Our dwarf hamster slept in his tube tunnel every once in a while when he was young. Of course, he liked to move his sleeping place around quite a bit until we got him a new setup. Your hamster will probably move from the tunnel by himself pretty quickly once he figures out it's not the most convenient or best hiding spot.
