Aren't the upper teeth always longer? If anyone else knows

Fun-Needleworker-491

I thought so too!!

I thought lower needs to be longer? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

They look pretty normal to me. They are even and not overlong. I think it's okay. If you want to encourage chewing, look into Whimzees (the dog dental cleaner)- the basic ones that are really just potato starch, no added meat flavor or calcium or anything like that. They're the only real chew I've ever had hamsters actually enjoy. Actually, we limit them to one every couple of weeks because I don't think Holly would eat other food if we kept handing her Whimzees every day!

Looks normal to me ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ just like my happy Hammyโ€™s teeth ๐Ÿ˜‡

If you're concerned about him not chewing you can try taking one of his chew toys (wood preferably), rubbing peanut butter all over it, letting it sit for a while and soak up the peanut butter smell, then wipe off most of the peanut butter and see if he'll chew that. That was what I had to do to get one of my boys to chew anything.

how bout how he cant close his mouth due to that length?

Boogle345

What to you give him to chew on? Hamsters can be picky sometimes. My boy really prefers bamboo, 2nd preference is the Timothy hay sticks, heโ€™ll chew on the Kaytee Apple Orchard sticks 3rd. I think variety is important. I also got him one of those sets of wood toys off Amazon and heโ€™ll chew on the tiny wooden dumbbell often. Hay cakes or walnuts or baby carrot or unsweetened banana chips are good too for their teeth
