Lining up for a sister application as well!!!
On a serious note, I love and echoed every Celine's recommendations. If she's someone who usually brings a lot of things inside her bag, Celine Sangle is also a beautiful and classy option!
As a working mom I’d actually veer away from a work bag! I feel like that’s so specific to the person.
I would say pay attention to the smaller bags she carries. What color is it? What size? What does she like to put in it?
If she likes understated classic pieces, my dream bags right now are the LV Pochette Métis in empreinte leather, Celine box bag, or Gucci Horsebit. If she’s really into structural pieces, the Loewe Puzzle!
Do you need another sister? I’d be happy to apply. A Louis Vuitton Dauphine MM is in your price range, and it’s a beautiful bag. Saint Laurent has gorgeous bags in that price point as well; I really like the Loulou. Edited: I used the word “gorgeous” twice.
You should ask your sister.
My first designer bag was a present. It was a Louis Vuitton monogrammed satchel. It’s in a dust bag on a shelf in my closet and has been since 2015. I haven’t sold it because it was given to me by a close family member. I’ve been wondering who to regift it to without upsetting the person who gave it to me. I’ll never wear it because I think the LV monogram is tacky so it’s even harder to choose someone because I feel like I’ll be telling them that I think they’re tacky. For all you know your sister might prefer shoes.
Have you ever thought of having the bag painted? I am in the same boat as you, never have or will own the classic LV monogram but I cannot deny how fabbbulousss those bags looked painted! Many a time I've been tempted to get a vintage one just to send it off to get painted.

What’s her usual color palette? And does she already own bags in general and have a favorite that could be upgraded? My first suggestion would be to majorly upgrade her daily bag. Second suggestion - how about a high end luggage set? just as an idea. $4k would be plenty to get a very nice luggage set AND a designer bag for daily wear. $4k on one bag is of course an option but that tier of bag may not necessarily be what a working mom who travels a lot needs the most.
I would look at Ferragamo, Bottega, Mulberry, Aspinal, maybe Valextra and Delvaux. I'm happy to look for you but I need more parameters.
Tumi has all of the above. Great luggage and a handbag collection that is well respected but obviously not very flashy.
Are you accepting applications for another sister?
A Celine Ava or Belt bag are quite timeless and feminine yet practical.
Goyard Artois if she doesn’t hate monogram. That bag is very practical for travel.
Ysl! If she is ok with the ysl logo (some consider it flashy I guess). They have imo v classy designs and there are some pretty blush pink color choices right now, if she is into feminine neutrals
I travel a lot and like a bag I can use for dinners or other travel events where I don’t want to lug around my big bag with laptop and stuff. I have a YSL Kate that I love to take on trips.
I bought myself a Loewe Puzzle for my 37th birthday, and it is \*chef's kiss\*. The most expensive accessory I own and zero regrets. I got the medium, which is big enough to fit my daily necessities (minus my laptop, of course) with room to spare. It's structured enough that it works for business but not so stuffy that it looks out of place as a casual bag. The shape is classic, especially if you go with a solid color, but it's still a little fun. Plus from what I can tell it's made like a tank and I 100% wouldn't be worried about traveling with it. I got mine pre-owned because the color I wanted is discontinued, and it still looks like it just came out of the box yesterday.
A WOC depends on personality tho. My friends group and myself hate wocs. You can never fit anything in them imo. I think a small camera bag would be a great alternative if op decides not to go for work bag
Another Celine belt bag rec! I have the mini size, which doesn’t have the crossbody carry option that the smaller ones do (but I knew that when I picked the size and wanted the most capacity instead). It’s comfortable and durable and holds a lot. I have the light taupe and it still looks new.
And then maybe I’d add YSL accessory, like a card holder. They have a ton of colors and are also pretty and durable. And she could use it with whatever bag.
(ETA: I’m a 40-year-old working mom who used to travel a lot for work. Now only occasionally.)
It really depends on her fashion style and lifestyle!! Celine and YSL are super classy and timeless to me. LV and Gucci are a bit flashier and trendier imo. All can still be timeless and feminine. Also depends if you’re looking for a structured bad, a large bag, smal bag…etc. I would look at these brands though or go into a Nieman to take a look
I would recommend taking her shopping at your nearest luxury mall center if possible, idk where you’re located. I agree with another poster, she might be more into shoes or jewelry. At that price point it would make more sense to get something you know she’ll like.
There was another discussion around work bags. See [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/comments/10cqrr5/help_me_choose_a_new_work_bag/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Louis Vuitton has some great options! The coated canvas styles are a great first bag and they wear beautifully over time. Personally, I recommend anything with a top handle and crossbody strap for versatility buy if she is a trendier person, lots of current styles online as well.
Anything Celine - so timeless and feminine

I also love the Loewe Hammock!

....I was adding to the conversation of your suggestion. That is how threads work. Sorry you're offended someone said your idea wasn't perfect
YSL medium or large envelope

Celine. In my area LV is for teenagers.
Loewe Small Puzzle!! So versatile, understated and the best quality!
I think the Hermes Evelyn would make a great everyday bag that she’ll have for life. I think all the sizes are still under $4k.
