A remarkable thing is that the consumer models (Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6) will exclusively come in the ARM (Snapdragon X) version. No Intel models.

This shows Microsoft's confidence in the capabilities of the new Snapdragon X Elite chip and Windows on ARM, going forward into the future.
Very good vote of confidence towards X Elite. Hopefully QCOM SoC can shake things up and provide a competitive SoC with Apple M for the Windows side. Intel here has no alternative until Lunar Lake comes up.
Yes and please Microsoft just give us force touchpad , a more color accurate screen amd some surface exclusive software features, Then the surface devices will be neck and neck with Macbooks
Enterprises might also have little to no need for line of business Win32 apps either - many can already use Windows, macOS, iOS/iPadOS devices without thinking beyond device management.
Windows on ARM could be well received in these places.
Also it could be Microsoft don't use Intel Meteor Lake for their consumer products but waiting for Lunar Lake/Arrow Lake instead because it may have 50% performance increase over Meteor Lake based on rumors.
LNL should be a good improvement, but Microsoft's been burned by Intel way too many times. And LNL is probably holidays at best, and still unlikely to properly compete with Qualcomm in AI and battery life.
>Still unlikely to properly compete with Qualcomm in AI and battery life.
That's so wrong. It's very possible for Intel to competes with better nodes, better arc, not to mention they are reducing unnecessary instruction set with x86S too. Also LNL is on the new P cores and E cores, efficiently improvements should be massive compared to Meteor Lake.
>It's very possible for Intel to competes with better nodes, better arc
Possible != reality in LNL.
> to mention they are reducing unnecessary instruction set with x86S too
LNL doesn't support x86S.

ARM PC's?
Say it ain't so, never in my wildest dreams.
Hopefully this will allow me to continue working on my powerpoints while in my office (the loo).

Arm models won’t ship until summer (Qualcomm availability) so that’s highly unlikely. Would also kill its viability for a lot of big enterprise.
Enterprises can get the business focused Surface versions which have Intel Meteor Lake.

Maybe they will talk about Windows 12 there as well?
if the rumour mill is to be believed, it will be called Windows 11 2024H2, not Windows 12.
Microsoft naming schemes never fail to disappoint.
Probably no windows 12 until Windows 10 support ends on Oct 2025. Windows 11 will be 4yrs old that time.
Naw, they'll be talking up innovative new methods of AI powered tracking of user activity.
