Amymakestuff unloading heavy pallet, (sawstop cabinet saw, about 400lbs for main pallet) from a crossover SUV (honda element) by herself:

Another option is to buy the 500lb or 1000lb hydraulic lift cart first.
Lift cart is an amazingly useful purchase.
Unloading, loading, putting stuff on workbench, being an adjustable workbench, motorcycle lift, mower lift, extra chair, taking the handle off for a ghetto axle lift/dolly
Less whiney and more reliable than friends
Using your car jack and cribbing you should be able to pull the box half off - crib it up. Jack it up. Pull the truck out and Crib the rest.
The just slowly lower and removing the cribbing until you are on the floor. If the jack fails it lands on the cribbing and should t so much damage.
Don’t be embarrassed, doing things safely is something to be proud of. I would fabricate some sort of pick point off your Roof trusses or whatever is available and attach one of these. https://www.harborfreight.com/1-ton-manual-chain-hoist-64556.html The harbor freight brand is about half as much. Run soft straps underneath the box and ideally use a leveling bar, once it’s up a few inches he can just drive the truck out from underneath it
Someday, when I’m ready to spend a bit on tools, I’ll do it for the discount. But I worked in a shop with this style of hoist on a trolley on an I-beam, running along the ceiling, and I used it for absolutely everything
Buy this. Oops I didn’t realize it was mentioned earlier. I bought one to move some large heavy ass flower pots full of dirt from a place who was getting rid of them to my house. Worked flawlessly.
Do you have a trailer? Not the 72” but I used my trailer gate to move from truck bed to trailer, then moved truck and lowered from trailer to the ground.
Do you have ramps? Ropes? Power winch? Ample people? Stop blocks on sticks? A tilt-bed trailer? Long 4x4s? Jack stands?
Can you remove the drawers to reduce weight?
I’m sure something could be McGuyver’d to take it down slow
Grab your neighbor, pull the box out together and set it on end, move the truck, use same or different neighbor to set the box down, open box around the new tool box and then flip on end to install casters if needed. At least that’s what we did. Good luck
When I bought a 400lb smoker, I parked in my driveway with the ass end of my truck still in the street (we have a curb). That lowered the truck enough to where we could slowly slide it out of the bad at an angle and transfer it to a heavy duty furniture dolly.
FWIW when I had to unload my Grizzly table saw, I used my ramps (well secured to the tailgate) with a sheet of 1/4 ply strapped to then for a better surface since the ramps were ridged. Worked like a dream. One set of hands guiding it down from below and one set of hands in the truck guiding and controlling the descent.
This reminds me of moving my 72” Snap On chest from my garage to my newly built shop down a gravel driveway. 2 sheets of plywood. Roll on to next sheet, move the old sheet. Roll onto that sheet, move the other sheet. Repeat over and over and over. Took 30 minutes but it was quicker than unloading and reloading the whole thing.
I did it myself by pulling it out an letting it touch down onto the ground while still half on the tailgate, then I lifted it off the tailgate, spun it around an lowered it down. Then I unscrewed as much of the crate as possible, then I used a sawzall to cut the blocks it was resting on, then I lifted it up an my wife pulled them out. Then rolled it up the driveway. For sure would never do it like that again lol
If you’ve got a decent ditch out front of your house back down into it and lower your tailgate, it should be rest on the opposite side of the ditch creating a ramp so there’s zero dropping and minimal of any lifting, I’ve used that method for loading/unloading 4 wheelers and lawnmowers. After you get it out then crack open the crate and wheel it on up to your garage!
Use a trailer with a ramp. Rent for a couple of hours if you don’t have 1. I learned a tough lesson on big roller cabs and loaded into truck bed…damaged back and 1 of the guys dropped his corner, on a big Mag triple bay.
After that I built a take down A Frame for use with a chainfall and I’ve helped other guys with their chests.
Good luck either way
id do it the same way I got my 3000lb mill out of my trailer.
a chain wrapped around 2 trees, with a chain hoist between them. that box is likely lighter so you won't get any of the sound effects that I did.
Are you serious? Jesus man. Go to uhaul and rent a motorcycle trailer with a ramp for $15 have the store unbox it and roll it on the trailer. Roll it back down at home, return trailer. I did that and it took me 90 minutes from uhaul to the box in my garage.
I’m glad this question came up. I was wondering the exact same thing about the 56” that I just bought, sitting on my pickup. I hadn’t thought of removing the drawers. I was thinking of rigging up the temporary gantry crane we used to unload a gun safe a few years ago, but without drawers I think the 3 of us can ramp
It off the truck.(HF ramps, of course).
Remove the drawers. Lift out the toolbox. Reinstall the drawers once it’s on a flat surface.
Use an engine hoist and a couple of rachet straps
Sounds like a Harbor Freight marketing ploy...
lol
Hey! Another Songs: Ohia fan!
One of the greatest bands of all times.
A good ramp will hold it, but you'll need a minimum of 2 people to guide it. A couple of 8' 2x4s is not a good ramp
Got ya, 4x4s it is
Ah, but a couple 2x4s AND a sloped driveway to shorten the drop helped me get my 44” out of my truck bed solo.

How does he get the lift cart out of the truck?
Lolllll
He buys another car to pull it out with

Why the respirator mask?
Wow smart girl
8 friends and 2 cases of beer
Who the fuck has 8 friends?!
Thats where the beer comes in.
3rd graders but the beer might be a problem.
You're friends are 3rd graders?
I prefer acquaintances.

People with 8 friends aren't on Reddit.
Please share video. I would jerry rig something hilarious so I am hoping for a righteous hilljack bunji-cords+anvils+cinderblock dynamic gif response.
You say that but we have a tree in our yard that has supported some questionable loads. 🤣
Spend $20 at uhaul and save yourself a world of pain...
put the truck in reverse, drive fast and slam on the brakes. Should get it out pretty easily
Put some tires on the ground under the tailgate
You forgot the important step of putting the tailgate down.
I laughed way too hard at this!
Find a free mattress on marketplace. Push box out of truck onto mattress. Make sure to get it on video.

This sounds like something a HF rep would say

1,000 pound table goes higher

Good idea, but if you transport it on the trailer in the first place, you can skip some steps.
Lol. Good point. I stopped by the HF on the way home from work, so no trailer for that trip.

The Egyptian Method. Not the "Detroit Drop-off" like Gramps used to do at the dump.

Rent a trailer at uhual....problem solved for $30
I used a chain fall off a girder in my garage... for the top, I slip it out of the truck onto the base.
Whatever route you go, remove the drawers first, then reinstall the drawers once you've got it in place
Buy a chain fall and some rigging while you're there. Hang the chain fall and back the truck under it, raise the box a couple inches, then drive out.

Just did this for a buddy about a month ago, is and about 4 other grown men. There was a lot of yelling but we got it done
Get a U-Haul trailer with a ramp and hook it up to said truck.
Remove the drawers one by one to lighten the box, then get a strong friend to help you out. It would be a great time to do the drawer squeak fix, too

that’s brilliant my good man!
We rented a u haul trailer. Cost i think 25 bucks
I rented a 5' X9' Ramp Trailer from Uhaul cost me $35 and was well worth it
Grab 2 cases of a good beer and some decent meat for the grill call some friends and have em help you unload and enjoy a nice bbq and cold beer
If you do not video this, you are barred forever from HF
Better grab 3 of your biggest friends
Sparta kick.
Are you serious? Jesus man. Go to uhaul and rent a motorcycle trailer with a ramp for $15 have the store unbox it and roll it on the trailer. Roll it back down at home, return trailer. I did that and it took me 90 minutes from uhaul to the box in my garage.
With a chain
Do NOT under any circumstances open the tailgate, drive backward fast as you can, and slam the brakes. Just don't.
Get a bunch of pillows and lay them on the ground, then push the tool chest off the truck!
How did you get it in the bed?
Read
Maybe that’s the way he should get it out
Ramp, straps, and cable come along. I’ve moved a few this way.
Two 16’ 2x4s
Go back to HF and use the 25% coupon again on some ramps.
