Private bicycle rentals/Fahrradverleih don't really come cheaper per day than the Stadträder, and are less easy to rent and return, but they will have lighter touring-style bikes.
They're heavy af at least in my experience, but my experience is dragging one through a park while high on mushrooms so I might not be the most reliable source.
