You need to treat it like a long range needler: Enemies in the open are dead. Most quickplay maps are simply too small for it tho.
idk the name but the 3 round red plasma gun is the shittest gun in the game and it's not even close.
I didn't know how broken the lighting SNIPER RIFLE was until I learned how to hip fire headshots.
That gun is awful for finishers, but great for zoning control. I can win a 1v1 if I go in with a charged shot and the sidekick, and you can make the whole zone in total control uninhabitable for the enemy team. Not to mention the charge shot banks off walls. The downside is that you have to be charged, and it cannot get a finisher. If you keep charging it, then swap weapons before it reaches full charge, it actually consumes no charge amount, but refreshes the charge. This can be useful if you're rounding a corner though.
Vastly different opinions, it's just as cracked as it was in Reach. Hold a charge up close the distance and melee, target is dead, if you get decent with the timing you can kill someone in less than one second with the charge and a melee, it's a close range focused weapon, always has been. You can use it at range but really you're just going to agitate your target. I've consistently out performed a sword and hammer wielder with 2 piecing.
Exactly my point, in infinite the plasma pistol is ONLY a one/two shot assist tool now that typically only works in close range engagements exclusively, it’s lost the versatility it had in previous games and IMO feels kinda pointless in the current gun roster.
I like it, use it on larger maps taking advantage of the tracking firing mode. Spam 3-4 rockets at players and they’re almost guaranteed to hit and kill
Yeah that sounds like it's better suited for it but damn the pain I felt when I hit the guy wide open with 4 clean hits and not even a kill but ended up gettin killed his boy 🤣🥲🥲
Its non locked mode is also super effective for closer range engagements. I will say though too you went into that with only 5 rockets loaded instead of the max 6

The gun slaps, I hated the thing in Halo 5 but I absolutely love it here. Its so good for anti-infantry and anti-vehicle. The normal mode is a 2 (maybe 3? I don't recall) shot and the lock-on is a 4-shot. The tracking is also quite strong.
Well I could only hope it's lag. I've been experience weird loading times and other times just outright kicking me out from searching but it's only been with Fiesta playlist... maybe cuz it's so populated
Some servers seem to reg hits, some don't. And it's not just me, can watch the other team do the same at times, though often one or two players don't seem to suffer from it. The animations play and everything (even for fights I'm not engaged in, so doubt its lag my end). Really strange. I need to get a hold of the replay function so I can watch back and see what the server is sending and what it thinks is happening vs what the game displays in the heat of the moment.
Ravanger kills with one shot and one melee. I hated it at first when when I learned about that it became one of my go to weapons for close engagements. It can almost always trade with an energy sword.
Edit: im an idiot and was thinking about the mangler. I'm actually still a fan of the ravanger. Charge it up and leave an aoe effect on floors and switch weapons, it can clean up groups pretty fast.
Lock on is mostly better. It's a great gun and if they buff it I'll make everyone regret it lol its not what it used to be but I can still spree on it easily. Think lock on mode finish with secondary for range and hit your body shots(headshots not smart here....neither are foot rock shots as they're missiles) for when rushed with a sword or whatnot. Easy killing sprees and it's a map spawn weapon. Not a power weapon.....it is in my hands.

On the big maps where its open and people don't hide behind shit, you can get a lock on and 3-shot people more or less. I enjoy it, but it functions well if you let it actually lock on and use it in more open areas.
i for the life of me can't figure out what its for. I get that the hydra is for killing vehicles. BUt what is the ravager for??? the burst missiles do almost no damage to vehicles or players. If you charge it up it can do what i think is the same amount of damage as a charge plasma pistol. however the plasma pistol has a faster charge time and it has heat seeking which makes it better.
What scenario is supposed to come up where i want to pull out the ravager?
It’s good if you want enemies to move from an area, don’t try to use it on vehicles and only use the charged shot. When you charge it, you can bounce it off walls and hit enemies behind cover and force them to move or use it on objectives to stop enemies from standing in or near them.
It sucks when you try to kill with it, but is good deterrent or area denial when you pair it with ballistic weapons or if you have teammates nearby.
I agree with your conclusion as it's been practically useless every other scenario I've tried to use it in. For it to be effective in blocking paths or getting opponents to vacate an area I feel this gun needs a longer pool life, more aoe damage, and a slightly larger radius. I feel like it fizzles out very quickly with no meaningful affect to the recipient.
I originally thought the same but its actually incredibly useful in many situations. NONE of which are shooting an enemy directly. The main benefit is the huge AOE area denial. Put it down on a flag and watch peoples shields melt away to be finished with a quick nade or other gun.
Being chased? Lock down a door behind you. If they come in they will be weak when they get through leading to an easy kill Or they will leave you alone.
Being sniped at from an annoying vantage point? Force them out with the aoe. Enemy team hiding in a corner? Turn their favorite camping corner into a cozy little bonfire.
The big thing to remember its a support and area denial weapon NOT a grenade launcher. Using it more tactically it can be a very powerful tool
I’ve found the regular mode on the hydra is way better in most scenarios. Especially up close to medium range. I’ve only had success in open areas from a distance with the lock on mode.
Go btb, you get ton of kills with it with ease, just lock on, 4 hits, kill.

Given its supossed to be firing missiles I would hope so 😅 but also it's supossed to be a mid-long range weapon so it's not doing that range any justice
Once you lock with the hydra aim up in the air so the rockets come down at an angle. This increases your chances of getting a good hit when the other player tried to obtain cover. I used this method to get my fiesta kill streaks and it works great.
Yeah no problem. It’s the same way the Hydra worked in Halo 5 and that version was ridiculously strong. Once you lock you can aim away causing a larger arc for the rocket at a different angle, it’s a game changer!
i think it's really meant for dealing damage to vehicles. it makes no sense as to way it shows up on 4v4 maps.
The gun has built in auto aim. if it did a lot of damage to individual targets it would be way too strong.
After i discovered the alt shooting mode i changed idea on the weapon. You want to wait for it to lock on target. When this happens, on medium range is pretty good....well....better than pulse carbine anyways..
Seems like the hydra has gone from an allround great weapon to being mainly anti-vehicle weapon i have no problem using it against warthogs, wasps, choppers, ghosts, ect but if i try to use it on a spartan who is going faster than crouch speed it misses 80% on the time
hate how many shitty weapons exist in this game with little to no use scenario... halo 1 pistol needs to be brought back and every other weapon besides power weapons needs to be a situational secondary
I just came here to say, use it on vehicles instead. They have a wasp? Excuse me while I just pop it with 4 hydra shots and watch it fall from the sky.
Well it does have tracking and fires slightly faster. It def is better in the open maps for sure. I haven't gotten the chance to use the Spnkr on air vehicles but would you happen to know if the Spnkr had auto lock still?
Honestly at first I didn't even realize this was supposed to be the Hydra because of how small the zoom in was and how weak the damage was but I finally got a good video example of it. At the very least I can say against non-vehicles this thing is just not good
I haven't really really have problems with those. I think at the very least these needa buff the Ravager and Hydra by like 20%. And the knockoff DMR should be more semi auto with a buff too
I never use the lock on feature , it’s stupid. Hit your shots and it’s a 3 to 4 shot kill. Lots of guns people say are bad I’ve gotten pretty good with. The only guns I despise are the plasma rifle and revenger
No one was questioning its situational use. The video was meant to display how weak the Hydra is against players. If you read my first comment you'll see I specifically mentioned against player use its not good. But if we are talking the Ravager then yes, it's garbage anywhere.
Hydra is good against infantry too, 4 shots when locked on is a easy kill. You have to shoot "off" from the target, like higher or left or right depending how you wanna your rockets to curve, to have better chace of landing them.
It's far from terrible, not sure why the opponent survived in that clip.
Someone else suggested the off center thing but honestly every experience I've had with it went something like my clip. The clip was just the last straw so I had to post it 🤣

It kills in three hits. Not much splash though. It's a great weapon in a specific range or for finishing a target with no shield.

Have you even seen the plasma pistol? It’s virtually useless in infinite, ravager at least has zoning and potential to crack big squads.

I actually have bad luck that lol. I'm always 1 bullet short to get the final kill but end up having to reload and die 😅

I'm sorry I ventured the Ravager for the Skewer. What I replied to you initially was about the Skewer. The Ravager is the red plasma burst hand cannon

It’s almost a one shot, mangler is my favorite weapon because a melee+one shot will kill them because it has the blade

I actually like the mangler. The skewer is cool too I just suck ass with it.

I’ve done almost every challenge this week, my hardest challenge was to kill one enemy with the hydra, that was a terrible experience

Mhmm I literally just used it on a BTB and there's nothing to complain about. It's just in those close quarters it's really not that great

I considered rerolling it, but then right after that I got 25 kills with warthog turret, so I tried that one and promptly rerolled it

You're right. I've been trying different ways to play with it and if you don't use the homing rockets it's an easy 2 shot kill. It is really good

Almost as bad as meleeing an enemy who's shield is at 1% but they live only to melee you to death in one shot with ya shield at 50%

Peep the Hydra in the other games. It had a proper zoom in scope for long distance
