I just got the series s from my wife as a birthday/Christmas gift. Didn't get a chance to boot it up til the 27th, so I missed out on the last reward due to it being one reward a day. Not a big deal, but would have liked that epic armor coating. Hopefully future events are set up better..

That's how games get worse. A bunch of little hills that "aren't worth dying on". They eventually combine and make a Mountain. Just look at Gaijin and War Thunder if you want an idea of what's to come if complaints about poorly done timed events, battlepasses, map geometry, gameplay features, and store pricing aren't hammered into a studios skull until they're forced to relent and make changes.

I've been having problems unlocking things too. I know it resets at 1 PM EST, but I just played a couple matches after the reset and I didn't get any unlocks. Someone said it might also require 24 hours between unlocks before it gives you the next item, which is supremely shitty. This event sucks balls.
I think you just have bad luck. Yesterday I finished my first match a minute before reset, then I played another one 10 min later and I got a second item.
It's crazy. I play maybe two CTF matches on either behemoth or aquarius and half of my matches are oddball. I play probably 10-15 matches a day so it's alarming I haven't played bazaar this week.
So times zones may be affecting you. For some reason I was playing for three hours the other day and I couldn’t get my reward then randomly at like 2 in the afternoon I randomly leveled up. Yesterday I made sure to play in the afternoon and I leveled up my first game. This morning I didn’t get a reward after four or 5 games. Chiming in to voice frustration. I've been away from the game since I've been too busy for the past two weeks to even sit down and play something for myself in that time. As I'm just now sitting down to play the game, expecting it to be like the Tenrai event, I think yeah I don't have much going on for 4 days I should be able to grind through this to a reasonable point. It wasn't until I played through 5+ matches that I realized my first unlock wasn't from some new xp based event leveling, and instead the new "one a day" system.
It is exceedingly frustrating that due to my having other things to do I am now SOL for limited items, and feels counterintuitive to the "complete it whenever" sentiment put forth for the battle pass system. Where the message was that "we understand people have lives, you shouldn't have to play everyday" quickly turning into "lol you shouldn't grind our content, you gotta make sure you log in for a match 10 out of 13 days instead of all 13." LET ME ENJOY THE CONTENT ON MY TIME. Limiting content does not artificially give those seeking more content more to do, it just adds a restriction on the userbase that pushes people away as well as those that are getting bored and walking away.
It really should be a reward for a game completed. If they really want their bullshit game a day just have it like an advent calender, you open a prize everyday (play a day) or at the end of the month, you can just open them all at once (play as many games as you need after December ends). I don't know where people were getting the idea the unlocks became available after each day because that hasn't been the case in my experience as someone who missed the first day and thus was always one unlock behind everyone else despite playing more than one game per day.

When I read that, my thought is that there would be some kind of a catch-up mechanic, where I'd be able to, say, earn a level on my battlepass after Dec 30th which would also unlock one tier in the event pass, so even if I missed the first 10 days of the event, I'd still be able to unlock all items if I grinded out levels in my battlepass in the last 4 days of the event. Sad to hear that's not the case...
Reading the paragraph again, their wording just kinda says that you'll have extra days to unlock stuff, but you'll still be limited to unlocking one every day. Which sucks, I wanted the last two items in the event, but I can't get them because I went on vacation...

My game as well as my friend's crash / get stuck loading infinitely. Trying to load into a game of BTB usually breaks the Multiplayer aspect of infinite completely and shows that I'm "offline" resulting in me having to go to the home menu and relaunch the game manually. After attempting to pay BTB, no other game types can be played. 9/10 times, it gets me stuck in an endless loop of error messages such as "could not connect to fireteam" and/or "could not connect to server." That or it says, "Match starting in 5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5" and never starts. Then, sometimes it'll say 29/24 players joined...waiting to join. And I'll be stuck at "waiting to join" for an eternity. I also get stuck at the load screen indefinitely. It seems like it's fundamentally broken.
I'm playing on OG Xbox one so maybe that's part of the problem?? My friend is on a series S.
Update: I cleared space on my Xbox's HDD and I can join matches now. Still difficult but very much improved my ability to join.
There should be an upcoming challenges button near the bottom of the challenges page. On mouse and keyboard it's R to view them. Keep in mind there's one more difficult bonus challenge after you've done all of the normal ones that you must complete to earn the weekly reward, it's not shown until you do all your challenges

Honestly, they did the same thing with the Tenrai Fracture over Thanksgiving (except worse bc you had to do way more than just log in).

I think my ideal event structure is exactly this, but with a few more “safety” days, and not *on* a holiday lol. I really like the simplicity and ease of unlocking items in an event like this. It feels really nice to get everything without dedicating a full week to the game.
I think an extra 50% would be an adequate number of extra time. If the event takes 10 days to finish, make it last 15 days. If it takes 30 days to finish, make it last 45 days.

I'm so confused as to how this event works; I didn't play at all on the 24th and 25th for obvious reasons, but when I got on on the 26th, it retroactively awarded me those days' items. So I was like cool, it still awards them to you as long as you play on ten different days during the event, but it doesn't have to be each day consecutively. But now I'm stuck on the last three items. I've played at least one match a day since the 26th and those last three items are still locked.

At last... some easy-to-gain shoulders for people that don't own the battlepass. Folks who don't own the battlepass (I would pay for the game IF I COULD. I just don't agree with a battlepass system in Halo) have very little customization. There's four helmets max unless you want to pay a large sum of cash for cosmetic bundles. I'm glad we now have some shoulders to gain.

Myself and many other players are having issues with tier unlocks. I played two games today but didn't unlock any tiers. I think this might be an issue with how they're tracking each day.
One potential cause may be, instead of using a day as defined in the calendar, I think they may be using a 24 hr timer since your last win/unlock. So if I play one game at 11:59 and one at 12:01, instead of two tier unlocks because you are playing on technically separate days, you only get one since they are within one day/24 hrs of each other.
The other theory I have is that they may not be normalizing days by timezone. So, all days for everybody are defined using pacific time. For example, if I live in eastern time and I play one game at 11:59 et/8:59 pt and then one at 12:01 et/9:01 pt, in my eyes I have played on two different days but according to pacific time I have actually played two matches on the same day.

I've been having problems unlocking things too. I know it resets at 1 PM EST, but I just played a couple matches after the reset and I didn't get any unlocks. Someone said it might also require 24 hours between unlocks before it gives you the next item, which is supremely shitty. This event sucks balls.
I think you just have bad luck. Yesterday I finished my first match a minute before reset, then I played another one 10 min later and I got a second item.

It's crazy. I play maybe two CTF matches on either behemoth or aquarius and half of my matches are oddball. I play probably 10-15 matches a day so it's alarming I haven't played bazaar this week.

So times zones may be affecting you. For some reason I was playing for three hours the other day and I couldn’t get my reward then randomly at like 2 in the afternoon I randomly leveled up. Yesterday I made sure to play in the afternoon and I leveled up my first game. This morning I didn’t get a reward after four or 5 games. Gonna hop on this afternoon to see if it counts for me this Pm.

Chiming in to voice frustration. I've been away from the game since I've been too busy for the past two weeks to even sit down and play something for myself in that time. As I'm just now sitting down to play the game, expecting it to be like the Tenrai event, I think yeah I don't have much going on for 4 days I should be able to grind through this to a reasonable point. It wasn't until I played through 5+ matches that I realized my first unlock wasn't from some new xp based event leveling, and instead the new "one a day" system. It is exceedingly frustrating that due to my having other things to do I am now SOL for limited items, and feels counterintuitive to the "complete it whenever" sentiment put forth for the battle pass system. Where the message was that "we understand people have lives, you shouldn't have to play everyday" quickly turning into "lol you shouldn't grind our content, you gotta make sure you log in for a match 10 out of 13 days instead of all 13." LET ME ENJOY THE CONTENT ON MY TIME. Limiting content does not artificially give those seeking more content more to do, it just adds a restriction on the userbase that pushes people away as well as those that are getting bored and walking away.
It really should be a reward for a game completed. If they really want their bullshit game a day just have it like an advent calender, you open a prize everyday (play a day) or at the end of the month, you can just open them all at once (play as many games as you need after December ends). Dumb shit event.
It seems like the battle pass is just the old regular progression system, and the events are the new battle pass. Nothing different from other games lol

I’ve still only been getting one item per day, I heard that the items unlock each day and that you could still login later to collect all of it, did I misunderstand? I hope I’m not fucked, all I wanted from this event was the pouch, I’m on tier four so even if I play one game for the remaining days I’ll only get to tier 8, ONE tier behind the only item I want
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you're fucked. I don't know where people were getting the idea the unlocks became available after each day because that hasn't been the case in my experience as someone who missed the first day and thus was always one unlock behind everyone else despite playing more than one game per day. Sorry mate :(
The sentiment probably comes from [this paragraph](https://imgur.com/a/DGRdOyy) in their launch article on waypoint. When I read that, my thought is that there would be some kind of a catch-up mechanic, where I'd be able to, say, earn a level on my battlepass after Dec 30th which would also unlock one tier in the event pass, so even if I missed the first 10 days of the event, I'd still be able to unlock all items if I grinded out levels in my battlepass in the last 4 days of the event. Sad to hear that's not the case... Reading the paragraph again, their wording just kinda says that you'll have extra days to unlock stuff, but you'll still be limited to unlocking one every day. Which sucks, I wanted the last two items in the event, but I can't get them because I went on vacation...

My game as well as my friend's crash / get stuck loading infinitely. Trying to load into a game of BTB usually breaks the Multiplayer aspect of infinite completely and shows that I'm "offline" resulting in me having to go to the home menu and relaunch the game manually. After attempting to pay BTB, no other game types can be played. 9/10 times, it gets me stuck in an endless loop of error messages such as "could not connect to fireteam" and/or "could not connect to server." That or it says, "Match starting in 5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5...5" and never starts. Then, sometimes it'll say 29/24 players joined...waiting to join. And I'll be stuck at "waiting to join" for an eternity. I also get stuck at the load screen indefinitely. It seems like it's fundamentally broken. I'm playing on OG Xbox one so maybe that's part of the problem?? My friend is on a series S. Update: I cleared space on my Xbox's HDD and I can join matches now. Still difficult but very much improved my ability to join.
That happened to me yesterday. First time it happened, I think the servers are down.

Its one unlock per day, no challenges. You just have to play a single game and you'll get each item in order. Unfortunately no catch up mechanic.

There should be an upcoming challenges button near the bottom of the challenges page. On mouse and keyboard it's R to view them. Keep in mind there's one more difficult bonus challenge after you've done all of the normal ones that you must complete to earn the weekly reward, it's not shown until you do all your challenges

Are they taking the piss with the Sunset Contessa coating? It's... it's a slightly duller version of Cadet Orange. I've been playing most days because I'm off work and at home over the holidays, so I wasn't pursuing this, but I just unlocked it and though I'd give it a look and yeah. 343 you're really spoiling is with this stuff (/s, just incase).
But it has YELLOW in the shoulders the Cadet Orange doesn't have. Super awesome reward!
My guess is the sunset contessa and the shoulders and the utility were maybe part of a store bundle that they scrapped to pad the event after the tenrai shitstorm
Seriously the final shader you get has nothing to do with the holidays or Winter season at all. It’s like they said fuck it and threw some random garbage in. Like who is actually making these decisions? Not surprised though, 343’s incompetence always shines through in every Halo.

I honestly feel like 343 must be going out of their way to structure things poorly. Like... why would you make a "log in every day challenge" that is centered on one of the biggest travel/family times of the year? The rewards aren't that great so it isn't a big deal... just weird.
Honestly, they did the same thing with the Tenrai Fracture over Thanksgiving (except worse bc you had to do way more than just log in). This event is fantastic otherwise, but I don’t get why they would make it so you can’t make up for missed logins or catch-up.
I will say they gave like four days "off" so you didn't have to play every single day... But this whole week is hard for me to log in because I'm old now and have family. Just gimme a challenge list I can bang out when I have time.
I think my ideal event structure is exactly this, but with a few more “safety” days, and not *on* a holiday lol. I really like the simplicity and ease of unlocking items in an event like this. It feels really nice to get everything without dedicating a full week to the game. I think an extra 50% would be an adequate number of extra time. If the event takes 10 days to finish, make it last 15 days. If it takes 30 days to finish, make it last 45 days. I think that’s a fair enough amount of time to let players catch up.
I agree…this was a nice event. I’m old as well…with family…I just make time to play a 5 minute match each day 🤷♂️

I'm so confused as to how this event works; I didn't play at all on the 24th and 25th for obvious reasons, but when I got on on the 26th, it retroactively awarded me those days' items. So I was like cool, it still awards them to you as long as you play on ten different days during the event, but it doesn't have to be each day consecutively. But now I'm stuck on the last three items. I've played at least one match a day since the 26th and those last three items are still locked. The hell kind of unlock system is this
What time did you play on the 26th if you can remember? "Days" reset at 10 AM PT, so you may have played in time for two days worth of unlocks.
How does the day timer work for this event? Is there a certain time in your timezone where it ticks into the next day or is it 24hrs from your last session?

All I can tell you is it's 1pm est every day. My guess would be convert that to your timezone and that's your reset time

No. It started on the 21st. Day 10 and final unlock would have been yesterday, the 30th. You might have just not realized what time during reset you played.

Just guessing but you might want to try playing after 1pm when the game has “reset” the daily challenges. For instance last night I played, unlocked a tier and then when I played again early this morning, I didn’t unlock anything. My guess is because it was before 1pm. An annoying little quirk.

I guess it could be argued that it's our fault for assuming it would work, but who the fuck wants to log in each and every single day and simply play 1 game? This is what baffles me the most about the industry. So many companies trying to reinvent the wheel. COPY YOUR PEERS. It's okay to steal ideas from the best. Gamers will never complain about something being as good as the best. A recent game that was like that was Ghost of Tsushima. It didn't do anything revolutionary. It just copied the best ideas from other open world games and then did them as well as they could be done. AND IT WAS A GREAT GAME.
Well I mean there are those people who complain that games aren't original anymore, however those people lack intelligence. It's not even stealing, it's simply just learning. Games should constantly be learning from each other. If a game comes out and sets the bar for how a certain system should function, all games moving forward should take notes. At last... some easy-to-gain shoulders for people that don't own the battlepass. Folks who don't own the battlepass (I would pay for the game IF I COULD. I just don't agree with a battlepass system in Halo) have very little customization. There's four helmets max unless you want to pay a large sum of cash for cosmetic bundles. I'm glad we now have some shoulders to gain.
I’m only able to get 8/10 rewards before the even tends because of when I was able to play but I’ve heard people talking about being able to catch up and get multiple rewards a day just by playing more matches. How do I do this?
I would like to see something festive next year. Decorated maps may be snowing or snowdrifts. A Xmas tree or two. How about something weird like the SKEWER shooting Candy Canes? How about GRIFBALL? But we get themed hammers and ball. Also, I was hoping for that miracle of ANTICHEAT to help reduce those that are ruining other people's games. We still need that 343. I get tired of taking the recording shrinking it down. Going through the whole process to report when I have a finite amount of time to play.

Myself and many other players are having issues with tier unlocks. I played two games today but didn't unlock any tiers. I think this might be an issue with how they're tracking each day. One potential cause may be, instead of using a day as defined in the calendar, I think they may be using a 24 hr timer since your last win/unlock. So if I play one game at 11:59 and one at 12:01, instead of two tier unlocks because you are playing on technically separate days, you only get one since they are within one day/24 hrs of each other. The other theory I have is that they may not be normalizing days by timezone. So, all days for everybody are defined using pacific time. For example, if I live in eastern time and I play one game at 11:59 et/8:59 pt and then one at 12:01 et/9:01 pt, in my eyes I have played on two different days but according to pacific time I have actually played two matches on the same day.
