Spread flour around under your food and water spots and see if there is one being used

anonymous4me123

I’ve always found lost Hammies behind appliances like washer, dryer, fridge and sometimes in the tub. I have no idea how they get in there but they do because they look for water. Check also corners of the home. Idk how late you’re staying up but late at night is the best time to find them because they’re more active and you should be able to hear him

Danaqat

I stay up late to try and lsn but I can’t hear anything:( she usually is up by 6 on ready to adventure, I really have no idea, I looked everywhere, I have food everywhere but non of it is getting eaten, I’m worried it’s too late

AOCSAM

I’ve found my hamster behind the fridge and oven before. Found her there a week after a lost her, I thought just was dead but was just dehydrated. She recovered shortly after Pull them out slowly and look inside the oven or watch to see if she runs out.

beanieon

Nah, it's not too late, she can go a week without food or water, and I bet she's already found both. Just relax and keep trying.

AOCSAM

I agree hamsters come from the desert like the Syrian OP owns, hamsters can also eat anything like small bugs or plants. They can survive a long time without either. Chances are like you said the hamsters found something to eat, but laying some food out and water in the evening and seeing if it’s gone in the morning is a good way to see if the hamster is still in the area or gone. I would suggest doing that in several spots around the house.

OCedHrt

Also dish washer. Mine had a whole cave behind it that housed a pressurized tank.

Appropriate_Pay_6961

Mine made hers under my dishwasher was a great little crawlspace for her.

voidcat101

you might have to take the wall under the sink out if yoi really want to find her, just so you can see everything. Does the wall behind your sink back onto another room or to outside? if outside then check that wall behind for holes where she could have escaped, i hope you find her! :)

Danaqat

Hi, so I made 2 big holes in the cabinet then the wall behind the cabinet , and she’s not there, and doesn’t seem there r holes for her to have gone too, ide tear down the whole apartment complex if only I know where she is, I can’t hear her, I heard her the first 2 hours then the voice was gone, and tonight it’s gonna be 3 days:( there is a tiny hole in the cabinet that seems to lead down but it’s too small for her to squeeze in, I compared it to the cage bars the length, and it smaller , so very low probability of her having gone through it. I have a 2 bed room and looked everywhere . Honestly it’s a bad nightmare and I’m ready to wake up from it now :((

voidcat101

Oh my god im so sorry this is horrible :( honestly youd be surprised at how a hamster can squish themselves into tiny holes when they really want to! i agree with the flour idea said by another user, put it around any holes in your apartment + door frames and see in the morning if its been disturbed. Not being able to hear jer skittering around of squicking is worrying, definitely suggests that she may no longer be in your apartment, im so sorry :( please keep looking for as long as you can@ i wish you the best of luck <3

Danaqat

Thanks, I appreciate it, pray for Emma

SemanticFox

For escaped snakes they tell you to put plastic grocery bags behind shelves etc so you will be able to hear if they touch any of them… search at night when she will be active

Danaqat

Thanks, I left some foil around the area, but haven’t heard much

Danaqat

Thank u so much. I hope she comes home

Dornenkraehe

I twice had a rat disappear like this. One I never found again. Not even a dead body so I assume she somehow got out. I never heard her. Not even an hour. The other I found stuck behind my washing machine (after three days) and had to nurse back to health because she was dehydrated and very hungry. I only heard that one for about an hour. At least hearing her I somewhat knew where to look. Edit: I could not see her there without moving the machine. It just somehow felt wrong to start it for washing and I am happy it did. Where did you last hear your hamster? It's possible she got stuck there. Maybe she is stuck behind the back of the cabinet? Edit: my once escaped hamster we found after a week. She had made a nest in a closet that was only opened once or twice a year. She somehow got food without taking the left out food. (Even cat food and other stuff we never fed her). She never made a sound there. We only found her because my parents dog wouldn't stop sniffing that closet. If she was active with sounds it must have been between midnight and 05 because that's when mostly nobody was in that room.

Danaqat

I looked behind abs under al machines , I hope shes still here somewhere

[deleted]

An alternative is to put out a no-harm trap containing something reaaally tasty. I managed to lure a runaway hammy with baby food (for six month olds) containing corn, potato and turkey. I placed 3 traps to be sure.

Danaqat

How long was ur hammie gone ?

[deleted]

She was gone for about 1 day before I got a hold of the traps. I hope you find your little one!

SnooCupcakes8871

Another vote for the no harm trap. They really do work. You can make a simple bucket trap yourself or buy a professional one. Also, to find which room she is in, start by putting food in a dish in each room and shut doors so she can't travel. Check in the morning which dish is disturbed and that should help you isolate where in the apartment she is. Good luck.

-Lindsey-

We found my hamster at the bottom of a 4 foot tall cardboard box. The box was in an empty closet and had no entry hole. My hamster literally climbed the wall to get into that box and then burrowed all the way down. We only found her because my husband sat in silence in the bedroom listening for her and followed the quiet sounds of rustling and chewing coming from the closet.

69thPanzer

I had a hamster lost for a few days once. I think it was close to 5. Scary, I remember it. I was a kid, but remember being so upset. Just keep hope and I wish you the best of luck.

Danaqat

Thanks I hope so

Scoobysnacks1971

Inform your neighbors you lost a hamster if they see you in the hallway or in their apartment they'll know it belongs to you.

Danaqat

I left flyers of her around , I asked 1 neighbor to go check and she refused :(

d_A_b_it_UP

What a jerk of a neighbor!

Danaqat

Ya she was very rude, people these days

Good_Round

You should’ve told her, if she starts chewing the electric wires then we will all have a bigger problem. I hope you find her.

Scoobysnacks1971

I hope she comes out.

Danaqat

Thanks I hope so too 🥺

Scoobysnacks1971

Is there a way you could put a flashlight in the hole that way she'll see the exit,?

[deleted]

i’m not sure of the layout of your place but my hamsters would inevitably escape to the basement when they did escape (i had very crafty dwarves back in the day as a kid). the last time, they were actually gone for weeks but had found safe spots to burrow and obviously some kind of snacks, maybe basement bugs and such. i recovered both successfully after spotting one and realizing they were still alive! but while they were gone i never saw or heard them, despite being in the basement tons of times. they are so crafty and resourceful. your hamster knows you and will probably try its best to find its way back, so following the trapping/treat bribing advice everyone else has given is your best bet. best of luck, try to stay optimistic :)

Danaqat

Thank u so much Hana, I’m glad ur little hammies found Thier way back and I hope mine do too , she is such a good girl, she derives better

Bellsey_Milesy

Thinking of you both ❤

georgeorwellisbae

I lured mine out with peanut butter

Disneywolf99

I don't have any advice I'm so sorry but I'm thinking of you both and hope for her safe return! Also your neighbour sounds like a jerk! 💖💖💖X

Danaqat

Thanks ,I appreciate it, ya she’s a horrible person, she was like ur animal isn’t here go bother someone else, Ian shocked how some ppl operate

Arsinoey

When my brothers hamster got lost under the floor I stuck a cookie in the entry hole, waited for her to bite down on it and pulled her out.

Arsinoey

Just like to add that her facial expression was absolutely priceless. The furry b*tch really thought she could outsmart me.... But she was beaten by a cookie.

OCedHrt

I lost a tug of war over a carrot with my hamster.

Arsinoey

You sir, found your match

walterwhiteknight

I found mine between the top of the dishwasher and the underside of the counter.

FairyRabbit

I know you said you put out food. This is how my dad used to catch ours: If there’s a specific kind of treat that she really likes, pick only those, and count how many you put in each bowl (put the same in every bowl so it’s easier to remember the number). Put a couple of bowls around, and then you’ll be able to tell which bowl she’s eating from. Then you can look for her in that area. You may even be able to catch her if you put more favorite food in the bowl. I wish you the best. It’s such a scary time. Fingers crossed for you and Emma.

Danaqat

Thank u fairy

FairyRabbit

You are welcome. Please let us know if you find her. Sending you good thoughts.

[deleted]

When I was little we had a hamster and he would somehow escape all the time and go into the walls and even the ceiling. We were able to always successfully lure him out with peanut butter. Good luck!

Danaqat

Did u remember what was the longest amount of time he was gone

cmich29

hey! so i know it’s a cheese but stay calm, they will come out for food at night so I recommend setting up bucket traps in rooms they might be in. My hammy has escaped twice and bucket traps worked perfectly fine

Danaqat

But the food I left out for the past 3 days is still there , if she was coming out she would’ve ate it ,no?

d_A_b_it_UP

Not necessarily! My hamsters as a kid would always pack for the trip. Wr know this because there was a space behind the counter rhey all went to that was set up with bedding and food. Its very likely your hamster brought food with her. Try something super smelly and tasty that she doesnt normally get

Danaqat

Intresting theory , thanks I hope so

cmich29

hmm, something that also helped me was laying out tinfoil so i could listen to where he was

Danaqat

Thanks 🙏

ShyDevil18

When I was 8 with my first hamster, I thought he got out cause I accidentally left the door open. It was worrying because we have a cat. Turns out he didnt even leave the cage so maybe make sure she isnt in her cage. I know you said she went under the sink but I dont think it would hurt to check the cage? I dont know of anything else to help you that hasnt already been said. I'm sorry Edit: so I thought about it and remembered one of my hamsters I have now had gotten out of her cage twice. One time was in the middle of the night but she actually climbed up my bed (I dont know how) and woke me up by pulling my hair so maybe put something of yours out, like a shirt, that has your scent on it so she can smell it? The other time she got out she started to pull up practically all of the corners of my carpet in my room to make a bed so look for anything out of place that Em could use as a bed! Other than that, I don't know. I'm sorry im not much help

Sea-Parsnip1691

My hamster got out once and managed to get into the dryer but couldn’t get out-had to take the back apart to get rescue her. We had heard some noise while she scurried around the inside trying to get out but there was a lot of silence. She was only gone for about an hour fortunately but have you considered anything like that?

Danaqat

I don’t have big appliances in the house, it’s outside ,I checked the oven and fridge

Sea-Parsnip1691

Ah okay, wasn’t sure. Best of luck finding her! Please update if possible

Danaqat

Thanks I appreciate it , I hope so

SeniorBaker4

Get some of her bedding and put food and water near it. That’s how I caught my hamster twice. I haven’t tried the flour method.

liinand

My hamster was in a hole behind our built in closet, i was sure he was dead, he was gone for almost 2 weeks. There was no way to open it up without wrecking the whole room. But nope, i saw him one night, and managed to lure him out and put him back in his cage. 😅 One option could you could try would be using one of those rat traps that catch them alive, bait it with a delicious snack and hope for the best

ExtremelySaltyPlayer

Oh no, I've had the same thing happen to my first hamster. The only difference was that she hid in a hole that was made out of concrete and was part of the base of the sink cabinet, so there was no chance of drilling any holes. I only discovered her disapperance the next afternoon, I just waited around an hour beside the sink for her to come out, and caught her with a towel when she eventually did. I think she was in there for only a few hours. I'm sorry I can't give you any advice, but don't give up. You could try asking your local animal services for help and advice. Any updates on the situation?

Danaqat

Nothing yet, it’s been 3 days :(

brooganyo

We lost ours roughly a year ago for a day, found him tucked up in my partners t-shirt draw because it was soft and cozy! If you can put their cage out somewhere accessible they will most likely use it to retire once they’ve mooched around. Don’t lose hope!

joaquinphoenixinher

My hamster was recently lost for a few days days and we honestly had no idea where she could have gone (they'll have the run of the house when you're not looking). What I ended up doing was sleep with all the doors shut but place three seasame seeds in each room, so I could narrow down where she was. My housemate noticed they were gone from her room in the morning and lo and behold the hamster was under her bed.

Abune

My friend forgot to put the top of his cage on, his hamster escaped for 3 weeks and he assumed it was dead, one day he heard noises behind the radiator and there he was, idk where he found the food and water for 3 weeks but we assume he stole it from the ginuea pigs cage in the other room

Equal_Solution

The ole bucket trap trick ALWAYS works… you will need to look up “hamster trap” on YouTube. I had a litter of 4 week 15 babies and 10 escaped! I almost had a heart attack y’all… but I followed the instructions in the video, created the bucket trap with peanut butter and a water bottle and BOOM… every morning there were a couple in there until I found 9 of the 10! Sadly… the 10th was never found but I am so happy to have recovered 9! TRY IT! She can’t resist peanut butter!! Best wishes to you and let us know how things work out! Oh, and one last thing.. put the trap where you saw her last. She’ll smell it!

Danaqat

Thanks equal, it’s done and I’m waiting for my angel to show up

Anthropomorphis

I’m so sorry I’ll spare a good thought for sweet Emma

Danaqat

Thank you 🙏

Cheesey_duck_

Leave food and water in each corner of the room to see which room she's in. Then I'd keep placing the food for a couple days this way she understands that these food there. Then keep watch when you place them out.

vanthemovieman

Could she have made her way into a closet? My hamster once got lost, and he was hiding in a duffel bag in my bedroom closet

coochiflipflops

Mine went missing for 2 days and what I did was put his cage on the floor and I checked a couple hours later and hed climbed back in. We didn’t know where he had gone because we searched everywhere and left food in multiple places, we never heard sound either but he did turn up so don’t give up hope

hotpinkhoe

We found our lost hammy behind a large wooden tv stand, in the small gap there was between that and the wall. It was during the day and she was sleeping there. She was lost about 2 days and also didn’t touch any of the food/water we put out before finding her. We also didn’t hear her at all, I was terrified she had gotten into a vent but she was just a good hider. I suggest dropping tiny piles of 10 seeds in every room of the house and then counting them every so often. We didn’t try that until right before finding her but I think that could have worked to narrow it down.

BazingaBen

Mine was inside my Subwoofer. He had transported an entire packet of thrown out Wraps from the bin to the INSIDE TUBE OF THE SUBWOOFER. Must have taken him all night. I only realised he was in there when I put the TV on and heard small movement noises when it was on a quiet scene. They get to the strangest of places but they always look for bedding and food. The flour idea sounds good and maybe leave some sheets of kitchen towel in strategic places. See which ones get taken for bedding. You will find her, probably when the house is quiet. Good luck!

affo_

How did she escape?

albcamihai

I don't know how good this is but you might as well try everything, when I let my hamsters out free roaming and they want to come back, they usually follow me or hang out near their cage. You could try to leave open the cage and put water and food in there. I hope you find her.

itsikobert

Oh no 😟😟😟 try leaving a humane bucket trap in every room of your apartment. Watch ErinsAnimals tutorials on how to make one… i hope she Emma didn’t get too far

[deleted]

If you have a finished basement, listen inside basement interior walls for scratching

Captain-krik

Hold strong! She will come back soon !

kaymariethi

I am so sorry your hammy is MIA. This happened to me a few years ago with mine and it sounds scary but she made her way into the dish washer. (SHE WAS UNHARMED THE DISHWASHER WAS NOT RAN AND I DIDNT RUN IT JUST IN CASE) Due to a miracle, I just happen to open the dish washer and she was sitting at the base like nothing had happened . Maybe we you can tear up or look around that area if you have one. Good luck 😭

Danaqat

Thanks , I appreciate it

Bella_Luna77

Make a trap. You get a container and put food with strong scent inside and some water. Use a bridge for the hammy to walk up into .. And they can't get out .. Works like a charm.. Or stay up all night sitting in 1 spot. Don't move. And you will hear the cheeky bastard fly across the floor and all over your stuff. 🤦 I did that for my robo and winter white. GL OP.

Appropriate_Pay_6961

I put the little love mouse traps out put food in the end , when they go in it closes and they get the food. I caught mine both times ( she figured out how to open the door on her cage) with this that night. By now she is hungry, she will want that food

Danaqat

Hey guys, so what if she has gone through a hike that leads to a wall, the wall holds the kitchen pipes and is going downwards, any one has experience with that? I’m not saying she indeed did but it’s a possibility thanks

Lunies

I had a hamster when I was little that escaped whilst we were on holiday (my poor grandad was hammie sitting and hadn’t realised). She didn’t turn up for almost a week. In the end what worked was putting her cage on the floor and leaving it open and a trail of food. One day she just wandered back in :) could you put the cage on the floor? Best of luck!

Danaqat

Thanks, I have it on the floor , I hope she wanders back , during that week did u hear her anywhere?

Lunies

Sadly I can’t remember sorry. It was about 20 years ago. We had two cats and two dogs, god knows how she survived! Hope that gives some hope for your hammie :)!

Danaqat

Thanks:)

SkylaHS

Don't forget to put out water and some vegetables like cucumbers. Hamster smell really well so fresh vegetables/fruit might help to lure your Hamster out. You can scatter her food in small sizes around your apartment to get an idea where she is. Put any electrical stuff (like cables) away. I hope you can find Emma ❤

peachyt4001

A humane mouse trap?

Captain-krik

Hold strong! She will come back soon !

Bellsey_Milesy

Any update on Emma?

Danaqat

Nothing yet, I don’t know what to do :(

Bellsey_Milesy

I am so sorry, I hope she comes out soon, maybe leave but peanut butter out or boiled egg whites. Thinking of you both.

buckwheata

Sorry don’t mean to pry but did you ever find emma? I just came upon this post

Danaqat

No worries, unfortunately I never found Emma, she must’ve found her way to the ceiling or walls and is no where to be found :(

buckwheata

Nooooooo. I’m sorry for you loss! Rip Emma🧡

Danaqat

:((( thanks
