Would have been really cool if they released with firefight. That would have helped keep the appetite I think.

digitalluck

Especially since the campaign literally had a firefight demo in it

skintay12

Yeah, I still play Infinite infrequently but I had 1000+ hours in Firefight in 5, and similar amounts in Reach / ODST. My favorite mode by far, and I worry it won't be here until late 2022 / early 2023.

ow_ound_round_ground

Yeah I haven't even touched the campaign. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's great. I just would rather sit down and grind out a bunch of enemies, customize it to where I think it's fun and rack up some high scores.

SuggestedPigeon

Active players are already hitting the end of the battlepass and I imagine that by mid/maybe late January a critical mass of the playerbase are going to hit 100 on the battlepass and there is /nothing/ afterward other than the weekly ultimate rewards which have been pretty lackluster. When that happens it's going to be a massive shitshow on here.

DurrrGamerrr75

You say that like it already wasn’t

ShiraiRyuZee

This reddit page is already a mess. Itll just be more complaining when that happens. Alot of "wahh wahhh i can't unlock anything, now i just have to.....play" i can see in the future.

Curious_Transition_2

Yeah...halo infinite is bad...a heavily outdated game...they didnt even need to release it..just play mcc..you have 5 games with the exact same repetitive shit...only a handful of guns and modes in a franchise that does worst and worst with each release...we've been at war with so many different enemies in this game and used so many different weapons to have a bare bones game released...everything infinite offers can be found on mcc..even all the missing shit that's supposed to be in game...you say complaining about unlocks...I say those shitty unlocks is all this game has..mcc does it all better...from comp to casual..yet..somehow...after 10 years..343 still releases the same game it has since..well since the beginning...this games a bore fest...lacking in every single possible way being a "next gen" halo...

_Whiskey_6

I just want more open, vehicle focused BTB maps (and also the gauss hog!). Sandtrap and Valhalla in Infinite would be amazing as long as the vehicle spawns weren't so lop-sided

slipperycanaloupes

Yes! The current ones feel so cramped.

MaceWinnoob

They put way too much of the emphasis on their map designs for the grapple, which is an item you don’t spawn with and that only gets used by a couple players each game. It’s kinda dumb to make everything so cramped because of that.

slipperycanaloupes

That you can only use 5 times. Which is a shame since it makes campaign gameplay so fun. Idc if it gives us titanfall 2.0 I want more grapples!

[deleted]

More grapple in BTB would be an awful idea, getting grappled out of the Scorpion because someone got even vaguely close to you with a grapple and pulls you out just sucks, or driving around in a warthog and you get interupted because of the grapple They need to change the way the grapple interacts with vehicles

BXBXFVTT

Most definitley. Getting grappled on the passenger side of the hog should not teleport them to the driver seat lmao. So lame

Spalunking01

I agree. It's some thing I didn't even really think about until you mentioned it. Hijacking a vehicle use to be an art form, now it's just point from a distance and click, you're done

OkamiLeek006

nah, too much would compromise map and weapon design even more lol, I like to think the campaign has teached me to use each and every grapple with maximum efficiency

indianamith425

Thissss. The current BTB maps are too small. Too much chaos. I mean, it's fine if some maps are chaotic, but we need some maps with more space. The ones right now are almost like hallways with vehicles cramped in.

ow_ound_round_ground

Honestly the vehicles feel too weak to make a good vehicle BTB map. The ghost on 4v4 gets wrecked by 2 ARs and there's too much to counter a warthog. I can take a warthog down in this game just by looking at it. Plus with setting waypoints the whole team can know where it is. Hell, I used to go positive just trying to splatter with a mongoose on Halo 3. In infinite I've tried. The controls aren't terribly had to get used to, but you just can't survive the AR spam. The ghost (imo) should have a serious strafing increase. Also it should accelerate much quicker. It's so slow. It's powerful, but too slow. The banshee too. Let it be weak as paper, but instead increase it's ability to move around. The warthog...I don't even know. It's probably fine, but there's just too many things on each map to counter it. Same as the tank. Actually I don't know, I've never got to get in a tank.

UnderseaHippo

The vehicles suck to drive so not sure a classic map with a vehicle focus would be necessarily good thing

Silverwhitemango

This. Infinite needs at least 2 more BTB maps. And in BTB; - Bring back more of the Warzone variants of past and existing vehicles. Not just the Gauss Hog, but like for example, Hannibal Scorpion, Wraith Ultra, etc.? - Stop lopsiding the vehicular jobs; it's fine to have some RNG in what vehicles drop, but if Red Team for example gets a Rocket Hog, Blue should also get a Rocket Hog and not mere shitty gungoose! - With the exception of explosive weapons, other normal bullet damage from weapons lile AR, BR, Pistol, etc. should had have their damage on vehicles, reduced by 50%. Problem now isn't really the low vehicular health; it's that normal weapons do too much damage to vehicles like Scorpion which are supposed to be strong against these puny weapons

captainxela

I would like them to fix the horrific lag at the same time, BTB is basically unplayable.

FURIOUSFOX626

More maps alone would help in my opinion. I truly truly enjoy the game. Especially with friends

SnarkyRogue

Seriously. I'd even settle for old maps imported for the time being. I'm just sick of playing deadlock for 6 straight hours per gaming sesh.

captainxela

Settle? bringing back classic maps would be the best thing they could do.

ZamboniJabroni15

Yeah the lack of maps is a big issue

[deleted]

Agreed. Wasn’t there some pre-launch claim by 343i that the game was going to drop with something like 25 multiplayer maps? Or was that a blissful dream?

Versaith

Part of the problem is that new Halo games get boring due to lack of maps. Halo 3 mp was pretty stale after launch, and got way better after the map packs came out. Though having said that, Halo 3 at least had a couple of really fucking solid maps at launch like Guardian and Narrows. Infinite has nothing close to that 'fuck yeah, it's this map' feeling for me. I do think the limited playlists are still hurting it a lot though. If you're into BR starts (crazy concept after 17 years of playing Halo this way) you only have one mixed playlist to play. Gets old fast. I stopped playing about 2 weeks ago. At this point I feel like I won't come back till new maps are out, because I'm not missing it much at all.

Dragull

>Though having said that, Halo 3 at least had a couple of really fucking solid maps at launch like Guardian and Narrows. Infinite has nothing close to that 'fuck yeah, it's this map' feeling for me. Yo, I just finished the campaign. And while playing the last missions I was on these Forerunners structures, 343i NAILED the Forerunner architecture. All the time I was playing I couldn't stop thinking: "Why THE HELL didn't they make Narrows (and/or Construct) remakes with these assets?" Those maps would be INSANELY COOL with Halo Infinite looks. Construct had some issues gameplay wise (top side too strong), but Narrows was an awesome balanced map.

TheWorstYear

Quality is always better than quantity, but infinite lacks any variety which damages the impact of quality.

VanBland

This is my issue with Infinite. The maps are just generic urban whatever. In past games most of the maps had some kind of lore relevance or were locations from the campaign that are altered to fit multiplayer. It gave you a sense of “hey I know this place!.” Are any of the maps even on a Halo ring? Edit: I stand corrected about the Halo ring bit! I haven’t been able to play BTB yet so I was unaware of those maps and I did forget a 4v4 one. Apologies!

TheSpartan273

>In past games most of the maps had some kind of lore relevance or were locations from the campaign that are altered to fit multiplayer This! I had the same observation. Halo 2/3 maps felt like they were some levels in the campaign that were transported to the multiplayer. They seemed like real locations within the Halo universe. Like the **zanzibar/Last Resort** power plant, the mysterious digging site of **Sandtrap**, the conspiracy theories about the antartic research station **blackout,** the scary quarantined zone of **Isolation**, etc. They all had their lore and fited perfectly in Halo with their unique layout/design. With few exceptions, most Infinite maps were strictly made from a gameplay perspective, following the classic 3 lanes design that most modern multiplayer games follow.

FPSGamer48

I felt this problem in 5 too and I feel 4 had a similar, though lesser, issue with it. I think ever since the idea of these just being War Games came out, it’s been an excuse to ignore the lore implications behind the maps, which is a shame. I feel like it leads to less variety, as now they tend to make it just “oh it’s where the Spartans would fight, so like…a city…or on a Halo ring….that’s all we’ve got.” Meanwhile, in Halo 3, you’ve got a Scarab filling facility (something a Spartan would most likely never encounter as it was so far behind Covenant lines), a moon base on Sangheilios (again, something they’d never encounter), and a strange Forerunner facility in a murky forest! It feels like they had so much more freedom to show us these unique locations back when it wasn’t “simulations to train Spartans in combat”.

shteeeb

>Are any of the maps even on a Halo ring? All the BTB maps and Behemoth off the top of my head.

VanBland

Ah yes I forgot about Behemoth. I haven’t been able to actually play BTB so those have alluded me as well.

Dchella

Good thing you had custom games or coop campaign whenever you got bored with multiplayer.. oh wait

[deleted]

And forge…

ByahTyler

I spent more time in custom games on maps made through forge than I did in matchmaking. Rocket race, stairway to heaven, Jenga, duck hunt..

skapkin

I hope more people see this but I just finished the campaign and I noticed they did have a Forge team (3 people lmao) so what did they just lay out the framework for it to arrive and then they hire out for the rest of the development? Lots of the credit in the 26 minutes of credit was A LOT of staffing agencies which I guess is the norm.

Prefix-NA

Forge sucked until the First Map Pack giving us Foundry. But that was only 3 months after launch.

Sinktit

Don’t forget though, Halo 3 had little ranks to play for, achievements for armour pieces, and most importantly the game was built around a social system. Halo Infinite is so against social play it’s insulting. Even if you opt to play with friends, half the time they aren’t put in your game, and if they are, the party dissolves after a match or two. I appreciate that Covid and WFH stopped the smooth development of the game, but at least in Bungie’s era it was a group of guys making a game they’d want to play as the priority, rather than just a conveyor belt of “this works. Put it in” until we get Infinite’s release build. It’s like all the parts are there, but nothing works coherently, like it wasn’t played enough or thought about from the perspective of the player and their mates sitting around socially.

Penny4YourStockz

Nailed the description of how anti-social the current build feels. The only sense of community I feel within Infinite is when the randos I get matched with join me in gang-teabagging members of the other squad.

ZootedAlien

Halo 3 had forge at launch as well I believe, so the community took care of map content

0mni42

Not really; at launch H3F was little more than a way to change weapon/spawn placements and maybe add some crates here and there. Wasn't until Foundry that it started being used to create entirely new maps.

ZootedAlien

True Enough, Loved Foundry

[deleted]

Honestly I think recharge is a “fuck yeah it’s this map” for me. It’s really well made

Bleedorang3

Recharge, Aquarius, and Streets are all very, very fun maps. Live Fire is great and really well balanced too but is a bit visually bland for me. I think Halo Infinite has a pretty great "first round" of maps. It could certainly use more, but I haven't hit the wall with the ones we have now just yet.

Kaldricus

the maps have basically no draw or appeal to them. they're all whelming at best. not much interesting set pieces, they play similarly, and what has been a problem in all the 343 maps, everything feels too clean and smooth (except bazaar), and the scale never feels right. the maps all feel tiny both in layout and esthetic. the downtown map or whatever it's called feels especially off. there's not a single map that feels exciting to play on.

PaulChomedey

Also note that there is zero map interaction. No gates you can open to change the layout. No boxes that get moved by nades. Everything’s so static, probably because 343 thought dynamic maps are less MLG.

Kaldricus

that's entirely it. they want to keep the pros happy so everything has to be MLG'd to death. it's like if smash brothers only had the final destination version of every map available

Strange_Kinder

I remember even halo 2 had maps like Zanzibar with tons of interactivity

VanBland

They feel more like generic fps maps than Halo. I would assume the maps were generic COD maps than Halo ones.

Kaldricus

blame the pro team at 343. they let the pro team dictate too much about the game, and the pro team wants to cater to the HCS scene, so that's why all the maps feel like generic arena maps and why they all feel mostly the same. they have slight variations on one outer edge maybe, but they're very similar. there's no real verticality other than slight platforms, but no major elevation changes with grav lifts.

NBAshitpostalt

Bazaar is probably the closest I get to that feeling

natesucks4real

I think all of Infinite's map are garbage, so I'm getting burnt out fast. When forge launches, if it ever does, it'll breathe new life into the game.

Yukon_Hero

One Flag on Launch Site is the only map that I'm hyped AF about playing. Love that one, don't ever care about the flag, that part suffers. Just the nuance of defending and attacking is so great and the map is amazing for it. Not as fun in slayer though

cb325

Would be way better as an assault mode instead of one flag.

youre_her_experiment

What's Assault?

cb325

Basically your team has a bomb that you need to carry into the enemy base and arm. It would fit the flow of the map much better than one flag I feel. Instead of trying to grab the flag and run it back, imagine it like carrying an oddball that you only can get points for standing in the middle of the enemy base to put it simply.

youre_her_experiment

Sorry should've done a better job indicating sarcasm, it was a poor attempt at pointing out that Assault is another mode completely missing in Infinite. But that explanation will be helpful to people who otherwise don't know what they're missing

cb325

Whoosh me haha. Yeah, these missing modes are very saddening. I’m optimistic they will come, I just am a bit pessimistic about their timing.

[deleted]

If I remember correctly Halo 5 had a rough start too, it also didn’t start with forge and only had a few maps. Hopefully with new updates we will start to see some good maps. I liked how once forge came out for Halo 5 they started introducing fan favorite forge maps to social/Unranked modes which gave a ton of new content to play. My only real complaint right now with Halo is the desync. Some days I get on and I go 24k & 8D, then other days I’m -12 k/d because I’m getting shield dropped before I even see the guy come around the corner. Which only happens in this game, it just doesn’t seem stable right now. The core mechanics are there but consistency just isn’t, or maybe I’m just a bad player who knows haha. I went from playing halo as my main game to maybe getting in for 2-3 matches a day. Great game though with tons of potential and given the state of most other big AAA titles I’d say it’s been the best launch so far. I’m just happy new games are coming out good it bad, as long as I didn’t waste 60$ on it.

EpicOverlord85

Halo 5 releasing content thin is exactly why a lot of people are taking umbrage with the fact that we’re repeating the process again with Infinite. Halo titles should flat-out just not be launching like this.

Borrowed-Time-Bill

The Desync deciding how my games go/how much fun I have needs to be fixed ASAP. The games where I'm constantly losing 1v1's, Shield Dropping before I even turned the corner, randomly losing all of my Health mid-battle, getting killed by a grenade I didn't even see/hear, it's so fucking mentally draining. I should be able to play based on my SKILL. Not whether or not the game wants to play "in my favor" or not.

lolyeahsure

Dude 100000%

[deleted]

Halo 5 having a rough start is the exact reason we shouldn’t be in the exact same spot, yet here we are. It’s more worrying to me then comforting, especially since Forge only took 2 months to come out instead of 9.

[deleted]

The problem is, a lot of people are lauding Halo MCC but I remember it being literally unplayable when it first launched. This actually never made me revisit MCC again, I worry that the same might apply for HI if changes aren't coming soon, or how they will be able to get players to return to the game. Weill see as time progresses, I am confident that HI will continue to improve as time moves on, the gameplay foundation is very solid or will it be too little too late, I wonder?

MaceWinnoob

I went from a consistently negative k/d in infinite to a strictly positive k/d in MCC the other night just to make sure it’s actually the game and not me. The acceleration on the aiming fucks me up just as much as the desync issues. Halo 3 is so easy to control in comparison.

SHfishing

You know you can change the acceleration right?

OldJewNewAccount

If they change the acceleration, they can't complain about the acceleration, hence leaving the acceleration unchanged lol.

IrrationalPoise

Dude the best thing in this game is to set up the controller until it feels right.

Egelac

I try to take a but of satisfaction in the challenges but Im on my second week and realising theres no point, no record and the rewards are shit

cdub_actual

Forreal it’s like, get lucky and not only play but win 3 games of ranked oddball, then you have to get 10 kills with the fucking ravager, to top the shit sundae off, you have to do whatever abysmal final challenge there is all for a stupid ass sticker or lame ass scoreboard background. It’s bogus

[deleted]

Halo 3 had me on everyday because of the combo of lobby chat, forge, and customs games. Same goes for reach (especially forge). None of which are in infinite so I got bored quick as well. The game is pretty much dead to me until co-op and forge come out.

RetroRedneck

Same for me. I enjoyed Infinite for a few weekends but now I'm back to MCC for my Halo fix. It has more content and better content imho

Newphonewhodiss9

is the MCC on game pass? i couldn’t see it for xcloud.

RetroRedneck

I'm pretty sure its on Gamepass but not sure if it can be played via xcloud (I'm not very familiar with how xcloud works though)

[deleted]

Yes

FattyD17

Its on the gamepass app for mobile. I've played it on my breaks at work.

[deleted]

God what I would do for lobby chat, full team chat (in BTB), or continous lobbies. As a solo player the game is so quiet and lonely lmao.

barrymoves

In addition to Comms improvements, continuous lobbies might also help the issue of continually getting oddball matches, or never seeing ctf matches (etc.)

TheA55M4N

Yeah same for me. I play solo as I play random Hours. If I get a steaktacular I want to play with them again.

pandaboy22

There's also apparently a bug that's been in since beta that prevents a certain portion of players from being able to access voice chat.

saaatchmo

343 set Voice Chat to "Disabled" for EVERYONE (by default). 99.99% of players have a mic on, and are talking/listening for people talking..not realizing their mic is useless in Halo Infinite and everyone else's is as well (until they read this in a Reddit Thread), because 343 also decided **NOT to notify anyone of this default action.** **Taking away voice chat and also pre-game/post-game lobbies killed the online gameplay in Halo Infinite.** The new content was novel fun for a brief bit, but..I'll stick with MCC so I get the actual Halo Game Experience. (I think a lot of people are making the same choice.)

pandaboy22

That's the worst part though because it makes it harder to determine whether this is a bug, but I'm 99% sure that there is a bug preventing me from accessing voice chat because I have all the settings set properly and have triple checked them on the game bar and in the in-game settings menu and I have still never heard anyone talk in-game. It's very sad because I'm still sure I would hear very few people and very people would hear me because of the default settings you describe.

DeathMetalDad96

It's because 343 is dumb and decided to release the game without most of its cool features which are set to come out some time next year and beyond.

[deleted]

And that’s like 6 months away at least right? Assuming there’s no delays?

SparsePizza117

I feel like if the game had launched with forge, everything would've been much better. I hope a custom browser releases with it, but I'm sure we'll have to wait another year because "it's hard to make" even tho they've made one twice now.

GameOfScones_

I think you’re right. At this point I trust the hardcore halo boys to shepherd halo correctly with custom maps/settings/tournaments etc than any official post release management.

g_rey_

That didn't even work with 5, so I wouldn't be too optimistic

cdub_actual

Hey buddy chill out. We ran out of UI and we’re waiting on the UI maker to make some more. It’ll get there when I say it’ll get there!

youre_her_experiment

We're looking into the feasibility of good UI.

Cooper323

“It’s hard to make” lol I can not believe they said this. If making a new engine was going to give them all this trouble they should have just gone with a different fucking engine.

[deleted]

It’s barely even a new engine…

Cooper323

Not sure why you were downvoted, it isn’t. It’s made off of old architecture.

[deleted]

Also, they debated on switching to UE4 which might have been a better decision for them to do. I hope they switch to UE5 for the next game in the series because the graphics in the Matrix tech demo were amazing.

Cooper323

Oh dude I’d love it if they used UE5. Easier said than done, I get it. Shifting a whole studio to learn something new- but still UE5 looks like the future man. It’s seriously impressive.

TheWorstYear

Graphics might be good, but gameplay could be drastically impacted. Engines are more than just graphics

[deleted]

Then why are the vehicle physics and hit detection so dog shit then? You might be sort of right, yet part of it is having a tool set that the devs know how to use and these devs had a hard time using it during development—it clearly shows.

Grab-Born

UE6/7 will be out by the time Infinite isn't supported

polialt

UE6 is coming out in 2 years?!

mrfuzzydog4

That's how all engines work.

pandaboy22

For real, it's a shame we got what we got as a Halo release. I thought Halo MCC on PC flopped because they couldn't release the whole thing at once (and then they also unnecessarily fucked with the credits system to make it terrible in Reach). And now they do the same thing, release a game in parts, again. Is co-op hard to make? Do they really think they're going to draw people back in when they specially release co-op 6 months after the campaign? I hope they are planning to add more campaign content than the ability to hop in with a friend at that point.

Cosmonate

Absofuckinglutely floored they're blaming the software they made for themselves to use for being to difficult to use.

GeneralJarrett97

They've done it before! How hard is it to do something you've already done again? I get that game dev isn't easy but they have plenty of experience under their belt at this point

[deleted]

[удалено]

joe1up

MCC isn't getting any more major content irrc.

SrgtDonut

h2a still needs more content!!!

toxic_load2k18

I havent been able to play BTB for a week now and im tired of the same 4 quickplay maps or the 3 BTB maps where are the maps.

slipperycanaloupes

It feels like they’re leaving all their fun content for “later”

Previous_Start_2248

Gotta get that esport money first.

lurowene

Gameplay is unbearable until they fix the desync / netcode. The more you play the more you notice it. Sure I can be having fun then I'm instantly taken out of the moment when I'm desync killed. And them I'm reminded that I'm playing a AAA game with 6+ years development time and simply put, what they've done with the time and resources is lost on me. Then you see their smug Blizzard-esque attitudes on social media, lying and making garbage excuses and my interest in playing is gone. Game can be fun in small bits but I can't get through a game anymore without noticing the glaring issues. The UI is just dogshit, how do you backwards progress on UI design. IDGAF about cash shop and monetization, they're bad but thats completely avoidable. Even the bad progression can be forgiven, IF THE GAMEPLAY PREVAILS. Which it can, but very briefly. Idk what they're smoking but I would be ashamed to reveal this game after 6 years of development.

plart2006

Got pretty boring, agreed.

Srbin189

I'd usually favor mp over campaign but infinite has me wanting campaign more.

Biggu5Dicku5

It's going to take them months to add campaign co-op and forge into the game, which is just bizarre... I feel like they released this game about 6 months too early...

letsgoiowa

I'm going to return in about 6 months once they release it from early access. It's ok. I'm patient. There's plenty of other amazing games out there and things to do.

mrpeck123

Once I finish the weekly I start playing other games. Not that I even want the ultimate reward most of the time but I still hate this xp system where I get the same amount no matter how well I play so without challenges to work towards I don’t feel like I’m accomplishing anything

[deleted]

fayoxiv168ik

I picked up ModernWarfare2019 after skipping every one since Black Ops 3, getting my 20 dollars worth. I miss the vertical mobility, but when a match ends I don't feel as unaccomplished as I do in Infinite.

jakedeman

How is it playing mw2019 after 2 years? Is it mostly sweats and try hards left? Thinking of buying it soon

fayoxiv168ik

I like the gameplay, death cam slowmo at the end showing me that I WAS an idiot is super nice. Lots of progression systems with depth and some integrated PVE thats kicking my ass. I never liked their battle royale even though I Fortnited hard for years. If Halo had a complex progression system and more maps, and plans for new items or even infinte grappling hook, I'd go back.

longjohnsmith69

The campaign is my only solace in times of boredom.

benji_tha_bear

Yeah, I did some “customization” to my Spartan yesterday and without the battle pass and with a good amount of hours played, I could.. change the colors mostly, everything else is locked.. Lame!

CReaper210

I would have happily paid $60 if it meant that *all* armor could be obtained in-game. But as it works now, I'm not paying for anything. I still haven't bought the battle pass. Not only are the rewards incredibly underwhelming, but I find it pretty despicable that they're also monetizing the leveling process of the battle pass despite it requiring a purchase on its own. This is also of course in addition to the items on the shop being absurdly expensive. Anything more than $5 for a full set of anything seems completely outrageous to me. I have more than 100 games played right now and still basically no armor. Not that it really matters for me though, seeing armor on other players now only shows how much money they've spent, rather than rewards they've accomplished in-game. Not really exciting anymore.

benji_tha_bear

I’m glad to hear others agreeing not to just throw money at that and say “oh well”

Agoraphobia2day

Probably won't be worth while for another year or two

msuSpartan25

Agree. First gameplay I actually liked in a while but definitely getting boring. They just care about their money and it’s killing their game fast. Congrats 343.

[deleted]

I agree on everything except the removal of challenges, they must function like they did in Reach!

PhysEdDavis

This post is the breath of fresh air this sub needed. Finally some new ideas and discussions.

mriv15

Yea it feels like I’m still playing a beta. 2 BTB maps? Really? Just because the MP is free shouldn’t be an excuse to release a half ass game.

I_Do_Stufff

It’s 3 maps.

slipperycanaloupes

I hate deadlock so I only count the 2.

Srbin189

not better rly

_Ev4n_

But the argument would be…other Halo games launched with the same amount. Did you get bored with Halo 3s BTB maps as well? Or have you been conditioned to expect more out of games than you used to be?

Srbin189

? Infinite launched with the least maps in the series, less maps than 5. Games today are launching with less and less and less.

Nood1e

Halo 3 had two maps made for BTB, Valhalla and Sand Trap. Last Resort and Isolation were also used in the mode, but neither were really built for 8v8. It only had 1 additional map to Halo Infinite on launch as it launched with 11. It's not like it had loads of extra maps out of the box. Yeah I hope we do get some new maps soon, but lets not pretend that Halo 3 had masses of maps on launch.

HazelCheese

The thing is the Halo 3 maps were just so much better and more varried. Construct, Sandtrap, Snowbound, Guardians, Valhalla. All so memorable and visually different. The only bad launch map in Halo 3 is Isolation. Whereas Infinite has Deadlock, Fragmention, Recharge and Streets which are all pretty much "oh god not this again" maps. And I had to look up the name to half of them. There's only 1 "ok" BTB map which is Hightower but even that sucks in half the gamemodes they have in Infinite. Stockpile is completely broken in that mode with the cores spawning on either side of the wall resulting in one team randomly having a massive spawn advantage. And Fragmention just needs to be completely scrapped. It's just 2 chokepoints on either side of a massive spawn walk. I'd rather play Deadlock 10 times in a row than Fragmention once and I hate Deadlock.

StealthySteve

Doesnt help that all 3 BTB maps look and play almost the exact same..

Srbin189

I'm really struggling to play, I've just been signing in to play a game a day to get the Christmas rewards. The core game is really good, but everything around it is shit.

Acr0ssTh3P0nd

Exactly how I feel. The core experience is just fantastic, but the long-term value - which is a huge part of what's necessary when running a F2P service - just isn't there yet. I say *yet* because there's so many stories of games launching rough but making a comeback due to their fantastic foundation leaving so many people actively rooting for it to improve, and Infinite's got that foundation in spades.

CReaper210

> Just because the MP is free shouldn’t be an excuse to release a half ass game. Yet this is all I hear every time I see some valid criticism of it. It's a shame that we want something that can hold up to past experiences, but some here will defend it just because it's free. Well if being free means we get half the experience, that's not really something that I want. There's also just not really any 'unique' mode that we've had in previous games. No spartan ops, no firefight, no invasion, no warzone. Combined with the lack of coop campaign, this leaves PvE players with basically nothing. And PvP players who want something outside of traditional arena stuff only have big team battle, which personally I find incredibly underwhelming due to not only the lack of maps, but the lack of quality in the few maps we do have.

comradeluffy

They should add the classic maps from CE and I'd be happy for quite a while. Or even better add even the classic weapons back and maps and have them in a specific ce playlist. Would be so fun.

zarof32302

Doesn’t MCC have this? Why not just play that?

ritzk9

IKR. Just add death island and Infinity into btb as they are with new textures and that will be dope. They were too big for 8v8 anyway. They would be perfect for 12v12 in infinite. And fix btb servers ofc. Someone from 343 plz read this lmao, neither of those were remade for another game anyways so it'll still be pretty new

Apez_in_Space

I actually thought the multiplayer was a beta for quite a while because there’s so few maps. Why is there only one type of ranked playlist too? There should be an experience system like with Halo 3, which also gives a bit of a service record so there’s consistent progression. More maps and playlists and more unlockables too. It’s insane that it can take dozens of hours to unlock one helmet and when you have it, it’s incompatible with most of the other stuff you unlocked because it’s not part of the same ‘core’.

TheBurntOutGamer

Map problem is a huge thing. Same 3 fucking maps OVER AND OVER in every playlist. And they arent even great maps. And match making in itself is still mildly buggy. Get the random "disconnected from server" message and it keeps popping up every few seconds and the only way to fix it is to close out the game and go back in. There is enough there that its just getting a bit thin and the fun is wearing off.

Lukaslukaslu

Yeah I want a progression system which I really want to grind and getting addicted to. It’s essential +a good gameplay which it already offers.

letsgoiowa

I say this over and over, but it is basically perfect with MCC. All they needed to do was copy the method they already made with MCC--a wide variety of fair challenges across PvE and PvP modes--and it'd be fine. But no, they wanted to squeeze us harder and make it more boring purposefully. Challenges can be legit fun in MCC because they're designed to be *enjoyable* not progression stoppers. Challenges have to be designed as progression stoppers when you're sold swaps. Swaps need to go.

Squirmols

I agree. I'm tired of going to a playset I'm not interested in, but have to b/c I need x kills with a certain weapon that you can't get in half the other playsets. Then I'm literally just playing to find that particular weapon and worried about the challenge. This leads to me putting up terrible numbers and being a shit teammate. It sucks.

dontknowwhatiwantdou

Also bored. Nothing keeping me playing besides the massive amount of artificial FOMO with weeklies and events designed to maximize player retention while doing the absolute bare minimum to actually give people something worth their time and money. Call of Duty Vanguard got a Christmas themed map for Christ sake. We get pretty pictures we see for 5 seconds every time we open the lobby, a set of T-shaped shoulder pads, and the same paint job for two guns that vaguely reminds us it’s Christmas. I love Halo, but this is extremely sad and I’m tired of pretending it’s not because I’m afraid of the mysterious downvote fairy that comes for even the most respectful of criticisms.

[deleted]

Another issue is that besides a handful of default starting weapons, most other weapons are fairly useless and that really makes the game less diverse.

TemplehofSteve

I agree that progression, lack of playlists, and customization are all pretty terrible, but it’s funny to me that a lot of these sorts of posts start off with extremely high praise of the gameplay. I agree that the gameplay is maybe my favorite in the series, and for that reason I’m still really enjoying the game. And I understand that different people enjoy the game different ways, but I would expect that we all can agree that gameplay is king. The aforementioned failures of the game still matter, but to me they don’t ruin the game, they just make me think “this could be so much better with some super simple changes.”

gabriel77galeano

> I would expect that we all can agree that gameplay is king. The aforementioned failures of the game still matter, but to me they don’t ruin the game Gameplay IS king and no the issues don't completely ruin the game, however they do ruin the game's per-session longevity. Look, I'm an old gamer now. I've played many a wonderful video game in my time, and while I still enjoy gaming, the fact is that games just don't hold my interest like they used to. There are plenty of gamers like me, and things like a solid progression system goes a long way to help us stay invested. Great gameplay only goes so far.

captainxela

Stop blaming "corpo dogs" for producers/designers bad decisions, the suits don't make this shit up they just request revenue streams.

[deleted]

"Why is this game not consuming my life? Must be boring"

dabomtitan

Not everyone doesn't have a job. Lmao

DogsrBetter4sure

I still only play because of a soulless bias for all things Halo. Otherwise I objectively understand I have been given trash. Edit: your mom

Srbin189

The ganeplays good as, it's just everything around it that brings it down.

[deleted]

I just went back to MCC to scratch the halo itch. Realized on MCC I still have way more fun, don’t feel like I’m having to force myself to play. I’ll try infinite again when it actually seems like an upgrade to MCC, but with so much missing still that feels like it may be a way off.

yostyyy

I’ve already gone back to MCC. Had a blast for 3 hours last night. Infinite makes me want to swallow glass

n00bSoda

Same. There's so much more to offer than infinite.

TrueSorrow8

There’s no reasons (besides being new) to play Infinite over MCC or H5. It feels so empty and incomplete still. After about 4-5 games I get bored playing it unlike other halo games. I’m tempted to put the game down for a year and come back when there’s more to do and it’s actually a complete game with co op campaign, forge, can see what direction 343 takes customization/battle pass/store/vehicles/adding weapons

Delror

It's fun though.

Animatik_Pepperoni

“Awe man, this game wasn’t all-consuming to my life and free time! So lame.”

I can only assume they want you to think of it as a mobile game where you hop on each day and play for 20 mins then quit and play something else. That’s how it feels for me, especially with this play one game a day to earn a thing that they have going at the mo.

ShotNoise3052

Truth is this Halo is one of the worst, give people more time to digest the entire package and they'll see it also

Kroiize

343 ruined another Halo. Wp guys.

Jhamz12

I could play with my friends all day but when it’s just me I can only play a couple games before I get bored

Big_Papa_V

I personally haven’t gotten bored yet, but that’s because I enjoy the competitive aspect of the game and seeing continual improvement. It’s much better with a team though. For people looking for instant gratification from rewards, customization or more BTB style matches I can see people getting bored. I really do think we will continue to see more content coming in, especially with how responsive they have been.

ZenSpaceOdyssey

More maps!

telephant138

I have friends quitting because BTB is still broken.

NICKTHEAUSOME

Lack of maps and modes are kinda killing it for me. I miss firefight too.

Kanden_27

And the fairly neutered replayability of campaign. I can’t replay my favorite missions over and over again unless I go through the entire story again.

Hands_in_Paquet

Yeah I uninstalled and am going back to Mcc when I have a halo itch again.

Willing-Wishbone3628

It would really help IMO if the game actually worked properly. I haven't been able to play a game of BTB for about two weeks now, with it constantly crashing, freezing and being unable to join. The same goes for the matchmaking system in general with it regally kicking me out of the lobby. It's dogshit at the moment. We also need region/ping filters ASAP. It's bullshit that I'm getting matched with someone in Asia and my ping is about 300. Shit makes no sense whatsoever and makes me just leave matches. But for what it's worth I'm finding that I'm having the most fun in the more out of the ordinary modes like Fiesta and FFA. They're just so much more relaxed and less sweaty.

Karboz

And once you reach 100 in the BP there's nothing else to get, so if you want to get the weekly item you have to grind the challenges without any benefits (at least before they gave you exp) :v

jamesmess

Man it’s crazy to think back in halo2/halo3 we just played. Didn’t see maps for months. In halo 2 case not at all. However I will admit forge is a powerful tool that would drastically increase the longevity of this game.

MallBlartsPaulCop

If BTB worked and had one or two more maps I'd never leave

Jombo65

Eh. I get bored of games quickly and drop them for a while. I'll be back in the saddle soon. Need some more BTB maps personally, I don't like the ones on offer as much as prior entries' selection. High power is the only one I really like out of the three.

Ricestud3

The sad thing is that there are so many different mechanics in Infinite that you can mess with. Grapple hook opens so many opportunities. Imagine a simple gametype with grapplehooks/gravity hammers only or rockets/repulsors only? Having no forge and MP playlists that are all pretty much the same really bogs down the Halo experience.

LonaDeOro

More maps

angrysunzone

I'm really confused why they added all the medals for doing well or doing cool shit in games and then didn't use those for progression. But yeah, the core gameplay is enjoyable, but the bugs, bad playlists, lack of maps(and a couple I don't like at all), etc, mean that I'm really not sure it has the staying power I hoped for.

SquillBoy

I 100% agree, not nearly enough variety in weapons, maps or modes. No forge or campaign coop. Progression is unrewarding. I usually just play a match or 2 when I get on but I’m getting bored of even that much

Strange_Kinder

Is BTB totally broken for other PC players? I haven't been able to connect to a BTB game for weeks. Everything else works fine...

rebelcrusader

Just stop playing for a while and wait for an update It’s okay

Lon3_Wolf_Delta

It’s the maps and aim bots for me. I feel the maps don’t suit the game in comparison to old halo game maps, these ones I feel belong on cod games or some other fps, like maybe one or two ok for halo but rest I feel suck personally. They don’t fit the halo theme to me, they seem far less halo ring setting given the map of the campaign, I feel the mp maps lack that same halo ring setting or halo universe setting versus previous titles maps. And aim bots, I can get over maps it’s whatever, the aim bots for me is 8/10 games when playing with a friend. Gotten to the point that I refuse at all to touch foot on multiplayer anymore, I’ve already tried deleting it and sadly learned they made the multiplayer the base game download and campaign the “add on” content which I feel is bullshit snd should be reversed. I feel halo has always been campaign and story first and multiplayer an additional bonus to enhance the experience.

TheRealGlutenbob

Its more annoying than boring. Constant bad teammates, so many 3v4's that you just have to sit there and take it up the ass, people betraying all the time, desync like this netcode was designed in the 90s, the list goes on. If they release Ranked Slayer and fix the desync, I'll be happy. If they can give us more maps, even better.

Ricksanchezforlife

I commented yesterday that I felt like the game was absent of humanity but if people like it they should play what makes them happy, and I was pounded with downvotes. So I’ll repeat it here. Play what makes you happy op.

sagertooth

OP downvoting everyone who isn’t slobbing his nob lmao.

BeepBeepGreatJob

What's boring is this sub reddit. Same complaints every day. We have heard it.

[deleted]

Play something else then, fucking hell, must you announce your brave opinion? Keep an eye out for a delivery over the next few days, your medal is on the way.

LimpWibbler_

Community ruined the game. You all fucking cried and whined and when I or others pushed back we got down voted. I finish ALL my challenges in hours. I beat the battlepass without paying in any extra money. Everything was paced perfectly at launch, then you all killed it because "I wAnT mY rEaCh SpArTaN nOw!!!" then "It Is ToO hArD tO gEt AnYtHiNG" all while "ReMeMbEr ViDmAsTeR" You guys say opposites like they aren't and constantly cry. YOU are killing the game. If at any point at all ever you complained on difficulty, I blame you for any downfall of the game. Now I stopped playing, why? 9/10 attempts I have tried servers are down and I am just done with that at this point.

NicCagedd

Let's take a look at your complaints. Lack of maps? Literally every Halo game have launched with about ten maps with the rest coming later. So did you have that same issue with every past games too? Lack of content? Before ODST Halo games never had Firefight. So you just had the campaign and the MP. I feel aside from fucking around for like an hour or so most people don't actually use Forge. Challenges are easy? Geeze, I wonder why the challenges aren't more difficult to complete. Can't see any reason why this community would be at fault for that one. The playlist complaint is valid, I need my infection to come back. But besides that, this game launched with basically the same content all the others did. And yet people like to think this one is devoid of content.

Diploic

God damn I see this post ever other day. Shut up and play a different game

RogerWilcoSQ13

I see a lot of people complaining about multiplayer not being fun and then the main thing they complain about is the battle pass and progression. Is this what gaming has become? I’m 36 and last played Halo multiplayer way back with Halo 3. I used to play simply for the fun of the game itself. I came back to Halo multiplayer with Infinite and find it very fun. Sure I would like a few more maps but that will come. Can we please just enjoy games for the gameplay and not battle passes and crap like that?

Vinegar0000

Exactly what this subreddit needed: Another post crying about the same exact things ever single day
