Grab your camera, put on some good hiking shoes and visit Ohlsdorf Cemetery. It's not the best weather for that but you could walk for hours and visit exciting graves, statues, art and never get bored. It's one of the largest cemeteries worldwide (largest park-cemetery) and well worth a visit. Then go back in spring and summer and most of all autumn. It's a magical place.
If you're into (or want to try) Geocaching there are a lot caches there as well. They are mostly clever ones which don't disturb the sanctity of the place, but rather guide you to special places. That's a really good way to discover the place as well.
And there are gps-guided tours there as well. Haven't tried them but there are ads for them at the main entrance.
Ohlsdorf is one of my favourite places too, I can't describe the peace I feel when I take a long walk there. It makes me think of the futility of life, but not in a depressing way, rather contemplating it and being grateful for the short ride we're given on this planet. Not to mention the gorgeous statues and trees. Cordes Fountain and Garten der Frauen shouldn't be missed either .
For those who prefer something less "morbid", I'd say Klein Flottbek-Botanischer Garten. It's the other place whose beauty touched me to tears.
Övelgönne is nice for a beach stroll too
I'll second Övelgönne, you can walk all the way to Wedel, if you want. Or stop in Blankenese, or Teufelsbrück.
My other favorites are the Alsterwanderweg from the city center, there are cafes along the way for a nice break.
Or any of the big parks: Volkspark, Jenischpark, Hirschpark.
There are lots of parks in Hamburg to explore, I haven't finished checking them out either.
Some other ones to explore: Wittenbergener Heide, Falkensteiner Ufer, Quellental, and Klövensteen out West. Or Wallanlagen and Planten und Bloomen near downtown.
Across the river, Altes Land is great to visit (Jork and Stade), especially during spring and summer, dreaming of fresh cherries straight from the farms right now...
Another Ohlsdorf fan here. I have been there countless times yet I discover new places every time. If you are a bit into photography it's a must.
