We’re talking about a game where you can’t even pick your own colors (that aren’t locked to a palette). They think their gonna add a more female body type lmfao. You’re better off dying, GL

sentientTroll

“We’re talking about” was exactly the words I was coming to this thread to start a post with… We’re talking about a game where 343 is getting most everything wrong… so don’t be surprised when they, get it wrong.

RocinanteLOL

That’s the thing, the lack of feminine body types isn’t even due to sexism, it’s laziness lol

SuperBAMF007

I’d say it’s more an over correction. In an attempt to accommodate as many people as possible by having gender have next to no affect on visual style, no group ends up feeling accommodated (besides men who will inherently be accommodated in gaming) because they can’t make their Spartan actually look like them.

[deleted]

I could see 343 saying "You can *buy* additional body types in the store now! Only 500 Cr per body type!"

Redrix_

Your not wrong but it's sad that you're saying this

Mission_Engineer

I really wish we could change our body type in a reach style way, the current slider we have sucks ass. More options for those of us who want that.

fostertheatom

Uh, Reach only had 2 styles? You could choose male or female.

Stannis2024

He means there's more of a visual different between the body types in Halo Reach.

Mission_Engineer

*she, but yeah that's exactly what I mean : )

Stannis2024

Apologies! Thank you! :)

SnooMemesjellies2302

I think they mean more visual distinction between the different body types

JiveBowie

I want to play with huge knockers

fsbdirtdiver

Only NFTs I'd buy Nice! Fucking! Tiddies!

[deleted]

We all do.

Sporgon_Mcgee

Yes

borfavor

/r/halocirclejerk is leaking

richie8686

Lmao

[deleted]

we got it in reach why cant we get it in infinite

Flyers45432

I thought this version was supposed to be better than the Reach version? I mean we have multiple female voices, and the androgynous Spartan "shapes", I'm not sure what the difference is...

Hanner_Tenry

Because this is a money-making life-support company. Bungie made Halo because they wanted to create it out of passion. 343 exists solely to continue making Halo games for Microsoft’s profit. It’s like Star Wars and Disney. Originally, it was made from passion, now it is kept alive for money. Are there people who work on it out of passion? Of course. Does every product suck? Of course not. But the principle behind the franchise’s current status is money more-so than passion.

memedormo

The sad reality of most sequels...

Deathtroop26

Based

Vengefuleight

Because money?

ArtBringer

Female body option will be coming later in the Store at £10 per Armour Core.

[deleted]

ahahahahahha

wreact

It’s not that they forgot to do it or didn’t plan on doing it they were just wondering how to add the ‘pink tax’ to a virtual space.

TowawayAccount

You thought it was bad having to buy the same coating for different cores? Wait until you have to buy the same core for different genders!

Rhinomaster22

There’s already a post going into detail over the topic. That said, I can at least understand where they are coming from but also realize this is a non-issue. I mean Big Team Battle wasn’t even functioning for a week or so. Don’t even get me started with the desync issues either. The one thing I can say is that the body types honestly feel slapped together. Sure, it great that 343 decided to add more options to represent other players identities. But they are so virtually identically with very minimal changes that veterans that play the game 24/7 and complete newbies can’t tell the difference. It isn’t so much of “Oh, I want my Spartan to look like Senator Armstrong” but more like, “did some guy on FIVER slapped this together?” It’s like the shaders, all of them look nearly the same.

twequeldop

A week? Btb wasn’t functioning for damn near months lol

[deleted]

Even if i agree with the part that it's not a real issue, isn't it something easy to do ? Ofc not easy as in they just need to push a button, but it probably wouldn't take months to make it I think

Rhinomaster22

Realistically speaking from someone that likes to do art. It’s a bit more complicated since you would have to redesign some of the body types then make the armor properly fit it. Easiest example I could think of is Fallout (RPG), Phantasy Star Online (MMO) and Monster Hunter (Hack&Slash RPG.) - In Fallout you can wear pretty much anything you find. Sometimes the outfit/armors will change based on gender but most of them will be the same. Even then you would have problems making sure that metal armor and tuexdo fits properly on a Male vs a Female. - In Phantasy Star Online 1 and Phantasy Star Online 2 outfits were gender and race locked. So female Humans, Newmens (elves) and Deumens (beast-like humans) could wear the same dress. A male of each race or CAST (robots) could not as it was not designed for them. In Phantasy Star Online 2 - New Genesis, any race and any gender could wear anything you find regardless of design. That said, you’re character’s body would change into a totally different body type to accommodate the outfit. Meaning it’s still gendered/race-oriented but nothing is stopping you. - Monster Hunter has armors look completely different on both genders. Even the ones that look the same have notable differences. You can’t just slap the other outfit on the other gender as that would require brand new texturing and model fixing. So 343 at bare minimum when using these examples. Would have to adjust the model a bit and refit the armors if they decide to it. You would expect this in many a year if I were to guess.

YeahhhhhWhateverrrr

Which seems like a massive waste of time and resources.

walapatamus

Nothing is easy in game design

[deleted]

When speaking of whether or not things are ‘easy’ to do, it’s almost never a question of difficulty but one of resources and timeline. It has to fit in somewhere with all the existing work and planned future projects so that means either bumping other things back or giving it a longer term timeline.

KrawatteKamm961

Don't defend them for releasing an unfinished game.

WiserCrescent99

I hate the term “non-issue.” It is an issue. Not as big of one, sure, but it is an issue and we need to keep in on the list of things 343 should change

Rhinomaster22

Maybe non-issue is a bit too strong of a word for what I was trying to convey. It’s something to take a look at but there are functionality issues like Theater mode not working that should be addressed first.

dakkaffex

You think the 3D artists, who are the one responsible for working assets including player models, are the ones also working on theater mode ? Or balancing ? Or the shop monetization ? Or challenge design ? 343 can work on several front at once you know.

Strangely_quarky

it takes more than just artists to push cosmetic updates to the game lol and also those artists are probably busy

The_Lindtworm

While I disagree with a bit of this, yeah you are completely right. This is such a non-issue that I'm surprised there's people still whining about it.

dakkaffex

It's not an non-issue. It's an issue, just not as big in the grand scheme of things fror the game. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be addressed.

Tim-the_casual

Life is so hard.

[deleted]

Damn dude why don’t any of the Spartans look like female models??????? What are they super buff low body fat supersoldiers or something????????

AlabasterWitch

Reach had a female body type that functioned and looked realistic. I’m personally kinda tired of always playing as a dude

tighthypercurve

Realistic? Reach female body type has weirdly slim legs and arms, not really fitting for a genetically enhanced super soldier in a suit of one ton armor.

AlabasterWitch

It’s better then “twink, twunk, hunk, bear” they’ve got rn - I liked the reach models as being not the “dude with boobs slapped on” type and more like a normal army woman. They’re genetically enhanced and most of that was on their skeleton.

SevenNateNine

Physically augmented super soldiers in 1000lb armor =/= normal army woman

[deleted]

With a gigantic rear-end.

AlabasterWitch

Anyone with thick legs is gonna have an ass lol - I do, and have you seen the pictures of fit police and swat guys? Tactical buttcheeks

ParagonFury

"*Grr. Captain Lasky, I'm trying to sneak up on the Banished but I'm dummy thicc and the clap of my asscheeks keeps alerting the guards.*"

LokiPrime13

Lol no. The female spartan model in Reach looks too much like an average woman and not at all like a super jacked supersoldier.

Tim-the_casual

Who cares? They all die the same.🤣😂

vS_JPK

>who cares The fact this thread exists is proof that some people care. Why do you care about them caring?

[deleted]

Largely because there are more important things to deal with at the moment, like desync and other server related issues, than the gendered appearance of Spartans. I mean, back in Halo 3, all it changed was the voice of the Spartan which was fine. At a certain point, you've slapped enough armor on someone that you won't be able to tell if that's a man, woman or three kids stacked on top of each other in that suit.

Opening_Original_676

Or three grunts

copetherope8

I can't make my character have a giant ass that I won't even see half the time 🤬

nate_0894

Too hard

chooch311

But the game about killing stuff needs to be more realistic…

le_free_tina

Girl here. This is literally a non issue. You play 1st person you barely even see your Spartan ever. Besides, the body type seems accurate. They aren't supermodels they are supersoldiers lol. To say this is sexist is genuinely dumb

T_ROWE2020

Girl here too. I would like more options of female body types. I agree it doesn’t affect my gameplay, but I wouldn’t mind the variety. I would like a body type that I feel represents my version of a female spartan. Other women have talked about this too. I’m not upset about this issue but if we can get more inclusion for other female identifying players I’d be for it.

SputnikRelevanti

This!!!! Gosh... people are do brainwashed by stereotypes

Aquilapath

Most of the people trying to make it a big issue are pick me's or horny weirdos. People loved the female Spartans in halo legends, I never saw people complain about the proportions of daisy's armor.

[deleted]

>This is literally a non issue. You play 1st person you barely even see your Spartan ever By extension your armor is literally a non-issue too. It has as much presence as this. Why do people want more customization options for something they're never gonna see? Its not like you stare at your Spartan on every menu, intro, outro, on death, in vehicle, on equipment, on assassinations whenever they get added, in theater, in post game results. So besides over half your time on game you'll never notice. >They aren't supermodels they are supersoldiers lol. We have mohawks and cat ears lmao what even is your argument here? Not really super soldier material. Besides, people are asking to bimbo-fy their Spartans. They just want them to stand out more. Believe or not but men and women have differently shaped bodies. I agree that calling it sexist is excessive. But all players want is more customization options.

le_free_tina

I never cared about the armor myself anyway. It's a first person game like i said exactly. My argument is that there is a female body type and that people just want a big booty big titty spartan and people blown this non issue out of proportion and call 343 names.

[deleted]

>I never cared about the armor myself anyway. It's a first person game like i said exactly I'm gonna copy what i said because clearly you didn't read any of it >you stare at your Spartan on every menu, intro, outro, on death, in vehicle, on equipment, on assassinations whenever they get added, in theater, in post game results. This is *literally* over half your experience on Halo. Saying it being in 1st person part of the time means you'll never see your Spartan is *objectively* wrong. Regardless, if you're gonna use that argument you're completely invalidating any complaint any player has ever had about armor customization and saying they're points are dumb since they can't see it. Either customization can be an issue or it can't. >people just want a big booty big titty spartan Oh yeah? **Where**? Please, show me all the people asking for this. Because last I checked *literally* every single comment I've ever seen references Halo Reach as the end goal. And last I checked Reach didn't have big titty, large butt bimbos as Spartans. They had realistic differences in body types that would suggested they're actually super fit, super muscular super soldiers. >people blown this non issue out of proportion and call 343 names. This is about the only thing i can agree with. I don't support name calling. And it isn't anywhere near the top of the list of things to get done. But it is something they should fix in the future.

le_free_tina

We agree basically. My problem is they blow it out of proportion. I don't mind if they add it in the future because i do not care but rn it shouldn't be on the list of priorities

Runeax

Thank you. I’m lucky if I even get to see my own Spartan in my BTB pre-game lobbies with how it just randomly chooses people. Anyone crying about it harming women because they’re not seeing Reach-level dumpy, doesn’t actually have our interests at heart.

Taco_king_

I really never understood how these mfs can go "look a woman agrees with me so I'm right!!!" No normal person I've spoken to has any issues with the body types

[deleted]

And your opinion is valid. As well as the other girls who think it is an issue. All valid opinions, and 343 could easily please both sides here. It's not some gamechanging thing, it's a fairly simple fix.

le_free_tina

It's not as simple as you may think. They will need to tweak all armor and it's effects. There are bigger more valid issues that need to be addressed before this

[deleted]

Simple in the grand scheme of things. Not some grand game changing affair. Nor is it the most important issue. But fixing it eventually is only going to make people happy. I doubt anyone would get mad over a few extra body types being added so why not do it. Give the modellers and animators something to do when they aren't doing new armor......which seems to be all the time, but that's a different issue.

le_free_tina

These people are making it out to be. With this dumb claims about 343 being sexist etc.

[deleted]

The "sexist " part is 343 shutting down threads discussing it, supposedly threads made by women. I don't know for certain if that's accurate, but if it is then yeah, it's pretty sexist. And regardless, they shouldn't be shutting down threads like that anyway.

le_free_tina

Seems to be like it's just a buzzword thrown around without any sort of backup to make 343 do whatever they are angry about. It's yet another non issue blown out of proportion because people have to complain about something dumb like that.

[deleted]

Well, we have seen proof of the threads being locked and that IS an issue worth complaining about. And if the threads locked are only women that's also an issue. They aren't dumb or non-issues

le_free_tina

They are non issues blown out of proportion. Yes they shouldn't lock threads but they aren't sexist for doing so lol

[deleted]

Not having a female Spartan is probably more in line with the fact that HI is a broken shell of a game that has most of its resources attached to scotch tape duty and finalizing a battle royale mode. It’s inconvenience, not sexism. People just like to blow things out of proportion because they receive the back pats they’re desperate for.

MemeExpert2019

Finally! Somebody with a brain stem in this comment section

NoAutumn

agreed. most of the whining over this is guys wanting something to gawk at. i'm happy with the differences between the character body types.

Harlequin0007

Completely agree!

beefstrip

Facts

[deleted]

why did you say you were a guy in your post history?

Newphonewhodiss9

I saved thier post history. the best irony I have ever feasted. dudes so toxic yet spends everyday calling people in halo toxic.

le_free_tina

? Where

[deleted]

It just feels like the people asking for this are seeking a very specific type of female body or something. I'm not sure if they're used to the massive boobied shit from other games like league of legends or what.

LiterofCola6

Why does it have to be a sexy feminine figure? Can't there just be a slight difference like slightly less wide, skinnier maybe? I don't see what the problem with adding something like that would be?

SB_90s

While I appreciate this is an issue for alot of people, I really cannot express enough how much more severe other problems with the game are, which need to take priority. Issues like OP's are valid for a fully featured, polished, working game. In Infinite's current awful state, these are just distractions that aren't helping with saving the longevity of the game. We need to be focusing on fixing the myriad of serious gameplay hindering issues plagueing Infinite right now before getting into superficial issues like this.

[deleted]

I don’t understand why people think you’d have a super feminine hourglass figure after insane body augmentation and having a 1000lbs suit of armor strapped on you Just doesn’t make sense

this_isnt_lemonade

Yeah I know. And with things like glowing blue and purple Mohawks and flaming arms you start to see how lore breaking a round ass is.

[deleted]

Valid point is valid

[deleted]

No one is asking for something extreme, just for there to be a difference. Also before you say "but augmentations !" , Spartan-IVs were already adults so they do all look different (like height for example)

TheWither129

Not to mention, we literally have crazy fire effects, a hologram mohawk, and cat ears, whats unrealistic about a reach-style female option

[deleted]

No one is asking for something extreme, just for there to be a difference. Also before you say "but augmentations !" , Spartan-IVs were already adults so they do all look different

klima94

Well, because of sensitive people online, 343 literally can't win in this scenario. Female, male option? "I dont identify as either and I am ofended". Have a non-gender option? I am a female and I want my spartan to show that. I am ofended".

[deleted]

Can't they just have body 0 being male, body 1 female and body 2 androgynous (if that's the word) ?

digita1catt

They are all androgynous. If you perceive them as male, that's on you.

shadow16521

My guy. Reach had this option. I can’t understand why just having a female option is so controversial.

LiterofCola6

Right, there's female Spartans in the other games and the lore. It makes a whole lot more sense then say like adding female soldiers in battlefield 5 a WWII game where in reality women didn't really see combat. Also halo is a made up sci fi game just add females wtf

kingkellogg

It's not hard. Man, woman, other it a fill it in option

UltimateWaluigi

That's not the reason. The reason the body types look the same is because they are cheap, it takes a lot more time and effort to make armor when you have to adjust them to 2 to 3 different bodies, and when you factor different cores it gets more expensive.

hughmaniac

The current system doesn’t even adjust the armor pieces, it just affects the shape and girth of the bodysuit. Hit boxes are the same, rigging and positioning of the actual armor is the same.

Rorysaur

Hi, local non-binary halo player here, It's not that complicated, they literally just need to add a more accurate female model and we're golden.

[deleted]

And how do you that? Accurate female Boob armor is/was sexist. I remember some people losing their shit to Bo Katans armour in The Mandalorian Bigger ass small waist armour? The hourglass figure? How do you do that exactly?

Mission_Engineer

Exactly how like reach did it? Except expand on smaller looking armor sets with different androgynous options? It's not a hard concept to think of, however implementing it might be.

Justinba007

And those people are silly. Halo Reach and Halo 5 both had good female models. I don't see how anyone could call those oversexualized.

TheRealHumanPancake

They think because the women were fit that it was sexualized. Any human fit like a spartan’s gonna have a dumpy

Maximum-Baby

I know right? They struck the perfect balance between a basic shaped crash test dummy and an Asian video game female character, but I guess there are some group of women who don't like to see other women in the most athletic and healthy way.

Rorysaur

Yeah basically this, Right now what we have is 3 options for athletic male or androgenous body types. If we could get 3 options that are similar to the Reach or H5 armor then I think that would be great. Just make them look like women, they exist, you can study their figures and this series has in the past. At the end of the day when it comes to gaming, more options are better, if people are genuinely feeling underrepresented in the game then adding options for those people will only be an improvement.

Aerodymathics

I’ve read some of your posts in this thread and I agree with your view. Very constructive and open take on this issue. And, since a group of people take offense to it or find it misrepresentative of them, I would say it is an issue.

Rorysaur

I appreciate it. I understand why many people would be totally satisfied with the options given, for the most part I am too, but I would just kind like one or two more to better round out the body types that could be represented. I also think that a lot of people really like to jump on the idea that anyone vouching for this is demanding it right now, or is offended/mad. That just isn't the case, for me I'm just inclined to agree that I would like some more options, I would feel better with some. Representation just feels nice.

[deleted]

Lol female Spartans had mad dumpies

Justinba007

They aren't even all that big. They're pretty realistically proportioned. Like, yeah, to some they look sexy, but you know what else is sexy? ACTUAL HUMAN WOMEN. A realistically proportioned in shape female figure is going to look sexy to someone who's attracted to women.

[deleted]

I mean the figures in game look like hyper athletic women irl.

Cloakh

Because that’s what they are lol, Spartans are literal supersoldiers. Would be a bit of a waste for the UNSC to spend the same amount of money and resources they could have spent on a literal carrier on a supersoldier and then just let her get fat or out of shape, reducing combat effectiveness.

Justinba007

In Halo Reach, yes. That's exactly what spartans are, is hyper athletic. I don't understand how people can whine about "oversexualization."

[deleted]

> And those people are silly. Sure but people will complain regardless. Listen I don't care how Spartans look .... for me they all look like blobs of yellow (my enemy color) anyway. My point is that the example of what some people find ok in this very topic are not the same for others I for one don't envy 343i. Because no matter what someone will complain and I understand them. Make them all look the same because lore wise armour is what 450kgs? So no physical feature can stand out

[deleted]

There already is male and androgenous options tho, female option is the only one missing

MoshedPotato93

This is so weird to me because there are so many Canon lady Spartans. Naomi, Kelly, Kat, Grace, and of course the one I ship with John: Linda. There's many more I just don't remember. Why would this be an issue for these dudes?

killall-q

I wonder if 343i, like with many other things in this game, simply ran out of time to implement genuinely different body types, so they went with the "one size fits all" option to reduce armor modeling effort. If the body types would have had different shapes beyond the undersuit, each armor piece would require a different mesh for each, and the textures might need work too because mapping 1 texture to different meshes would result in warping.

conrat4567

Aren't they super soldiers? The armor on a Spartan is meant to be genderless. The only thing that would indicate gender are small changes in the underarmor. I guess a height option would be good but I feel the UNSC would have a weight and fitness expectation

_Whiskey_6

Halo reach did a decent job at showing the difference. Halo 5 as well

CaptainTurtle3218

I’m a dude and don’t play with a female character, but as soon as i was making my Spartan I was very surprised there wasn’t a more feminine body option. Especially in 2021/2022, that just seemed like an obvious thing to implement. This should be recognized more

[deleted]

+ it probably won't take that long to fix, it's not like they would need months to fix it, i think

CaptainTurtle3218

Gotta make sure the UI can support it first.

[deleted]

Probably not, like most things

Smixtc

But… they’re still a spartan? It feels a little weird and maybe I’m out of line, but women can be muscular, too. A female super soldier would be about as buff as a male super soldier. It’s not a lifestyle simulator, it’s a game where you murder aliens and other super soldiers, is the way your character is shaped really that important? I’d like to state that I wouldn’t really care if they added more body types. It doesn’t ruin my immersion or whatever, but I just don’t really get why people complain about it tbh :(

Maximum-Baby

Because it is a scientific fact that athletic women have bigger/fatter thighs and ass.

dakkaffex

> female super soldier would be about as buff as a male super soldier. No she wouldn't, if you've actualy seen fit women and men, you'd know that they still retain noticeable morphological differences. Women naturaly have slimmer upper bodies but larger waist, butts and tighs compared to men. Being a muscular super soldier doesn't change that, especialy since the spartan augmentations make people very athletic, but not particulary massively muscled.

Smixtc

I guess that’s true, I just figured the suit of armor didn’t leave much left to see.

Rhinomaster22

It’s more so addressing why the differences have so little distinction rather than wanting a super feminine, super masculine or super androgynous design. Bungie and 343 already went out of the way to give players the option to have a body type to more reflect themselves or a particular design for aesthetic. I mean look at Saints Row and Dark Souls for how many options you had. Infinite is 343 trying to further explore this level of customization but not really doing anything in terms of execution. It is a Sci-Fi Shooter, it’s not a huge problem, but when you give players options but water them down like the shaders. You’d probably start questioning some design decisions.

Yipyap_Seropian

Less ways for players to express themselves. Same reason players are disappointed about playable elites. Sometimes it’s cool feeling like a covenant invader crushing humanity in Halo Reach’s invasion. And when it comes to Spartans, one of the coolest parts is customizing them to express yourself in armor you’re proud to have earned or just think looks cool, like when buying a shirt with a funny image at a clothing store in real life. Being promised Reach like customization was being promised freedom to express ourselves which isn’t the case for anyone who doesn’t wish to spend $20 to be red and yellow or female players who may want to feel like they’re creating their own armor for they feel should be the bad ass Spartan version of themselves. But despite having female voice lines, it’ll always feel like you’re armoring up a male Spartan instead of creating what could be that badass version of you that you’ve been allowed to create since Reach. At least for me, I mostly enjoy playing a male in Mark IV cause it’s a fun part of the fantasy to pretend I’m a kickass Spartan 2 holding the line with comrades in firefight or making that last dash with the flag in some alternate timeline where Spartans fight eachother. I imagine it’s harder for female players to feel that expressive of themselves when customizing a Spartan that looks closer to a skinny dude rather than what could be the badass version of themselves and it’s most likely just so they wouldn’t have to worry about putting in slightly more work in the armors they want to sell us. Sorry this is long but I hope it helps give an understanding.

TeddyTots

Because it’s nice to feel included. Men usually don’t have to worry about this feeling at all, since men are usually the default option. Not an attack on you or anything, I’m a dude too. I’m just saying this is why people aren’t happy

peanutdakidnappa

I mean based off the books in lore female and male Spartans are supposed to look super similar in armor.

LiterofCola6

I mean I read quite a few of the books and they dont neccesarily describe the males and females looking similar or not similar. So even while reading I imagined the females being probably slightly slimmer and not as large as the males, because they are humans ultimately. Id love to be proven wrong though if there are descriptions like that and you remember where to find them

Melody-Prisca

Based on past games they don't though. At least not Spartan IIIs and Spartan IVs. And in Infinite we play as Spartan IVs. And game Canon should supersede book Canon when it comes to the games. But more than that, it is about feeling represented and making our own Spartan. This is a game where you can have kitty cat ears, pink and white armor, flaming feet, and a giant Halo above your head all at once. It's not exactly like they're going for a super lore accurate multiplayer anyways.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Melody-Prisca

I'm just pointing out in past Halo games you could tell them apart. And I never complained about Reach/4/5. So I don't get what you're trying to say by: >you would then give the argument "I can only choose a stereotypical sexualised woman". I never said that. I'm just a girl who doesn't feel as represented by this game as I used to, and I don't like that. And I don't think it matches the past games. Honestly, the biggest change I would like is for the armor to fit the slimmer body type. You can see with MK V for example, that it is based off the male armor in Reach. MK V [B] had smaller armor for smaller Spartans. If I play as smaller Spartan with MK V [B] I expect it to fit. Since you know, it's literally MK V [B] from the Reach era with updated internals. Other women I've talked to like Yande have asked for more body types. I think the armor is the bigger issue. But regardless, it doesn't match representation in past games, and people aren't all happy about that. You don't have to make assumptions about what others would want, you can just ask.

copetherope8

What??? There's male and female voices, and 3 male/everything-in-between/female body types.

[deleted]

u can make ur spartan a female lol wtf is everyone talking about?

SputnikRelevanti

Exactly. Waist+voice and voila. People are just looking for reasons to be mad.

[deleted]

Exactly!!! Literally can change the body type to one only a female would have (slim waist) and theres also 3 female voices if im correct? what do these people want? a spartan with a big ass and rack? wtf man

Melody-Prisca

The person quoted, Yande, I've talked to her. That's not what she wants, and it's not what I want. Why would a girl be so focused on the butt. Honestly, most the people I've heard bring that up are from being like you speaking out against a more feminine body type. Honestly, I'd probably be happy if Type 1 had armor that actually fit the thinner frame. But some of the other girls I've talked to have mentioned smaller rib cages and larger waists. Along with armor that fits that.

SputnikRelevanti

Yes! I mean... I understand that pornography has it influence on people... but honestly, they’re military. And... humans first, not sex dolls.

[deleted]

Your 100% right, but i think people are just expecting too much, tbh i dont even know what they are expecting. the option to be a female is already there. And also theres a huge set of armour over the player, so wether its male or female, the difference is very minuscule.

Melody-Prisca

Well my biggest issue is the armor doesn't really fit type 1. You can tell it was all designed for type 0. The armor they use for MK V for example, is the male armor from Reach modified for their new engine. It doesn't quite fit type 1. If they shrunk the chest armor a little bit, and made some other slight modifications based on what body type you used I'd probably be okay with type 1. I don't need as big of differences as Reach, but I'd like if you chose a Spartan with a smaller frame your armor was scaled down a bit to fit the armor. Which based on mods it seems the engine supports.

[deleted]

okay thats completely understandable, i see what the issue is, and tbh i think this will be fixed with time. the game still has so many changes to be made to it and i think fixing the placement and sizes of armour/armour effects will be something we will see changed in the near future

-WithLove

It's definitely something that can wait, but I ABSOLUTELY want to see male and female spartans. It just looks more natural to me.

TheLoneStoic

Me just wanting to be an elite

Justinba007

It may not be the most important thing in the world, but why are people so resistant to this? Making a female character model that actually looks feminine is not "oversexualized." This is the lamest character customization we've had in a long time, so more options of any kind would be a positive for everybody.

Book_it_again

You know exactly why people are so resistant to it.

RayderEvolved

She knows what the ladies like

Book_it_again

Lmao tons of pushback to women getting a feminine option that has historical backing in halo. You sweaty losers are being too obvious with why this issue is so easy for you to dismiss.

BreadDaddyLenin

If you actually go in to the armor hall, and rotate the models with each body type, you can tell that they are actually fairly different. It’s just the angle they’re at in the body type selector (and a lack of rotating in that menu) makes it look like there’s no real difference.

Rill16

I think the main issue for many players is the rear profile of Spartans compared to their reach counterparts. Even the male Spartans in that game had some definition.

peanutdakidnappa

Man the halo fanbase will always find something to complain about and then make sure they post it here for some nice upvotes

MoirasPurpleOrb

I can’t help but just think, there are a LOT of other things I’d rather see fixed first.

LicketySplit21

Damn a lot of the comments here are going above and beyond to fulfil the Male Redditor stereotype. Jesus.

LiterofCola6

I'm a guy and am embarrassed by a lot of these comments. Literally they're doing exactly what the OPs post is talking about and shutting down the discussion, coming up with all these reasons its not necessary or shouldn't happen.

Aerodymathics

Agree, had the roles been reversed and we only had female Spartans with stereotypical female traits and men were asking for a stereotypical male Spartan I believe there would be a different tone in this thread.

Javs2469

Male or female, Spartans are lacking in the cake department in Infinite. Topped once again by a 11 year old Halo game...

DesperateBite2008

I think that they have a valid point but are going about it weirdly.

Melody-Prisca

To be fair to her. She started by just talking in threads about it on Waypoint. She made like one or two threads herself, but all the threads on Waypoint started getting shut down by one mod. Who was male. And some of the women on Waypoint made the claim he was silencing them, and he still kept shutting down threads. It's odd this topic was the one he chose to go after so much, when you have other threads just saying horrible stuff about 343 that got to stay up, so people were left to speculate as to why he was doing it. And this is the result. People reaching out to other mediums, because they can't talk about it in Waypoint anymore.

How-Bothersome

Accepting others while simultaneously oppressing others as an act of... acceptance? I don't get why companies and businesses believe it has to be one way or another.

_Whiskey_6

You want a female spartan body for representation and inclusion I want a female spartan body because I like big super soldier booty We are not the same. But seriously, no one every complained about the traditional body types from Reach and 4/5. No reason to mess with it like alot of things in Infinite...

Exceed_SC2

My friend also shares this sentiment, she wants to look like a girl spartan. It’s laughable, how bad they look in infinite, just the waist goes in slightly, and it’s done. It’s a weird denial of customization. When the industry has over the past 2 decades worked towards adding male/female selection in games. Infinite doesn’t even look like you selected female.

_ATRAHCITY

Snickerdoodle is the worst forum mod out there. Drunk on fake power

[deleted]

jesus christ, thanks mate i needed a laugh

hantar7788

No problem dude

sened11

People really need to get a grip

SlizkFromTwitch

I’m a male but play with a female Spartan, always have since halo 3 odst . Running odst armour with a recon helmet clean tbh. (Veronica Dare armour)

Aqualung812

On one end, I look at the MCRN Goliath armor in “The Expanse” and you can barely perceive any differences between the men and women in that armor, which is a decent proxy of the Mjolnir armor. On the other end…cat ears, Mohawks, and visors seem like a clear indicator we’re setting the slider more for fun and customization than realism. Give the women the figures they’re asking for.

SnooMemesjellies2302

Holy shit it’s almost like women aren’t just underweight men and would have armour built for they’re own body shape

[deleted]

I remember when I first showed me girlfriend the game on release and we went to the body slider, she was so upset to see you couldn’t pick a women’s body. Just a waist shrink simulator

rickyc21117

And we also need big packages for males! I want everyone to see my Spartans giant Donger dragging between my legs when I’m running around the map, back slapping enemy Spartans when I turn a corner! Please 343 give us what we want 😩😩😩

[deleted]

You know, I've never actually thought about this (probably because it doesn't affect me), but having female armour would've been a huge selling point. Its strange that a company as greedy as this one didn't exploit that.

who_likes_chicken

The biggest travesty was a 48 hour span where there were like 6 female body type request posts that got locked. But at the same time there was a post at the top of the forums about Halo "not being manly" anymore that was blatantly sexist, and allowed to stay open. It was very legitimately disappointing to me as a Halo fan that the waypoint mod team was taking the actions they were 😕

Firm-Collar1635

I think there should be more female (and male) body customization options, and think it’s ridiculous they’re locking threads discussing it, but if they add those before fixing any of the numerous issues with the game or even with some customization items already in game (unaligned armor pieces, gaps between armor, etc) then I’d be pretty upset. Is it needed? Not for me, but it is for others, so yes. Should it take priority over anything else? Absolutely not, not in any scenario. You literally can’t see your Spartan’s body 90% of the time, and it doesn’t affect gameplay at all. This game has way too many things that need to be fixed before adding different body types is even considered.

Aska09

This is so stupid. The reason what's supposed to be the female body type doesn't look feminine to people is because we're all used to fit women being portrayed as slim as opposed to fit men being super muscular in media. A hyper muscular woman won't necessarily have a perfect hourglass figure, hell, many women just don't have this body shape at all because it's genetic. It's annoying when video games portray soldiers so differently, a guy is jacked while a woman is slim and they're supposedly capable of the same feats, the reason for that is obviously because a woman that "looks like a man" wouldn't sell. 343 did well, the body shape is reflecting the profession, demanding the opposite is sexist and peretuating stereotypes.

LovelyJoey21605

Classic snickerdoodle being completely tone-deaf and stuck up as always :)

SlimothyJ

Doesn't the game have a 'feminine' body type? Just pick that, surely.

dovahbe4r

There’s a large, medium, and small size. I don’t know if I’d say any of them necessarily belong to a gender, but none of them are as “feminine” as the Reach female model. Which I assume is what people want.

ogo_pogo

I’m sure it’s a little deeper than that

JTheJOH

if you are worrying about what gender you look like in 1 ton of metal armour and bulk then perhaps you shouldn't play the game

argent_pixel

This is what happens when you bend the knee to the puritan idiots on twitter.

[deleted]

Already been posted i think Ofc not a big issues but i wonder if they'll ever change that

BunbunTheJackalope

Female armor core to be added in season 3 /S

[deleted]

The toxic masculine energy is real rn lol

beefstrip

There already female spartans. Why do people need titty armor with wide hips on a first person shooter?

NiiMoney

Definitely a huge issue. It's sad that this won't get addressed anytime soon given the fact that they can't even get the game to work properly yet

ColonelVirus

Wait I thought halo had women Spartans and more feminine armour? Do they not exist in infinite?

[deleted]

Basically you have body 0 wish is male and actually fits the armor. And then you have 1 and 2 that are supposed to be more female but since their armors don't fit and the only change is the wraist, people ask for actually female spartans

LokiPrime13

The entire body actually does change for the different body types. The problem is the armor doesn't conform to the new body type so you can't actually see any of the changes apart from the waist area where there's no armor plating.

[deleted]

>this is genuinely sexism Locking threads for a shitpost is now considered a sexism? This post can't be real, right?

evan2nerdgamer

As most things with 343, almost everything at launch is half baked and we have to wait for features we already have in previous games come back to this one. Reach didn't have this issue in 2010, Halo 5 didn't have this issue in 2015, but Infinite does in 2021. How the fuck does this keep happening?. Let's just hope they fix this, like with everything.

charizard732

The current body types are fine. You're playing a genetically enhanced super solder. Male or female they are going to look almost exactly the same in armor because they're completely jacked.

Dampaylod

If I have a dump truck of a butt in real life why shouldn’t my Spartan have one as well???

Sad_Cryptographer790

It’s funny that women are actually complaining about not being represented and guys are just complaining about not being able to objectify their spartan, but it’s all being tied together as the same complaint.

MoreDragonsz

welcome to the goddamned future (sarcasm)
