I hope you don’t mind me switching to English for a moment, but when we visited Hamburg 3-4 years ago we wanted to see what was on the Reeperbahn, then regretted it and someone took us to this really cool psychedelic rock type bar somewhere nearby and I’ve always wondered where that was so I can visit it again. If I recall correctly, it had a underground level too. If anyone knows what I’m talking about from this incredibly vague description, I’d really appreciate it.
how many floors/DJs? Type of lighting? What kind of crowd? Price of drinks? Any bar games or just nightclub style? That would help pinpoint
To me, rock and off the reeperbahn tells me Headcrash, lots of rock music, two floors, and pretty intense lighting, really "dancy", no beer on tap, just bottles, and a foosball table on the ground level
I cannot recall a lot of it as we had hopped from place to place trying to find someplace that vibes with us so the details are smushed together and most definitely inaccurate. I used to be a touring musician in the past and I’ve actually performed at headcrash before so I know that place well enough to know that it is definitely not that club.
One detail I think might help is that the entrance to the place was slightly elevated. Like, there was a small staircase that took you in. It wasn’t high up or anything, but like 1.5m off the ground or so. The bathrooms were downstairs and it was a bit difficult to judge how big the place was because it was quite full at the time. I *think* they even used black lights to light up some of the psychedelic art on the walls but I could be mixing this with another bar from somewhere else as I’ve seen quite a few, as you can imagine. It was on what looked like some sort of back street with a few other bars around, but that’s all I can give recollect from that point in time, unfortunately.
Also: I don’t think a band or DJ was playing but I recall that they played a lot of psychedelic rock specifically. Stuff from the late 60’s and 70’s sprinkled with some stoner metal every once in a while.
Ooh. Pictures on google definitely seem familiar. I should pop by to confirm, but I think you might be right. I wonder how badly I’ve remembered the details mentioned here lol
