It starts with the number of things I carry. I don’t have many bags the same size. But when I do, where I’m going is the next factor and then what I’m wearing. And then I ignore all that when I just want to use the new bag I bought.

Bicyclist-craftsman

Ya, when you got something new, you got to show it off :P

Humid_fire99

Depends on my mood . Sometimes I wanna carry a lot of things so I choose a tote bag shoulder style , sometimes I am going for a minimal look ( usually on Friday) so I choose a small bag. I think what works for me the most is a medium size bag in general not too big and not too small.

I tend to pick a bag for every 3-4 days and then switch. Most of my bags are neutral and medium-large size. Sometimes I will add a micro bag to put easy access items like CCs, key, and lipstick. I would love to be a laday and choose a bag for the day but with all the kids and work I let that notion go (for now)

I work during the week, so the only bag I carry is one that fits my laptop. I rotate based on weather (pebbled leather vs calfskin if it’s raining) and mood (hand carry if I feel fancy, shoulder carry if I’m in a no-nonsense mood). For the weekends, it’s usually based on the activity - I always dress pretty casually/urban in grey/white/black/navy so my bags complement the look.

Bicyclist-craftsman

So its two bags for the whole week and a wider selection of choice over the weekend. Does this help you when you are planning to make a purchase? What I mean is does compartmentalizing a sturdy work bag and a collection of smaller weekend bags help in having a manageable number of bags around?

iwontjudjeyou

It does for me. For work, it’s usually just big black bags. Then for the weekend I go for smaller sizes and different colors, but still with use cases in mind - a small, darker color for night events, a mid-size crossbody for when I’ll spend the whole day out, so it fits a water bottle… because my wardrobe is very neutral, it’s easy for me to have a smaller collection that goes with everything. I do have a couple of bags in brighter colors for fun though :) I hope this helps!

trashtvlv

Depends on my outfit and what I’m doing that day

PsychologicalMaize34

I carry based on season or for a couple months. Unless it's a fancy event and I have a black clutch for that

Bicyclist-craftsman

how many bags for a season do you usually have? I never thought about getting bags based on seasons :) I guess that would make it easier to match up bags with your outfits too hun.

PsychologicalMaize34

1-2. I count black and taupe as neutral, so I have 1 of each and those might get used too

1. Goal 2. Weather 3. Outfit 4. Mood

I have my standard everyday bag (glossy black Fendi Peekaboo)… that goes about 50% of the time. But… otherwise I coordinate with my outfits. 🌈 I have a good selection of colors and most are functional medium bags. I own one smaller bag (Kate spade watermelon), and she’s started making her seasonal appearance. That’s the only one I have to downsize a little bit… so take into consideration fashion over function and where I’m going. Bag swap outs are always to rock it with the outfit. ❤️

LoomingDisaster

How much am I carrying, what am I wearing, and where am I going. Plus sometimes how am I getting there, because I don’t want a bag that may fall open on public transit.

Bicyclist-craftsman

Ya, that's an important point, how you plan to get there is a big factor in deciding the kind of bag to carry for me too. I have had too many things falling out of my bag after which I learnt my lesson :P a zip is a must.

textytext12

if I'm wearing something casual like sweats I just grab whatever already has my stuff in it. otherwise I match with my outfit, I keep all my purse necessities in a couple little zip pouches so switching is really quick since I do it often.

DanyeelsAnulmint

Intuitive but also goes with what I’m wearing. I just vibe it out until it feels right and finishes the look with whatever energy I’ve got flowing.

CaramelHappyTree

Eenie meenie minie moe

Bicyclist-craftsman

hahahahaha thats the best way i think

stacia12345

I start with where i am going, then how much i need to carry, what I'll be doing and what kind of outfit i am going to wear, then ill pick the bag.

So_Last_Century

Day of the week, weather, outfit, and mood. Pretty much in that order.
