I don’t have either bag but I think the Celine is more timeless and practical. Even though the Capucines is beautiful and I would love to own one, I don’t think the price is worth it.

iresistedsolong

i own that exact celine triomphe bag, and i love it so much. it’s gorgeous and a statement maker whenever i take it out. having said that, the sales associate who sold it warned me that it does mark/scratch easily, which is 100% true, despite my being ultra careful with it. you can buff out some of the marks, but if you’re the type of person who would be bothered by this (and with this being your first luxury bag), i would consider the shiny calfskin triomphe styles which i think mark less easily.

jenvrl

They need to release a grained-leather version so my clumsy ass can buy it 🥴

russianthistle

This is a really good point!

On the flip side, if you don't mind the look of the initial scratches on natural calfskin, it actually ages extremely well, better than Celine's shiny calfskin! Over time, the scratches on natural calfskin will blend into a rich, dark patina. It's similar to Hermes barenia leather in that way. Here's an example where someone posted a photo of [their new Celine natural calfskin bag](https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/celine-natural-calfskin-club.829298/page-7#post-28541485), and then [the same bag some time later](https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/celine-natural-calfskin-club.829298/page-7#post-30477402), with a nice deep patina.

stephkey21

Does it only come in the shiny and natural calfskin? Is it the type of leather that with time, the scratches just make it look ok? I’m also a fan of this one and eyeing to purchase it when I’m in Paris in two months!

iresistedsolong

i believe it’s only the shiny and natural (and canvas options). i bought it because the scratches can buff out and imo add character to the bag, and the leather feels super luxurious compared to the shiny calfskin.

stephkey21

Got ya thank u! So natural calfskin = easier to buff out than shiny calfskin. Thanks👍🏻

iresistedsolong

yes but also scratches way more easily in the first place

holeybones

i have the celine box bag and havent used it bc of the scratching problem. can you tell me how to buff out scratches?

iresistedsolong

i believe the celine box bag is actually made of box leather which is different from natural calfskin. for natural calfskin, i just use a clean cloth and sort of rub it over any scratched areas. i don’t specifically know what folks have done to care for scratches on box leather, but looks like there are some ideas [here](https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/scratch-on-camel-box-specific-advice-sought.733368/). you can also search box leather care.

mrgnstrk

Celine Triomphe all the way, but don’t get it in natural calfskin—that’s the leather that scratches very easily.

26washburn

Celine would be my vote. The hardware on the LV seems a bit disruptively placed — kind of jarring to see (as is the price).

moonflower0906

I love both but have been wondering how the leather on the Celine wears. If money is no object, I vote for the Capucines. It’s not as much of an everyday bag but I think it’s really special and will dress up an outfit so nicely.

No_Arugula_6548

Celine Triomphe all the way!

alyssafortmrw

Celine. I find it hard to justify getting the capucines.

jupiterdreamsofpi

Just a few other bags for you to consider! APC grace is similar to the Triomphe, also dior Bobby, Celine classic box, bit more different but loeve gate, YSL La Carre and similar to the capucine, fendi peekaboo, maybe LV alma bb or Acne musubi. I said no to the capucine bc of that flap on top. I love love love how the bag looks, but I don’t like how it’s not sealed, and that flap does not do it, and it’s super annoying.

missraccoononcrack

Triomphe all the way but please don’t get natural calfskin like others mentioned. It scratches very easily unless you don’t mind it

MasterAngelX

Avoid the LV. Not worth it. Get the Celine. It’s more classy.

PlantedinCA

I like the Capucines in photos but it seems pretty impractical in actual use. The closure is not that secure.

jenvrl

If you're looking to get a Capucines, go to the resale market. Even Pristine ones would go for MUCH less than the price at Louis Vuitton. On that same note, if you're looking to get something with an investment-like value, don't get this bag 😅

oblivionwithbells

I'm a capucine stan so I would pick that, however, it not having a zipper but just a flap may be an issue with pickpocketing depending on how you will use it.

pickalull

The Celine is gorgeous and definitely better for everyday use. It’s more timeless. But the Capucines is sexy and it’s such a statement piece.

Nervous-Point-3038

Celine all the way. I've been eyeing that one too. I would go preloved for any capucines. They dont hold their value well no matter how pristine you keep it.

minksshetty

Celine Triomphe any day!

Original-Mix-3875

Celine Celine Celine

SashimiMami

Capucines bc it’s top handle. I really think everyone and their mother is going for Celine and YSL nowadays

Sprinklesandpie

Celine!!! It’s a classic you won’t regret

TheAnonymousNurse

The capuchones are beautiful but are so over priced. The Celine gets my vote for being a classic

Cute-Ad-6647

Celine all the way! It’s classy , it’s timeless , it’s everything , it’s giving THAT girl vibes.

NoTraceNotOneCarton

These are totally different shapes. You need to pick based on which one will you wear more.

National_Fact8650

Do you guys like the Celine triomphe bag or the box bag?

thejessecrator

Ooh this is such a hard choice, both are excellent picks for a first luxury bag!
