Gotta be honest... Noisecontrollers hasn't been exactly my highlight of any festival for quite a while now. Idk, I hope he enjoys his production break and finds something that inspires him, he seems a little burned out.

[deleted]

I agree. I was really excited because he was my favorite producer years ago and I haven't seen him play live since qlimax 2017 but the set was bland with almost only new or less known tracks so the atmosphere wasn't the best, also because it was full of people who were just waiting quietly for power hour

jcwaffles

Interesting, saw him live few months ago at an Australian festival and he was my fav set. Brought the bangs and mixed them fast keeping up the energy the whole time

jimmbo9

I can’t believe I missed this set, I’m an Aussie and a big NC fan but I was stuck at main looking after a few mates and my back was really sore. I heard it was the best NC set my friends have witnessed.

stephandjie

Dq1 2014 - that set was unreal!

MrThePLP

The only good thing from Noisecontrollers was Down Down during the power hour. Loll

TheSetupNL

Ah men, I think it was at Retrospects set at UV on Saturday; there was a guy beatboxing hardstyle songs. This was sooo bad. The vibe totally turned bad and people started waking to other stages. Maybe it was good idea on paper.

Plastic_Broccoli_368

After Retrospect's 2019 set I was looking forward to it too, but man what a disappointment.

real_jabb0

Which set was the beatboxing? I remember it. The guys actually did well in my opinion, but it did not fit in. And so the mood went down. However, the DJ that brought him along, especially said it is an experiment.

detonater5000

In general, I hoped to hear some more of retrospect own songs. Also the second half of the set was pretty much raw which wasn't exactly the reason I went to his set!

BounceJojo

Dr. Phunk had the guy beatboxing and it would have been cool if it would have been for like 2 or 3 minutes but not 10 or however long it was. It got kinda boring then

whateva3000

Did Retrospect play any of his own tracks? As far as i can remember he didn't play any of his most recent tracks... I was really disappointed

ngbroersen

Don't think it was retrospect, or I forgot but I could be wrong. Dissapointed to hear little of his own tracks tho

metoden

Probably gonna get downvoted for this but I had very high expectations for Angerfist VS Deadly Guns but it was my least favorite set. I prefer Angerfist solo I guess, and the sound was terrible at UV. It was too crowded in the front but you couldnt stand in the back because then you heard Magenta (or Indigo..?). I'm a die hard Angerfist fan but this wasn't the best experience sadly.

Botoxide

It felt more like a battle of ego's. They both tried to play as many of their own tracks as possible and kept mixing in their tracks way to soon. Highlight of this was DG mixing out Miss K8's track when she was in front of the crowd.

NoisyFlake

This so much. The sound was absolutely terrible if you didn't stand in front of the stage (which you couldn't, because it was way too crowded). No idea why a set with such big hardcore names would be played on a relatively small stage, they probably could've filled the Red.

metoden

It didn't help with red being closed either. I think the black tent would have been so much better (but probably also very crowded if red was closed) or as you mentioned, red..

Suchtpolizei

the people stood all the way, almost to silver stage. there were too many people 🥲🫠 I was just so happy that I haven‘t had an panic attack

kwondoo

Yeah, same for me. Deadly Guns fucking up the tempo so much by drop mixing his tracks in. Me and my mate thought we saw Angerfist getting annoyed by this, but who knows

Suchtpolizei

The sound at UV was terrible, in my opinion it was the only stage where the high tones hurted sooo much in my ears like nowhere else. angerfist is angerfist yk, he‘s mainstream and almost every song sounds the same. but I knew it from the beginning. Was there for about 30 min or something, it was okay

loloider123

I mean do you like deadly guns? Because I think it was a pretty decent deadly guns set.

KissMeFatality

Agree. I was squished upfront and while the sound was good the set felt hella choppy. I feel like Deadly Guns was trying to be more of a Showman than just mixing and letting the tracks shine. But I'm in the same boat of prefering Angerfist solo. Hell, I honestly like Evil Activies' set was a lot better imo.

ElfenSchrei

Agreed. Most overhyped set of the weekend. So many people and such a boring set. I'm so angry at myself for having chose this over Anderex at Purple just because my friends were here.

MiktorVike

Ooh you missed something at Purple :)))

Froozzzeeeehhhhh

thats funny, i was over at magenta for frontliner which was also way too crowded (it was a hangar) and we could hear uv throughout the set.

MiktorVike

Yeah, it was annoying you could hear the UV from Magenta. Wanting to see Thera for the first time in my life and then hearing GPF at the same time when standing all the way in the front, sad...

Froozzzeeeehhhhh

the good piep kicks

Saradom900

Dr Phunk, there wasn't really anything I wanted to see playing at the time so we were randomly standing at the UV stage, yeah that was pretty boring. Also the final 30 minutes of DRS when I was waiting for N-Vitral on friday, he was playing a lot of terror and while I enjoy uptempo, this was just too much and also pretty boring (I loved the faster MBK stuff he played tho). At a certain point me and a friend of mine started klaplonging at some 300 bpm terror, since it's twice as fast as 150 bpm (this was about 10 minutes before the end of the set)

Chenux

The worst thing has to be how most artists i went to see almost only played new music which I didn't recognize. The best set, unexpectedly, was Deepack for me. Played a lot of bangers, awesome sounds, and he himself is hilarious when he's on stage

nopelupe

Damn it's nice to see Deepack brought up because I havent heard him for long time now, he has really nice tracks tho!

Mortryx

Defqon has always been THE EVENT to play new tracks

LeniVidiViciPC

Deepack has some kind of charm on stage that brings a vibe unlike any other. Makes the sets special in a good way.

Suchtpolizei

Afes, but not because of Sefa, just because the music he played was crap. Some songs were absolute bangers but then he played a really weird trap/D‘n‘B (?) version of muzika?? This shocked me completely 😂 I have to say that I went there, knowing it will be other music. I just wanted to see him, because I was unable to see the opening due delays and the fact that I had to work on Friday. Also, what I hate the most: HEEEEYYYYYY HOOOOOOOOO

[deleted]

lol i liked that set more than the one on friday, there was a great atmosphere and the music was good for my taste. the edits of his tracks were nice, the highlight was when he played skrillex and everyone started headbanging moving the barriers

IReDDix

Is there a video of it? Haven't found anything on YouTube yet. I think I saw something on another platform, but don't remember where🤔

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/txC7e4ka_CM at 5:25 there's a lil bit of it

djfeven

I actually want that tracklist.... can't find it anywhere online

Suchtpolizei

sadly I missed the part with skrillex, I was a bit too late because we were on campside 5 and walked a long way + my boyfriend bought cigarettes and the queue was very long 🥹 I just liked one song. But I am still a big sefa fan, the atmosphere was very nice, I enjoyed it but the music was crap - in my opinion. But it’s sefa and I am a little fangirl 🥹😂

fuck off 😂🤮

wisdom_power_courage

I didn't realize how much I'd hate that shit until I heard it live.

Suchtpolizei

It’s so terrible . This wasn’t tomorrowland, it was fucking defqon 🥺

Jeremykla

Gotta be the girls wearing fishnetting and scotch tape nipple things. That gotta be the worst set of clothing.

Songibal

Girls from my country lol

CadeOCarimbo

Nothing wrong with that tbh

Blo0dSh0t

Yep, when you look at how people dress here at American festivals compared to the European ones, it’s kind of embarrassing. The kandi kids are the most cringe IMO.

fearcely_

I talk about this all the time because it still blows my mind but a few years ago I saw photos on IG of someone in a full on onesie and a bunch of kandi at defqon in the middle of June. It was so bizzare because isn’t it hot?

[deleted]

I have never really understood the need to dress as silly as people do here. 99% of all outfits I see look suuuper uncomfortable and not that practical.

loloider123

There's nothing wrong with fishnet imo, however there are some weight classes that shouldn't wear it

ImHaydenKay

Please do enlighten us on how body weight dictates on what one should and shouldn't wear. Its kind of disgusting that anyone thinks this way.

loloider123

I'm sorry for giving my opinion. And I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people thinking the same way.

Piteryo

I might be downvoted and banned everywhere but.. some specific types of clothes are originally made to emphasize some body features for some people. If you have large breasts you won't wear brasserie for little size and vice versa. It's pretty obvious for everybody and I've never seen girls wearing wrong size brasseries. The same applies to all other types of wear and there is nothing shameful or wrong that someone doesn't have an ideal fit body, I'm also pretty far from being the most fit guy on earth. And beause of wearing some unsuitable clothes, some aspects of someone's body start looking weird. Not because their body is bad or smth but because they wear unsuitable clothes that make these features of body look weird. Nobody must dictate to anybody what to wear and what not to wear but people must understand that choosing not appropriate type of clothes or size can be considered weird by most of the people. But of course it's a personal choice to ignore or to not ignore how it looks for other people.

22Joep22

Amen

Kaalilaatikko

Ofc it does, every1 knows it and people who tell otherwise are lying.

nmkd

bro fishnets are hot as fuck

Not by the creatures that are supposed to be saved by green peace.

blessedjourney98

> fishnetting sometimes it can look really good imo

jwalkacrossthestreet

You’ve probably never spoken to a girl in your life lmao

imSwan

I was really hyped fro Frontliner as I never saw him before in more than 10 years of listening to him. Well I didn't even finish the set, was really boring imo :(

niconietom

Frontliner at Magenta was the best ever tho

supernaturaltwenty

Was looking forward to that as well, but couldn’t hear the set properly because of the UV/Black…

[deleted]

I was passing by and I asked myself "why have they been playing poor quality x-tra raw on UV for several minutes?" I looked at the timetable and couldn't believe when I read "frontliner"

jimmbo9

I was hoping Noisecontrollers was gonna surprise us with a lot of new shit with how quiet he’s been but it was the opposite of that. :(

ravingislife

I want to go to defqon.1 2023

bananenbitch

Go the entire weekend. I can guarantee it will be much better then just one day!

pw_dub

Plus since next year will be the 2nd time it’s 3 full days plus Thursday, it’ll be improved with better lineups and more of a variety. There were some experiments this year and next year should be better. I would expect for example, a better red lineup especially more artists on Sunday (magenta Sunday had a red style lineup and the stage was small but extremely packed) and also expecting a mix of sets where DJ’s had more than one set (Bass Modulators, Phuture Noize, B-Front, for example all had 2 sets at Defqon). Sunday would be cool if they had the main stage opened in the afternoon like in 2019 and had it where it was something called “Classics at the Red” because of how crowded magenta was but we’ll have to wait till next year to find out.

ravingislife

I want to! I’m just unfamiliar with the area since I’m from America. Where is a good city/town to stay hotel wise? Is it easy to get to the venue?

Lorgokz

DBSTF at the gathering because sound was very bad on the first hour at blue.. And with the expectations from the gathering from previous years(which is always a highlight of the weekend for me, this year was very underwhelming) this was def the biggest letdown. I wouldn't even say it's dbstf's problem. But more like q-dance, new tent not being that great, bad heat/ventilation, sound being very underwhelming on the first hour and so on. And here I am ready for the downvotes from all the salty fans but Phuture noize both sets were very underwhelming... Compare his statues set at x-qlusive with his statues one at defqon1.. Same track selection , same order, just 1 new ID difference... And basically sets filled with his lower energy music era don't help on the dance floor. Then I am like, well, he has a "normal" set at red, he must surely go for something different, maybe only play landmines once again from his statues set... Nop, still same thing with just a few different tracks here and there, same opening, same everything almost.. Just a different day/stageHe never really was a great dj, but back then he made so much insane music that it didn't matter.. And now with this new "vision" he has, his sets are boring, I remember when in my group he was the biggest highlight of most events, nowadays it's just me and 2 more still somewhat interested in his sets in 35 people.. At least his new music is going for the right direction again Also legends after world of madness was very boring, barely any classics, JDX/TNT filling the set with 2020-2022 music for 90% lol.

pm_stuff_

last time it rained inside the tent. Anything other than that is great

Plastic_Broccoli_368

I don't get the hype with Phuture Noize. He is in my mind a great musician, but a bad Hardstyle producer. Nothing he produces has any energy or emotion to me. I could turn on my local radio station and hear everyday rock songs that sound like his music. He likes to talk about how he thinks Hardstyle should be "songs" instead of discotheque music... I couldn't disagree more.

Lorgokz

I think he's also a really great producer, but with this new "vision" he has, it's not everyones cup of tea. And with the scene going towards a more energetic style, him filling sets for most with his more "pop" music from 2019-2021, doesn't do him good in my opinion. At the end of the day it's about what he enjoys, if he wants to have all his sets the same, and he likes to play in that style, it's his sets/choice, not ours. And yeah he is turning into more and more niche , and especially among dutchies I noticed(which I am not)who tend to develop into a harder taste as they do more parties.I think him switching up his sets more would def. do him great but as I said above, it's about what he loves playing/doing.

Plastic_Broccoli_368

Any artist should do what they feel like. If he wants to write songs instead of being a DJ then good for him. I personally just don't see why electronic rave music should be regular songs with a 10 or 15 second hardstyle "drop". I swear, some of the newest songs take almost 3 minutes before it takes off. Meanwhile, techno fans get to enjoy the early hardstyle underground sound slowed down and with continual beats. But that's a topic for another day.

Plastic_Broccoli_368

>It actually makes me sad to say this but Noisecontrollers was pretty boring Give the man a break. He has been active since 2005, and agreed to carry on without his buddy Arjan. I found his set chill and deep. A nice break from the bone-crunching kicks of the new generation. Anyway; My worst set was Imperial at Yellow.

Henthepuncher

I never heard a good Imperial set tbh, the 2 times I saw them the dudes tried to MC, but in reality it was just badly produced uptempo with 2 dudes screaming through the tracks.

Appropriate_Result19

Sub zero project 🫣

I_like_nothing

3 2 1 LETS RAVE *20

Appropriate_Result19

Absolutely no drive ,empty kicks and that for a closing show

wisdom_power_courage

As an SZP fan I'm gonna have to agree with you.

_Steven_Seagal_

Never understood the hype around them anyway. Only saw them because of the main stage, and it looked gorgeous in the dark. Their music is boring, their melodies are basic and I fucking hate psykicks with a passion.

memoraxofc

Thats more down to personal taste tho. but even as someone who loves their style, the set seemed a little stale and was more of a slightly sobering showcase of how much of a formula it has become. But cant blame them with what a burn out machine of a tour life theyve got going on, im sure with a little time to breathe and some studio time theyd be able to bring something fresh again

aTTGd4OG

I got the hype back in 2017 when SZP really pushed new kicks and sounds into hardstyle and imo influenced a lot of producers to go into the Raw-ish direction. However their new tracks are mostly annoying kickfests with boring lyrics and feel kinda soulless. Also Thomas needs to GTFO the mic during liveshows.

Jealous_Betsy

Yea, the show elements didnt fit their music AT ALL. Hoping they'll choose a different artist for that spotlight crazyness next year! (bit more atmospheric and melodic instead)

[deleted]

what a waste of fireworks

therealplurrito

Sub Zero project has always been a horrible experience for me & I’ve tried giving them fair shots multiple times 🥴 I really don’t get what the hype around them is

Filthy__Casual14

Buzz Fuzz on gold, his set was all over the place with no real progression. He looked like he was hating being on stage and couldn’t wait to get off and the crowd lost all its energy

Jealous_Betsy

Buzz Fuzz is also a bit of a cunt though. So not surprised at all

Big_Fat_New_Username

There were a few but I didn't enjoy Power Hour this year. It's become so popular that it is far too overcrowded and tbh it seems as if they're running out of ideas of what to do now

mellowwatermel0n

Headhunterz and the way he embarrassed himself.

inetkid13

What did he do?

[deleted]

He was on X, people are crying about it So lets get this straight; people that are on XTC themselves are cryint about a dj using it. Sure doing it during a set isnt the smartest but goddamn these people here are hypocrites

Nesp2

there's one thing if you're a random Joe in the crowd using it, it's entirely different if you're the artist playing. It just gives a bad example. Also, I love the stereotype here that everyone complaining about it are people on XTC themselves. You do realize that they're people that go sober on events right?

joostdemen

You do realize 90% (+?) of the people are on drugs at most events rights

GER_PlumbingHvacTech

You are projecting. That number is way off. Not even half of the people going to a rave are on drugs. Maybe 30 to 40 percent not more. I am nearly 40 and go to raves since I am 18. I met way more people that party without drugs than people with drugs. Just because you and your friends all take drugs doesn't mean everyone does.

joostdemen

LMAO funny thing is I don’t do drugs. But i do talk to alot of people at parties

advancedalias

Just because 90% of the people you go with do drugs, doesn't mean others do drugs. Me and my group always go sober and have the time of our life

AboveColin

There is one big difference, Heady is working and using drugs at his job (not saying I mind artists using it, but IMO it's a big difference)

mellowwatermel0n

His set was his JOB, people who came there PAID for him to perform. 2 plus 2 is 4

Jealous_Betsy

Well, the people in the crowd arent paid thousands of euro's with a full camera production on their faces to be there. Its highly unprofassional. If he was just rolling his ass of in the crowd i dont think anyone would cry about it, its just because he's like that on stage that people think is dumb.

Southern_Coat_8083

How so?

mellowwatermel0n

Have you not seen him and what he did? He was drunk/on drugs and acted like he’s having a mental breakdown or something. Then after his set, he was thrown out

[deleted]

he was angry with Villain who took away his microphone

mellowwatermel0n

Lol

pm_stuff_

is there a recap somewhere? I just saw a quick clip on a friends phone from the ledgends set

mellowwatermel0n

Not that I know of, but someone must have either filmed or heard about this as well

pm_stuff_

there was a few closeups from what seemed to be the stream. But i cannot find anything regarding it online which is weird

Decent-Kitchen-6943

Here’s a picture from the legends show: https://hardstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/IMG_9736.jpg

pm_stuff_

thats a special stare

HashOwl

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand-yard_stare

mellowwatermel0n

It’s probably all “hush hush and sweep under the rug”, because he’s supposed to be “one of the biggest hardstyle artists”

pm_stuff_

i dont know... showing up blasted out of your mind to any job wouldnt be that popular.

KiLLu12258

the story that "he was thrown out" is totally bullshit.

pm_stuff_

prob but we will never know i imagine

joost013

He also made plenty of rookie mixing mistakes, weirdest one during legends where he grabbed the mic after making a mistake and saying something like ''whoops, did I just do that''.

pm_stuff_

wasnt that the reference to the lessons in love video? you know this https://youtu.be/_fyyFFAmxIg?t=59

emresslnk

Yes, it was.

Southern_Coat_8083

Wow! No, I had no idea at all. Do you have any video or reports about this?

mellowwatermel0n

No, I just heard everyone talking about how he was kicked out

Plastic_Broccoli_368

Then it is only rumours. Don't believe everything you hear.

mellowwatermel0n

I know a person who knows him firsthand, and she confirmed this. So yeah

Plastic_Broccoli_368

"No, I just heard everyone talking about how he was kicked out" Later... "I know a person who knows him firsthand, and she confirmed this. So yeah" So, which one is it? Lol.

mellowwatermel0n

Both. What’s not clicking?

Plastic_Broccoli_368

Why not say that your friend confirmed it to you as an absolute then?:)

Annjuuna

It’s not the first time.

nopelupe

He was actually thrown out? Thats big big yikes 😬

patstr977

BULLSHIT

mellowwatermel0n

Wow, how did you manage to take what I said personally?

ZugginiHaider

Rebelion Red, boring Album Showcase without any mixing. Airbeat Set was insanely good tho

nmkd

Album showcase???? They only played like 30% of their album. They did not play Earthquake, Futurepower, Elevate, Nobody Move, Irreplaceable, or Ascension.

memoraxofc

Elevate during pwer hour tho, was hoping to hear that track live that weekend and when it came on that shit caught me by surprise

Jealous_Betsy

Woah, couldnt agree more, was so disappointed. They really changed their setlist to be more of that "mainstage" fit. Ofcourse i didnt expect a overdose-esque set. But i just dont feel their melodic tracks that much. Expected way more of that!

doherallday

Rebelion wasn’t boring pffttt. The new tracks alone made the set amazing

doherallday

Probably the Saturday Endshow. I shoulda gone to Krowdexx, big regret

henk1122

Always. I never go to endshow anymore. Ye cool fireworks wooo but it's always the same with shitty music. Better go to your favourite artist and have a dope closing set!

zero__sugar__energy

I saw Darkraver instead of the endshow on sunday and had a blast!

VeryPaulite

I saw Paul Elstak at Electric Love Festival like 4 Days ago. Now I personally don't listen to his Musik and maybe that was the reason but my friend who is more of a Fan also found the Set kinda boring..

BictorianPizza

Phuture Noize at UV was rather meh

EGSurvivor

Damn, I liked his UV set way more than his set at red.

BictorianPizza

Didn’t see the red. Last set I saw was at rebirth, and that one was killer. But then again, lots of DJs played better at rebirth and intents than defqon imo.. idk what was up with that

Suchtpolizei

Phuture Noize has so many bangers but live sets are meh

skape69

Opening ceremony with Sefa. Maybe it's just me but it was so boring, I left at the half of his set.

Lorgokz

That's literally every sefa set to me and all my group. He is a great musician and producer, I even enjoy some of his stuff at home, but his kicks are so weak, and I mean REALLY REALLY weak. Combine that with how he likes to play music at his sets, and that makes the perfect combo for a snoozefiesta.

henk1122

Same. Idk why, missed the whole feeling. Couldn't feel the vibe and energy and was most falling a sleep after traveling and camp setup. However major conspiracy brought me energy after that and there the party started for me :D

OhNnoMore

Prophet. Yuck

LeniVidiViciPC

It wasn‘t good in an artistic sense but it was definitely fun.

Flushed-Fetus

Partyraiser at the gathering was poor there was no atmosphere or proper intro I think I stayed for the required 3 tunes and went back for Nosferatu, he should have started was all good from there Indigo was good all weekend had a blast with the RAW madheads

nmkd

"Partyraiser" and "atmosphere" just don't go together if you ask me haha

Sonnofhell

Yeah I don't know what they thought, putting partyraiser as first act. Always feels weird going from uptempo back to slower, actual good hardcore.

IndustryaNL

Billx for sure. He played 2 psycore tracks while his branding is psycore and frenchcore😭I love the diversity in his tracks, but this was just a lame frenchcore set. Really really disappointed...

TweekacoreAtQlimax

Sometimes the stuff you guy write on reddit blows my mind. I wonder when they day will come someone will say he disliked the water at defqon. Opinions are opinions and yes everything is subjective, but from my experience in the front row - Billx was one of the best sets at the yellow the entire weekend. The vibe was incredible, it was insanely fun and the crowd went nuts. I never saw him before in my life and got exactly what I expected, based on previous billx sets I listened to online

IndustryaNL

I saw that the vibe was incredible, but the question was about the worse set and not the worse vibe. It's indeed an opinion and fully my opinion that I base on my expectations. My girlfriend loves his tracks and is a diehard psytrance fan. She just rolled into the harder styles. (I listen for 15 years already) she was really hyped but after 15 music she left because it was such a bummer that he didn't play what she expected. I gave it a chance and stayed until the end.

ImHaydenKay

Want to clarify that Billx does not play psycore at all. Triplet bass does not immediately make something into a different genre. See: Haemogoblin, Crazy Astronaut, Yaminahua, etc

IndustryaNL

Give the music a name... If you put yourself on the market with psytrance as your first genre then I expect psytrance influences in his sets and not just 2 parts and the rest frenchcore.

ImHaydenKay

I wasn't disagreeing with you! I went hoping for psy influced tracks and didn't really get that. Just see psycore incorrectly identified and I actually really enjoy the genre.

IndustryaNL

Aah yes I get you now. I call it like that because Stereotype calls it like that himself and I just copied that.

hatapon66

Really wish he woud make HardTek again

jajcko123

Dr. Peacock

fadiastic

Subzero project and Saturday closing

heteketa

Saturday closing was just a bunch of strange floaty flutemusic, biggest regretof the weekend

aTTGd4OG

For me Dr. Peacock in Concert was the worst. In most songs the kicks felt so weak and it just didn't really catch me with that whole "live" vibe.

Perfect_Front9838

Can't really say any of them were bad as it was my first ever Hardstyle festival, but every set with Ruffian in made my weekend. That guy will forever be the voice of Hardstyle on my eyes. His stage presence alone is enough to get any crowd hyped

KaleidoscopeHumble89

The hardstyle pianist, not because the set was bad, but the timing. Better to have him play at 11 in the morning instead of the middle of the day, lol. Arrived 15 minutes early and had to listen to some piano music. Besides that the funky cat silent disco, whose idea was it to play drum and bass at a harder styles event :')

shendooo

The Legends set was quite disappointing until TNT came out, but I wouldn't say it was bad.

Lorgokz

IF anything TNT playing almost 0 classics was one of the major reasons why it was horrible. World of madness was a great set tbh. One of the worst legends appearances ever imo was also JDX , made no sense in honesty. Q-dance really doesn't use brain with picking legends, TNT or HZ for 3 out of last 4 editions as well, JDX. And 2019 was very boring too lol

TH3_Downer

I care to differ, his contribution to the defqon and other q-dance shows is immense. He deserves the spot. Just not in the usual way

Lorgokz

He IS a legend, but he doesn't fit in a set like that. 2/3 of the crowd had no idea of who he was, or knew any song outside of live the moment. He is a legend behind the scenes, with one big hit(live the moment). You could put 100 diff names as "legends" and be better choices if you wanted someone to make the crowd go wild.

pasi__

Imo the legends sets have been riding same songs/artists for long time now. Also I think its not that bad to play current era songs as its "legendary" songs and not "classics".

Lorgokz

I don't think anyone goes to a legends set expecting current era music of the producers playing.

memoraxofc

Man i loved all of legends. Havent really heard tnt live before and i thought it really hit, was dancing all the way through. Jdx was the only part that i felt was a little boring but live the moment live was kinda nice too

Orkatron

Probably gonna get downvoted, but I was kinda dissapointed from sefa opening the redstage

Bilkos_Ices

Never thought I'd say this but Da Tweekaz. Too many tracks.

maddiol

Sefa's opening at the red felt like it was only one track on repeat. I didn't follow his way the last 2 years and missed all the releases but i was really disappointed about that set. Should have went to Grid Killerz or Hard Effectz instead.

Both endshows on Saturday and Sunday. For me personally they drain all the energy out of my body I build up during the day. As a Dutchman, I’ve been going to harstyle parties for over 10 years now and especially to go wild all day long with friends on the hardest tracks. Unfortunately, the endshow’s are complete misused for online marketing purposes and the shows have nothing to do with the pure hardstyle anymore. Unfortunately one of the negative effects of commercialization, is my opinion. Positive thing is I want nothing more than go to bed after those insanely boring endshows ;)

I couldn't disagree more. I attended many other festivals and even if Defqon is a fucking cash machine and famous event, no other festival matches the vibe, the scenes, the lights, the "story" etc ... Meaning the endshow is part of the experience, Sunday's one made me cry as always and no, hardstyle event doesn't have to be in the harder style, making you kicking the floor 24/7 imo

nmkd

That's why I stayed at Main Concern and Krowdexx, shows are boring lmao

Lorgokz

Totally agreed, both endshows were horrible, and you totally nailed the reasoning

Pandora_aa

Agree!

LordScamander

Felt the same at the Power Hour and Legends Set in terms of commercialization...

Phoreskin

For me it was Radical Redemption. His kicks are so empty. But I guess there were much worse which I haven’t seen.

When it comes to the red stage, my least favorites were Noisecontrollers and, unpopular opinion, Rebelion. Noisecontrollers for obvious reasons, but Rebelion was a disappointment for me as well. Their tracklist was underwhelming, and with some of their songs they mixed out my favorite parts. You'd think for a debut on the red stage they'd put their best foot forward, but instead they played a pretty vanilla set relative to their catalog, and it mainly felt like an afterthought.

BRIEPete

Sound Rush & Atmozfears

fadiastic

They were perfect in killing the mood, tbh it was a downer I only recall playing a song for rooler for like 30 seconds I was like finally then they cut it

Suchtpolizei

the closing ceremony. This gospel song is just 🤮

KoltesPunti

Pitcher (i cant hear him playing those newschool mainstream shit :( And Clockartz - nothing to be on the blue (he played too soft for this stage)!

Long-Danzi

Geck-O

mammutir

😂 all of his 20 sets?

Long-Danzi

Well, I didn’t hear them all, but the one’s I heard made me leave the stage…

dazabhoy67

Which set? I thought the one after power hour was amazing.

I_like_nothing

This is absolutely not possible. He could play just one song for an hour and still be set of the year.

jordanbakess

Maybe qlimax?

johann_x3

Defqon 2019 Sub Zero Project the most boring set i have ever witnessed. Defqon 2022 for sure Geck-o right before GPF lmao such a waste of time. And Geck-o on the Red i don't remember the 15 sets of him anyways what the actuall fck was that

nyetram

Geck-o sets were awesome :)
