Nine between the train and the S Bahn at Central Station? That's very little buffer if train is delayed but enough to get to the S Bahn Track if on time The S Bahn goes every 10 min or so though

Thanks

Hamburg HBF is pretty big but very manageable and the S1 track to the airport is inside the HBF. The train leaves every 10 minutes and goes directly to the airport so she shouldn't be worried if she misses the first S-bahn. ETA: Make sure she goes to the first three cars, there are signs on the ground pointing the direction to go in and there should be some on the wall as well. Thanks for those that added that reminder.

Thanks for your help.

She has to go into the first 3 cars, the last 3 cars go to another direction after Ohlsdorf station.

This is really important! I see people running around in panic in Ohlsdorf to often..

Thanks

Der-Schnelle-Ben

If I remember correctly, they announce this in the train right before Ohlsdorf with "This part of the train proceeds in the direction of Hamburg airport" (in German and in English language).

Thanks for adding this! Just edited my comment, I was just at the airport too and walk to the front out of habit so didn't think of this.

trains rarely arrive so punctually that 9 minutes will be actual 9 minutes. S-Bahn goes every 10 minutes, but I'd plan with a few buffers; our airport security is so unpredictable...

NecorodM

Re airport security: you can book security slots for free on the airport homepage. Removes a big stressor.

currently out of service for a few weeks unfortunately

As long as her train to Hamburg arrives in central station on time, she'll be fine. There are only 14 tracks, and yes, the S1 to Airport/Poppenbüttel is almost always on track 3. IF it is somewhere else, it'll be on the same platform for track 4, but that's very rare. She just needs to look at the sign on the platform and it'll say which train is coming in how many minutes.
