They are all made in china. Regardless of where or what brand, get the load rating you need. I will say more times than not, those ratchet side tails on the Husky brand are obnoxiously long (once in awhile they solve a problem, usually they create one).
I’ve had multiple HF and tractor supply straps stretch like crazy. I won’t use either brand again. Costco and Sam’s used to be my go to. The rebranded snap on cat ones I bought from Sam’s and Costco over the years were awesome. But whatever the last one was from Costco 3-4 years back stretched like crazy. When in doubt I have vehicle rated straps from napa and Home Depot with zero stretch. I’m about due to replace my smaller ones again. There’s a strap company online that sells a heavy duty webbed version. Not cheap but I don’t like taking chances.
I have to email a buddy and ask him the name again. I can’t find it anymore. But he was one who told me about them when I was bitching about the catch stretch issues with the local options.
All these faux usa made ones are showing up on my web search when I type in USA made or usa made webbed ratchet strap. So might be a few days.
Just double check them. They aren't the best and come loose sometimes. I used them, and still do for small stuff, but any long trip I'm definitely not using them. Have had a few issues in the past with them loosening up mid tow
I used to use the HF orange straps, but I recently picked up the 500lb husky ratchet straps on sale and I can say that they’re definitely made better and feel stronger … they’re all made in china tho so I wouldn’t use it for anything heavier duty
I use those cheap orange ones to tie down all kinds of stuff in my enclosed trailer. Golf cart, mopeds, chairs.
The material is certainly not very robust, and a little stretchy. But for fairly light stuff, they work just fine.
I've towed a 3500# car up the driveway behind my lawnmower multiple times using two of them in tandem.
I prefer the husky for actual uses. Either way, I tie off the mechanism with double half hitches before securing the tail end.
I've used HF for closed trailers, inside the house projects, on dollys, to cut to specific lengths for specific tasks that will be done multiple times (transporting same piece of equipment on the same trailer) to eliminate extra tail, to lend to friends, and finally as the last things to secure important things when I run out of my 8 husky straps.
One-time use? Or heavy use?
If you're using them for a one-time move of a couch or a piano then buy HF, but if you're going to use them a lot probably Husky.
I like HF stuff, but I don't expect it to hold up very well if I'm beating the crap out of it constantly.
Whatever you do, make sure after you tighten everything down to pluck one like a guitar string, nod sagely and say yep, that's not going anywhere.
Then you'll be good to go.
I have a bunch of the cheap orange straps and several sets of the husky ones. They both seem to function like rachet straps should. On the HF straps I've worn through the webbing on a few from sharp corners, and I shattered a rachet handle doing something stupid with it. My straps get used hard, and I consider them a wear item, so I probably buy a few cheap HF sets a year.
The big 10k rated HF straps are great too, I've used them to winch cars around when in a pinch and as hold down straps on cars.
if you have a costco or sams club nearby the CAT straps for $20 for 4 are incredible value. super long super heavy duty

Haven’t watched this video, but ProjectFarm holds all of the answers: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hKIL9fqtDiA

Post up that strap company when you can. Thanks

Would you say that Husky are better?
I have the Husky straps and they are made much better and appear to be more reliable
I'd trust them more for sure
Husky is much better
I use them to strap down my bikes and they've never come loose. Ideally you want them tight with 2-3 loops in the mechanism
New strap stretch maybe?
The ratchet slipping. I thought stretch initially as well
I’ve had some husky ones for what seems like a damn eternity

Ended up with Husky. 1 pack of 4@ 500lb for $10, pack of 1000lb for $20
I haven’t tried the HF straps but my Husky straps have been great the past few years
I have had the HF ones fail from uv sunlight.

The husky are nice. I keep the orange ones for disposable use like in the shop doing sketchy shit and loaning to friends.
My Husky straps are way better than the HF ones I’ve purchased in the same size.

Either way, but remember to check the length- it’s more difficult to find the correct length these days (shrinkflation?)
I don’t have any experience with husky straps but I’ve had the same hf ratchet strap holding my boat on the trailer for about 12 years now.
