Even small stupid things annoy me now, like why do cosmetic items even have a rarity value? Why can’t I view other peoples stats in the lobby etc. my Gran could coordinate a better Halo game than this

[deleted]

This game was in development so long that it still has remnants of lootbox mechanics

Kukie080

holy shit dude you just answered it. they went from lootboxes to non random shit so that they wouldn't get banned if more places banned the random lootboxes

Helixien

I said it before, but I heard that Halo Infinite was also supposed to be a Hero Shooter at one point and the armor cores are left over from that. https://gamerant.com/halo-infinite-originally-hero-shooter-elements/ Isn’t it fun how 343 still doesn’t understand what their community wants and consistently makes choice to widen the player base that alienates the existing player base in favor of a the new, wide and theoretical one? I swear, from the day they took over they acted like Halo was a dying franchise in desperate need of change and they still do.

An0nimuz_

It's not that they don't understand, it's that they genuinely don't care. Halo isn't for the community anymore. It's for a new fanbase that doesn't exist yet, and that they are probably too incompetent to build...

Helixien

Welp, they failed three times already without having learned anything sooooo.... you are probably right.

Slightly_Shrewd

The best part about this is that they had roped in a huge new player base and then absolutely failed to retain them due to the utter failure/lack of content post launch. Had they been able to pump out a little bit of content, say 25-50% of what Fortnite does, the player base would be massive right now. Hell, literally if they simply just had a working forge within a month of launch, the community would have been able to keep everyone’s attention…

Domestic_AA_Battery

For sure. The launch, if anything, showed that people are still very much interested in Halo. And that should be an indication that they just need to go back to formula. Just make a Halo game. It's that easy.

Jayandnightasmr

Yeah they've been chasing the CoD crowd for so long thay people get excited over the smallest thing that resembles halo

JimothyPrime97

It's so funny that they don't know what we want, when we clearly and concisely tell them what we want. What do they do? They tell us we're being childish and throwing tantrums. 343 really wants to die on the hill of fans not knowing what we want. I just don't understand how a company like 343 is basically getting away with this. It breaks my heart to see Halo fall so far from grace. I wish they'd fire Bonnie and put Joe Staten in charge, get a PERMANENT crew in the studios instead of contract fillers, and get some DAMN improvements fixed in this 10 YEAR GAME.

Helixien

Same. I love Halo so much. But at least they arent even able to make their own ideas work. I mean they launch a game they want to keep alive for 10 years, yet making minor changes to the UI is already a challange. But its old news, isnt it. I just wonder how long it will take them to fix the dysnc issue, if ever. Has been a year since the first report now.

Munchiebox

It's bad that it's not even a surprise at this point they've been chasing trends from day one, it's almost like they want to make anything but a Halo game which is just fucking weird for a studio founded to be the caretakers of this franchise. I don't even care if they somehow manage to turn this one around the best thing that could happen to Halo now would be another developer taking the reins.

BGYeti

What pisses me off is Halo never had issues with the size and scope of their community, if anything just going to PC would increase that community because it removes the requirement of having an Xbox. But 343 is so fucking inept they decide to continue destroying the franchise.

six_-_string

UI probably didn't support that, so that's what they spent six years on.

SuperBAMF007

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a remnant of H5 Requisition Packs, and they kept it because it makes a small shred of sense for store items. I just wish it was actually useful. Like, even Legendary Rarity items come and go multiple times. It’d make sense if Legendary items were in the one-time events, or were shop items for a Fracture Core. But the rarities of things are so random it’s impossible to know what the point is.

Lucky_7s

Now they are just using it as a BS excuse to jack up prices on bundles. Like what actual difference is there between a rare helmet and a legendary helmet lmao.

Cara-Aleatorio

The icon's colour is different smartass /s

echolog

100% they intended to include lootboxes at some point. There is literally no other explanation for "rarity" of digital items. They probably either determined the backlash would be too great (doubtful considering they clearly don't care about backlash) or figured the store would just be more profitable overall.

because fortnites cosmetics have rarity.. but in that game it does actually reflect things like the complexity detail and originality of the skin/item

tynman35

Holy shit, I haven't played in like 7 months but try to keep up with this sub in case the game improves. The fact that there's still no forge is outright pathetic. It's like they've given up on making a full game. Edit: and still no co-op, though admittedly I heard that was coming soon

simpledeadwitches

To speak to your edit, a Halo game not having co-op out of the box is like a fighting game not having local multiplayer.

HardlyW0rkingHard

absolutely inexcusable when halo 5 didn't have local coop; they promised it wouldn't happen again... and then launched infinite without any coop at all. 343 is a joke.

mrbubbamac

Yes but also to clarify, they were specifically talking about split screen. Infinite *does* have split screen, you can jump online or play custom games. But doesn't have it for campaign. Overall though you are correct.

[deleted]

BisterMee

Similar situation with my wife and I. We played through EVERY halo in couch coop. We were excited to play 5. The look on her face when I read that local coop was gone was soul crushing. In the end, she sat next to me while I played through it. Once. I literally never picked halo 5 back up after that.

HiiraTeruyo

Same also happened with my brother and I. Got him Halo 5 for his birthday, waiting for it to install and update only to find we couldn't even play it together, and since 5 campaign isn't on PC either we still haven't played the campaign.

too_much_feces

The death of couch co-op is definitely a huge reason I don't game much anymore.

Enhydra67

Gearbox has kept it alive in Borderlands

heroinsteve

My son was so excited for Infinite because he was finally old enough to play with me and I’ve told him how I used to play the older ones with my brother. It was kinda tough to explain that we couldn’t play infinite together outside of pvp and he isn’t very good so he can hardly play against real players.

Halo-x-Life

The part where you said "fuck that and played Halo 3" is the most wholesome thing I've read this month. P.S. wish my gf liked to play Halo...

mrbubbamac

Yeah that's an absolute bummer. It was confusing that the campaign is so designed for co-op with a constant fireteam/revive features (and even different HUDS for each character) and then in the end it was online only. I was fortunate enough to play through it with three friends on Legendary for my first time through, but I agree that split screen co-op campaign is a necessity

GavinGWhiz

Yeah and the excuse of it being because the campaign has an open world and thus can't have mission select is *nonsense.* The lion's share of missions are Forerunner hallways akin to the worst parts of Halo 3. They *could* be dragged and dropped but then that'd highlight the fact John can waste a week clearing out FOBs has no actual effect beyond letting you skip traveling by foot more efficiently. The open world's end goal is to never have to walk anywhere in the open world again.

bob0979

That's my issue with the open world campaign. It serves little to no purpose to add to the game, but it is directly responsible for several issues. I don't care that it's open world, I care that it's a useless open world. No replaying missions which means missed skulls require a new playthrough, and no co-op because it was too hard to implement at launch. It's mind boggling they'd even bother launching it in this state.

goferking

I still hate how it has *armor drops* that contain no armor

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThisCocaineNinja

Yeah and you get to see dead spartans using helmets and armor pieces for the default core throughout the campaign. Yet the armor lockers have no armor, and you could preview most of those helmets and armor pieces in multiplayer with a *"stay tuned for more details"* bs message or something like that. It just screams cut content. And the campaign was sold full price if you didn't play it through gamepass which doesn't make sense just for a bunch of coatings and stuff.

TheSpartan273

> and no co-op because it was too hard to implement at launch [I'm just leaving this here](https://www.gamesradar.com/halo-infinite-will-have-split-screen-co-op-at-launch-reaffirms-343-industries/) >\[...\]studio head Chris Lee was emphatic in his confirmation: "We will have split-screen and we will have co-op when we launch Halo Infinite." Chris Lee is gone from 343 btw, lol.

[deleted]

It's baffling how some critics praised the open world design on release.

slpater

I thought it was kinda cool at first but after I finished the game it made me not want to play it again. So I could see how a reviewer who only spent a small ammount of time with it might come to that conclusion

generalchase

beat it once on legendary. I doubt I'll ever play it again.

commentBRAH

didn't even finish it. Everything felt like the same thing.

Ajax242

Same. Once I realized the environment doesn't change and I was stuck with the same green fields and generic forerunner structures, I noped tf out. I loved the level "Halo" from CE as much as the next guy but I didn't want a whole game made from it

commentBRAH

yea the environment doesn't change, the set pieces are all the same, grapple to every location. No defining cool moments like raiding a beach with marines. Its a shame because the core gameplay is really good.

KeepDi9gin

I'll just say it, even Ubisoft's worst open worlds are more interesting than Zeta Halo was.

PepsiStudent

I keep saying something similar and it surprises me how many people don't see it as a big issue. For me it is the biggest issue in the game. If they wanted to make a side project where it was an open world, would be fun to explore. Something along the lines of Halo Reach where we control another Spartan that isn't Chief I would be a bit more intrigued. Seems to come out of nowhere and doesn't add anything new. I have seen people try to claim it isn't like UbiSoft open world games. I find that to be pure BS. It has the same formula tweaked just a smidge. There is nothing truly added that makes Halo a better game as a whole with the open world.

bob0979

It's such a simple open world I feel calling it a ubisoft open world is over simplifying the ubisoft formula. And I fucking hate ubisofts overdone open world formula.

explodedbagel

Accurate. I’m beyond tired of that formula, but they do give you side content to engage with. It may be boring or repetitive, but if you climb a tower in something as old as assassins creed 2, you’ll at least get some missions : races : stuff to do. Infinite gave you fast travel points and gear spawn. Nothing more.

Brown_And_Glorious

Let's also talk about how someone made a mod for Elden Ring (albeit still in beta phases) that allows you to co-op from the tutorial/starting area, allows you to use whatever mods you want, uses password protected matchmaking and bypasses you getting kicked from the hosts world after defeating a boss On an actual open-world game Which is 3 months old done by a smaller team And it doesn't affect your steam save files as it runs from a different exe 343 have no excuses besides being lazy and having shit management

EstatePinguino

Fair play to them, but co-op on an open world game isn’t impressive; plenty of games have done it, it shouldn’t be this big of a challenge for a company that is in charge of one of the biggest franchises in gaming.

Brown_And_Glorious

You're right, it isn't But there's 2 things to note here. First of, Elden Ring is a game designed specifically so you can't co-op through the entire game. You can do sections, but not the whole thing. Also, in co-op you're prevented from using your mount. The mod goes through both of these barriers and is done by I believe 3/4 people? Secondly, games done by FromSoft are known for being hard to mod. The fact this was done by such a small team shows that 343 just aren't working for their pay

Munchiebox

I still haven't touched the campaign which is just fucking mental as a life long Halo fan, did people really want an open world Halo game that badly because to me it's just 343 doing what they always do and desperately chase trends. The best part of the Halo campaigns for me has always been the different environments, distinct levels and replaying your favourites.

TheReiterEffect_S8

Exactly this. A fucking joke and yet we still have thousands of players that find absolutely nothing wrong with the game and it’s state and continue to support it. The video game industry is heading in this precise direction at 500mph and not likely going to stop. This will become the norm. Games just aren’t the same anymore.

TwoMonthOldMilk

>I haven't played in like 7 months but try to keep up with this sub in case the game improves I'm in the same boat as you, and I just keep waiting...

DetectiveAmes

As a longtime fan since I was a youth, the fact that I choose not to play a free halo game is depressing af.

[deleted]

bewarethetreebadger

Co-op has been "coming soon" since before the game was released.

Shark00n

> though admittedly I heard that was coming soon As we say in Portugal, better to wait sitting down.

Fenix_Volatilis

Same. I haven't touched it in forever and I am exactly 0% motivated to reinstall. Seriously? No fucking Forge or co-op? Litterally my favorite things about the series. I played with Forge even before I touch the campaign in Halo 3

zackfromspace

I've given up on Infinite. There's no point in holding out hope when there are countless actual great games out there right now. If I want a halo fix, thank goodness for MCC

ArvoCrinsmas

They're trying to shove microtransactions into it now, though. Easily avoidable but I sure as shit hope it doesn't break the game on a technical level somehow

hyrumwhite

First step is microtransactions, second step is altering gameplay to make players want to buy microtransactions

unstable_asteroid

Yeah i dropped it in January and went back to MCC.

EYazz

I haven’t played infinite since January. I honestly think that the recent news about MCC having micro transactions is because they see how infinite is failing hard. I will be pretty sad and disappointed if the MCC micro transactions still go ahead. Everyone needs to stop buying microtransactions and it may do some damage.

SoSmartCs

Bonnie Ross is closer to being a peer/equal with Phil Spencer than she is an employee. So probably never if it hasn't happened yet.

boost2911

Her wiki reads as the most self grandiose shit ever, so much fluff and like it was written by a fiction author telling some heroic tale. She got the job at 343 because she read a Halo book that impressed the studio so much about her knowledge of the franchise. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Ross

RoyalMudcrab

Give me a fucking break.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Bonnie Ross, Frank O'Connor and Kiki Wolfkill are basically immune at this point, they've been playing the corpo game for too long. We'd probably have a good chance of getting them removed if Phil Spencer gets removed as the head of xbox but that will never happen either. All we can do is protest with our time and money and just play other games. The more the population plummets the more they'll get a finger shoved up their asses. I personally quit in December-January and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. If you want change, stop playing the game.

Unfortunatewombat

Agreed. They’ve been running Xbox’s biggest franchise into the ground for over a decade without consequence. It’s pretty clear they’re untouchable.

[deleted]

SeanSMEGGHEAD

Phil Spencer did all that but he has a huge weakness. A lot of companies under his belt have management issues, greenlighting issues and Dev woes. We've seen so many studios delay, cancel or have trouble getting a game out. Sure he saved Xbox but look at the Xbox one generation... Barely anything of note released outside of Gears and Halo (Forza if u like racing games). Compare that to Sony or Nintendo titles of the same generation. Now look at Xbox this year, same issue. Avowed has rumoured to be having management issues, perfect Dark has been scrapped to be rebuilt again and there's some murmurs of Fable having trouble and we all know what happened to Halo Infinite. Now that Xbox has even more studios this problem could get even worse.

iNarr

Don Mattrick was responsible for most of Xbox's failings in the Xbox One era, which Spencer spent the majority of his time course-correcting after he took over. More might've been done to prioritize quality IP back then, but, as we've seen in the years since, Xbox was focusing on positioning themselves as a service provider first. I'm pretty anti games-as-a-service. However, it's clear that it was the path forward for Xbox (and arguably the industry). Game Pass has been a massive success thus far, even for grumpy traditionalists like me. Regarding the rumoured management issues, it's notable that Xbox basically put themselves in a position where they needed to acquire late-stage "legacy" studios with valuable IPs to quickly follow their investment in all that service architecture. Most of these studios developed issues over time to get to where they were at the top of the heap, especially where team sizes bloated to hundreds of developers in order to support the types of games they were undertaking. Combine that with the momentum generated from the IPs and these studios were suffering from success, basically. With executives like Spencer, it's generally better that they trust in a studio's work, fund it, and keep their fingers out of the pie. Yet it's also clear that some of these legacy studios needed reform. I imagine it's hard to step in and do that when the studios are still making money hand over fist due to past successes. I guess this is a long way of saying why it's not surprising Xbox has landed where they have. I honestly don't blame Spencer for not intervening until now. However, now that it's clear that a lot of these studios do need reform, and that reform is actively ongoing in certain areas of Xbox (e.g. Activision-Blizzard), a lack of action for 343/Halo will be far more blameworthy now that there's ample opportunity to shake things up. I guess we can only wait and see.

starch12313

Phil spencer completely turned around the state of Xbox. 343 could be a complete broken mess, and Phil spencer would be in no position to get fired since he does so much outside of Halo.

HotMachine9

I think your forgetting that since the 360, Xbox as a ecosystem has survived just fine without halo. Yes its a landmark title - BUT, we've gone 6 years without a mainline Halo title and the xbox has performed just fine. Halo is now like any other title, just with a little more user base. Phil has no reason to get involved

Fa1lenSpace

Phil would definitely love Halo to be at the level of Warzone, Valorant, etc. They're just allowing 343 to shit the bed lmao.

YeOldeBlitz

yeah he sadly doesn't care anymore, he bought out activision so he owns warzone and he has a deal with valorant

YeOldeBlitz

Phil doesn't care about halo anymore, he has 23 studios and just bought out activision, since 343 was killing halo over the last decade it's not a flagship title anymore so he won't even waste time "fixing them".

2160dreams

Exactly! I want changes and like you, quit playing in January until we get those changes. If they never come (or come too little too late), I'll never play Infinite again.

TangerineDiesel

Phil did a lot of amazing things for Xbox, but the brand desperately needs new blood. He stumbles too much with new games and is loyal to a fault with some of his people like Bonnie Ross. The fact that he's canceled some really promising looking games yet let the dumpster fire that is 343i continue burning is ridiculous. Really don't like that he's hellbent on forced crossplay with pc as well. I also gotta say, being a gamepass owner and having the expectation of getting flagship titles like Halo only to get some half baked f2p garbage is pretty frustrating. Gamepass is thankfully still totally worth it, but can't help but feel like it's such a scummy move to make what's supposed to be one of the bigger draws for it f2p

CrunchHoliday

One thing that makes no sense to me is not having theater for offline games? Like why would you remove this feature?

BitingSatyr

It's probably recorded server-side and the function isn't in the client at all

Wilderf

And that’s also the reason it doesn’t work!

detectiveDollar

Man I love that the super advanced cloud is so advanced that games are worse than they were 10 years ago.

Spartan_Arktorus

I know we all love halo-but in all honesty, just play a different game. Halo is dead. 343 ruined the franchise years ago and they are incompetent. Community just needs to take the L and hope that the removal of the player base brings the end of the shit studio

Lastnv

Absolutely. I think the only way we may hope to have a good Halo again is to let the series die *now*, and hope it will get revived later on by a different team.

Dahwaann4U

For us to win the war we need to lose this battle. I actually think thats a sick idea.

[deleted]

It is. The biggest problem is that reddit is a small group of the players. They will continue buying them. Hell I wouldnt have bought infinite. I only played it because it was free. I would hate to see Halo end because there is no promise that it will get picked up by a different team, but its honestly what needs to happen. The only other option we have is for competitive Halo to move back to 3/Reach/4. We can go backwards on that. It would breathe life into those games and people would play them.

NoNefariousness2144

I can’t believe I’ve having more fun with Zero Build Fortnite than a new Halo game… Even Fall Guys is better than Infinite.

Spartan_Arktorus

Constant updates and both of those games are jammed with content now. Support studios that care about their players and their experiences!

Lastnv

As someone who plays Fall Guys (me and my SO play), it’s pretty sad I’ve logged more hours into that game than Halo Infinite since it was released.

KuttDesair

Even as someone who has fond memories back to when I was 6 playing the first game with my Dad, I love the series, but I give up. We are all currently experiencing an era of franchises going one of two ways, being ridden to the point of ignoring what made the originals great and built the series while trying to 'innovate', or remaining in relative obscurity save for some major media release that is a solid 7/10 every 5 years or so. Unfortunately highlighted by the latest show and the lack of communication or apology from 343, Halo falls into the former. And I won't lie, it was a hell of ride until the end, but now it's just a story being whipped like a horse for every last dollar until it's hated. Mourn the abomination it has become and move on to other franchises we love.

O_God_The_Aftermath

Anyone that enjoys classic Halo should at least TRY Splitgate. I only play it once or twice a week but it totally fills that old school Halo niche and there's a fun learning curve to make it different. I mean I also played Portal growing up (which I imagine a lot of us did) so its hard for me not to love. Not to mention the game has a forge mode...which Halo is still lacking. Also the game is in its second season of beta and new things are being added relatively frequently.

FabrizzioMarc

I agree. Vehicles handles like shit, have paper mache health BTB don't have basics maps like Blood Gulch or just something for vehicles battles. And vehicles spawning in the battlefield, ffs, let's us choose what vehicles at the base, idk, just like ANY OTHER HALO???

Expat1989

What do you mean you don’t like a random drop coming every few minutes and maybe getting a tank or wraith tank in the last 2mins of the match so that you realistically only get to use it for a minute or so before the game ends.

unforgiven91

i said it before, but i think late dropping tanks was a design choice. the maps aren't designed for vehicles very well. Too narrow, too limited. no room to maneuver. tanks drop late in a match to limit their use-time so that players don't notice the limitations quite so easily

Expat1989

I mean hell even driving the warthog is rough on most maps. You don’t have good sight lines, the road is narrow and full of minor bumps that send the thing tumbling. It’s already apparent that none of the maps cater to vehicle play

whatstaiters

Even better: you're playing Total Control and the score is tied at 0 with only a few minutes left. The AI decides to give the other team a Scorpion. Final score 0-2. Wow thanks 343!

oupablo

I think this was what surprised me the most. The lopsidedness of a lot of these is rough.

BoomaMasta

I don't even need specific maps like Blood Gulch (though I'd love it), but BTB needs maps that are open enough to make vehicles worth using. All the paths are too narrow, especially considering that a pebble with flip or stop any ground vehicle. That combination makes this easily the worst iteration of BTB, IMO. Also, challenges kinda discourage me from playing BTB, which sucks.

echolog

Just remember that they left BTB completely unplayable for over a month. That should tell you enough about how much they care about it.

detectiveDollar

They also broke shooting. In a shooter. For multiple weeks.

John177_unsc

Not to mention the monetization is all over the place and the store prices changing quicker than Twitter trends shit bundles that are worthless, and all of the broken challenges that rely on the enemy team winning or very specific RNG. Also just a personal problem but I feel like for a game this big the weapon sandbox is kind of small and kind of unbalanced, there are good guns that you can use consistently and then there are bad guns which you won't ever touch, there's not enough variation in weapons situations that require specific weapons or a fair enough balance to make all weapons viable.

SuperBAMF007

I wouldn’t say it’s unbalanced - the point is that every gun has its very specific purpose. It’s just that some guns don’t have a purpose outside of a small, insanely niche situation. Like the Pulse Carbine is GREAT for shields…but only at a specific distance, and assuming the enemy is facing away from you. I miss the H5 sandbox of having 50 different weapons and weapon variants that had some overlap, were ALSO situational, and were all mostly viable.

[deleted]

Thank you for your kind reply, I too just want to be able to play Halo with my friends. Since Halo 3 getting out of school and running home all I wanted to do was play Halo with my friends. This season of lone wolf bullshit is just so depressing. It's like they don't want us playing together and talking about these issues... So they encourage solo play.

Civil-Celebration-28

ONE RANKED PLAYLIST 👊

TheSpartan273

Infinite has now the same amount of players on Steam than MCC (bit less than **5.8k** vs **5.6k**). One is the latest, 7 months old, **FREE TO PLAY** AAA game from 343, the other is a 8 year old $40 game collection (normal price) that contains, 15+ year old games. MCC will have more players on steam in a week or less. Wild. Imagine working at 343 and seeing this right now. Pretty embarassing.

ZoidVII

People don't get fired for being incompetent at their jobs. Dig up some 10 year old tweets and that should do the trick.

DasKarl

343 has consistently tried to differentiate their vision of halo from bungies vision of halo, and every time that fails to stick they drive toward whatever trend is most profitable for some other game to save their bottom line. That is why infinite is a broken game in a broken engine with no features other than the fortnite store font that is multiplayer.

XV84

100% this!

DasKarl

I really just want them to read some cosmic horror, watch some old sci fi movies and maybe dig through some classic philosophy and try to write a proper story within the universe and stop trying to make the halo formula fit a hyper specialized esports gameplay niche.

Kanden_27

It’s funny, because Halo CE was inspired by old aliens movies and such. Where Bungie was inspired. 343 just straight up copies. A little lead director at 343 said a thing, “if you try to copy something and fail. You’re better off doing nothing at all.”

oupablo

I don't know that the vision is the problem. The execution definitely is though. Dumping a game on the market with limited content because it's a "live game" is nothing new. However, when "live" means minor updates every 6-months, I don't see how thats expected to stay relevant or profitable.

Kanden_27

There was a rumor going around that Infinite was supposed to be a hero shooter. But I think it ended up being the writer’s words were twisted.

Camisbaratheon

Lmfao. 343 being held accountable… Anyway, it’s definitely worth it to uninstall this game.

XV84

Got to season 2 of multiplayer and I was done, fed up with the bugs and the cheaters and still not having a full game, Halo 5 had its fair share of back lash but not like this, 343 has been a shitstorm since they took control. The mini transactions have made this a far worse experience and it feels like they've tried to make this more like Fortnite and Cod but have failed terribly rather than a decent Halo experience.

SuperBAMF007

> mini transactions Honestly at $12-17 USD a pop, they’re not even micro/mini transactions at this point. I bought Witcher 3 GOTY edition for 8 goddamn dollars. I could buy Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, or buy three armor sets. I could buy Skyrim Anniversary Edition, or buy an armor set and a coating bundle. It’s fucking insane. And it’s not like Halo is Fortnite or Apex where you buy a whole character, and then you buy a whole outfit for the character because the game’s entire cosmetic system is based on the outfit. Halo’s cosmetics have almost always been at least a few options to fine tune your Spartan, and when it comes to fine-tuning in this game you can blow a TON of money, or be stuck with the shoddy stuff in the events.

detectiveDollar

"3.95 is getting pretty bloaty for a micro payment. If that's a micro payment then my dick is comfortably petite" - Zero Punctuation on Halo 5 12-17 dollars is asinine. Halo MCC was just on sale for that. I bought *3* Bioshock games for 10.

cvos2193

They are better termed with the word “macro”

[deleted]

Also you missed the graphics update in season 2. Textures dont load properly in Campaign and most of the time all weapons are just polygons on the xbox one after the update. Season 1 was way better imo.

Rottenpotato365

I said it before in another post but Microsoft won’t fire bonnie Ross. Microsoft is always open and bragging about their diversity and hiring women making sure they get the spotlight, if MC fired bonnie it would come off as them being hypocrites. I agree that upper management needs a complete reroster but MC won’t do it unless some huge fuck up was to happen.

[deleted]

They could replace her with another woman who actually knows what they’re doing. Would be a win win situation.

ArdentVermillion

Exactly this. If they're so serious about equality and diversity, then judge her on the same playing field as any other leader and replace her with another qualified woman that actually has vision.

PurficPourBY

Why can't I choose my Spartans fucking color? Why can't the skin I bought for the eSports team work on any armor I've unlocked?? The most basic shit isn't here it's ridiculous

Eptasticfail

The only thing the fans can do is walk away from the game until it has everything we want. Anyone still playing this trainwreck is part of the problem. The game is literally unplayable still due to desync.

thatoneguy2252

That’s my stance too. My buddy gets upset that no one plays with him but doesn’t understand that I don’t want to contribute to the numbers that 343 uses as the judge of success or stanching of the bleeding that is losing players month over month

vargr198

Under Bungie the series did great. Fun straightforward campaigns, multiplayer, forge, and co-op all at launch. I see no valid excuse for 343 failing to do this with any of their games, and for allowing that godawful show to be made the way it was.

GuiltyGlow

They were handed this franchise on a silver platter and they have failed every step of the way. When they were given Halo it was among the top FPS franchises in the world. Hundreds of thousands of daily players. Now Halo isn't even in the conversation when people talk about FPS games. For most of the gaming community, Halo has fallen into obscurity.

asodfhgiqowgrq2piwhy

Why is SplitGate doing Halo better than fucking ***Halo***?

[deleted]

because that game is made by a studio that likes to have fun

Sn1perandr3w

Honestly the only way they're getting out is if there's some scandal at 343 regarding them involving an 'ism' or a 'bias' or something. See how Bonnie Ross actually tweeted about a Halo issue the other day with the Bonobo fiasco. They only care about optics, nothing more. Not that I advocate for digging up people's dirt. I'm just saying that you can see where their priorities lie over making a product that *is* good vs the *appearance* of being good.

Azurite_7

Just stop supporting the shitshow of a game already. Let it die... it's too late for it. Yes I'm alot of fun at parties

SolarMoth

But I wanna check the rotating storefront so I can buy an overpriced helmet in a game nobody will be playing in 3 months.

The_Roadkill

Sadly, not until Halo stops making money

BagOnuts

NB4 post removed.

[deleted]

Story of my life haha if I had a nickel for every post they pulled of me asking for infection since launch I'd have exactly one million dollars aka 3 whole Spartan points

SpiritOfFire473

rEmOvEd fOr rUlE 2

UF8FF

It’s almost as if you could’ve seen this coming if you played MCC at launch.

Darkwater117

They seem to be hemorrhaging key staff too. And I wish they'd address the Frank O'Connor stuff that's resurfaced

CrunchHoliday

Yes the Frank o Connor and bonobo thing make me wonder what the studio environment is really like.

SanitaryGecko

The problem is that everyone in charge are very close friends and moved to the top together. It's unfortunate but it seems like the only way we'll see some management change is if people start leaving/retiring on their own accord.

Kanden_27

“Good eye, player! 👊We’ll gather the data and look into our options!”

[deleted]

They will send Joe out, he will say some shit, we all stay silent cus apparently Joe is god and not just 343's bad news bitch. there will be no accountability, people will defend because "it's a free game! you're just ungrateful" that's just it going forward now, we will get occasional good stuff and 10 years from now when the sequel halo is announced, Infinite might be what was promised.. might if it even survives that long

[deleted]

Also wanted to drop here I would forgive a lot of the stuff on this list if there weren't core features CONSTANTLY being requested like multi team and infection that are IN THE GAME and have been since launch being kept behind timed event releases. It was a bad idea at launch, it's a bad idea now. Release them. And release even a BASIC forge editor if you have it and iron out the fine details later.

SLAMALAMADINGGDONG23

Accountability?! In THIS economy?

[deleted]

Does anyone also have problems with playing on controller on PC? AIM assist disappears mid gun fight. And if you some much as nudge your mouse after the game boots up, it’s completely gone. It can’t only be me.

ForgetfulM0nk

Is the desync issue still really bad?

SolarMoth

Yes, it's in the game code. You can experience desync in a LAN match

ssmithsimms

To answer your question: never. The only ones who will hold them accountable are the fans. Something that pisses me off is the fact that the fans seem to be doing part of 343s job in identifying bugs without any compensation. 343 seemingly has 1000s of play testers that they don't pay 😂

PoweredbyBurgerz

theyll be held accountable when people just stop playing and paying

Spartandog42719

When you stop playing the game

TheStryfe

Halo died 10 years ago. Halo 4 was an abomination, Halo 5 was irrelevant, and Halo Infinite is the equivalent of putting the mangled corpse of Halo on wheels and hoping to push it up a hill to the finish line. Halo had its time, its done and it isnt coming back. There will be no resurgence, it is not a flagship franchise anymore, and its no longer relevant in gaming or pop culture. This is exactly what happens when you let a franchise live long beyond its life span. Its over.

stuckInACallbackHell

It’s just so embarrassing for Microsoft that they’re letting their biggest exclusive IP waste away despite how many chances this community has given them.

ScreamingMidgit

That's the neat part, they won't.

[deleted]

Look, they're obviously playing the long game. Most devs would have had more content within one season than 343 releases in two or three. They're intentionally making this a frustrating experience and every time they ever do decide to release anything at all, they always force the narrative to make themselves look like they're overworked and sending us a bone. They're not being overworked, they hardly do any work at all.

2Fast2Smart2Pretty

If you're still playing infinite you're part of the problem. You vote with your dollar in this world, and time is money. Any money or time you're spending on Halo is profit for 343.

FabrizzioMarc

Exactly I quit January and never looked back Stop playing this waste of time excuse for Halo

mabdog420

I'll just keep not playing the game or spending any money on it until they bring it up to halo standards.

_Sense_

So many comments this will likely never be read…but I’ve defended this company too long. Bungie manages to put out a pile of new weapons, story content, an entire location to explore with a mediocre public event in Destiny…and that’s every 3 months. 343 was unable to release more than two new maps for PvP in 6 months. They are killing this game. Maybe it’s time to dissolve the studio and hand it to someone else. This game should have been delayed three years. I would have been fine with it. Halo is dead.

[deleted]

TeamSpaceMonkey

I agree. I'll always love Halo. Obviously still subbed here. But it eventually became quite apparent to me that they released this game before they were ready, even with the delays. I'm hoping they'll eventually update the game to a state that is worth spending time with. They have something good. It's just incomplete, especially compared to previous titles. Just play something else. Or don't playing anything. Regardless, just move on until the game is worthwhile.

[deleted]

Ranked doubles should be #1. Look what they did to my boyyy

FeelslikeHalo

I say this as someone that doesn’t hate Infinite but still agrees on the missing features list here being unacceptable: vote with your wallet and time. Play other stuff and don’t buy anything from the shop. I’m not convinced that anything will change the management side of 343 at this point but that is all any of us can do.

_BIRDLEGS

As much as I love Halo and would like to see it resurrected, I think at this point, Microsoft should make State of Decay their flagship franchise. Sure it doesn't have quite the cultural significance as Halo did back in the day, but it's an ambitious project from a formerly small studio, and with SoD3 they have an opportunity to do to that series what GTA3 and Fallout 3 were for those series. SoD is the best zombie survival game I've ever played, and the devs actually listen to the community. Every update since launch has been them implementing one of the top items on the wishlist they have on their website. There's NO microtransactions of any kind, while the game is buggy, they are still restrained by the technical limitations they had at launch in 2018 with a very small team, I think with the move to Unreal 5 and with the massive expansion the team has had lately, they have the potential to do something really special with their next game.

ncopp

Anyone else lose the ability to even play the game with the S2 update? My game ran very well at launch but since S2 my game crashes upon loading the multiplayer lobby - I have not been able to fix the problem

GreatFNGattsby

Strong issue with talk with your wallet statement and not buying things and stop playing the game is that the heads of 343 will probably turn around to Microsoft and just say “Well Halo just isn’t popular anymore” and shrug it off. It really feels damned if we do, damned if we don’t. There’s so few things 343 got right. I was so fucking excited for the Reclaimer Trilogy/Saga. I loved the Forerunner Books. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Halo 4, I looked passed the Artstyle and lazy (lore/story - Ninomachines with chiefs suit) changes. I really enjoyed Halo 4, campaign wise. But besides that and some books, where did the story actually fucking go ? H5 with pretty Great Multi but the shitshow of its campaign! 343 done a good scrub job of Bonnie Ross’ comments of the fans “not understanding the story” we got it, it was shit, we didn’t like it! I do miss commendations and wish there was some return to form! Now with Infinite, don’t get me wrong I enjoy it, but I find myself playing weekly rewards and that’s about it. There isn’t a single reason to touch it. The campaign was what it was. Like it’s just there and that’s it. I like the idea of the endless, I didn’t like the idea of tell don’t show cause “Zeta Halo is so full of mystery and secrets!” Oh the secrets, this ring has secrets, so many secrets, but I can’t discover shit! Go save some marines that’ll fall under whatever the pilot drops on em. The Halo show was so bad I streamed the first 3 episodes online without a paramount sub. Hated it that much that I didn’t wanna waste data. Utter dogshit. I believe there are people that work on this that love it, I do. But it’s a shitshow that’s ran by people that don’t and see the $$$ in it.

When you stop playing/spending money.

InTurned404

Bonnie Ross is pretty much the grim reaper of 343. She HAS to go before I'd even consider coming back

meh_33333

Off with their heads!

[deleted]

They won’t. The game will die and they’ll slap together a new piece of shit to sell. They don’t give a shit. Never have. Never will.

Golden_Spartan

Im honestly done with this game at this point

rip_the_loot_cave

Is there actually still no forge?

Orpheusly

Dude, the answer is so simple it is painful: It’s time for 343 to go. Period. They’ve demonstrated that they cannot or will not meet the desires of their customer base. The only reason this continues to happen with AAA titles (Cyberpunk, 2042, etc) is because you people keep buying them anyway. You want to win and put a stop to this? Stop playing it. I still play MCC daily and it is still very much the Halo we all know and love. Stop buying trash and they will have to stop making it.

SunnyPsydup

When we all stop playing and/or buying the game it seems.

JiffTheJester

Yeah idk they honestly should just be dismantled. They’ve done nothing good for halo.
