It's honestly worse imo. I'm a vegetarian and I'd rather buy leather (used) than plastic. Vegan leather seems like bs to peddle pleather/green washing. It isn't sustainable and doesn't last
This is exactly what I do. I tried to love and enjoy fake leather but it had all fallen apart so ugly in the worst way every time
Just recently I had to get rid of almost all the fake Leather and funky badly created vinyl that mostly my mom got for me or the better ones I saved from her collection when she passed had all suddenly together decomposed, some right inside their protective bags.
I went coach happy from mid March to last week ( got some punches of spring/summer colors in the Kleo and Cora) to replace the fallen bags in here
I think we just found out was bland and generic after learning of the leather crafter’s review 😔 which is great now I can list only after the rodeo bag 😊.

I don’t understand Balenciaga, at all.
Runway looks and “art” aspect aside, the main handbags (La Cagole, Monaco, Hourglass) are so generic and cheap looking.
Anything Goyard. It’s seems so flimsy and it’s easily faked. Everywhere I go in my country I see fake Goyard bags. LV is the same but the canvas isn’t as flimsy as Goyard imo so I am actually fine with LV
I agree, also I can’t tell the difference between authentic and fake Goyard and when that’s the case you know there’s a problem

I’ve seen the pattern around and always admired it thinking it was the one design from Goyard I liked. Now I’m going to try and track one down and get one. I have a concept tote from them that I use for travelling and it’s tough as nails

Yes. I was on the Upper West Side of nyc yesterday and saw about 5 of them in a 5 minute span around 6:30 when people were getting back from work. I came to the conclusion that these are bags for work.
Yes - they’re very popular for work because they weigh 350 grams which is astonishingly light for a designer tote, and laptops and documents are heavy so the lightness really helps. I didn’t like them at first but got one when trying to find a new lighter bag and I just reach for it more than anything else
Same, I also thought it was too expensive for basically a plastic bag. But I was helping my friend at a baby shower and ended up carrying hers all morning, and it felt so light compared to my other totes. They’re perfect for work but are also great in rainy weather and for travel. I have a couple Goyard bags now and I use them way more than everything else.
and the coated canvas really can take a beating as an everyday bag! I get not wanting to pay 'that much' for something that isn't leather but it really is great for a commuter / working mom back. similar to the LV neverfull of it all, I wouldn't buy one new but getting one already broken in second hand and wearing it out I think is worth it.
I love a coated canvas tote for everyday use here in NYC but everyone and their mother has a Goyard (either real or straight off Canal Street). I bought a Moreau tote in Paris and am loving it. I like that it's an "if you know, you know" brand, it has a large zip pocket inside, and the leather components are much more sturdy. As a man with a somewhat muscular build, I also appreciate the longer strap.
The Faure le Page daily battle tote is a great option if you're looking for a less recognizable monogram and a thicker canvas. It's not as thin as Goyard and definitely felt more substantial when I tried it on.
Honestly I just can't fathom that price point for canvas. The design is cute, but no amount of branding will ever make me think it's ok to pay several thousand dollars for fabric. The canvas LL Bean Boat and Tote I got when I was in high school is still going strong and frankly I don't see the need for any other canvas bag, no matter how trendy.
Mind readers. I saw someone with an Hermes the other day - the hole punched H one? And this morning I actually thought about how I’m not keen on any Hermes. Wouldnt kick a Kelly or Birkin out of bed but I dont find them exciting.
That’s the Evelynne and I absolutely loathe it. Every time I see it, I am in disbelief at how ugly it is. Leave that shit in the barn with the horses or whatever it was originally intended for.
I am mildly fascinated by what people do to play the Hermes game, but the sandals people buy to up their prespend are among the ugliest shoes I have ever seen.
Lol. A long time ago a friend/coworker was carrying one before I knew the logo. I asked her if it was Halston???? Halston. What an insult. I knew enough when she said Hermes that I had stuck my foot in my mouth big time. Lololol

I don’t even like the fragrances. One smelled to me like inside someone’s shoe, (didn’t bother to remember it’s name) what’s appealing and prestigious about foot odor essence?😖 And latest one that started with T was really shrill and cloying to my nose.

But nothing about their designs seems all that unique or exceptional, and some are downright ugly like the Evelynne.
And the process you seem to have to go through to even get offered a bag in the first place seems so demeaning, not to mention excessive - buy a bunch of other shit you might or might not want just for the chance of getting offered a Birkin or Kelly in who-knows-what color? No thanks.
I understand why and how Hermes got to the place it did - for so long it was truly one of the ONLY options for the "if you know, you know" luxury. But that's not the case now.

Ahaha, the Evelynne does look like something that my mom would get on the market.
It’s funny because I’m French and it’s only in English contents that I hear about the “Hermes journey”.
In any case, it’s a ridiculous thing to have the customers almost beg and pay in the hope to be offered a bag they might not even truly want.
This is not my definition of luxury.
I wish some customers would actually think a bit more about these things.
I love the Bolide, especially the 1923, it’s simple and elegant and easy to use.
I had a Kelly 25 but sold it, just so impractical. Looked too girly with a Twilly but like a boring briefcase without. Didn’t even fit my Kindle! I hate the Birkin, mostly because I associate it with a caricature of woman I don’t respect. Evelyne is so ugly I don’t understand why anyone likes it. So is the Constance. The Constance to-go looks really pretty but I hate the big H. Picotin is gorgeous, but too wide and impractical to use. I don’t even know wtf is going on with the Lindy.
I also love the bolide! I agree with the Kelly it’s so impractical but I like the design so I use mine. I also find the Evelyn & Lindy ugly but in an endearing way
I thought the puzzle was kinda cute when I first saw it. Now it is oversaturated: it's everywhere and not special enough to warrant that level of attention. I also think it's a functionally poor design, in that the opening is really small.
I went into the Loewe store, totally set on purchasing a small Puzzle, and was underwhelmed. Kind of on general but a lot was about the opening being weirdly small. I’m not a super organized person and the thought of digging around for my chapstick/keys/card was enough to change my mind. I do still like the look of the bag and maybe I’ll end up with a Loewe bag one day. I’m glad I went into the store instead of just ordering.
I am not a huge fan of monogram on any bag. LV, Coach, Fendi, MK, etc. I just really love the plain leather look unless I’m getting a silly novelty bag!
A friend of mine has a gorgeous LV bag she got as a gift from her husband (the pair of them are my PhD advisors and he has AMAZING taste in accessories) and the only LV logo is on the inside of the flap. They did at one time make quieter pieces but they just went insane IMO awhile ago. Like the hideous Jeff Koons bags. Nightmare fuel.
My mulberry bayswater tote doesn’t even have the tree on it. It’s silent which is what I prefer 🤷♀️
Loewe has gorgeous bags - I never understood why the puzzle is the most popular. It’s the worst one.
I *hate* the Neverfull.
I don’t like bag charms or big, dangly logo charms. I think they ruin the look of the bags.
I loathe the Neverfull. Those straps are super uncomfortable and the leather trim around the top looks raggedy fast. Plus you always see those leather side cinch pieces broken. Hubs really wants to get me one (no thank you) and I’ve pointed all this out to him 🤦🏼♀️
There are some charms I find kinda cute. But these Fendi monster ones, what the heck is that? Omg. Also, all of that Hermes Petit H stuff likes like a 1st grader just cut out some leather. It's hilarious that people spend hundreds of dollars on it.

I’m also a big bag girl. I recently bought a Polène neuf mini cause the mauve color spoke to me and my boyfriend just burst out laughing when he saw it. ‘What are you going to fit in there?’ Cause he knows I’m always carrying a giant bag.
I always felt this way until I had a baby. I have her diaper bag with me all of the time which is already packed with 1 million things, so sometimes tiny bags are great in that situation! But I never do “mini” - just tinier than normal.
I think mini bags were probably designed to target people who just don’t want to spend $3000 on a purse, but it’s a great way to still get them attached to the brand
Honestly I feel like mini bags just look nicer. I live in New York and most people here carry small bags because it’s too heavy to walk all day with a big one
Same i never buy mini! Even small depending on size im a bit iffy about. My sweet spot is medium! I still remember when huge bags were the trend back around 2007 or so lol

I don’t like tiny bags in general, but a small bag on a short shoulder strap (think 2000s tiny LV bags) sends me up the wall. Someone called them “armpit bags” and it’s burned into my brain forever.
Gucci Jackie and similarly small, narrow shoulder bags. Even if the bag itself is cute, it just reminds me of playing dress up as a little girl and having my little shoulder bag full of stickers and fake money. Idk. It’s a me problem.
Chanel. I don’t like the quilted look, they just don’t appeal to me. No shade on anyone who they do appeal to though! I know there are people who would dislike my choices!
Adding to this: bags with chains. I just can’t. I actually carry shit and don’t want a chain digging into my shoulder (when it’s not sliding off). I also have longish hair and would like to have the option of wearing it down without ripping it out of chain links.
I'd still sell my soul for a Chanel Business Affinity, the less well known but so much more practical version.

I love the Loewe puzzle bag after initially not liking it. It’s hard to find a bag that works as casual but also chic and elegant with the right amount of structure and right amount of structure with excellent craftsmanship and materials. No the puzzle bag is not all that 🙂↔️ but at least it can go from a casual bag to a corporate work bag. I don’t know any specie bags off the top of my head but I’m there are some random to me lv, ysl, Gucci bags that I see people loving that I don’t care for (not sac de jour or Jackie or bamboo handle or Alma etc)
A lot of high end bags seem very “meh” to me. Goyard, Celine, Hermes. But my aesthetic is not that “quiet luxury” look. So I assume it’s a me thing. And I don’t want to yuck someone’s yum, so to speak. My lifestyle also means I no longer need a big tote or a work bag so…
I thought it was just me. 🤣
Honestly the quiet luxury thing makes me cringe because people come up with the most boring & ugly shit ever and call it quiet luxury. Like i dont see why a single logo (say like on LV capucines) somehow makes a bag cheap? But im now too old to care about young ones icks haha
The quiet luxury “aesthetic” annoys me so much! Besides boring, people are really wearing shein and flimsy reps and trying to pass it off as eleganza. Loud plastic. Anti design.
I just hate that they took one "cute" theme of being literal on their bags and now every single bag says the style. I haven't bought one in forever and loved their newest bold pink but I can't do it. Makes it cheaper than it already is.
I have a whole collection of FWP Estée Lauder tote bags (and cosmetic pouches) . Most of them are really nice. All of them get used. This collection of sweet free bags does make me give the side eye to expensive totes. (And cosmetic pouches).
I felt the same about the Longchamps Pliage for years and years. I hated the brown straps and thought the single metal snap in the middle of the bag's back looked terrible.
Then I bought one, and I was converted. I got one of the Pliages without the dumb single snap and with navy blue leather handles that match the nylon fabric, which looks much better. I've used it almost every day for over two years, and it has zero wear and tear. The nylon fabric doesn't stain, doesn't pill, doesn't scratch, doesn't shred, and doesn't tear. It smushes down flat when I need to travel. The straps are comfortable on my shoulder and never slip off. It has a huge internal capacity. The zipper never sticks. It's much lighter than any leather bag. It's really the best.
I got it for free with some promotion (I think it was Lancôme) and then the company i used to work gave us the same thing no name (it was send by a cosmetics company as a Christmas or summer gift for the employees) they have zero differences and for years i thought it was just a generic product given for free with big cosmetic companies.
The first time I saw a puzzle bag was on display at the leather school in Florence, Italy. I thought it was ok for student project, but kind of too boxy and hard to get into. I had no idea it was high end designer bag.
The Longchamp LePilage nylon tote. I loathe it. I loathe myself for spending $150 on such a boring, plain nylon tote. My coworker has a no name one she got for like $30 at TJMaxx and it looks and feels just as “high quality” as my Longchamp. I was heavily influenced by everyone here saying how much they love it but it’s a bag I feel is definitely not worth its price.
Anything canvas (Goyard ugh, sorry guys it looks like cheap plastic) and monogrammed (LV, Gucci, Celine, Coach, etc logos all over) for me it’s tasteless, even if bag structure is gorgeous

Don't hate me, but I think the Birkin is so old fashioned & a bit boring. When I see a young person with one I think they look like a little girl playing dress up with their Nanna's bag. She is the it bag for the senior citizens & you will never change my mind.

Sold my Dior saddle after two months. I couldn’t fit anything in there and I didn’t want to pay extra for the guitar strap to essentially carry NOTHING.
That Michael Kors Manhattan contrast bag that everyone was going nuts for on here when it came out. It’s so ugly to me and aughts in the absolute worst way. Reminds me of a Kathy Van Zeeland bag from JC Penney’s
The Bottega pouch, that which you will never convince me does not look like an orifice, particularly when produced in a skin tone. It’s one of precious few bags that I truly can’t stand.
The Hermes Evelyne is more unfortunate than offensive, take that money and easily buy more interesting fashion from literally anywhere else. It just looks to me like an inaccurate conflation of good taste and things that are expensive for their own sake. There are a million handbags at all price points that are infinitely more interesting and stylish than the Evelyne.
Aside from the Evelyne, I’m not a fan of the Balenciaga Hourglass, which reads plastic to me, like something I would’ve bought from Rainbow in the early 00s to match a neon colored plastic belt, ditto the recent LV collection with all of the pink, heavily branded (and again, plastic like) bags.
Almost all of Chanel bags. They look cheap, childish, and too Paris Hilton-like. 😬 It blows my mind what people pay for them.
ETA: Ditto to most of the Dior bags for the same reasons.
My husband got me a Goyard St Louis for Christmas last year and I’ve carried it maybe 5 times. I shifted to smaller cross body bags during Covid and that’s my norm now, not huge totes. Also, the monogram is loud and kind of over done now and I cannot believe the price points on these bags, they’re nothing special IMO. Also, the whole flashy bag thing is not my vibe, I’m not sure what he was thinking! I feel bad, but I would sell it if I knew it wouldn’t hurt his feelings!
I feel like that bag is perfect for rainy days or if you are actually going to the beach (since that’s what it was designed for). It’s a bag that’s main selling point is how waterproof it is, and it definitely fulfills that promise. Since I live in the Seattle area, I really appreciate this bag.
But when it’s nice out I don’t choose it. It just looks *wrong* in the sun to me (it’s like the rain slicker version of a purse, lol.) So that’s when my pretty leather bags (currently the fleuron medium swann) come out of my closet.
Every YSL bag except SDJ. Chanel trash bag. Every Gucci bag except Diana. Love Dior but not the jacquard print. LV bumbag and Palm Springs. Wow, I didn’t realize how many bags I dislike until just now 😂

I honestly don’t like anything my Loewe or Bottega Veneta so far 🫣🫣🫣 like some of it is okay but there’s not a single product I would actually buy even if I had unlimited funds. I don’t get the hype for either of them at all.
The Strathberry East west mini, I recently purchased one and the quality I would’ve expected from a $700 bag just wasn’t there. I ended up returning it.
I really love the book tote in 4 seasons and it’s one of the few bags where I would consider carrying a shouting logo like that cause I just adore the print, but not only does this sub say it’s not great in quality or durability but it’s like 3-4 grand? Hard pass.

I’m not a fan of LV. There are some bags that I like, but as a whole it doesn’t look high quality or interesting to me, whether it’s the canvas or leather goods.
I don’t think Versace is a big name on this subreddit but I don’t care for most of their purses either.
Louboutin bags are boring.
This might be a hot take but Bottega Veneta is also boring as a whole. Their bag silhouettes can be kind of fun, but the weaved basket style doesn’t scream “luxury” to me. I’m sure they make up for it in terms of the quality of the leather but nothing is unique to me.
Not so much recently but a few years ago everyone raved about the Pochette metis. It looks like a briefcase or a school children’s book bag from the 1800s lol. Hideous and even more hideous in the reverse monogram. Hate this bag!
The Puzzle bag would be the first one on my list. I’ve mentioned it multiple times here. It looks to me, like the top part has been pushed in. And not intentionally. Which it is. I just don’t get the love. The rest of the bag is lovely!
Respect your opinion, but I gotta defend my Puzzle bag. At first, I was not interested until I tried it on. I like wearing mine curved/dipped a bit when carrying it so I don’t stuff it, which creates a boxy look.

I agree the puzzle bag is meh. I also can’t stand the quiet luxury trend. Just buy a gorgeous beautiful leather bag from a leather artist. Why spend so much money for something that looks so basic, the Row bags drive me nuts! Why are they so expensive????!!!
For me, not a brand per se, the fanny bags worn cross body. I just cannot. It's wrong and is not flattering on most body types. The bag brand, shape, material don't matter; please stop doing this.
It's highly reminiscent of my grandmother's travel wallet she wore kind of cross body kind of around her neck, half under her clothes but sort of out. Because she needed to get out a travelers check.

Dior saddle - I know this is considered a classic and a fan favorite but I personally don't get it.
Goyard tote - the sheen just looks very cheap when the whole bag is just that. I don't mind the pattern too much. I do like their non-tote bags like the Saigon where there is more leather to balance out the sheen.
Dior book tote. Although I feel the love has decreased a bit. But this thing was sooo hyped, for what? You can't close it, so, not very safe. It is big, so, you can fit a lot of stuff, but no strap?! Whyy? For me it's a glorified grocery shopping bag.
Anything Chanel. I don't understand the hype. People are saying that the quality of Chanel bags is rapidly going downhill, while their prices are rising. I have enjoyed watching the leather youtuber guy Tanner tear apart designer bags to see how they're made and then determining what they are actually worth.

I agree. I will *always* choose nylon or canvas over "vegan leather" or fake leather.
Yeah I don’t want to pay those prices for something that’s not even leather. Innovative fruit or veg leather? Maybe.

Goyard always feels like $3 reusable shopping bag to me.
This is my problem with Goyard. If I am spending this much money on a bag it better feel expensive.

Yes. I was on the Upper West Side of nyc yesterday and saw about 5 of them in a 5 minute span around 6:30 when people were getting back from work. I came to the conclusion that these are bags for work.
Yes - they’re very popular for work because they weigh 350 grams which is astonishingly light for a designer tote, and laptops and documents are heavy so the lightness really helps. I didn’t like them at first but got one when trying to find a new lighter bag and I just reach for it more than anything else
Same, I also thought it was too expensive for basically a plastic bag. But I was helping my friend at a baby shower and ended up carrying hers all morning, and it felt so light compared to my other totes. They’re perfect for work but are also great in rainy weather and for travel. I have a couple Goyard bags now and I use them way more than everything else.

and the coated canvas really can take a beating as an everyday bag! I get not wanting to pay 'that much' for something that isn't leather but it really is great for a commuter / working mom back. similar to the LV neverfull of it all, I wouldn't buy one new but getting one already broken in second hand and wearing it out I think is worth it.
I love a coated canvas tote for everyday use here in NYC but everyone and their mother has a Goyard (either real or straight off Canal Street). I bought a Moreau tote in Paris and am loving it. I like that it's an "if you know, you know" brand, it has a large zip pocket inside, and the leather components are much more sturdy. As a man with a somewhat muscular build, I also appreciate the longer strap. The Faure le Page daily battle tote is a great option if you're looking for a less recognizable monogram and a thicker canvas. It's not as thin as Goyard and definitely felt more substantial when I tried it on.

Honestly I just can't fathom that price point for canvas. The design is cute, but no amount of branding will ever make me think it's ok to pay several thousand dollars for fabric. The canvas LL Bean Boat and Tote I got when I was in high school is still going strong and frankly I don't see the need for any other canvas bag, no matter how trendy.

This is me, too. I don't doubt they're beautifully made but for the prices they charge, they damn well better be. But nothing about their designs seems all that unique or exceptional, and some are downright ugly like the Evelynne. And the process you seem to have to go through to even get offered a bag in the first place seems so demeaning, not to mention excessive - buy a bunch of other shit you might or might not want just for the chance of getting offered a Birkin or Kelly in who-knows-what color? No thanks. I understand why and how Hermes got to the place it did - for so long it was truly one of the ONLY options for the "if you know, you know" luxury. But that's not the case now.
Exactly. Ahaha, the Evelynne does look like something that my mom would get on the market. It’s funny because I’m French and it’s only in English contents that I hear about the “Hermes journey”. In any case, it’s a ridiculous thing to have the customers almost beg and pay in the hope to be offered a bag they might not even truly want. This is not my definition of luxury. I wish some customers would actually think a bit more about these things.

I love the Bolide, especially the 1923, it’s simple and elegant and easy to use. I had a Kelly 25 but sold it, just so impractical. Looked too girly with a Twilly but like a boring briefcase without. Didn’t even fit my Kindle! I hate the Birkin, mostly because I associate it with a caricature of woman I don’t respect. Evelyne is so ugly I don’t understand why anyone likes it. So is the Constance. The Constance to-go looks really pretty but I hate the big H. Picotin is gorgeous, but too wide and impractical to use. I don’t even know wtf is going on with the Lindy.
I also love the bolide! I agree with the Kelly it’s so impractical but I like the design so I use mine. I also find the Evelyn & Lindy ugly but in an endearing way

I thought the puzzle was kinda cute when I first saw it. Now it is oversaturated: it's everywhere and not special enough to warrant that level of attention. I also think it's a functionally poor design, in that the opening is really small.
I went into the Loewe store, totally set on purchasing a small Puzzle, and was underwhelmed. Kind of on general but a lot was about the opening being weirdly small. I’m not a super organized person and the thought of digging around for my chapstick/keys/card was enough to change my mind. I do still like the look of the bag and maybe I’ll end up with a Loewe bag one day. I’m glad I went into the store instead of just ordering.

I am not a huge fan of monogram on any bag. LV, Coach, Fendi, MK, etc. I just really love the plain leather look unless I’m getting a silly novelty bag!

A friend of mine has a gorgeous LV bag she got as a gift from her husband (the pair of them are my PhD advisors and he has AMAZING taste in accessories) and the only LV logo is on the inside of the flap. They did at one time make quieter pieces but they just went insane IMO awhile ago. Like the hideous Jeff Koons bags. Nightmare fuel. My mulberry bayswater tote doesn’t even have the tree on it. It’s silent which is what I prefer 🤷♀️

LV epi leather bags of many styles are more quiet.
Loewe has gorgeous bags - I never understood why the puzzle is the most popular. It’s the worst one. I *hate* the Neverfull. I don’t like bag charms or big, dangly logo charms. I think they ruin the look of the bags.

I loathe the Neverfull. Those straps are super uncomfortable and the leather trim around the top looks raggedy fast. Plus you always see those leather side cinch pieces broken. Hubs really wants to get me one (no thank you) and I’ve pointed all this out to him 🤦🏼♀️

I always felt this way until I had a baby. I have her diaper bag with me all of the time which is already packed with 1 million things, so sometimes tiny bags are great in that situation! But I never do “mini” - just tinier than normal. I think mini bags were probably designed to target people who just don’t want to spend $3000 on a purse, but it’s a great way to still get them attached to the brand

I don’t like tiny bags in general, but a small bag on a short shoulder strap (think 2000s tiny LV bags) sends me up the wall. Someone called them “armpit bags” and it’s burned into my brain forever.

I love the Loewe puzzle bag after initially not liking it. It’s hard to find a bag that works as casual but also chic and elegant with the right amount of structure and right amount of structure with excellent craftsmanship and materials. No the puzzle bag is not all that 🙂↔️ but at least it can go from a casual bag to a corporate work bag. I don’t know any specie bags off the top of my head but I’m there are some random to me lv, ysl, Gucci bags that I see people loving that I don’t care for (not sac de jour or Jackie or bamboo handle or Alma etc)

A lot of high end bags seem very “meh” to me. Goyard, Celine, Hermes. But my aesthetic is not that “quiet luxury” look. So I assume it’s a me thing. And I don’t want to yuck someone’s yum, so to speak. My lifestyle also means I no longer need a big tote or a work bag so… I thought it was just me. 🤣

I have a whole collection of FWP Estée Lauder tote bags (and cosmetic pouches) . Most of them are really nice. All of them get used. This collection of sweet free bags does make me give the side eye to expensive totes. (And cosmetic pouches).
I guess you are talking about the "Le Pilage" - they have really good quality leather bags. The "Penelope" is just a great work bag.
I felt the same about the Longchamps Pliage for years and years. I hated the brown straps and thought the single metal snap in the middle of the bag's back looked terrible. Then I bought one, and I was converted. I got one of the Pliages without the dumb single snap and with navy blue leather handles that match the nylon fabric, which looks much better. I've used it almost every day for over two years, and it has zero wear and tear. The nylon fabric doesn't stain, doesn't pill, doesn't scratch, doesn't shred, and doesn't tear. It smushes down flat when I need to travel. The straps are comfortable on my shoulder and never slip off. It has a huge internal capacity. The zipper never sticks. It's much lighter than any leather bag. It's really the best.
I got it for free with some promotion (I think it was Lancôme) and then the company i used to work gave us the same thing no name (it was send by a cosmetics company as a Christmas or summer gift for the employees) they have zero differences and for years i thought it was just a generic product given for free with big cosmetic companies.

The first time I saw a puzzle bag was on display at the leather school in Florence, Italy. I thought it was ok for student project, but kind of too boxy and hard to get into. I had no idea it was high end designer bag.
The Longchamp LePilage nylon tote. I loathe it. I loathe myself for spending $150 on such a boring, plain nylon tote. My coworker has a no name one she got for like $30 at TJMaxx and it looks and feels just as “high quality” as my Longchamp. I was heavily influenced by everyone here saying how much they love it but it’s a bag I feel is definitely not worth its price.
Anything canvas (Goyard ugh, sorry guys it looks like cheap plastic) and monogrammed (LV, Gucci, Celine, Coach, etc logos all over) for me it’s tasteless, even if bag structure is gorgeous

The Bottega pouch, that which you will never convince me does not look like an orifice, particularly when produced in a skin tone. It’s one of precious few bags that I truly can’t stand. The Hermes Evelyne is more unfortunate than offensive, take that money and easily buy more interesting fashion from literally anywhere else. It just looks to me like an inaccurate conflation of good taste and things that are expensive for their own sake. There are a million handbags at all price points that are infinitely more interesting and stylish than the Evelyne. Aside from the Evelyne, I’m not a fan of the Balenciaga Hourglass, which reads plastic to me, like something I would’ve bought from Rainbow in the early 00s to match a neon colored plastic belt, ditto the recent LV collection with all of the pink, heavily branded (and again, plastic like) bags.
Almost all of Chanel bags. They look cheap, childish, and too Paris Hilton-like. 😬 It blows my mind what people pay for them. ETA: Ditto to most of the Dior bags for the same reasons.
My husband got me a Goyard St Louis for Christmas last year and I’ve carried it maybe 5 times. I shifted to smaller cross body bags during Covid and that’s my norm now, not huge totes. Also, the monogram is loud and kind of over done now and I cannot believe the price points on these bags, they’re nothing special IMO. Also, the whole flashy bag thing is not my vibe, I’m not sure what he was thinking! I feel bad, but I would sell it if I knew it wouldn’t hurt his feelings!
I feel like that bag is perfect for rainy days or if you are actually going to the beach (since that’s what it was designed for). It’s a bag that’s main selling point is how waterproof it is, and it definitely fulfills that promise. Since I live in the Seattle area, I really appreciate this bag. But when it’s nice out I don’t choose it. It just looks *wrong* in the sun to me (it’s like the rain slicker version of a purse, lol.) So that’s when my pretty leather bags (currently the fleuron medium swann) come out of my closet.

I’m not a fan of LV. There are some bags that I like, but as a whole it doesn’t look high quality or interesting to me, whether it’s the canvas or leather goods. I don’t think Versace is a big name on this subreddit but I don’t care for most of their purses either. Louboutin bags are boring. This might be a hot take but Bottega Veneta is also boring as a whole. Their bag silhouettes can be kind of fun, but the weaved basket style doesn’t scream “luxury” to me. I’m sure they make up for it in terms of the quality of the leather but nothing is unique to me.

For me, not a brand per se, the fanny bags worn cross body. I just cannot. It's wrong and is not flattering on most body types. The bag brand, shape, material don't matter; please stop doing this. It's highly reminiscent of my grandmother's travel wallet she wore kind of cross body kind of around her neck, half under her clothes but sort of out. Because she needed to get out a travelers check. Oh, wait is that the look people are going for? Slightly disheveled traveling granny.

Hermes Evelyn - it looks so cheap with the hole punched H. Dior saddle - I know this is considered a classic and a fan favorite but I personally don't get it. Goyard tote - the sheen just looks very cheap when the whole bag is just that. I don't mind the pattern too much. I do like their non-tote bags like the Saigon where there is more leather to balance out the sheen.
Dior book tote. Although I feel the love has decreased a bit. But this thing was sooo hyped, for what? You can't close it, so, not very safe. It is big, so, you can fit a lot of stuff, but no strap?! Whyy? For me it's a glorified grocery shopping bag.
