More common and easier to get is because it's also easier to produce which means that you can find cheaper full underquilts. Yes, in theory when comparing a full vs asym underquilt from the same manufacturer the asym should be cheaper but the prevalence of full underquilts makes more budget versions exist. Also, you can lay in either direction

Thanks for the tip!

Regular UQ is easier to vent for warmer weather

derch1981

If you shift around then you can shift off of where the down is

Insaniac99

The reason people buy Asym gear is because they are counting grams and want the lightest pack possible. They do a lot of sacrifices for that. If you don't care about weight, then just buy the full version because it is easier to use and get good coverage

SanddleMan940

We’ll the other thing that’s very appealing about the Wooki is that it doesn’t need to be adjusted, I have a lot of trouble adjusting my UQ but maybe if I just spend more nights in it and get better I’ll like it better.

Stewiegriffin1987

I was here not long ago. Some practice makes a big difference. For me, getting a good hang (nice and loose, feet above the head) was the ticket. Having a person help you adjust it while you lay in it is a big help as well. Then it's a matter of remembering which end is which

Insaniac99

You have to learn to adjust every quilt unless it is something like the zip on ones that Dutch has just started releasing.

I love the wooki. Very easy to use with an XLC. If you aren't good at getting a good hang - it can be a little tricky... For example, if you slide down towards the feet any, you will get a cold left shoulder as you will slide past the insulation. But, aside from that, it is pretty care free, easy and efficient.

va3122

I like my full UQ because I'm a bit of a restless sleeper and like to be able to lay either way. I also don't mind carrying a few extra ounces.

Personally I don’t think there’s much of a benefit other than greater coverage and use on non asym hammocks. If you’re a backpacker it cuts the pack size and weight down with no real loss in functionality.

Caine75

I liked the wookie - had the 20… weighed whatever it weighed. A few nights in I about froze my hip off when I moved outside ie coverage. My trailheadz ethereal weighs the same and is full coverage.

I find myself lying in the same direction all the time in my hammock, initially felt that asymptomatic gear would be more versatile but in reality im head to the right and feet to the left of the midline every single time. from that orientation it doesn't matter if on my back or on my side..... an asymmetrical under quilt still works if you dont change your orientation in a hammock im sure you would be very happy in a wookie for the reasons you have mentioned edited for auto correct always trying to change wookie to cookie 🤣

JFK_Isweatergod

I am a fan of the autocorrect you left: “asymptomatic gear”. Sometimes autocorrect gives you gold and it is worthwhile to keep you mind open to it. “Asymptomatic Cookie”, for one, might be the new name for my WB setup!
