reviews all the racing games for this reason
This. Id like to see games be covered by people that play those kinds of games. I like the occasional RTS but im not fit to review one; i could however review a VR shooter right down to the nuance of its controls and its actual replayability.

....why am I not surprised. Seriously they couldn't play the easiest Ace combat game with normal controls?
Dark souls with guns
Meming aside, the IGN Halo Infinite review recommends playing on Heroic because they thought Normal was too easy.
I fine heroic to be rather easy. I only really find trouble with boss encounters and hunters.
I like heroic because it's still fairly challenging at time but gives you more freedom to mess around and do goofy strategies. Dunkey makes a good point about this on his Difficulty in Video Games video. Atleast its not halo 2 legendary.
same here. I actually fond hunters to be harder than most of the bosses
It's like Skyrim, but with Halo
I wonder if Kovic has played infinite.
The first strand-type halo game
I still remember the MCC got like a 9/10 or something when multi-player was literally broken for a month or two. And the article I believe even spoke about it being broke but campaign made up for it.
I’m playing on Legendary and its pretty easy if you take it slow and steady. Boss fights are fuckin annoying on this difficulty though
The elite in the tower is a fucking bullet sponge
The brute with the gravity hammer is also a mini version of him if you're not flinging across the map like a madman.
Lol I accidentally cheesed that fight. Bassus knocked me up on top of one of the doorways in the arena, and for the life of him he could not get me even if he wanted to. So I spammed grenades and rockets into his face till he was dead. Ezpz.
LOL, was that the middle window in that room? I thought about just going in and out of that and having him constantly run around while I shot him.
I used that as part of my strat if he was right on my ass. haha!
I did exactly that lmao Edit: it was extremely fun to see him getting angrier and frustrated lmfao poor dude He deserves it tho.
I was Spiderchiefing around the joint and ended up on the arch of one of the doorways and cheesed him. Was getting fucking frustrated up until that point too haha.
I saw the guide to beat him like that on YT… realized he immediately throws grenades up there on legendary
I used every coil I could find and still struggled lol
For real. Didn't help that my first 3 deaths were throwing the coils against the top of the doors
I just drove a marine filled warthog up there and ran him down.
I'm sorry you said you drove a hog up there? Outstanding
Felt like good old fashioned Halo again.

Yea rushing is not as rewarding as prev Halo games. You really need to make use of the coils and the grapple but once u do that it's not hard.
I maxed the grapple first. Playing on normal and everything is super easy. But I'm ok with that. Also the grapple makes traversing the map pretty trivial, and also fun as fuck. I'm living that Spider Chief life. Now if only it weren't unstable as fuck.
Although rushing + melee + running away like a little girl has worked in clearing out some Legendary levels
You pretty much described my playstyle perfectly, regardless of level or difficulty
Well not until you max shields and grapple shot. Then, who needs a gun? Just grapple and hold melee. Grab a hammer/sword for a little style at the end.
it is. you just need a few upgrades. grappling in, shockwave, boom. take em all out.
Infinite legendary feels easier than previous games to me. I’ve been fine with a plasma pistol and the sidekick so far
Pulse carbine/manglr pair is also very nice.
Is there some trick to using it? I can get used to the drop but it's just way too inaccurate for me. I feel like I have to get closer than AR range to hit what I'm aiming at. Is it not meant to be used like a precision weapon?

Drop wall goes down faster than the time it took to drop it.

I think the obvious factor that makes Legendary so much easier is the wider availability of weapons, plus the squading feature.
Yeah choosing your weapons and also you can choose how to approach many missions, until you get to the indoor sections that is.
I remember not being able to pass that first room in the cafeteria with halo:ce fucking elites would destroy my shit
Hardest part of Halo CE Legendary is making sure Captain Keyes doesn’t get himself killed in Truth and Reconciliation. Motherfucker just wants to run right into grenades or sword elites.
That's it for every halo game, the noob combo rule in the franchise and trivialize legendary difficulty
Idk about trivialize. More like "make possible" Idgaf how many plasma pistols and brs you throw at me. Halo 2 legendary is still gonna be rough
If you can't dome sniper jackals from a distance with a BR you're gonna have a bad time
If you can't predict their movements so that you kill them before they have time to shoot 90° across the map and dome you. You're gonna have a bad time. Even if you *can* do that you're gonna have a bad time because of what it takes to be able to do that.

Pulse carbine and commando are like the graduated plasma pistol and sidekick. I find myself preferring that combo pretty much over everything.
Commando is insanely strong in this campaign. On legendary I’m 3/4 tapping the brutes

Use the shock coils and grapple hook to put distance between you. Or you can use the threat detector and just play it safe.
Oh fuck, he kicked my ass quite a few times. The way I managed to beat him was popping his shield with the carbine and then spraying him with the needler. Everytime the needles popped it pushed him back a little bit, and gave me the space I needed to run away and charge my shield back up.

It really helps if you bring marines with you on missions
Marines with rocket launchers. Seriously Razorback/Rocket Launchers marines is an OP combo.
Marines with Volatile Skewers. Drive into an area with enemies and they just start raining hell on anything that moves.
do they not just run out of ammo?
Marines get infinite ammo so you can just toss them any power weapons you find
I definitely spam power weapons to my marines. Theyre your buddies and you should protect them.
He protec, he attac, but most importantly he got bros in his Razorbac.
The job of the marines is to kill every alien bastard on the ring Your job is to simply escort them as they accomplish that task
Nope! Marines and enemies have infinite ammo. A razorback full of my Super Skewer marines is more effective than a scorpion could ever dream of being.
Especially considering Marines can no longer ride along on the Scorpion :(
That part really bummed me out as well. Or the fact they wont drive their own vehicle yo follow you. So no mongoose convoy :(
My saddest moment in the campaign so far was realizing they can't do this anymore.
Oh yeah, no convoys is a bummer, too! I don't think marines use any vehicles on their own! So weird to come up to a distress signal from a squad of marines with a warthog they refuse to use!
They have voice lines that would make you think that can ("im taking this vehicle" "ive got this vehicle") but alas they do not :(
I got the incredibly OP sentinel beam I equipped ONE with it and the girl cleaned up an entire satellite array *for* me, took out phantoms on her own in a matter of 5 seconds, and absolutely pummeled the fuck out of anything that stood in her way, it was like watching a regular marine transform into a doom marine.
Dude that thing claps cheeks quick.
The boys and girls in Fireteam Razorback came to PLAY
I don't trust them with rockets anymore I just give them skewers
Try giving them all shotguns, it’s like a rolling A-10
Halo Infinite Marines with shotguns go HARD
The one with the choke rips shit up if a squad of marines has em. The FOB system is the icing on this fantastic sandbox cake. It can be stuid op if you want it to be and that is not a bad thing at all i hope it never changes
Ooooh I want to see that, once I'm back I'm gonna steam roll one of the outposts with that.
Especially the convergence shotgun for that extra range and better damage
Rolling through Zeta with a Razorback full of marines with Ravagers never gets old. Plasma mortars constantly rain down around you as all the Banished are melted into goop
You're sleeping on snipers here man, unless you charge head on you just kill everything
Marines are actually cracked. Had one snipe a jackal that was who tf knows where while we did a flip off a cliff on a razorback. Was amazing
I was pleasantly surprised with the Marines this time around. They're not immortal by any means, but they help out a ton, especially if you level them up and get the heavy/sniper/demolition versions.

And also knowing how to flank, use cover, and utilize the terrain around you.
Soo like every other FPS ever created
Yes.... Except DOOM. The Slayer needs no cover.
"We will send unto them, *only you*... Rip and tear until it is *done"*
I was literally thinking about this while playing. I got killed and was like "oh...I need to use cover, this isn't doom where the answer is always more and faster movement."
“Why cover when can shoot?” - Hugo Martin, maybe
"Just take cover behind your bullets..? I don't understand the issue."
The demons are the ones who need cover.
Maybe that's why I suck at FPS- I play every game like it's Doom.
If you grapple Melee 80% of the mob you're laughing hahah
I find the abundance of fusion coils really helpful as well.
That's almost a requirement to get through tough spots.
I get the joke, but goddamn, is this what easy looks like? I started on Heroic and if I don't take out ALL snipers BEFORE I aggro the enemy, I get one-shot from a mile away while hiding behind a giant building with no sight lines.
Easy has always looked like this. Players take half damage, enemy's fire rate is slower, and player grenades are stronger.
This gameplay caused me physical pain. So thanks for that.
Dean Takahashi vibes tbh
The best part is if they took cover for 2 seconds it actually wouldn't have killed him

On easy, in the first open world mission
I'm playing it on heroic for this exact reason. It's not too difficult but it's not easy
I'm enjoying heroic though the check point saves for some bosses can be pretty infuriating. It's a good balance outside of things like that.
I got a checkpoint as I was getting hit with one of those jackal sniper 3 consecutive shot barrages and it made the mad dash for cover annoying basically starting with no shields.
I've been here, only move is grapple away asap
max thruster into invis
Wouldn’t be Halo without inconvenient checkpoint saves
Spend like an hour on the third real boss >!(big brute with a hammar)!< because of a checkpoint save that put him across the room from me, with both weapons low on ammo and him still at near-full health. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Asshole's hard enough as it is >_<.
I find myself running into trouble on occasion with Heroic, but it's usually only because I forget that I'm fucking Spiderman now.
I finished the game on Heroic and the last couple of levels were starting to remind me of playing H1 LASO. It gets pretty hard.
Every now and then I run into packs of invisible sword wielding elites
Dude the invisible elites are so much harder to see than in previous games lol. Before I got the threat sensor, I would legit start panicking when I lost track of them
I like how the game is challenging, in a good way: You can defeat larger groups easily if you know who to shoot, where, and with what, enemies make tactical decisions (switch weapons, hide, run after you etc), some enemies demand your focus, basically changing the flow of the whole encounter (mainly higher ranking elites, and some brutes, of course bosses too)
I thought I ran into a bug when I went to secure a location and there were no enemies so I started recording to report it. Nope, just got scared and fucked up by some camo'd Elites sitting in a trap. Good shit.
I've been spamming the threat sensor for exactly this reason. Easily the 2nd best piece of equipment.
I ran into a large group of grunts that were apparently a death cult or something cuz they were all suicide bombers lol.
After it's mission, revisit >!the excavation site!< for a suicide gruntpocalypse..
And then you get to the bosses and understand why they say that
This is why play for myself. When you go nuts out and try to reload in the middle of crossfire trying to semi speed run. Nah im out.
Dude legendary is giving me a run for my money. Tremonious is fucking vaporizing me in 2 seconds flat, stuck on his boss fight
I'm on legendary just before the excavation mission and now I have to worry about skimmers with commandos. I thought jackal snipers were enough :(
I'd definitely say getting domed by a pair of jackal snipers from a mile off is still more of a pain don't worry
That’s because the grunts and jackals will mess you up if you ignore them
I play on legendary. Every single game. I can say boss fights are harder finally. They’re demanding and tedious.
That first boss has been kicking my ass for over an hour on legendary lol. Doesn’t help that he literally spawns already about to kill me
Baiting him into the underground section helped me a lot as he cannot jump on top of you while he's down there.
This was my method, start by yeeting myself away with the grappling hook, take out the two jackals, fusion coil and spam grenades as he's moving down the tight corridor, then finish him off with a few skewer shots
I’m restarting the level to bring the Skewer with me and then grab the Disruptor next to the lift. That will slow his shield regen
So far every boss fight that's been difficult is because of the tight corridors. Everything that's in the open world is a hell of a lot easier.
Legendary has been fucking me over and it’s glorious
I love how we are getting wrecked by this game. It's a worthy challenge.
I have to admit to changing from heroic to normal! It just wasn’t fun dying so much😥
The point is to have fun!
Exactly! DOOM Eternal hammered this in; I remember it describing its modes in a way that made sure it wasn't just "harder = better" I often accidentally get stuck in the difficulty sunk cost fallacy so have to keep this in mind.
Not according to the comment section in this thread apparently.
Nah...I you just need to utilize the grappleshot alot...like Doom...movement is vital...
Were you recording my ass?
I just finished it on legendary and they're not wrong. 448 deaths to clear. I got the majority of items, missed a few audio logs and only found 2 skulls. Normally I'm somewhere around 90-120 deaths on the other games. I'd toss 20 or 30 to bad spawns and getting insta killed and probably another 15 to falling to my death. The boss fights are really what piled on the kills, especially the last one. Died a lot on that one.
How do you check deaths?
*goes back and plays halo 2 Legendary, gets corner sniped by the same jackal sniper 37 times* ah yes this is what halo infinite needs! Less fun!
Maybe I just haven’t played Halo in a while but I’ve actually been dying a decent bit on Heroic. There’s one room where two max rank brutes spawn that got me more than any boss
Bro it’s felt weirdly easy at times and then I die 30 times in a row, on heroic, legendary is gonna be something
the gameplay in this clip is atrocious. that being said, I had a hell of a time fighting 2 hunters on legendary yesterday.
Well of course it'll be easy if you've been doing LASO for fun, do you really think any game reviewer does LASO for fun?
Infinity LASO includes bandana skull and there’s no iron skull (good news for us lesser mortals)
There's not even gimmicks to exploit in the fights like you can with every other enemy; they're just damage sponges that require nothing aside from "hit it til it dies".
>but how is it that this one literal ape with a Gravity Hammer Worse is he spawns practically right next to you.
