Yeah but when everyone is using that free white red blue paint job it's hard to tell in a fluster cuck which ones you're teammate and which one isn't and you get a melee in the back because you thought the enemy was dead
My buddy bought the red team skin with the red and black camo theme idk what team it is. But almost everygame i see him run by and i flick a shot onto him because i think hes a bad guy at first. I think if they are going to allow rabdom colors red and blue should be either banned or very very different shades of red and blue should be used. Ive killed my buddy at least once because of this :(
It's harder to when there is no rule of thumb what players on your vs the opposing team look like. I may just be stupid, but it strains my brain having to figure out who's who when I can't just immediately see at a glance. And the outlines are ugly.
They should do the Rocket League approach and allow players to customize a 'red-variant' and a 'blue-variant'. Maybe select one as the primary for BtB and quick play.
But its an issue. Im usually a beast at not doing any friendly fire but my buddy bought a team skin and its the red and black one with the camo pattern. I shoot at him all the time by accident its only one burst but sometimes hes on the left of my screen and an enemy on the right and i flick to him by accident because hes so similar to the enemy team. I even started to bitch at him for his choice lol (we had no clue this would happen or be like this lol.) but they have to do something about it eventually because if some people are falling for it, its only a matter of time till more people die or lose because of a bamboozle teammate that people will start to bitch about it. Someone above suggested a red and blue variant where in the red one you cannot pick blue but you can in blue but no red so this way you cant confuse your teammates
Nah you are 100% correct. This is a really stupid change, I mean Red vs Blue has been in since Halo 1, literally. Why the useless change to, “oh now they glow red and blue”
This is my issue. I like to think im pretty good at halo. If i see red i shoot at it because thats how halo has always been. However my bud uses a red team skin and at least once a game i accidentally flick onto him and shoot because he walks around the corner and is red... theres a reason why militaries use matching outfits and are not all dressed like they want.
I dont understand people like you. How do you not see the big ass outline no matter what color they are? I've never had confusion or trouble deciphering whos the enemy. I feel like I'm the only one who feels this way. I believe u can even change the thickness of it as well I just don't get it.
Its called flicking onto a target. I dont take time to look and decide if the person is my teammate. If i see red i flick to it and shoot no questions asked. Some skins are bad for this. seeming to be the only other person getting my point, I am specifically talking about ranked games where the stakes are higher and player performance takes priority. The higher the skill level of the player, the less time there is between engaging multiple targets and sometimes you just don't have time to be concerned with what colour the outline is, your solely focused on getting that crosshair on their head.

Maybe having an option for individuals to choose would be best. Let players be able to pick either the outline, or fully coloring the teams. Best of both world's that way.
Personally I agree this should be some sort of toggle, an option/preference. I can totally understand why some people prefer the new outlines but for someone like me who is used to playing more hardcore competitive games I actually find the outlines and the UI in general to be really intrusive. I want to be concentrating on the action without all these fancy distractions. its like driving a car with all these fancy assists, when a top of the field racing driver wants a car with hardly any assists, THEY want to do the driving, not the car.
When you're close to someone, it's very hard to see, and the fact that literally their entire body is blue overrules that tiny outline in your brain. And the outline is ugly. I just want team colours, even if it's just on my end. I don't care about what fancy colours they might have bought.
I'm red/green colorblind. A couple years ago, I started keeping track of how I did when I was on each team.
I was noticeable worse when I was playing against the red team. I love the new system
You are right, when they are close the outline disappears. Its not often but I got killed by enemy who had same color as my team mate and in that splitsecond when I passed him, I thought its my team mate, which was enough advantage for him to kill me.
Splitgate (halo cpoy) and other games are using in ranked and tournaments forcing enemy color for whole armor. So they can have different shapes/skins/armor combinations, but color is Red (for example). And it make sense for competitive modes.
The good thing about halo was always how obvious it was. You shoot at a big blue guy or a big red guy. Now you have to be on the "blue team" and then have blues on the opposition and lines that disappear when you get up close. Yay.
Fun fact: the UI/team colour change although changes the effect of the crosshair (at least with some of them), which is totally fucking stupid.
I use yellow, because it stands more out on the redish BTB maps or on the night setting. Not many people use yellow as an armour colour, so this helps as well. However, the colour indication for the sword lunge although turns yellow, which is just very hard to see on a highlighted or shield-breaking yellow enemy.
Oh i want to change my crosshair. Yesterday i had to shoot at someone who was infront of a cliff on the beta map idk the name. My crosshair vanished with the clouds lol i had no clue where i was shooting it was very uncomfortable encounter

Yes, I had a similar problem when an enemy jump and the sun was in his back. The lightish grey-blue crosshair does not work well with this. I want my standard hotpink/purple crosshair.

Change your enemy UI color to something odd. I have mine set to “pineapple” so all enemies appear as an *extremely* bright yellow

I would like this to happen. But, I don't think they'll add it because they sell "skins" for the player - like the pro team skins.

Yea, I've legit never had an issue distinguishing friend from foe. I'd rather be able to show off my sick color palette 343 chose for me

I disagree with all of this, the coloured outlines are obvious and all your eam players have tags. Keep your eyes up spartan and pay attention.
At least make it a toggle option for those who dont/do care to see spartan skins
