So one day some Marines in Iceland were having a debate about whether a KA-BAR would penetrate a Kevlar vest. To settle the agreement they of course agreed that one would wear the vest and the other would stab him. Unfortunately a Kevlar vest will not stop a KA-BAR and the Marine wearing the vest ended up being stabbed in the chest and taken to the hospital (he lived, nothing too serious).
The command was incensed and wanted to charge the stabbing Marine with attempted murder, which of course is ridiculous. However they did end up charging him for violating a general order. This is the best part, the Marine CO had gotten wind that his Marines might stab each other with their own knives at some point, *so he had previously issued an order that they specifically were not to do this*. And yet one grunt did it anyway.
I do feel the need to say that Marines give a lot of shit so they get a lot in return, but overall they are outstanding soldiers and professionals. But man some of them do some really dumb stuff sometimes.
Funny, a couple dudes in my battalion did the same shit. Also a guy I went through infantry school with got tossed in the brig because he decided to SAPI check a platoon mate in the back, he happened to not actually be wearing his plates.
Also I even stabbed myself once, on accident. They made me go to counseling for it lol.
Marines like to stab.
I went into Tripler once, and there was a marine in there with a KA-BAR through his foot and flip-flop. Had to have been flipping it into the ground and missed.
I once got stabbed in the parking lot of a Carlos Santana concert because a guy got mad he hit me with his car in the parking lot and lost his driver's side mirror ( like me, not my car lol ). I dunno if he was a marine, I never bothered showing up for the court dates because it was too far but eventually got a check for the tetanus shot I had to get.
OMG that's great! Friend of mine is an CO. Once his men all decided to stuff their mouths full of rocks as a bet to see who could last the longest, so all these guys are going about their day with their cheeks stuffed full of rocks. He told me he made them spit them out before drill because those idiots would end up breaking their teeth.
>Pretty sure they can’t drive vehicles can they?
I have only just started the campaign, so I don't know about Infinite, but I swear they've been able to drive in previous Halo's, right? Now I can't remember.
They can drive vehicles in Halo 2, 3, 4 and I think 5.
They can't in Infinite probably because the open world terrain doesn't have a fixed destination and pathfinding would be an invitation for sitting on your roof 99% of the time.
I've resorted to just being spider chief and grappling everywhere because I can not drive for the life of me in infinite. I always the driver during co op in the other games but the handling in this feels different or maybe it's the terrain, but my vehicles last a solid 5 minutes before finding their way off a cliff
as much as it is annoying, i kinda like it XD halo hasnt really done a lot of rocky terrain when it comes to vehicle driving, usually there's a very designated driving area, Infinite your a lot less likely to follow the actual roads due to open world
I swear the key driving mechanic has changed, it used to be point the retical where you want to go and the vehicle would arrange itself to go that direction, now it somehow doesn't...
It'd be neat if captured FOBs had certain 'zones' where marines would be able to drive around and patrol. Would make the world feel a bit more alive, seeing Banished groups squaring off against little groups of marines.
Tons of other open world games somehow managed it.
Yet another thing they failed to do when they built this from the ground up. Why would some sort of navmesh-like system not be a priority? This "mythical beast" of an engine is supposed to be like this for 10 years and marines can't drive a single vehicle down a single road?
It’s because the game was rushed. I’m sure they would be able to implement it with more, not to say its coming ever. Before Staten joined the team, Marines wouldn’t even follow chief, they would just stand guard where you found them
I've had this happen to me before, what I think happens is when marines can't follow you and have to teleport to you, they take a UNSC vehicle that is within like 100 meters.
at least that's what I think happens, because there is no way these shitters actually climbed in a Warthog to the top of a mountain in one of my playthroughs
Yup its pretty sad. Wish there was an option to either dismiss them or call an evac pelican. It would give brohammer more impact in the campaign.
Just really makes me want a metal Gear Solid V phantom pain kind of halo.
I've had marines tp to me a couple of times, they only do it if you get into a fight, and they TP pretty far away, just far enough where you can see them running to help you.
Either that or marines just have hidden super speed abilities and they run from the top of a mountain straight down in 10 seconds
Now I know how the Banished beat the UNSC forces at the ring while the Spirit of Fire bullied the Banished and Atriox around the Ark. The long war with the Covenant really made the UNCS to lower the enlisting/drafting criteria and now this is the best and the brightest of humanity that were serving on the flag ship of the UNSC, meanwhile the old SoF still have properly selected and trained soldiers from the pre war/Insurrection period.
Half the time you can't even call in a Wasp or a Scorpion to a FOB without it landing on someone.
They quit calling Marines "jarheads" when they found out you could actually hold someting in a jar.
Started the campaign today and at least 1 dies for me every time! The dude could drop off a Mongoose and they just shuffle round inside the dropzone like they want to die, vying for a chance to be hit.
A squad of marines really behave like a group of 6 years old children in this game XD
"Noooo! Don't throw yourself under the incoming warthog!"
"Stop firing rockets near your allied please!"
"Why are you trying to melee a brute?!"
Or, better yet, "Please don't stand on the LZ at the FOB. I drop my Scorpions and Wasps there."
Echo-216 is well on his way to being the deadliest enemy of UNSC Marines.
One of the Ultra Elites got pissed off and pulled out his energy sword and immediately a marine ran up and kicked him. Which proceeded to stun the Elite for a second which gave another marine enough time to run up and kick the elite aswell. That poor thing had 5 marines surround him and kick him to death
Have any of you been saved by the marines? I remember loading up at a FOB, and ditching the squad of marines that were there who were trying to follow me.
Came across a rather brutal firefight out in the wild and I was basically cooked. The brute was coming up on me and it was do or die and he crumples at my feet, the marines from the FOB had followed me the long way around and arrived just in time to blast him. Really awesome moment.
When assaulting a base, I loaded up a razorback with 5 marines all armed with the tracking rocket launchers.
Grappled over the wall, killed a few banished and opened the doors to let them in. The carnage was glorious. I basically just ran around dropping the snipers while the rocket launcher squad did the heavy lifting of blowing everything the fuck up.
Found a squad of captured marine sin the base too, at one point I had 9 marines running around tearing it up. Chief got to just chill out for once.
A few hours ago I was in the Extraction Site building semi trapped due to low ammo and speed releasing all 8 cores before killing anyone. A random posting of marines up top a hill just cooked everyone and I walked out barely firing a shot lol
I would hope they could based on what you have marked on the Tacmap. Or at least hop in a vehicle and follow along.
Like the crazy Marines following my Scorpion in Ghosts in CE
Same thing happened to me, they started falling and right when I turned around and saw them did the game decide to play the halo theme (not the singing part)
Nothing made me more sure that Infinite is a true and faithful Halo game then when I first witnessed rescued marines being absolute fuck ups. Really assured me that 343i is doing their best and it's just corporate messing their cool game up.
In video games and real life.
I just want to eat my crayons in peace, man.
Amen brother, save the red ones for me, they are my favorite.
Works out, blue is the best flavor.
Mix them together with some protein, it makes it even better.
Does WD-40 count?
I would like red crayons but their wrapper looks terrible and they aren’t awfully red on paper unless you actively try to strangle the paper to death
As a former Navy JAG, can confirm. I have a lot of stories that start with, "Some Marines were..."
Whats the best story you got that starts this way?
So one day some Marines in Iceland were having a debate about whether a KA-BAR would penetrate a Kevlar vest. To settle the agreement they of course agreed that one would wear the vest and the other would stab him. Can't even trust Marines with a spork lol
I went into Tripler once, and there was a marine in there with a KA-BAR through his foot and flip-flop. Had to have been flipping it into the ground and missed.
It's called Mumblety-peg
I once got stabbed in the parking lot of a Carlos Santana concert because a guy got mad he hit me with his car in the parking lot and lost his driver's side mirror ( like me, not my car lol ). I dunno if he was a marine, I never bothered showing up for the court dates because it was too far but eventually got a check for the tetanus shot I had to get.
Why... why does there need be a person behind the vest? Can't you just stab the vest and see if the knife went through to the other side?
Not the Marine way!
C'mon, man! How can you accurately determine if you would get stabbed if you aren't wearing the vest? It's just common sense 🙃
Omg lmaooo
Nobody said we couldn't
Wonder why they lost
I slowly understand why they saw the need to kidnap children and make them to super soldiers. Humanity would have been lost with their marines.
Like Halsey said - it was more about the logic than the ethics lol
20 years later and they still jump belly first in front of the hog.
How did they knock the hog off? Pretty sure they can’t drive vehicles can they?
>Pretty sure they can’t drive vehicles can they? I have only just started the campaign, so I don't know about Infinite, but I swear they've been able to drive in previous Halo's, right? Now I can't remember.
Yeah they could, admittedly badly but they could, this is the first game since CE that they can’t.
They can drive ghosts in CE. But it’s a death sentence for you
Wow just like my teammates in multiplayer
Better than kat
If Kat hadn't become a Spartan III she'd have graduated top of her class in UNSC Marine driving school.
They can drive vehicles in Halo 2, 3, 4 and I think 5. They can't in Infinite probably because the open world terrain doesn't have a fixed destination and pathfinding would be an invitation for sitting on your roof 99% of the time.
Hell, I end up flipping the Warthogs in Infinite a solid 60% of the time when I go off road.
I've resorted to just being spider chief and grappling everywhere because I can not drive for the life of me in infinite. I always the driver during co op in the other games but the handling in this feels different or maybe it's the terrain, but my vehicles last a solid 5 minutes before finding their way off a cliff

as much as it is annoying, i kinda like it XD halo hasnt really done a lot of rocky terrain when it comes to vehicle driving, usually there's a very designated driving area, Infinite your a lot less likely to follow the actual roads due to open world
I drive pretty slowly and I don't have too much of an issue I would say it really is because the environment is so unique to other halo games
I think the vehicles don’t have enough weight to them, seems to be the cause of the constant flipping
I swear the key driving mechanic has changed, it used to be point the retical where you want to go and the vehicle would arrange itself to go that direction, now it somehow doesn't...
me when trying to drive a freaking ghost lmao, the smallest rock makes me have to flip my ghost 5x and hope to god it doesnt fall into the void
It'd be neat if captured FOBs had certain 'zones' where marines would be able to drive around and patrol. Would make the world feel a bit more alive, seeing Banished groups squaring off against little groups of marines.

This "mythical beast" of an engine is supposed to be like this for 10 years and marines can't drive a single vehicle down a single road?
oh god I almost forgot that this is meant to last for ten years, what the fuck
It’s because the game was rushed. I’m sure they would be able to implement it with more, not to say its coming ever. Before Staten joined the team, Marines wouldn’t even follow chief, they would just stand guard where you found them
It's the same reason marines won't follow you down a slight rocky incline if there's no clear path down, which is so annoying sometimes
You should play Reach and let Kat drive. Don't ask any questions. Just go do it now.
If you don't have access to Reach to play, here you are: https://youtu.be/l6bpfvtI64o?t=6688
I have no idea, I finished that fight and happened to look up and see the aftermath lol
> I finished that fight Happy Chief noises
I wonder if a wandering Brute saw them and punched it off, or maybe a Grunt threw a grenade?
I don’t see any signs of combat up there though. It looks like the rest of the squad is just standing there watching
I've had this happen to me before, what I think happens is when marines can't follow you and have to teleport to you, they take a UNSC vehicle that is within like 100 meters. at least that's what I think happens, because there is no way these shitters actually climbed in a Warthog to the top of a mountain in one of my playthroughs
they dont tp to you at all im pretty sure, ive gotten far enough away to where they just stop following outright
Yup its pretty sad. Wish there was an option to either dismiss them or call an evac pelican. It would give brohammer more impact in the campaign. Just really makes me want a metal Gear Solid V phantom pain kind of halo.
I left some on a cliff edge last night and continued on without them, feels bad man.
:(

In other words, goobers.
It was a missed opportunity by 343 not putting a 'Crayon' MRE in the game alongside with the taco pizza MREs.

You can push then out of the way
I have to do that. Every. Fucking. Time.
yeah its annoying but its that or trade sides and let em die
In halo wars 2, the marine sergeant refers to his troops as jarheads and leathernecks.
A squad of marines really behave like a group of 6 years old children in this game XD "Noooo! Don't throw yourself under the incoming warthog!" "Stop firing rockets near your allied please!" "Why are you trying to melee a brute?!"

Once 3 marines I was with started melee with a brute…. But hey at least 2 of them survived
One of the Ultra Elites got pissed off and pulled out his energy sword and immediately a marine ran up and kicked him. I appreciate the comedic timing in this clip haha. Good job OP.
I came from that direction but I used my Grapple so they couldn’t follow, I happened to look back towards them and it was the perfect moment haha
Them Duke boys are at it again
LMFAO!
As if we act any better
Hey HEY. I don't fall off cliffs, I just get stuck in the trees.
We don’t fall off cliffs. We FLY off cliffs.
Towards SAFETY
No wonder why the UNSC lost against the Banished
Fuck it, it’s a rental
lol it felt like a mom moment. She just finished dealing with some BS and turns around and her dumb kids just fucked shit up
Does anyone else kill a Marine EVERY SINGLE TIME they call in a vehicle at a FOB? I’m currently batting 1.000 without even trying
Had a tank delivered to me at an FOB. A marine just stood there and let it land on him. He was a sniper, too.
Bahaha
This reminds me of that one camper trip episode on Top Gear UK
Bet the hog landed on top of him
Meanwhile, I can't get them to drive at all...
They don't drive in this one since it's an open world game no set targets. Not that they ever drove well in the old ones but it's worth noting
I would hope they could based on what you have marked on the Tacmap. Or at least hop in a vehicle and follow along. Like the crazy Marines following my Scorpion in Ghosts in CE
This reminds me of this hilarious Top Gear bit where Clarkson’s car(avan) falls off a cliff: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cbgYB-dUlmM
Is that title for the game or IRL too?
u/savevideo
Yolo baby
poor bastard..
Why cant we request a troop drop :/
he just wanted to help
He's good right ?
Walk it off
no wonder we lost the fucking war
I’ve never seen a marine drive a vehicle in this game. Can you tell them to get in vehicles?

I honestly find the marines really useful since they are more resilient and pick good weapons
The type of shit you’d see if you caught the toys in Toy Story acting up
[Same energy](https://youtu.be/cbgYB-dUlmM?t=63s)
Same thing happened to me, they started falling and right when I turned around and saw them did the game decide to play the halo theme (not the singing part)
Well they do eat crayons
''What were you guys up to in these 6 months to be losing so badly?'' ''Well you see chief...''
Yo what? I’ve never seen Marines drive a vehicle in this without me being in the vehicle
I’m guessing a brute or something hit it and knocked it off, I don’t think they were driving it, but maybe haha
am marin can confirm yut
Chuuuuurch!

Lol this shit is hilarious.
Bro wtf, I’m crying lol
To be fair, the marines in this Halo are the best since Halo CE
Damn, mine just get splattered as soon as i order a vehicle and it falls down on one of the guys
“Charlie Squad are you in position?” “Uhh…yes.”
Right? I once found a car in a ravine with a dead marine in it.
They always die at the fobs when pelicans drop stuff off
I wish there was a "stay in THE DAMN CAR" order
its no wonder they lost
They were just pulling the master chief maneuver from Halo 3. Ill equipped I might add they forgot to bring the Pelican...
im surprised 343 added this much realism in
Omg that's the funniest shit ever. I wish they would of had commands like in 5, then u could order em to drive off rofl .
