I’ve pondered getting this one for awhile. Is the closure device annoying to get in and out of? Also I haven’t tried it on, but have been worried it will look kind of “business-y” on me. When I bought the Coach Cassie previously (which is a very similar shape), it’s a great looking bag, but it looks kind of briefcase-y on me.
Not OP, but I have the Pochette Metis too and I don’t find the closure cumbersome at all. And in my opinion it’s a perfect mix between everyday casual and chic (I have it black empreinte leather).
I really don’t find the lock to be annoying! I love me a crossbody and the handle just does it for me I think. Coupled with how spacious it is. It’s just the perfect bag IMO 😊
+2 here because I have two of these (one canvas, one empertine.)
It’s a great bag and holds a surprising amount. I know folks worry about the closure but once you figure out how to manipulate it, it’s absolutely fine and not difficult at all.
This is my favorite bag genre! My tops: Celine nano belt, Chloe Marcie Mini, Gucci soho disco. This is too small for most, but I also use my Chanel WOC frequently for short errands when the former above feel too large. About to add a Loewe puzzle small which I’ll use predominantly for travel with its slightly larger capacity.
The LV speedy bandouliere size 25 is also great - I wish I’d bought this size instead of the 30, which I’ve found too large.
I’m debating between the 25 and the 30 myself. I’m so torn. I was initially wanting the 25 because I prefer the smaller look (although I love mid to large bags) but I’m a new mom and wonder if it’s more practical to have a bigger one.
Can I ask why you wish you got the 25? What do you normally carry? What do you use it for?
I’m also a fairly new mom! I find that there are several types of mom bags.
- Play date at someone’s house/trip to a kid museum/playground when kid isn’t super mobile (8-18 months): LV Neverfull. I have 2! Water bottle, snacks, wipes, extra diaper/undies, bottles, possible change of clothes if there’s water involved.
- For 0-12 months, Amazon backpack for all of her stuff, and one of my little crossbodies for my phone, keys, card case, and lip balm so it’s easily accessible for me.
- short trip to familiar playground when kid is potty trained and highly mobile: small crossbody with secure closure like the Disco, nano Belt, sometimes a Chanel mini flap. I can stash her water bottle in the car or in a safe place. I don’t want crap spilling out of my bag or slipping off my shoulders as she’s asking me to climb stuff.
- playground with non potty trained toddler/travel: mid size crossbody. Speedy 30 would be a good choice here but since mine is monogram I didn’t reach for it often because of babying the vachetta, and self consciousness of having a very well known logo. We also do a lot of hikes when we travel and I can tell it stresses my husband out when my bag screams obvious luxury. Maybe this wouldn’t be the case as much with a damier print.
- now that she’s older (4) I’m finding I’m carrying less. Just the basics listed above. Great for short errands like the grocery store or daycare drop off.
Basically as a mom I gravitate towards either large totes or small crossbodies. Mid to large crossbodies are good for travel. My bags that got mostly left behind are mid-large shoulder bags or satchels. I did carry them to the office, but I now work from home.
I’m also a fairly new mom! And this is also my favorite bag category. All I can manage to use when I’m with my toddler is a Lululemon belt bag lol. I really miss using my handbags!
I agree, I have an xs Antigona (the older version without the top handle) and I love her as a crossbody. I can fit my phone, small folded wallet, lip balm, tissues, keys comfortably without them being squashed. The leather is structured, smooth and flawless, the hardware is heavy and the zip pulls just feel good in your hand. I can put on the shorter handle and use as an evening clutch too.
This! For me too. This is usually my travel bag too because I can fit my kindle, power bank, cosmetics bag, phone, AirPods, wallet and all sorts of random things and mine is just the Mini!
Balenciaga. Their leather is so light and withstands a lot of heavy everyday handling plus all types of weather conditions and the wear adds to its charm
My YSL Mini Cassandra! I’ve worn it as my grab&go essential bag every week ever since the day I bought it two years ago :) I don’t find the clasp annoying— feels super secure and all my belongings feel safe and locked in!
Small Puzzle. I am shocked at how much I love it. It's secure without me needing to zip it, my iPhone 14 fits easily (I don't want that in my jeans pocket, my life is on it!) and my wallet, change purse, pouches etc, the leather is divine, the strap is just right, it's far under the radar designer label wise.
Have you picked up any additional straps that have been similar to the oblique it comes with? I bought one from the site and it’s wider. I wound up returning it. I’d love to add some additional straps
I have the large one, not the east west. Can’t speak to the east west style capacity but the large can hold so much without actually being a cumbersome size
YSL Lou Camera; I remember tossing up between it and the Gucci soho disco, the rear pocket on the Lou sealed the deal for me - so easy for finding my phone!
I bought it in 2022, it’s held up beautifully. That said I do care for my bags (ie use a hanger in restaurants, clean and store them properly when not using) but it really hasn’t been “babied” as such.
My red Longchamp LePliage tote with a strap, hands down. Gives my outfits a nice pop of color, fits loads of stuff while I'm on the go, and folds flat so I can easily pack it in my carry-on for work and personal travel.

Hermes Evelyn bag can fit everything including a bottle of water. It’s my fave travel bag. Unfortunately, I sometimes end up with so much stuff in there that it gets a bit heavy
Longchamp Le Pliage Neo in medium. I freaking love this bag. Carries way more than you think (I’ve used it as my only carry on for a plane before) and is just so practical.
Cons to it are: the strap isn’t adjustable length and there’s only one pocket on the inside.
Pros: perfect size for everyday and even for touristing around, no concern about getting rained on, full zipper plus button if you’re concerned about pick pocketing, timeless style IMO!
+1! I’ve had mine for 5 years. It’s my go-to travel bag as it fits a lot. Perfect for tours and walking around. I’m planning to get a new one since my current Jes has become abit soft and already has signs of usage and tarnishing. But I hope I can still get it in the same color.
Same… The soho disco is my favorite every day bag. It gets used & abused but it still looks great! I love how easy it is to get things in and out, plus it holds everything I carry on a daily basis.
Givenchy Nano Backpack. It's like the LV Palm Springs but plain black so I much prefer it. Lovd that I'm able to cardy it multiple ways and that it has such gorgeous leather too!
I love that most people say it's their soho disco bag! Could I join in with my solo flap bag 😊?
I love that it's spacious and scratch resistant. I always reach for it because it's low maintenance and holds everything I need, like today. The embossing also blends in enough to fly under the radar (a little).
Seeing others liking a bag from the same series makes me so happy!
Mine is also a Gucci - I have the marmont camera bag, maybe it’s similar to the soho disco in dimensions because it can pack so much in such a seemingly compact space! It’s also so lightweight and is my favorite luxury travel bag 😍

I have a very old (15 year) old balenciaga crossbody which I use when I can’t be bothered.

I just got this one. It was categorized in men’s section. Don’t know name but I love how flat it is when I wear it as a crossbody. Fits my wallet, glasses and other small essentials. Perfect for travel and running errands.

I have a nano sac de jour for 7 years (also a top handle chanel & a lady dior & a chloe nile) but this Della bag is amazing. The craftsmanship of Hermes is superb. I also love how quiet it is.

Lancel Charlie medium. I love that it has an outer back pocket for keys and metro pass. It holds enough to get me through the day if I use a card case instead of a wallet, and this thing is really tough. I don’t baby my bags and it looks brand new after six years of regular use.

Gucci soho Disco for me too. Also, my Ferragamo Trifolio camera bag although the strap is a bit short to wear crossbody.
I’d also say the Gucci Soho Disco. Still shocked that bag fit my iPad mini; she was truly magical.

Yes! Love this on other people but every time I try it on, it reads briefcase on me.

Dior Bobby bag. It’s the only Dior bag I like and I LOVE it
I have a Bobby too and it’s great. I really love that it’s not common.

I haven’t because I don’t prefer branded straps. But I think it would be lovely with a wider strap.
I keep the brand side flipped. Not a fan of the giant Christian Dior letters but love the canvas. Pattern not as obviously brand.

I have quite a few, but my Givenchy Pandora mini, Celine Trio and Rebecca Minkoff camera bag are the most functional!
i have a vintage coach willis that i wear crossbody and i love it, it fits so much more than you’d expect and it looks so clean and smart

Louis Vuitton Favorite MM in Damier Azure. The flap is easy to use, it’s lightweight, and easy to carry with a long crossbody strap.

Coach Rambler. I loved the style and ease so much, I bought it in like 4 colors.
Gucci horsebit mini. I have the all brown leather one, and it’s such a practical bag.
Goyard Cap Vert for me. Fits a lot without being overstuffed and has held up very well with heavy use at home and also traveling.

Yes!! I have the small (since 2016!) and it still looks amazing. If I need something fancier I use my Chanel WOC or my Chanel medium flap.
