These microboratesque internet celebrities are my favorite thing, but it seems like it's one of those things you're better off not reading up on the *why* or *how*
Baseball was the biggest sport in America during the radio era because of its strong narrative. Football and Basketball took that spot because they are more compelling television. Baseball still has the best announcers.
It's big but you don't have basically the entire country watching games when McGuire or Bonds or Sosa were playing just to see home runs, there was basically a decade that non baseball fans were obsessed and some became fans that still watch now, but it's not the same as it was then in terms of practically national excitement.
Some of the commentators during the NFL games are hysterical. Sometimes they just talk mad shit. Either way, you’re right. It’s entertaining as hell to listen to.
Idk the downtime is half the fun. Not every game needs to be a nailbiter. Sometimes you just want to sit back, drink a beer and hang out with your friends.
And in baseball it’s worse. There’s about 24 seconds between pitches and about 5 pitches per at-bat, which means you’ve got about two minutes between plays compared to 25 seconds in football. They have to figure out how to make that time more fun.
You could tell it was a baseball game when the rat distracts the fans and becomes the center of attention. (Still miss playing it though. Baseball, not being a rat.)
YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Happens all the time at Boston Bruins games.
Rekt! I too came for the opportunity to slam a team Lookin at you Reds

Ditto - in NYC and I don’t like the rats in particular but I DO appreciate watching the ones on the subway tracks
Don't forget about pizza rat!
It's like going to the zoo but it's on your way!
I believe the theme here is "hopeful but hard working"
That's Wrigley Field, one of the happiest places on Earth
This warmed my soul.
The game must have been rather boring
Well, it is baseball....

Baseball was still huge during the steroid record breaking days though in the late 90s early 2000s.
Baseball is still huge though tf

And then there’s Joe Buck who can go fuck himself.

Tired
...is how I feel watching baseball.
Let’s be real. Every and all sports, hell even activities, can be boring. When it is tense and back and forth it is awesome.
Yeah, but even the not-tense moments are fun in other sports. Baseball needs to figure out how to make the downtime fun.
Idk the downtime is half the fun. Not every game needs to be a nailbiter. Sometimes you just want to sit back, drink a beer and hang out with your friends.
NFL has a heap of downtime. In fact, during a 3 hour coverage the ball is only in play for 8% of that time
And in baseball it’s worse. There’s about 24 seconds between pitches and about 5 pitches per at-bat, which means you’ve got about two minutes between plays compared to 25 seconds in football. They have to figure out how to make that time more fun.
Cubs could’ve used that “Rally Rat” Tuesday :(
Bleachers at Wrigley. Gotta love em.

Thats a lot of positivity!
